Liquid-membrane ion-selective electrodes made with the ion-association complexes of novocaine with tetraphenylborate or dipicrylamine are proposed for use in the determination of novocaine by direct potentiometry or by potentiometric titration with sodium tetraphenylborate. The titration method is preferred, and the mean relative error for 4-12 mg of novocaine hydrochloride is 0.5%.  相似文献

The construction and basic characteristics of a new liquid-state Hg(2+)-selective membrane electrode are discussed. The membrane consists of the PAN chelate of Hg(II), dissolved in CHCl(3). The linear response range of the electrode is 10(-1) -10(-5)M Hg(2+) with a slope of 28.5 mV/decade of concentration. The response time of the electrode in dilute solutions is less than 3 min, and in concentrated solutions it is only a few sec. The electrode has been used in precipitation or complexation titrations in which Hg(2+) is involved (e.g., in the determination of some organic compounds in drug synthesis).  相似文献

The incorporation, behaviour and suitability of a home-made coated tubular solid-state copper(II)-selective electrode into the conduits of a flow-injection system is described. The compact tubular sensor (volume 7.8 μl) is constructed from a copper tube and Tygon tubing, treated with ammonium sulphide to give the copper/copper sulphide electrode and conditioned in an ascorbic acid medium. Interferences of foreign ions are similar to those found in batch analysis, but are less severe in the flow-injection system. Changes in carrier stream pH between 1 and 3 affected the electrode response, but sample pH has no or little influence in the range 1–7 depending on the copper(II) ion concentration in the samples. With 30-μl samples the flow-through electrode system covers a working range up to 5000 mg dm?3 with a detection limit of 0.5 mg dm?3. The system is suitable for the determination of copper(II) in effluent and tap water (relative standard deviation < 1.75% for 0.5–912 mg dm?3 copper) and acidic copper sulphate plating solutions (relative standard deviation < 1.21% for 87–4135 mg dm?3 copper) at a sample frequency of about 80 h?1. The results obtained agree well with results by a standard atomic absorption spectrometric method.  相似文献

An extract of crystal violet-tetrachloroferrate(III) in nitrobenzene was used to prepare a tetrachloroferrate(III)-selective liquid membrane electrode with a poly(vinyl chloride) support. The optimal conditions to determine 2.5 × 10–5 – 5.0 × 10–2 M iron(III) as tetrachloroferrate(III) (anionic slope 56 mV/decade, detection limit 7.9 × 10–6 M) were found to be 4.0–5.5.M total chloride in 0.75–1.5M hydrochloric acid. The electrode was reliably applied to determine iron in human blood, haematite and mineralized vitamin syrup by direct potentiometry, standard and sample additions as well as standard subtraction techniques.  相似文献

A new PVC membrane electrode for cobalt(II) ions based on a recently synthesized Schiff base of 5-((4-nitrophenyl)azo)- N-(2',4'-dimethoxyphenyl)salicylaldimine is reported. The electrode exhibits a Nernstian response for Co(2+) ions over a wide concentration range (9.0 x 10(-7)-1.0 x 10(-2) M) with a slope of 29(+/-1). The limit of detection is 8.0 x 10(-7) M. The proposed sensor revealed good selectivities over a wide variety of other cations including hard and soft metals. This electrode could be used in a pH range of 3.5-6.0. It was used as an indicator electrode in potentiometric titrations of cobalt(II) ions and can be used in the direct determination of Co(2+) in aqueous solutions.  相似文献

A PVC-membrane electrode based on a recently synthesized 18-membered macrocyclic diamide is presented. The electrode reveals a Nernstian potentiometric response for Co2+ over a wide concentration range (2.0 x 10(-6)-1.0 x 10(-2) M). The electrode has a response time of about 10 s and can be used for at least 2 months without any divergence. The proposed sensor revealed very good selectivities for Co2+ over a wide variety of other metal ions, and could be used over a wide pH range (3.0-8.0). The detection limit of the sensor is 6.0 x 10(-7) M. It was successfully applied to the direct determination and potentiometric titration of cobalt ion.  相似文献

The strongly basic anion-exchange resin Dowex 2 when saturated with triiodide and placed in a gel layer in a glass tube acts as an electrode for iodine, as does a platinum wire electrode. When the gel membrane is placed with a platinum electrode in an iodide solution, the anion-exchange resin adsorbs iodide selectively, and a decrease in the potential of the membrane electrode is caused. The arrangement can be used as an iodide-selective electrode, which shows a linear response over the pI-range 1–5 and an excellent selectivity for iodide over other halides.  相似文献

