The interactions between coherent beams launched near the interface of one-dimensional semi-infinite Kerr-type nonlinear waveguide arrays have been theoretically investigated. We have explored the effect of the input intensities, the relative phase of the optical beams, and the modulation of the refractive index of the optical lattices on nonlinear beam interaction dynamics. For in-phase beams with different incident intensities, the highly-localized spatial soliton was dragged in a discrete fashion by a low-intensity diffracting beam. Anomalous fusion of two out-of-phase beams, and energy exchange between the excited channels were observed at high intensities. The possibility of employing nonlinear interactions for optical signal re-addressing, all-optical switching is also discussed.  相似文献

We report experimental evidence of soliton reflection at the boundary of quadratic nonlinear media. The evolution of beams incident upon the interface of periodically poled LiNbO3 and uniform LiNbO3 is considered; in the whole device the linear refractive index is homogeneous. Linear beam transmission and soliton reflection at the nonlinear phase-mismatched boundary were observed. Numerical simulations that correspond to the experiments are also presented.  相似文献

We investigate numerically surface-wave solitons occurring at the interface between semi-infinite linear and thermal nonlinear optical media, with the refractive index of the linear medium being greater than that of the nonlinear medium (in the absence of light). We find that the threshold energy flows of the existence of the surface solitons depend on the linear refractive index difference of the two media. Their fitting empirical formula has been obtained. Furthermore, we elucidate that the optical beams propagating in thermal nonlinear optical media, either as a single surface soliton or as a dipole surface soliton, can be attracted to the surface, even when launched from far away.  相似文献

The observation of nonlinear staggered surface states at the interface between a substrate and a one-dimensional self-defocusing nonlinear waveguide array is reported. Launching of staggered input beams of different power in the first channel of the array results in formation of localized structures in different channels. The impact of the asymmetric nonlocal diffusion nonlinearity of Airy beams and nonlinear accelerating beams supported by photorefractive crystals is addressed. It is revealed how the asymmetric nonlocal response alters the evolution of these optical beams. It is found that the evolution of these beams presents a bending action under the influence of the diffusion nonlinearity. It is also shown that nonlinear accelerating beams can exist in photorefractive crystals with asymmetric nonlocality. These accelerating solutions have the same Airy‐like tail, and accelerate along parabolic trajectories. Soliton states are formed in the interaction of both in‐phase and out‐of‐phase Airy beams and nonlinear accelerating beams and also present a bending action because of the action of diffusion nonlinearity.  相似文献

We consider the interaction of 2-D and 3-D wave beams with an interface between linear and nonlinear media. The range of parameters of Gaussian beams exciting nonlinear surface waves (NSW) with high efficiency is analytically determined. Different regimes of NSW excitation are numerically studied. In this paper, we consider the new model of nonlinear contacting media based on nonlinear Schrodinger equation with point potential and term, which is depended stepwise on field amplitude. Such a model theoretically describes a change in properties of the boundary regions along the interface between a Kerr-type crystal with cubic nonlinearity and a nonlinear medium characterized by abruptly change in dielectric constant depending on field amplitude. The short-range local interaction between wave and interface is taken into account by point potential in nonlinear Schrodinger equation. We obtain two new types of localized states characterized by composite structure consisting of three parts of the field distributions. We find exact and approximate solutions of dispersion equations. We described new properties of the spectrum of localized states arising as a result of the interaction of the wave with the interface and the presence of threshold field of the switching between the medium constants. All results are obtained in an analytical form. The proposed theory can be used to describe the propagation features of intense light beams localized along media interfaces in nonlinear optics, and to describe Bose-Einstein condensates with cubic nonlinearity.  相似文献

 分析了高功率超高斯光束在非线性介质中传播的基本理论,用分步傅里叶变换方法计算了10阶超高斯光束在非线性介质内的传输过程,最后采用具有负折射率系数的非线性介质作为补偿材料,对不同的补偿方式进行了对比分析。研究表明,四种补偿方式均可以大大减小光束的B积分,有效防止超高斯光束边缘的非线性增长,降低光束的小尺度自聚焦,同时选用后补偿作为最佳补偿方式。  相似文献

当高功率激光通过Kerr非线性介质传输时,Kerr效应会严重影响激光的传输特性.实际应用中常遇到像散光束.迄今为止,像散光束传输特性的研究大都局限于在线性介质中的传输,而在非线性介质中传输的研究较少,且还未涉及像散激光束通过含光学系统的Kerr非线性介质传输变换的研究.本文主要研究Kerr效应对聚焦光束像散特性和焦移特性的影响,以及聚焦像散高斯光束的自聚焦焦距和光束焦点调控.在光束扩展情况下,推导出了聚焦像散高斯光束在Kerr非线性介质中传输的束宽、束腰位置和焦移的解析公式,研究表明:在自聚焦介质中,随着自聚焦作用增强(如光束功率增强),光束像散越强,但焦移越小;在自散焦介质中,随着自散焦作用增强(如光束功率增强),光束像散越弱,但焦移越大.另一方面,在光束自聚焦情况下,推导出了自聚焦焦距的解析公式,研究表明利用光束像散可以调控光束焦点个数.  相似文献

The evolution of two spatially separated light beams in a nonlinear Kerr medium described by a system of coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations is studied. An analytic solution is found for the variational problem. It is shown that when two crossed beams interact, a bound state can develop in which the distance between the centers of the beams and their radii vary periodically. Here the mutual curvature of the trajectories of the centers of the beams causes the beams to bend into a helical structure whose parameters (pitch and diameter) are also periodic functions. The threshold power for mutual trapping is determined and the period of the oscillations is found.  相似文献

