In situ scanning tunneling microscopy images of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of 4-mercaptopyridine (4-MPy) on Au(111) recorded in neat 0.1 M H2SO4 solutions provided evidence for a potential-induced phase transition over the range 0.40-0.15 V versus saturated calomel electrode. Analysis of the data was consistent with the presence of a (5 x square root(3)) and (10 x square root(3)) superstructure (phase A) at the positive end, that is, 0.40 V, for which the local coverage, theta(loc), is about 0.2 (two 4-MPy molecules per unit cell), which compresses at the negative end, that is, 0.15 V, to yield a much denser superstructure (phase B, theta(loc) ca. 0.5). This behavior is unlike that reported for the 4-MPy-Au(111) SAM prepared by identical means, in 0.1 M HClO4 (or in sulfate solutions of a much higher pH) for which only the (5 x square root(3)) superstructure was observed over the same potential range. The compression associated with the phase A to phase B transition is attributed to the formation of a hydrogen-bonded network of bisulfate coordinated in turn to the 4-MPy layer via the acidic hydrogens of the pyridinium moieties. Such conditions promote better packing of adsorbed 4-MPy species, which are aided by intermolecular pi-pi ring interactions, resulting in higher local coverages.  相似文献

The adsorption of methylviologen dications (MV2+) on single‐crystalline Au electrodes in both H2SO4 and HClO4 was examined. MV2+ strongly interacted with sulfate and bisulfate anions adsorbed on the Au(111) electrode surface in 0.05 M H2SO4 under a controlled potential of 1.25 V vs. the reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE). A characteristic non‐Faradaic current was observed at 1.10 V vs. RHE. When adsorption of MV2+ was carried out in 0.1 M HClO4, the electrochemical response of MV2+ was less than that obtained in H2SO4. The results show that the formation of a highly ordered sulfate/bisulfate adlayer plays an important role in the formation of condensed MV2+ layers. Examination of polycrystalline Au and Au(100) electrodes revealed a poor electrochemical response due to the surface roughness of the Au substrate, but the electrochemical detection was applicable to polycrystalline Au electrodes. A systematic investigation of the structural dependency of viologen derivatives showed that molecular size is important for electrostatic interactions with a highly ordered sulfate/bisulfate adlayer. The findings of the present study demonstrate successful detection of MV2+ at a concentration of ≤1 pM with a non‐Faradaic current.  相似文献

An iodine-modified Au(111) surface, (I/Au(111)), was used as a substrate to prepare a C 60 adlayer by self-organization in a benzene solution. A highly ordered C 60 adlayer was successfully prepared due to the moderate C 60-I/Au(111) interaction. Two lattice structures, (2 square root 3 x 2 square root 3) R30 degrees and p(2 x 2), were imaged for this C 60 adlayer. For the first structure, a featureless ball-like molecular shape was imaged, ascribed to the molecular rotation resulting from a symmetrical location between C 60 and iodine atoms. For the p(2 x 2) structure, the asymmetrical location of C 60 with respect to the iodine atoms freezes the C 60 molecules on the substrate, leading to a clear image of intramolecular structure. The intermediate iodine atoms in the C 60/I/Au(111) adlayer can be desorbed by electrochemically reduction without significantly affecting the ordering of the C 60 adlayer. However, the internal pattern of C 60 disappears in the absence of iodine.  相似文献

Underpotential deposition (UPD) of Ag on Au(111) has been studied with two different electrolytes: aqueous 0.1 M H2SO4 solution in comparison with the ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride BMICl + AlCl3. Of particular interest is the distinct behavior of 2D phase formation at both interfaces, which has been investigated by cyclic and linear sweep voltammetry in combination with in situ electrochemical scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). It is found that one monolayer (ML) of Ag is formed in the UPD region in both electrolytes. In aqueous solution, atomically resolved STM images at 500 mV versus Ag/Ag+ show a (3 x 3) adlayer of Ag, whereas after sweeping the potential just before the commencement of the bulk Ag deposition, a transition from expanded (3 x 3) to pseudomorphic ML of Ag on Au(111) occurs. In BMICl-AlCl3, the first UPD process of Ag exhibits two peaks at 410 and 230 mV indicating that two distinct processes on the surface take place. For the first time, STM images with atomic resolution reveal a transition from an inhomogeneous to an ordered phase with a (square root of 3 x square root of 3)R30 degrees structure and an adsorption of AlCl4- anions having a superlattice of (1.65 x square root of 3)R30 degrees preceding the deposition of Ag.  相似文献

