We extend the investigation of quantitative mean-value theorems of completely multiplicative functions on additive arithmetic semigroups given in our previous paper. Then the new and old quantitative mean-value theorems are applied to the investigation of local distribution of values of a special additive function *(a). The result is unexpected from the point of view of classical number theory. This reveals the fact that the essential divergence of the theory of additive arithmetic semigroups from classical number theory is not related to the existence of a zero of the zeta function Z(y) at y = –q –1.  相似文献

Characterizations of convexity and quasiconvexity of lower semicontinuous functions on a Banach space X are presented in terms of the contingent and Fréchet subdifferentials. They rely on a general mean-value theorem for such subdifferentials, which is valid in a class of spaces which contains the class of Asplund spaces.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the Martin integral representation for nonharmonic functions in discrete settings of infinite homogeneous trees. Recall that the Martin integral representation for trees is analogs to the mean-value property in Euclidean spaces. In the Euclidean case, the mean-value property for nonharmonic functions is provided by the Pizzetti (and co-Pizzetti) series. We extend the co-Pizzetti series to the discrete case. This provides us with an explicit expression for the discrete mean-value property for nonharmonic functions in discrete settings of infinite homogeneous trees.

Duke and Kowalski in [A problem of Linnik for elliptic curves and mean-value estimates for automorphic representations, Invent. Math. 139(1) (2000) 1–39 (with an appendix by Dinakar Ramakrishnan)] derive a large sieve inequality for automorphic forms on GL(n) via the Rankin–Selberg method. We give here a partial complement to this result: using some explicit geometry of fundamental regions, we prove a large sieve inequality yielding sharp results in a region distinct to that in [Duke and Kowalski, A problem of Linnik for elliptic curves and mean-value estimates for automorphic representations, Invent. Math. 139(1) (2000) 1–39 (with an appendix by Dinakar Ramakrishnan)]. As an application, we give a generalization to GL(n) of Duke's multiplicity theorem from [Duke, The dimension of the space of cusp forms of weight one, Internat. Math. Res. Notices (2) (1995) 99–109 (electronic)]; we also establish basic estimates on Fourier coefficients of GL(n) forms by computing the ramified factors for GL(n)×GL(n) Rankin–Selberg integrals.  相似文献

The Cauchy type mean-value theorems for the Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative are deduced here from known mean-value theorems of the Lagrange type. A general method for deducing these Cauchy type formulas is extracted. Two Cauchy type formulas are then deduced without a priori knowledge about the Lagrange type mean-value theorems.  相似文献

A sharp Jackson inequality in the space Lp(?d), 1 ≤ p < 2, with Dunkl weight is proved. The best approximation is realized by entire functions of exponential spherical type. The modulus of continuity is defined by means of a generalized shift operator bounded on Lp, which was constructed earlier by the authors. In the case of the unit weight, this operator coincides with the mean-value operator on the sphere.

We prove a mean-value theorem for lower semicontinuous functions on a large class of Banach spaces which contains the class of Asplund spaces, in particular reflexive Banach spaces and Banach spaces with a separable dual. It involves the lower subdifferential (or contingent subdifferential) and the Fréchet subdifferentials, which are among the smallest subdifferentials known to date. It follows that the estimates which it provides require weak assumptions and are accurate. When the function is locally Lipschitzian, we get a simple statement which refines the Lebourg mean-value theorem.  相似文献