We give what we believe to be the first closed-form exact expression for the dynamic evolution of nonstationary beams of arbitrary intensity and width propagating in a uniform nonlinear medium and in both two and three dimensions. This shows that periodic and quasi-periodic (nonradiating) beams can exist in a non-Kerr nonlinear medium. The Schr?dinger equation is solved for Gaussian beams in a saturable medium. For one critical (initial) beam width, the Gaussian is a stable stationary soliton or bullet, independent of its intensity; otherwise, it breathes. New quasi-periodic beams (mighty morphing solitons) and bullets (mighty morphs) of elliptical cross section also exist whose ellipticity changes with propagation.  相似文献

提出了一种利用非球面镜对圆环形光束进行非线性整形的方法,该方法利用两个高次非球面镜片小角度放置组成光束变换光路,能够在几乎不损失功率的情况下灵活调整环形光束的遮拦比和强度分布,也能够实现空心光束和实心光束的相互转换,且镜片加工难度低。实验结果表明,利用该方法搭建的光路与理论分析结果吻合较好,能够较好地对光束进行非线性整形。  相似文献

相控阵在聚焦超声治疗应用中不可避免地受到非线性影响,提出了采用高斯叠代法计算相控阵的非线性声场。在该方法中,利用预设焦点参数并应用伪逆矩阵算法得到阵元的激励参数;然后将阵元近似拟合成一组高斯声束的叠加,通过高斯声束叠代计算非线性声场。数值计算中以64阵元一维相控阵为研究对象;线性条件下,高斯叠代法结果与菲涅耳积分结果的误差低于0.5%,验证了该方法的可行性;单焦点及双焦点模式的相控阵非线性声场结果表明非线性效应能提高焦点聚焦性能,并且非线性效应与激励声压及激励频率成正比。   相似文献

The propagation of hollow Gaussian beams in strongly nonlocal nonlinear media is studied in detail.Two analytical expressions are derived.For hollow Gaussian beams,the intensity distribution always evolves periodically.However the second-order moment beam width can keep invariant during propagation if the input power is equal to the critical power.The interaction of two hollow Gaussian beams and the vortical hollow Gaussian beams are also discussed.The vortical hollow Gaussian beams with an appropriate topological charge can keep their shapes invariant during propagation.  相似文献

This paper reports that the central position of the reflected and transmitted beams of a nonlinear polarized light beam at the interface between two media undergoes transverse shifts. It presents a solution to the problem of transverse shift of a non-uniformly polarized paraxial light beam transmitting through interfaces between two homogeneous media by using a two-form amplitude and an extension matrix to represent the vector angular spectrum of a three-dimensional (3D) light beam. It derives general formula for the transverse shift of the transmitted beam, and discusses the shift of a well-collimated beam transmitting through an interface between two homogeneous media and a thin dielectric slab.  相似文献

The vibro-acoustography imaging method consists of forming an image of the deformability of a tissue submitted to a low frequency fLF stress field. This sound field can be created locally by means of a focused annular array emitting two primary beams driven at two close frequencies fa and fb = fa + fLF. In the existing literature, the origin of this stress field has been identified as the low frequency radiation pressure of the two primary beams. However, this work intends to show that another contribution to this internal stress is the low frequency field distributed in the object volume and created by the nonlinear interferences of the two primary beams. This nonlinear field was calculated in the case of multiple ring annular arrays and compared with the qLF beam experimentally measured in a water tank. The agreement between the theoretical and experimental curves provides information on the possibility that this nonlinear effect takes place in vibro-acoustography.  相似文献

We study the optical fields that are produced by two collinear Laguerre–Gaussian (LG) beams in strongly nonlocal nonlinear media. Various novel kinds of rotating breathers and solitons, such as quadrangle, pentacle, pentagon, etc. can be obtained by combining different mode-index LG beams with the different relative amplitude. The rotating and translating asymmetric breathers and solitons can be obtained when the difference of the azimuthal charge between the two combining LG beams is 1.  相似文献

This paper reports the theoretical study of combining Z-scan technique with Gauss-Bessel (GB) beams beside a phase object (PO) to measure the third-order nonlinear susceptibility components.By using this method,the sign of refractive index which depends on the shape of the close aperture Z-scan curve can be easily determined.Meanwhile,the magnitude of nonlinear coefficients can also be deduced by theoretical fit.The proposed method is advantageous for high sensitivity and imposes a lower stress in the cases of fragile materials,since small pulse energy is enough for the measurement of nonlinear coefficients.Predictions of the models are compared with Gaussian Z-scan measurement and GB Z-scan measurement.By using GB beams with a PO,the sensitivity of Z-scan measurements is found to be a factor of over 60 times greater than for Gaussian beams and 2 times greater than for Gaussian-Bessel beams.  相似文献

Frequency doubling of spatially limited laser beams in nonlinear optical crystals is analyzed. Conditions are found under which the diaphragm aperture effect limiting the efficiency of the process of second optical harmonic generation can be reduced. It is shown that a spatial shift of mutually orthogonally polarized beams of fundamental radiation in the direction perpendicular to the direction of propagation of the waves, as well as the optimization of the ratio of the spatial dimensions and the intensity at the entrance of the nonlinear medium, gives rise to an increase in the efficiency of second harmonic generation.  相似文献