In this work, a new diimine-dioxime compound (N,N′-bis[1-biphenyl-2-hydroxyimino-2-(4-chloroanilino)-1-ethylidene]-1,4-phenylenediamine) was synthesized and characterized by a combination of elemental analyses, FT-IR, 1H- and 13C-NMR spectra. The extraction ability of the new compound has been examined in chloroform by using several transition metal picrates such as Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Pb(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II). It has been observed that diimine-dioxime compound shows a high affinity to Hg(II) ion. The electrochemical measurements of the compound were performed by cyclic voltammetry in acetonitrile solution at room temperature, and two irreversible oxidation waves were observed. A Hg(II)-selective electrode based on the diimine-dioxime compound has been developed. The electrode showed linear responses with Nernstian slopes of 33 ± 1 mV per decade over a wide concentration range (1.0 × 10?2–8.0 × 10?6 M). The limit of detection was 2.4 × 10?6 M. The electrode has a response time about 10–15 s and it did not show a considerable divergence in its potential response over a period of 1 month. The proposed electrode revealed selectivity towards Hg(II) ion in the presence of various cations. The electrode could be used over a wide pH range of 4.0–9.0. The electrode can be successfully used as an indicator electrode for potentiometric titration of Hg(II) with EDTA.  相似文献

Conducting polymer poly(pyrrole) (PPy) doped with Nafion was successfully used as ion-to-electron transducer in the construction of a solid-contact Pb2+-selective polymeric membrane electrode. The Nafion dopant can effectively increase the capacitance of the conducting polymer and improve the mechanical robustness of the coating. The transducer layer, PPy-Nafion, characterized by cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, exhibits a sufficiently high bulk (redox) capacitance and fast ion and electron transport process. The new Pb2+-selective polymeric membrane electrode, based on PPy-Nafion film as solid contact, shows stable Nernstian characteristics in Pb(NO3)2 solution within the concentration range of 1.0 × 10−7–1.0 × 10−3 M, and the detection limit is 4.3 × 10−8 M. The potential stability of the electrode and the influence of the interfacial water layer were also evaluated by chronopotentiometry and potentiometric water layer test, respectively. The results show that the solid-contact Pb2+-selective electrode, based on PPy-Nafion film as ion-to-electron transducer, can effectively overcome the potential drift and reduce the water layer between the PPy-Nafion transducer layer and the ion-selective membrane.  相似文献

A new PVC membrane electrode for Zn2+ ions based on tetra(2-aminophenyl) porphyrin (TAPP) as membrane carrier is prepared. The sensor exhibits a linear stable response over a wide concentration range (5.0×10−5 to 1.0×10−1 M) with a slope of 26.5 mV/decade and a limit of detection 3.0×10−5 M (1.96 ppm). It has a response time of about l0 s and can be used for at least 8 months without any divergence in potential. The propose membrane sensor revealed good selectivities for Zn2+ over a wide variety of other metal ions and can be used in pH range of 3.0–6.0. It was successfully applied to the direct determination of zinc in a pharmaceutical sample and also as an indicator electrode in potentiometric titration of Zn2+ ions.  相似文献

A potentiometric ion-selective electrode based on new compound, as a carrier, has been successfully developed for detection of perchlorate anion in aqueous solution. Within the perchlorate ion concentration range 1.0×10–6 to 1.0 mol L–1 the electrode had a linear response with a Nernstian slope of 60.6±1.0 mV per decade . The limit of detection as determined from the intersection of the extrapolated linear segments of the calibration plot was 8.0×10–7 mol L–1. The proposed electrode has fairly a good discriminating ability towards ClO4 ion in comparison to other anions. The sensor has a response time of 10 s and can be used for at least 2 months without substantial divergence in potential. It was successfully applied to direct determination of perchlorate in urine and water.  相似文献

A sodium ion-selective PVC membrane electrode based on di(o-methoxy)stilbenzo-24-crown-8 is reported. The electrode gives a near-Nernstian response in the range 9×10?6–1×10?2 M sodium ion and can be used in the pH range 5–8.5. A new PVC membrane electrode based on 5,7,12,14-dibenzo-2,3,9,10-tetraoxa-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane (I) as an ion carrier, o-nitrophenyloctyl ether (o-NPOE) as solvent mediator and sodium tetraphenylborate (NaTPB) as lipophilic additive was fabricated and investigated as Sr2+-selective electrode. The best performance was exhibited by the membrane having composition 8:200:4:120 (I:o-NPOE:NaTPB:PVC). The electrode exhibited a Nernstian response for strontium ion over a wide concentration range 3.98 × 10−6 to 1.0 × 10−1 M with a slope of 29.0 ± 0.1 mV/decade of concentration and a detection limit of 2.82 × 10−6 M. It showed a response time of less than 10 s and could be used for at least 3 months without any divergence in potential. The proposed electrode showed a good discriminating ability towards strontium(II) ion over a wide variety of other metal ions including alkali, alkaline earth, transition, and heavy metal ions. The electrode can be used in the pH range of 2.5-10.5 and in mixtures containing up to 35% (v/v) non-aqueous content. It was used as an indicator electrode in potentiometric titration of strontium ion against EDTA.  相似文献