In situ scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) were employed to examine the underpotential deposition (UPD) of cadmium on a rhodium(111) electrode in sulfuric and hydrochloric acids. The (bi)sulfate and chloride anions in the electrolytes played a main role in controlling the number and arrangement of Cd adatoms. Deposition of Cd along with hydrogen adsorption occurred near 0.1 V (vs reversible hydrogen electrode) in either 0.05 M H2SO4 or 0.1 M HCl containing 1 mM Cd(ClO4)2. These coupled processes resulted in an erroneous coverage of Cd adatoms. The process of Cd deposition shifted positively to 0.3 V and thus separated from that of hydrogen in 0.05 M H2SO4 containing 0.5 M Cd2+. The amount of charge (80 microC/cm2) for Cd deposition in 0.5 M Cd2+ implied a coverage of 0.17 for the Cd adatoms, which agreed with in situ STM results. Regardless of [Cd2+], in situ STM imaging revealed a highly ordered Rh(111)-(6 x 6)-6Cd + HSO4- or SO42- structure in sulfuric acid,. In hydrochloric acid, in situ STM discerned a (2 x 2)-Cd + Cl structure at potentials where Cd deposition commenced. STM atomic resolution showed roughly one-quarter of a monolayer of Cd adatoms were deposited, ca. 50% more than in sulfuric acid. Dynamic in situ STM imaging showed potential dependent, reversible transformations between the (6 x 6) Cd adlattices and (square root 3 x square root 7)-(bi)sulfate structure, and between (2 x 2) and (square root 7 x square root 7)R19.1 degrees -Cl structures. The fact that different Cd structures observed in H2SO4 and HCl entailed the involvement of anions in Cd deposition, i.e. (bi)sulfate and chloride anions were codeposited with Cd adatoms on Rh(111).  相似文献

Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and low-energy electron diffraction were used to reveal the structures of ordered adlayers of [2+2]-type C60-C60 fullerene dimer (C120) and C60-C70 cross-dimer (C130) formed on Au(111) by immersingit in abenzene solution containing C120 or C130 molecules. High-resolution STM images clearly showed the packing arrangements and the electronic structures of C120 and C130 on the Au(111) surface in ultrahigh vacuum. The (2 square root3 x 4square root3)R30 degrees, (2square root3 x 5square root3)R30 degrees, and (7 x 7) structures were found for the C120 adlayer on the Au(111) surface, whereas C130 molecules were closely packed on the surface. Each C60 or C70 monomer cage was discerned in the STM image of a C130 molecule.  相似文献

Adlayers of cobalt(II) 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(alpha,alpha,alpha,alpha-2-pivalamidophenyl)porphyrin (CoTpivPP) were prepared by immersing either Au(111) or Au(100) substrate in a benzene solution containing CoTpivPP molecules, and they were investigated in 0.1 M HClO4 and 0.1 M H2SO4 by cyclic voltammetry and in situ scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). The adlayer structure and electrochemical properties of CoTpivPP are compared to those of 5,10,15,20-tetraphenyl-21H,23H-porphine cobalt(II) (CoTPP). Characteristic nanobelt arrays consisting of CoTpivPP molecules were produced on both Au(111) and Au(100) surfaces. The stability of the nanobelt arrays was controlled by manipulating the electrode potential. On the other hand, the formation of nanobelt arrays consisting of O2-adducted CoTpivPP molecules depended upon the crystallographic orientation of Au. The state of O2 trapped in the cavity of CoTpivPP was distinctly observed in STM images as a bright spot in the nanobelt array formed on reconstructed Au(100)-(hex) surface, but not on Au(111) surface. This result suggests that the arrangement of underlying Au atoms plays an important role in the formation of nanobelt arrays with the sixth ligand coordination.  相似文献

