Let S be a locally compact semitopological semigroup with measure algebra M(S), M0(S) the set of all probability measures in M(S) and WF(S) the space of weakly almost periodic functionals on M(S)*. Assuming that M0(S) has the semiright invariant isometry property, it is shown that WF(S) has a topological left invariant mean (TLIM) whenever the center of M0(S) is nonempty; in particular if either the center of S is nonempty or S has a left identity, then WF(S) has a TLIM. Finally if, for each M0(S), the mapping v v * of M0(S) into itself is surjective and the center of M0(S) is nonempty, then WF(S) has a TLIM. We also generalize some results from discrete case to topological one.AMS Subject Classification (1991): 43A07  相似文献

Let C t = {z ∈ ℂ: |zc(t)| = r(t), t ∈ (0, 1)} be a C 1-family of circles in the plane such that lim t→0+ C t = {a}, lim t→1− C t = {b}, ab, and |c′(t)|2 + |r′(t)|2 ≠ 0. The discriminant set S of the family is defined as the closure of the set {c(t) + r(t)w(t), t ∈ [0, 1]}, where w = w(t) is the root of the quadratic equation ̅c′(t)w 2 + 2r′(t)w + c′(t) = 0 with |w| < 1, if such a root exists.  相似文献

Summary We consider a sequence of energy functionals for regular paths with fixed extremes and whose range is contained in a corresponding sequence(M h)h∈Z+ of subsets of an Hilbert space. Assuming on eachM h a condition similar top-convexity [C], we prove that if(M h)h∈Z+ is convergent in the sense of Kuratowsky toM the corresponding sequence(f h)h∈Z+of energy functionals is Γ-convergent to the functionalf relative toM and critical points off h,i.e. the geodesics, are convergent to those off.   相似文献

Denote byS * (⌕), (0≤⌕<1), the family consisting of functionsf(z)=z+a 2z2+...+anzn+... that are analytic and starlike of order ⌕, in the unit disc ⋎z⋎<1. In the present article among other things, with very simple conditions on μ, ⌕ andh(z) we prove the f’(z) (f(z)/z)μ−1<h(z) implies f∈S*(⌕). Our results in this direction then admit new applications in the study of univalent functions. In many cases these results considerably extend the earlier works of Miller and Mocanu [6] and others.  相似文献

We construct, under MA, a non-Hausdorff (T1-)topological extension *ω of ω, such that every function from ω to ω extends uniquely to a continuous function from *ω to *ω. We also show (in ZFC) that for every nontrivial topological extension *X of a countable set X there exists a topology τf on *X, strictly finer than the Star topology, and such that (*X, τf) is still a topological extension of X with the same function extensions *f. This solves two questions raised by M. Di Nasso and M. Forti.  相似文献

Using the notion of complete compactness introduced by H.  Saar, we define completely almost periodic functionals on completely contractive Banach algebras. We show that, if (M, Γ) is a Hopf–von Neumann algebra with M injective, then the space of completely almost periodic functionals on M * is a C*-subalgebra of M.  相似文献

Let A and B be uniform algebras. Suppose that α ≠ 0 and A 1A. Let ρ, τ: A 1A and S, T: A 1B be mappings. Suppose that ρ(A 1), τ(A 1) and S(A 1), T(A 1) are closed under multiplications and contain expA and expB, respectively. If ‖S(f)T(g) − α = ‖ρ(f)τ(g) − α for all f, gA 1, S(e 1)−1S(A 1) and S(e 1) ∈ T(A 1) for some e 1A 1 with ρ(e 1) = 1, then there exists a real-algebra isomorphism $ \tilde S $ \tilde S : AB such that $ \tilde S $ \tilde S (ρ(f)) = S(e 1)−1 S(f) for every fA 1. We also give some applications of this result.  相似文献

For a proper continuous map f:MN between topological manifolds M and N with m≡ dimM < dimNm+k, a primary obstruction to topological embeddings θ(f) ∈H c m k (M; Z 2) has been defined and studied by the authors in {9, 8, 2, 3], where H c * denotes the singular homology with closed support. In this paper, we study the obstruction from the viewpoint of differential topology and give various applications. We first give some characterizations of embeddings among generic differentiable maps, which are refinements of the results in [9, 10]. Then we give a result concerning the number of connected components of the complement of the image of a codimension-1 continuous map with a normal crossing point, which generalizes the results in [6, 4, 5, 9]. Finally we give a simple proof of a theorem of Li and Peterson [20] about immersions of m-manifolds into (2m-1)-manifolds. Received: 3 December 1999 / Revised version: 10 October 2000  相似文献

For a polynomial automorphism f of ?2 , we set τ = deg f 2)/(deg f). We prove that τ≤ 1 if and only if f is triangularizable. In this situation, we show (by using a deep result from number theory known as the theorem of Skolem–Mahler–Lech) that the sequence (deg f n ) n ∈ℕ is periodic for large n. In the opposite case, we prove that τ is an integer (τ≥ 2) and that the sequence (deg f n ) n ∈ℕ is a geometric progression of ratio τ. In particular, if f is any automorphism, we obtain the rationality of the formal series . Received: 1 December 1997  相似文献

