We model the gravitational behaviour of a radiating star when the exterior geometry is the generalised Vaidya spacetime. The interior matter distribution is shear-free and undergoing radial heat flow. The exterior energy momentum tensor is a superposition of a null fluid and a string fluid. An analysis of the junction conditions at the stellar surface shows that the pressure at the boundary depends on the interior heat flux and the exterior string density. The results for a relativistic radiating star undergoing nonadiabatic collapse are obtained as a special case. For a particular model we demonstrate that the radiating fluid sphere collapses without the appearance of the horizon at the boundary.  相似文献

We discuss a set of static metrics with cylindrical symmetry describing the interior and exterior space-time of a model of cosmic strings considered recently in cosmology. The interior metric depends on one arbitrary function and the exterior on one constant. We find the relation between this constant and the linear mass density of the cosmic string. A cosmic string can be also treated as a line source in the framework of the distribution-valued curvature formalism which allows us to obtain again the same relation.  相似文献

We obtain an approximate global stationary and axisymmetric solution of Einstein’s equations which can be considered as a simple star model: a self-gravitating perfect fluid ball with constant mass density rotating in rigid motion. Using the post-Minkowskian formalism (weak-field approximation) and considering rotation as a perturbation (slow-rotation approximation), we find second-order approximate interior and exterior (asymptotically flat) solutions to this problem in harmonic and quo-harmonic coordinates. In both cases, interior and exterior solutions are matched, in the sense of Lichnerowicz, on the surface of zero pressure to obtain a global solution. The resulting metric depends on three arbitrary constants: mass density, rotational velocity and the star radius at the non-rotation limit. The mass, angular momentum, quadrupole moment and other constants of the exterior metric are determined by these three parameters. It is easy to check that Kerr’s metric cannot be the exterior part of that metric.  相似文献

The Kramer radiating star uses the interior Schwarzschild solution as a seed solution to generate a model of dissipative collapse. We investigate the thermal behaviour of the radiating star by employing a causal heat transport equation. The causal temperature is explicitly determined for the first time by integrating the transport equation. We further show that the dissipation of energy to the exterior space-time renders the core more unstable than the cooler surface layers.  相似文献

Baryon inhomogeneities generated during the quark-hadron transition may alter the abundances of light elements if they persist up to the time of nucleosynthesis. These inhomogeneities survive up to the nucleosynthesis epoch if they are separated by a distance of at least a few metres. In this work we present a model where large sheets of these inhomogeneities separated by a distance of a few km are formed by cosmic string wakes during the quark-hadron transition. The effect of these sheets on nucleosynthesis will also put constraints on the various cosmic string parameters.  相似文献

We model the dynamics of a spherically symmetric radiating dynamical star with three spacetime regions. The local internal atmosphere is a two-component system consisting of standard pressure-free, null radiation and an additional string fluid with energy density and nonzero pressure obeying all physically realistic energy conditions. The middle region is purely radiative which matches to a third region which is the Schwarzschild exterior. A large family of solutions to the field equations are presented for various realistic equations of state. We demonstrate that it is possible to obtain solutions via a direct integration of the second order equations resulting from the assumption of an equation of state. A comparison of our solutions with earlier well known results is undertaken and we show that all these solutions, including those of Husain, are contained in our family. We then generalise our class of solutions to higher dimensions. Finally we consider the effects of diffusive transport and transparently derive the specific equations of state for which this diffusive behaviour is possible.  相似文献

We establish the result that the standard Boulware–Deser spacetime can radiate. This allows us to model the dynamics of a spherically symmetric radiating dynamical star in five-dimensional Einstein–Gauss–Bonnet gravity with three spacetime regions. The local internal region is a two-component system consisting of standard pressure-free, null radiation and an additional string fluid with energy density and nonzero pressure obeying all physically realistic energy conditions. The middle region is purely radiative which matches to a third region which is the vacuum Boulware–Deser exterior. Our approach allows for all three spacetime regions to be modeled by the same class of metric functions. A large family of solutions to the field equations are presented for various realistic equations of state. A comparison of our solutions with earlier well known results is undertaken and we show that Einstein–Gauss–Bonnet analogues of these solutions, including those of Husain, are contained in our family. We also generalise our results to higher dimensions.  相似文献

We obtain an approximate global stationary and axisymmetric solution of Einstein’s equations which can be thought of as a simple star model: a self-gravitating perfect fluid ball with a differential rotation motion pattern. Using the post-Minkowskian formalism (weak-field approximation) and considering rotation as a perturbation (slow-rotation approximation), we find approximate interior and exterior (asymptotically flat) solutions to this problem in harmonic coordinates. Interior and exterior solutions are matched, in the sense described by Lichnerowicz, on the surface of zero pressure, to obtain a global solution. The resulting metric depends on four arbitrary constants: mass density; rotational velocity at \(r=0\); a parameter that accounts for the change in rotational velocity through the star; and the star radius in the non-rotation limit. The mass, angular momentum, quadrupole moment and other constants of the exterior metric are determined in terms of these four parameters.  相似文献

Static spherically symmetric space-time is studied to describe dense compact star with quark matter within the framework of MIT Bag Model. The system of Einstein’s field equations for anisotropic matter is expressed as a new system of differential equations using transformations and it is solved for a particular general form of gravitational potential with parameters. For a particular parameter, as an example, it is shown that the model satisfies all major physical features expected in a realistic star. The generated model also smoothly matches with the Schwarzschild exterior metric at the boundary of the star. It is shown that the generated solutions are useful to model strange quark stars.  相似文献