The formation of the sitting-atop (SAT) complexes of 5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin (H(2)tpp), 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-chlorophenyl)porphyrin (H(2)t(4-Clp)p), 5,10,15,20-tetramesitylporphyrin (H(2)tmp), and 2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octaethylporphyrin (H(2)oep) with the Cu(II) ion was spectrophotometrically confirmed in aqueous acetonitrile (AN), and the formation rates were determined as a function of the water concentration (C(W)). The decrease in the conditional first-order rate constants with the increasing C(W) was reproduced by taking into consideration the contribution of [Cu(H(2)O)(an)(5)](2+) in addition to [Cu(an)(6)](2+) to form the Cu(II)-SAT complexes. The second-order rate constants for the reaction of [Cu(an)(6)](2+) and [Cu(H(2)O)(an)(5)](2+) at 298 K were respectively determined as follows: (4.1 +/- 0.2) x 10(5) and (3.6 +/- 0.2) x 10(4) M(-1) s(-1) for H(2)tpp, (1.15 +/- 0.06) x 10(5) M(-1) s(-1) and negligible for H(2)t(4-Clp)p, and (4.8 +/- 0.3) x 10(3) and (1.3 +/- 0.3) x 10(2) M(-1) s(-1) for H(2)tmp. Since the reaction of H(2)oep was too fast to observe the reaction trace due to the dead time of 2 ms for the present stopped-flow technique, the rate constant was estimated to be greater than 1.5 x 10(6) M(-1) s(-1). According to the structure of the Cu(II)-SAT complexes determined by the fluorescent XAFS measurements, two pyrrolenine nitrogens of the meso-substituted porphyrins (H(2)tpp and H(2)tmp) bind to the Cu(II) ion with a Cu-N(pyr) distance of ca. 2.04 A, while those of the beta-pyrrole-substituted porphyrin (H(2)oep) coordinate with the corresponding bond distance of 1.97 A. The shorter distance of H(2)oep is ascribed to the flexibility of the porphyrin ring, and the much greater rate for the formation of the Cu(II)-SAT complex of H(2)oep than those for the meso-substituted porphyrins is interpreted as due to a small energetic loss at the porphyrin deformation step during the formation of the Cu(II)-SAT complex. The overall formation constants, beta(n), of [Cu(H(2)O)(n)()(an)(6)(-)(n)](2+) for the water addition in aqueous AN were spectrophotometrically determined at 298 K as follows: log(beta(1)/M(-1)) = 1.19 +/- 0.18, log(beta(2)/M(-2)) = 1.86 +/- 0.35, and log(beta(3)/M(-3)) = 2.12 +/- 0.57. The structure parameters around the Cu(II) ion in [Cu(H(2)O)(n)(an)(6-n)](2+) were determined using XAFS spectroscopy.  相似文献

The solutions of four meso-tetrakis(N-alkylpyridinium-4-yl)porphyrin salts and of the p-toluenesulfonate salt of meso-tetrakis(4-trimethylammoniumphenyl)porphyrin, in methanol, were studied by electrospray mass spectrometry, in order to investigate the influence of the type of counter ion, the length of the substituent N-alkyl groups of the four (N-alkylpyridinium-4-yl)porphyrins and the presence of an aromatic (alkylpyridinium) or aliphatic (trimethylammonium) nitrogen, in ion formation. In our experimental conditions, adducts with the counter ions were formed only for the meso-tetrakis(4-trimethylammoniumphenyl)porphyrin and were not observed for the other porphyrins, even when the counter ion was the same. In contrast, formation of reduced species, such as the [M(4+) + e(-)]3+, [M(4+) + 2e(-)]2+, [M(4+) + 4e(-) + 2H(+)]2+, and [M(4+) + 5e(-) + 2H(+)]+ ions was observed only for the (N-alkylpyridinium-4-yl)porphyrins and the appearance of these species is apparently solvent related and may occur via counter ion/solvent adducts.  相似文献

A first principles theory combined with a continuum electrolyte theory is applied to adsorption of sulfuric acid anions on Pt(111) in 0.1 M H(2)SO(4) solution. The theoretical free energy diagram indicates that sulfuric acid anions adsorb as bisulfate in the potential range of 0.41 < U ≤ 0.48 V (RHE) and as sulfate in 0.48 V (RHE) < U. This diagram also indicates that sulfate inhibits formations of surface oxide and hydroxide. Charge analysis shows that the total charge transferred for the formation of the full coverage sulfate adlayer is 90 μC cm(-2), and that the electrosorption valency value is -0.45 to -0.95 in 0.41 < U ≤ 0.48 V (RHE) and -1.75 to -1.85 in U > 0.48 V (RHE) in good agreement with experiments reported in the literature. Vibration analysis indicates that the vibration frequencies observed experimentally at 1250 and 950 cm(-1) can be assigned, respectively, to the S-O (uncoordinated) and symmetric S-O stretching modes for sulfate, and that the higher frequency mode has a larger potential-dependence (58 cm(-1) V(-1)) than the lower one.  相似文献