Summary Here we prove the following result. Fix integersq, τ,a’, b’, a’ i, 1≤i≤τ,a’, b’, a’ i, 1≤i≤τ; then there is an integerew such that for every integertw, for every algebraically closed fieldK for every smooth complete surfaceX with negative Kodaira dimension, irregularityq andK X 2 =8(1−q)−τ, the following condition holds; ifXS is a sequence fo τ blowing-downs which gives a relatively minimal model with ruling ρ:SC, take as basis of the Neron Severi groupNS(X) a smooth rational curve which is the total transform of a fiber ofC, the total transform of a minimal section of ρ and the total transformD i, 1≤i≤τ, of the exceptional curver; then for everyH andL∈Pic (X) withH ample,H (resp.L) represented by the integersa’, b’, a’ i, (resp.a’, b’, a’ i), 1≤i≤τ, in the chosen basis ofNS(X) the moduli spaceM(ZX, 2,H, L, t) of rank 2H-stable vector bundles onX with determinantL andc 2=t is generically smooth and the number, dimension and ?birational structure? of the irreducible components ofM(X, 2,H, L, t)red do not depend on the choice ofK andX. Furthermore the birational structure of these irreducible components can be loosely described in terms of the birational structure of the components of suitableM(S, 2,H’, L’, t’)red withS a relatively minimal model ofX.

LetG be a discrete abelian group,Ĝ the character group ofG, andl (G)* the conjugate ofl (G) equipped with an Arens product. In many cases, we can find unitary functionsf such that χf is almost convergent to zero for all χ∈Ĝ. Some of these functions are then used to produce elements μ∈l (G)* such that γμ=0 whenever γ is an annihilator ofC 0(G). Regarded as Borel measures on βG, these elements satisfyxμ=0 for allx∈βG/G. They belong to the radical ofl (G)*, and each of them generates a left ideal ofl (G)* that contains no minimal left ideal.  相似文献

A vertex labeling f : V → Z2 of a simple graph G = (V, E) induces two edge labelings f+ , f*: E → Z2 defined by f+ (uv) = f(u)+f(v) and f*(uv) = f(u)f(v). For each i∈Z2 , let vf(i) = |{v ∈ V : f(v) = i}|, e+f(i) = |{e ∈ E : f+(e) = i}| and e*f(i)=|{e∈E:f*(e)=i}|. We call f friendly if |vf(0)-vf(1)|≤ 1. The friendly index set and the product-cordial index set of G are defined as the sets{|e+f(0)-e+f(1)|:f is friendly} and {|e*f(0)-e*f(1)| : f is friendly}. In this paper we study and determine the connection between the friendly index sets and product-cordial index sets of 2-regular graphs and generalized wheel graphs.  相似文献

Letf be a holomorphic self-map of the punctured plane ℂ*=ℂ\{0} with essentially singular points 0 and ∞. In this note, we discuss the setsI 0(f)={z ∈ ℂ*:f n (z) → 0,n → ∞} andI (f)={z ∈ ℂ*:f n (z) → 0,n → ∞}. We try to find the relation betweenI 0(f),I (t) andJ(f). It is proved that both the boundary ofI 0(f) and the boundary ofI )f) equal toJ(f),I 0(f) ∩J(f) ≠ θ andI (f) ∩J(f) ≠ θ. As a consequence of these results, we find bothI 0(f) andI (f) are not doubly-bounded. Supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China  相似文献

Let (Ω,A,μ) be a probability space, K the scalar field R of real numbers or C of complex numbers, and (S,X) a random normed space over K with base (ω,A,μ). Denote the support of (S,X) by E, namely E is the essential supremum of the set {AA: there exists an element p in S such that X p (ω) > 0 for almost all ω in A}. In this paper, Banach-Alaoglu theorem in a random normed space is first established as follows: The random closed unit ball S *(1) = {fS *: X * f ⩽ 1} of the random conjugate space (S *,X *) of (S,X) is compact under the random weak star topology on (S *,X *) iff EA=: {EA | AA} is essentially purely μ-atomic (namely, there exists a disjoint family {A n : nN} of at most countably many μ-atoms from EA such that E = ∪ n=1 A n and for each element F in EA, there is an H in the σ-algebra generated by {A n : nN} satisfying μ(FΔH) = 0), whose proof forces us to provide a key topological skill, and thus is much more involved than the corresponding classical case. Further, Banach-Bourbaki-Kakutani-Šmulian (briefly, BBKS) theorem in a complete random normed module is established as follows: If (S,X) is a complete random normed module, then the random closed unit ball S(1) = {pS: X p ⩽ 1} of (S,X) is compact under the random weak topology on (S,X) iff both (S,X) is random reflexive and EA is essentially purely μ-atomic. Our recent work shows that the famous classical James theorem still holds for an arbitrary complete random normed module, namely a complete random normed module is random reflexive iff the random norm of an arbitrary almost surely bounded random linear functional on it is attainable on its random closed unit ball, but this paper shows that the classical Banach-Alaoglu theorem and BBKS theorem do not hold universally for complete random normed modules unless they possess extremely simple stratification structure, namely their supports are essentially purely μ-atomic. Combining the James theorem and BBKS theorem in complete random normed modules leads directly to an interesting phenomenum: there exist many famous classical propositions that are mutually equivalent in the case of Banach spaces, some of which remain to be mutually equivalent in the context of arbitrary complete random normed modules, whereas the other of which are no longer equivalent to another in the context of arbitrary complete random normed modules unless the random normed modules in question possess extremely simple stratification structure. Such a phenomenum is, for the first time, discovered in the course of the development of random metric theory.  相似文献