A new lead(II)-selective electrode has been developed based on bis(acetylacetone)-p-phenylenediamine-lead(II) [LPb(NO3)2]H2O complex ionophore as a sensing material, dioctylphthalate (DOP) as a solvent mediator and PVC as a matrix. This electrode exhibits a linear Nernstian response over the concentration range of 1 x 10(-5)-1 x 10(-1) mol l(-1) of Pb(II) cation, with a cationic calibration slope of 30.0 +/- 0.2 mV/concentration decade and a detection limit of 2 x 10(-6) mol l(-1) (0.40 ppm). It has a fast response time and can be used for a period of 2 months without any divergence in potentials. The proposed electrode reveals a good selectivity for Pb(II) over a wide variety of other tested cations and could be used in the pH range of 4-8. It was successfully used for direct determination of Pb(II) concentration in some samples. The obtained results show a good agreement with those obtained by an atomic absorption spectrometric method. The average recovery obtained is 96.5 +/- 0.5% with standard deviation of 1.2% (n = 8).  相似文献

A new Cr(VI)-selective electrode of PVC membrane based on triheptyl dodecyl ammonium iodide is described. The response of the electrode is Nernstian for Cr(VI) concentration down to 2X10-6M in 0.03-0.13N HF solution. Limit of detection is 5X10-7M. The plot of logarithms of selectivity coefficients vs. z/γ of various anions is essentially linear with a correlation coefficient of -- 0.88. Applications of the electrode in determination of total Cr in steels and copper alloys, and Cr(VI) in waste-water from chromium electroplating are reported.  相似文献

Summary The influence of high concentrations of sodium (Na), chlorine (Cl) and bromine (Br) on the analytical results obtained by means of several modern analytical methods by different laboratories was investigated. The results obtained for the halophytic plants, Aster tripolium and Rhizophora mangle, were compared with that of NBS-Citrus leaves (NBS 1572). With a few outliers no considerable interference effects from Na, Cl and Br on the results of other elements were found.

Two novel heteroatom-bridged bis(benzo-12-crown-4 ether)s, i.e., bis(2-nitro-4,5-(1,4,7,10-tetraoxadecamethylene)phenyl) disulfide (4) and diselenide (5), have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and mass, IR, UV, and (1)H NMR spectroscopy. An X-ray crystallographic structure was obtained for 4. Ion-selective electrodes (ISE) for Ag(+), containing 4 and 5 in PVC membrane as neutral carriers, were prepared, and their selectivity coefficients for Ag(+) () were determined against other heavy metal ions, alkali and alkaline-earth metal ions, and ammonium ion using the matched potential method. These ISEs showed excellent Ag(+) selectivities, log /= -1.2). These values are comparable to those reported for the representative Ag(+)-selective thioethers 6 and 7, revealing that both disulfide and diselenide functionalities in 4 and 5 are equally effective Ag(+)-selective binding sites as the 1,7-dithia-4-oxa functionality in 6 and 7, irrespective of the different atom type and relative position of the sulfur/selenium donors in the ligands. Also discussed are the steric and electronic effects of the nitro groups in 4 and 5 on the Nernstian slopes obtained with the 4- and 5-based ISEs.  相似文献

The influence has been studied of the membrane and solution composition on the response of H(+)-ISEs with plasticized polymer and liquid membranes based on the neutral carriers N,N-dioctylaniline and tridecylamine in association with trioctyloxybenzene sulphonic acid. It is shown that the extraction processes at the membrane/solution interface exert the main effect on the response limits by inducing essential changes in the activity of potential-determining ions in the membrane. At low pH, the amine extraction of acids followed by neutralization (free amines binding in ion-pairs) is the relevant process, while at high Ph it is the extraction of metal cations with amine salts of a lipophilic acid, with the consequent displacement of amine from the salts. Equations are suggested to represent the interphase potential of the H(+)-ISE membranes with allowance for these extraction processes. The experimental electrode responses of both liquid and polymer membranes are shown to be well described by the equations for the interphase potential, thus indicating its dominant contribution to the membrane potential.  相似文献