On the Ag(111)-p(4x4)-O surface SO2(g) reacts with oxygen according to SO2(g)+O(a)-->SO3(a). Sulfite forms in a (2 radical3x2 radical3)R30 degrees structure. The restructuring of the surface atoms during sulfite formation is indicative of the deconstruction of the p(4x4)-O structure. Heating the sulfite-covered surface to 700 K affects the disproportionation of SO3 to SO4 in a (4 square root of 3 x square root of 3)R30 degrees structure accompanied by the desorption of SO2(g) and smoothing of the surface. Continued heating beyond 700 K affects the complete decomposition of sulfate to SO2(g) and O2(g).  相似文献

In-situ scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and infrared reflection-adsorption spectroscopy (IRRAS) have been used to examine the electrodeposition of gold onto Pt(111) electrodes modified with benzenethiol (BT) and benzene-1,2-dithiol (BDT) in 0.1 M HClO4 containing 10 microM HAuCl4. Both BT and BDT were attached to Pt(111) via one sulfur headgroup. STM and IRRAS results indicated that the other SH group of BDT was pendant in the electrolyte. Both BT and BDT formed (2 x 2) structures at the coverage of 0.25, and they were transformed into (square root(3) x square root(3))R30 degrees as the coverage was raised to 0.33. These two organic surface modifiers resulted in 3D and 2D gold islands at BT- and BDT-coated Pt(111) electrodes, respectively. The pendant SH group of BDT could interact specifically with gold adspecies to immobilize gold adatoms on the Pt(111) substrate, which yields a 2D growth of gold deposition. Molecular resolution STM revealed an ordered array of (6 x 2 square root(13)) after a full monolayer of gold was plated on the BDT/Pt(111) electrode. Since BDT was strongly adsorbed on Pt(111), gold adatoms only occupied free sites between BDT admolecules on Pt(111). This is supported by a stripping voltammetric analysis, which reveals no reductive desorption of BDT admolecules at a gold-deposited BDT/Pt(111) electrode. It seems that the BDT adlayer acted as the template for gold deposit on Pt(111). In contrast, a BT adlayer yielded 3D gold deposit on Pt(111). This study demonstrates unambiguously that organic surface modifiers could contribute greatly to the electrodeposition of metal adatoms.  相似文献

The aggregation behaviors of meso-tetrakis(p-sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin (TPPS) in the function of metal ions and their counter anions (Cl(-), SO(4)(2-), and NO(3)(-)) were investigated by absorption, fluorescence spectroscopy and resonance scattering spectrum. It was shown that the TPPS J-aggregates could be effectively promoted by metal ions under lower ionic strength. Moreover, the prominent effects of counter ions (Cl(-), SO(4)(2-), and NO(3)(-)) on TPPS J- and/or H-aggregate formation at higher ionic strength were observed. These results suggested that the counter anions play a significant role in the formation of TPPS J- and/or H-aggregates and their conversion each other. Very interestingly, the absorption spectrum of metal ions investigated except for Co(2+) leaves a WINDOW from ca. 450 to 550nm centered at 490nm in which the absorption of Cu(2+) or Ni(2+) ions per se was very weak. The spectrum window might be really significant in avoiding possible spectrum interferences when porphyrins are chosen as spectrometric reagents for the determination of metal ions based on J-aggregation.  相似文献