In this paper we consider generalized convexity and concavity properties of the optimal value functionf * for the general parametric optimization problemP(ε) of the form min x f(x, ε) s.t.x∈R(ε). Many results on convexity and concavity characterizations off * were presented by the authors in a previous paper. Such properties off * and the solution set mapS * form an important part of the theoretical basis for sensitivity, stability and parametric analysis in mathematical optimization. We give sufficient conditions for several types of generalized convexity and concavity off *, in terms of respective generalized convexity and concavity assumptions onf and convexity and concavity assumptions on the feasible region point-to-set mapR. Specializations of these results to the parametric inequality-equality constrained nonlinear programming problem are provided. Let $ A $ A and ℬ be unital semisimple commutative Banach algebras. It is shown that if surjections S,T: $ A $ A → ℬ with S(1)=T(1)= 1 and α ∈ ℂ \ {0} satisfy r(S(a)T(b) − α)= r(abα) for all a,b ∈ $ A $ A , then S=T and S is a real algebra isomorphism, where r(a) is the spectral radius of a. Let I be a nonempty set, A and B be uniform algebras. Let ρ, τ: IA and S,T: IB be maps satisfying σ π (S(p)T(q)) ⊂ σ π (ρ(p) τ(q)) for all p,qI, where σ π (f) is the peripheral spectrum of f. Suppose that the ranges ρ(I), τ(I) ⊂ A and S(I),T(I) ⊂ B are closed under multiplication in a sense, and contain peaking functions “enough”. There exists a homeomorphism ϕ: Ch(B)→Ch(A) such that S(p)(y)= ρ(p)(ϕ(y)) and T(p)(y)= τ(p)(ϕ(y)) for every pI and y ∈ Ch(B), where Ch(A) is the Choquet boundary of A.  相似文献

UniversalC*-algebrasC*(A) exist for certain topological *-algebras called algebras with aC*-enveloping algebra. A Frechet *-algebraA has aC*-enveloping algebra if and only if every operator representation ofA mapsA into bounded operators. This is proved by showing that every unbounded operator representation π, continuous in the uniform topology, of a topological *-algebraA, which is an inverse limit of Banach *-algebras, is a direct sum of bounded operator representations, thereby factoring through the enveloping pro-C*-algebraE(A) ofA. Given aC*-dynamical system (G,A,α), any topological *-algebraB containingC c (G,A) as a dense *-subalgebra and contained in the crossed productC*-algebraC*(G,A,α) satisfiesE(B) =C*(G,A,α). IfG = ℝ, ifB is an α-invariant dense Frechet *-subalgebra ofA such thatE(B) =A, and if the action α onB ism-tempered, smooth and by continuous *-automorphisms: then the smooth Schwartz crossed productS(ℝ,B,α) satisfiesE(S(ℝ,B,α)) =C*(ℝ,A,α). WhenG is a Lie group, theC -elementsC (A), the analytic elementsC ω(A) as well as the entire analytic elementsC є(A) carry natural topologies making them algebras with aC*-enveloping algebra. Given a non-unitalC*-algebraA, an inductive system of idealsI α is constructed satisfyingA =C*-ind limI α; and the locally convex inductive limit ind limI α is anm-convex algebra with theC*-enveloping algebraA and containing the Pedersen idealK a ofA. Given generatorsG with weakly Banach admissible relationsR, we construct universal topological *-algebraA(G, R) and show that it has aC*-enveloping algebra if and only if (G, R) isC*-admissible.  相似文献

Let θ be an inner function, let θ*(H 2)=H 2⊖θH 2, and let μ be a finite Borel measure on the unit circle . Our main purpose is to prove that, if every functionf∈θ*(H 2) can be defined μ-almost everywhere on in a certain (weak) natural sense, then every functionf∈θ*(H 2) has finite angular boundary values μ-almost everywhere on . A similar result is true for the Lp-analog of θ*(H 2) (p>0). Bibliography: 17 titles. Translated fromZapiski Nauchnykh Seminarov POMI, Vol. 222, 1995, pp. 5–17.  相似文献