We find that vacuum string solutions cannot be embedded in an FRW model in the spirit of the swiss cheese model for inhomogeneities. Since all standard lensing calculations rely implicitly on the Swiss Cheese model, this result indicates that the previous lensing results for the vacuum string may be in error.  相似文献

We obtain systematic approximations for the modes of vibration of a string of variable density, which is held fixed at its ends. These approximations are obtained iteratively applying three theorems which are proved in the paper and which hold regardless of the inhomogeneity of the string. Working on specific examples we obtain very accurate approximations which are compared both with the results of WKB method and with the numerical results obtained with a collocation approach. Finally, we show that the asymptotic behaviour of the energies of the string obtained with perturbation theory, worked to second order in the inhomogeneities, agrees with that obtained with the WKB method and implies a different functional dependence on the density that in two and higher dimensions.  相似文献

The possible tensor constructions of open string theories are analyzed from first principles. To this end the algebraic framework of open string field theory is clarified, including the role of the homotopy associative A algebra, the odd symplectic structure, cyclicity, star conjugation, and twist. It is also shown that two string theories are off-shell equivalent if the corresponding homotopy associative algebras are homotopy equivalent in a strict sense. It is demonstrated that a homotopy associative star algebra with a compatible even bilinear form can be attached to an open string theory. If this algebra does not have a space-time interpretation, positivity and the existence of a conserved ghost number require that its cohomology is at degree zero, and that it has the structure of a direct sum of full matrix algebras. The resulting string theory is shown to be physically equivalent to a string theory with a familiar open string gauge group.  相似文献

The general dynamical equations for perfect fluid filled spheres with an outward flux of photons are derived. The vital role played by the energy density of the free gravitational field in accelerating photon production has been emphasized. It is pointed out that even when the material energy density is finite, the energy density of the free gravitational field can take infinitely large values resulting in vanishing surface area of the star. A generalized Schwarzschild interior solution with conformally flat geometry but with photon emission has been obtained. It is pointed out that the interior conformal coordinate system bears a strong resemblance to the exterior Krushkal coordinates. It is shown that for spherical star the invariant velocity of the fluid particles, falling towards the centre, is proportional to its radius suggesting that the outer envelopes collapse at a faster rate than the core part. It is shown that the interior radiating solution can be matched with generalized Schwarzchild exterior solution.  相似文献

The Hamilton-Jacobi equation for string cosmology is solved using the gradient expansion method. The zero order solution is taken to be the standard pre-big bang model and the second order solution is found for the dilaton and the three-metric. It indicates that corrections generated by inhomogeneities of the seed metric are suppressed near the singularity and are growing towards the asymptotic past, but corrections generated by the dilaton inhomogeneities are growing near the singularity and are suppressed in the past. Possible influences of initial metric inhomogeneities on the pre-big bang superinflation are discussed.  相似文献

In present paper, a static, spherically symmetric, anisotropic stellar object has been discussed by assuming a linear relationship between the matter density ρ and radial pressure pr. The interior solution is continuously matched with the exterior Schwarzschild vacuum solution at the junction interface. Various physical features viz. energy conditions, mass-radius relationship, stability are analyzed for our stellar model. By assigning some particular value to the arbitrary constants we have obtained a model of compact star of radius 6.7 km. and mass 1.148 M⊙, which is very close to the observational data of the compact star Her X-1 proposed by Rawls et al.[Rawls, et al., Astrophys. J. 730 (2011) 25]. We have obtained that the model satisfies all the regularity conditions. We have found that our proposed model is stable as well as singularity-free.  相似文献

A new model is proposed to a collapsing star consisting of an initial inhomogeneous energy density and anisotropic pressure fluid with shear, radial heat flow and outgoing radiation. In previous papers one of us has always assumed an initial star with homogeneous energy density. The aim of this work is to generalize the previous models by introducing an initial inhomogeneous energy density and compare it to the initial homogeneous energy density collapse model. We will show the differences between these models in the evolution of all physical quantities that characterizes the gravitational collapse. The behavior of the energy density, pressure, mass, luminosity and the effective adiabatic index is analyzed. The pressure of the star, at the beginning of the collapse, is isotropic but due to the presence of the shear the pressure becomes more and more anisotropic. The black hole is never formed because the apparent horizon formation condition is never satisfied, in contrast of the previous model where a black hole is formed. An observer at infinity sees a radial point source radiating exponentially until reaches the time of maximum luminosity and suddenly the star turns off. In contrast of the former model where the luminosity also increases exponentially, reaching a maximum and after it decreases until the formation of the black hole. The effective adiabatic index is always positive without any discontinuity in contrast of the former model where there is a discontinuity around the time of maximum luminosity. The collapse is about three thousand times slower than in the case where the energy density is initially homogeneous.  相似文献

Casimir–Polder potential is investigated for a polarizable microparticle in the geometry of a straight cosmic string with a metallic cylindrical shell. The electromagnetic field Green tensor is evaluated on the imaginary frequency axis. The expressions for the Casimir–Polder potential is derived in the general case of anisotropic polarizability for the both interior and exterior regions of the shell. The potential is decomposed into pure string and shell-induced parts. The latter dominates for points near the shell, whereas the pure string part is dominant near the string and at large distances from the shell. For the isotropic case and in the region inside the shell the both pure string and shell-induced parts in the Casimir–Polder force are repulsive with respect to the string. In the exterior region the shell-induced part of the force is directed toward the cylinder whereas the pure string part remains repulsive with respect to the string. At large distances from the shell the total force is repulsive.  相似文献