Mixed adlayers of 2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octaethyl-21H,23H-porphine copper(II) (CuOEP) and cobalt(II) phthalocyanine (CoPc) were prepared by immersing Au(111) substrate in a benzene solution containing CuOEP and CoPc molecules, and they were investigated in 0.1 M HClO(4) by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and in-situ scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). The composition of the mixed adlayer consisting of CuOEP and CoPc molecules was found to vary depending on the immersion time. CoPc molecules displaced CuOEP molecules during the modification process with increasing immersion time, and the CuOEP molecules were completely replaced with CoPc molecules in the mixed solution after a long modification time. The two-component adlayer consisting of CuOEP and CoPc, which has a structure with the constituent molecules arranged alternately, was found to form either a p(9 x 3(square root)7R - 40.9 degrees) or a p(9 x 3(square root)7R - 19.1 degrees) structure, each involving two molecules on the Au(111) surface. The surface mobility and the molecular reorganization of CuOEP and CoPc were accelerated by modulation of the electrode potential. Different surface structures were produced at different electrode potentials, and hence potential modulation should allow a precisely controllable phase separation to take place in aqueous HClO(4).  相似文献

Adlayers of 15-crown-5-ether-substituted cobalt(II) phthalocyanine (CoCRPc) were prepared by immersion of either Au(111) or Au(100) substrate into benzene-ethanol (9:1 v/v) mixed solutions containing CoCRPc. In situ STM imaging was carried out after transferring the CoCRPc-modified Au crystals into aqueous HClO(4) solution. The packing arrangement of the CoCRPc array on Au(111) was determined to be p(8 x 4 radical 3R - 30 degrees ), and the internal structure was clearly observed by high-resolution STM. Two adlayer structures of CoCRPc, (8 x 9) and (4 radical 5 x 4 radical 5)R26.7 degrees, were found on the Au(100)-(1 x 1) terrace. In the presence of 1 mM Ca(2+), two Ca(2+) ions were trapped in two diagonally located 15-crown-5-ether moieties of each CoCRPc molecule on Au(111), whereas encapsulation of Ca(2+) ions was not seen in the CoCRPc arrays on the Au(100)-(1 x 1) surface. The present study demonstrates that the relationship between crown moieties of CRPc and the underlying Au lattice is important in the trapping of Ca(2+) ions in crown rings.  相似文献

The spectroscopic properties of the self-associated complexes formed between the anionic surface docking site of spinach plastocyanin and the cationic metalloporphyrins, in which the tyrosine 83 (Y83) moiety is placed just below the docking site, tetrakis(N-methyl-4-pyridyl)porphyrin (Pd(II)TMPyP(4+) and Zn(II)TMPyP(4+)), have been studied and reported herein. The fluorescence quenching phenomenon of the self-assembled complex of Zn(II)TMPyP(4+)/plastocyanin has also been discovered. The observed red-shifting of the Soret and Q-bands of the UV-visible spectra, ca. 9 nm for Pd(II)TMPyP(4+)/plastocyanin and ca. 6 nm for the Zn(II)TMPyP(4+)/plastocyanin complexes, was explained in terms of exciton theory coupled with the Gouterman model. Thus, the hydroxyphenyl terminus of the Y83 residue of the self-associated plastocyanin/cationic porphyrin complexes was implicated in the charge-transfer ligation with the central metal atoms of these metalloporphyrins. Moreover, ground-state spectrometric-binding studies between Pd(II)TMPyP(4+) and the Y83 mutant plastocyanin (Y83F-PC) system proved that Y83 moiety of plastocyanin played a critical role in the formation of such ion-pair complexes. Difference absorption spectra and the Job's plots showed that the electrostatic attractions between the cationic porphyrins and the anionic patch of plastocyanin, bearing the nearby Y83 residue, led to the predominant formation of a self-associated 1:1 complex in the ground-state with significantly high binding constants (K = (8.0 +/- 1.1) x 10(5) M(-1) and (2.7 +/- 0.8) x 10(6) M(-1) for Pd(II)TMPyP(4+) and zinc variant, respectively) in low ionic strength buffer, 1 mM KCl and 1 mM phosphate buffer (pH 7.4). Molecular modeling calculations supported the formation of a 1:1 self-associated complex between the porphyrin and plastocyanin with an average distance of ca. 9 A between the centers of mass of the porphyrin and Y83 positioned just behind the anionic surface docking site on the protein surface. The photoexcited singlet state of Zn(II)TMPyP(4+) was quenched by the Y83 residue of the self-associated plastocyanin in a static mechanism as evidenced by steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence experiments. Even when all the porphyrin was complexed (more than 97%), significant residual fluorescence from the complex was observed such that the amplitude of quenching of the singlet state of uncomplexed species was enormously obscured.  相似文献

