We use variational methods to study the existence of standing pulses in almost periodic channels. Since there is no group of symmetries as in the periodic case for which the functional is invariant, the negative gradient flow will be utilized to generate the convergent Palais–Smale sequences. Starting with suitable initial data, we prove that the infinite number of standing pulses can actually be found out in almost periodic channels.  相似文献

An integro-differential equation system with nonlocal effects of interspecific allelopathic interaction has been studied to investigate the formation of spatio-temporal structures in toxin producing phytoplankton population. The model is inherently more realistic than the usual kind of reaction-diffusion model. Bifurcation from uniform steady-state solution has been examined. Evolution of steady-state spatially periodic structure and periodic standing waves have been studied. The model helps to investigate the blooms, pulses and succession in different patches of phytoplankton population. Numerical simulations for a hypothetical set of parameter values and experimental observations have been presented to substantiate the analytical findings.  相似文献

We introduce a class of eventually almost periodic sequences where some suffix is almost periodic (i.e., uniformly recurrent). The class of generalized almost periodic sequences includes the class of eventually almost periodic sequences, and we prove this inclusion to be strict. We also prove that the class of eventually almost periodic sequences is closed under finite automata mappings and finite transductions. Moreover, we obtain an effective form of this result. In conclusion we consider some algorithmic questions related to the almost periodicity.  相似文献

We study the standing periodic waves in the semidiscrete integrable system modeled by the Ablowitz–Ladik (AL) equation. We have related the stability spectrum to the Lax spectrum by separating the variables and by finding the characteristic polynomial for the standing periodic waves. We have also obtained rogue waves on the background of the modulationally unstable standing periodic waves by using the end points of spectral bands and the corresponding eigenfunctions. The magnification factors for the rogue waves have been computed analytically and compared with their continuous counterparts. The main novelty of this work is that we explore a nonstandard linear Lax system, which is different from the standard Lax representation of the AL equation.  相似文献

We study the existence and stability of standing waves for the periodic cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a point defect determined by the periodic Dirac distribution at the origin. We show that this model admits a smooth curve of periodic‐peak standing wave solutions with a profile determined by the Jacobi elliptic function of cnoidal type. Via a perturbation method and continuation argument, we obtain that in the repulsive defect, the cnoidal‐peak standing wave solutions are unstable in $H^1_{per}$ with respect to perturbations which have the same period as the wave itself. Global well‐posedness is verified for the Cauchy problem in $H^1_{per}$ .  相似文献

This paper studies standing pulse solutions to the FitzHugh–Nagumo equations. Since the reaction terms are coupled in a skew-gradient structure, a standing pulse solution is a homoclinic orbit of a second order Hamiltonian system. In this work, an index theory for the Hamiltonian system is employed to study the stability of standing pulses for the FitzHugh–Nagumo equations. Related results for more general skew-gradient systems are also obtained.  相似文献

Let X be a compact metric space, F : X ×R→ X be a continuous flow and x ∈ X a proper quasi-weakly almost periodic point, that is, x is quasi-weakly almost periodic but not weakly almost periodic. The aim of this paper is to investigate whether there exists an invariant measure generated by the orbit of x such that the support of this measure coincides with the minimal center of attraction of x? In order to solve the problem, two continuous flows are constructed. In one continuous flow,there exist a proper quasi-weakly almost periodic point and an invariant measure generated by its orbit such that the support of this measure coincides with its minimal center of attraction; and in the other,there is a proper quasi-weakly almost periodic point such that the support of any invariant measure generated by its orbit is properly contained in its minimal center of attraction. So the mentioned problem is sufficiently answered in the paper.  相似文献

Since it is very difficult to obtain the compactness of an almost periodic function set, many classical methods controlled by compact conditions such as Schauder’s fixed point theorem and the coincidence degree cannot be applied to solve almost periodic cases. Therefore, it becomes more complicated to investigate the existence, nonexistence and uniqueness of positive almost periodic solution for a certain model by the traditional methods. In this paper, the authors establish a new fixed point theorem without the compact conditions. As its application, some sufficient conditions of the existence, nonexistence and uniqueness of positive almost periodic solution for a model of Hematopoiesis are obtained. Also, the technique used here is different from the usual methods employed to solve almost periodic cases such as the contraction mapping principle and the Lyapunov functional.  相似文献

We investigate leaky integrate-and-fire models (LIF models for short) driven by Stepanov and μ-almost periodic functions. Special attention is paid to the properties of the firing map and its displacement, which give information about the spiking behavior of the considered system. We provide conditions under which such maps are well-defined and are uniformly continuous. We show that the LIF models with Stepanov almost periodic inputs have uniformly almost periodic displacements. We also show that in the case of μ-almost periodic drives it may happen that the displacement map is uniformly continuous, but is not μ-almost periodic (and thus cannot be Stepanov or uniformly almost periodic). By allowing discontinuous inputs, we extend some previous results, showing, for example, that the firing rate for the LIF models with Stepanov almost periodic input exists and is unique. This is a starting point for the investigation of the dynamics of almost-periodically driven integrate-and-fire systems.  相似文献

In this paper, we derive a class of doubly periodic standing wave solutions for a coupled Higgs field equation by employing the Hirota bilinear method and theta function identities. Such solutions are expressed in terms of theta functions with variable separation form. Moreover, it is shown that these solutions can be converted into Jacobi elliptic function representations, and their long‐wave limit yields collision of dark solitons. In comparing with known solutions of the canonical evolution equation, three new aspects will be developed in this paper. First, the periods in the spatial and temporal directions, measured in terms of the theta function parameters τ and τ1, are independent of each other, quite unlike most similar solutions found earlier in the literature. Second, the doubly periodic wave solutions possess two families of the local maxima, whose locations and types are then examined in detail. Third, we obtain new doubly periodic standing wave solutions for the Davey–Stewartson equation through its similarity transformation to the coupled Higgs field equation.  相似文献

A temporally global solution, if it exists, of a nonautonomous ordinary differential equation need not be periodic, almost periodic or almost automorphic when the forcing term is periodic, almost periodic or almost automorphic, respectively. An alternative class of functions extending periodic and almost periodic functions which has the property that a bounded temporally global solution solution of a nonautonomous ordinary differential equation belongs to this class when the forcing term does is introduced here. Specifically, the class of functions consists of uniformly continuous functions, defined on the real line and taking values in a Banach space, which have pre-compact ranges. Besides periodic and almost periodic functions, this class also includes many nonrecurrent functions. Assuming a hyperbolic structure for the unperturbed linear equation and certain properties for the linear and nonlinear parts, the existence of a special bounded entire solution, as well the existence of stable and unstable manifolds of this solution are established. Moreover, it is shown that this solution and these manifolds inherit the temporal behaviour of the vector field equation. In the stable case it is shown that this special solution is the pullback attractor of the system. A class of infinite dimensional examples involving a linear operator consisting of a time independent part which generates a C0-semigroup plus a small time dependent part is presented and applied to systems of coupled heat and beam equations.  相似文献

This work aims to investigate the existence and uniqueness of almost periodic solution for partial functional differential equations with delay. Here, we assume that the undelayed part is not necessarily densely defined and satisfies the well-known Hille–Yosida condition, the delayed parts are assumed to be almost periodic with respect to the first argument and Lipschitz continuous with respect to the second argument. Using the exponential dichotomy and the contraction mapping principle, some sufficient conditions are obtained for the existence and uniqueness of almost periodic solution.  相似文献