The surface stress associated with the underpotential deposition (upd) of bismuth on (111)-textured Au is examined, using the wafer curvature method, in acidic perchlorate and nitrate supporting electrolyte. The surface stress is correlated to Bi coverage by independent nanogravimetric measurements using an electrochemical quartz crystal nanobalance. The mass increase measured in the presence of perchlorate is consistent with the (2 x 2) and (p x square root 3)-2Bi adlayers reported in the literature. ClO(4)(-) does not play a significant role in the upd process. The complete Bi monolayer causes an overall surface stress change of about -1.4 N m(-1). We attribute this compressive stress to the formation of Bi-Au bonds which partially satisfy the bonding requirements of the Au surface atoms, thereby reducing the tensile surface stress inherent to the clean Au surface. At higher Bi coverage, an additional contribution to the compressive stress is due to the electrocompression of the (p x square root 3)-2Bi adlayer. In nitric acid electrolyte, NO(3)(-) coadsorbs with Bi over the entire upd region but has little fundamental impact on adlayer structure and stress.  相似文献

The dynamics of adsorption and oxidation of CO on Ru(0001) electrode in sulfuric acid solution have been studied using in situ FTIR spectroscopy under potential control and at open circuit, the latter at 20 and 55 degrees C. The in situ IR data show clearly that the bisulfate anion adsorbs on the Ru(0001) surface over the potential range from -200 mV to 350 mV (vs. Ag/AgCl) at 20 degrees C in the absence and presence of adsorbed CO; however, increasing the temperature to 55 degrees C and/or increasing the concentration of dissolved O(2) reduces the bisulfate adsorption. The formation of surface (hydro-) oxide at higher potentials replaces the bisulfate adsorbates. Both linear (CO(L)) and three-fold hollow bonded CO (CO(H)) adsorbates were produced following CO adsorption at Ru(0001) in H(2)SO(4), as was observed in our previous studies in HClO(4). However, the amount of adsorbed CO observed in H(2)SO(4) was ca. 10% less than that in HClO(4); in addition, the CO(L) and CO(H) frequencies were higher in H(2)SO(4), and the onset potential for CO(ads) oxidation 25 mV lower. These new results are interpreted in terms of a model in which the adsorbed bisulfate weakens the CO adlayer, allowing the active Ru oxide layer to form at lower potentials. Significantly different results were observed at open circuit in H(2)SO(4) compared both to the data under potential control and to our earlier data in HClO(4), and these observations were rationalized in terms of the adsorbed HSO(4)(-) anions (pre-adsorbed at -200 mV) inhibiting the oxidation of the surface at open circuit (after stepping from the initial potential of -200 mV), as the latter was no longer driven by the imposed electrochemical potential but via chemical oxidation by trace dissolved O(2). Results from experiments at open circuit at 55 degrees C and using oxygen-saturated H(2)SO(4) supported this model. The difference in Ru surface chemistry between imposed electrochemical control and chemical control has potential implications with respect to fuel cell electrocatalysis.  相似文献

Results from first-principles calculations present a rather clear picture of the interaction of SO(2) with unreduced and partially reduced (111) and (110) surfaces of ceria. The Ce(3+)∕Ce(4+) redox couple, together with many oxidation states of S, give rise to a multitude of SO(x) species, with oxidation states from +III to +VI. SO(2) adsorbs either as a molecule or attaches via its S-atom to one or two surface oxygens to form sulfite (SO(3)(2-)) and sulfate (SO(4)(2-)) species, forming new S-O bonds but never any S-Ce bonds. Molecular adsorption is found on the (111) surface. SO(3)(2-) structures are found on both the (111) and (110) surfaces of both stoichiometric and partially reduced ceria. SO(4)(2-) structures are observed on the (110) surface together with the formation of two reduced Ce(3+) surface cations. SO(2) can also partially heal the ceria oxygen vacancies by weakening a S-O bond, when significant electron transfer from the surface (Ce4f) into the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital of the SO(2) adsorbate takes place and oxidizes the surface Ce(3+) cations. Furthermore, we propose a mechanism that could lead to monodentate sulfate formation at the (111) surface.  相似文献
