Parametric resonance phenomena are investigated in a plasma layer with thickness d and thin inhomogeneous boundary regions. The modulated UHF electric field is parallel to the plasma layer. We consider both strong and low modulation of the field amplitude and suppose, that the carrier frequency ω0 of the pump wave is much larger than the Langmuir frequency ωLe. We find the region for the modulation frequency ω, in which the parametric growing of the asymmetric and symmetric surface waves occurs. The maximum growth rates of these waves, the direction of their propagation and the threshold value of the modulation depth α of the UHF pump field are calculation.  相似文献

In communication processes, amplitude modulation is very helpful to save power using a single band transmission. Using the hydrodynamical model of semiconductor plasma analytical investigations are made for the amplitude modulation as well as demodulation of an electromagnetic wave incorporating carrier heating (CH) effects in acousto-optic magnetised semiconductor plasma. The CH effects add new dimensions in the present analysis. Analysis are made under different wave number regions over a wide range of cyclotron frequencies. It is found that incorporation of CH effects modifies the amplitude modulation and demodulation processes effectively. Numerical estimations are made for III–V semiconductor crystal irradiated by pump wave of frequency 1.6×1013 s?1. Complete absorption of the waves takes place in all the possible wavelength regimes when the cyclotron frequency ωc becomes nearly equal to ω0, the pump frequency on neglecting the collision term in modulation/ demodulation indices.  相似文献

本文用磁流体理论导出了热电子等离子体中,等离子体密度梯度驱动的低频漂移波的色散关系,分析了热电子的稳定作用。热电子成分稳定等离子体低频扰动的物理机制是charge uncovering效应,它只依赖于热电子同等离子体的密度比α,而不依赖于热电子的β值。热电子能降低等离子体交换模和漂移波的增长率,减少漂移波引起的等离子体反常输运损失。稳定等离子体交换模要求α≈2%,稳定等离子体漂移波要求α≈40%。理论上预示了在热电子等离子体中,等离子体漂移波是最重要的低频不稳定性。 关键词:  相似文献

Two plasma resonance bands were simultaneously observed in granular indium films deposited on rough surfaces of NaCl and KCl single crystals; one of them is caused by a combined action of the light-wave field and of the field created by the dipole grains, and the other, by the light-wave field alone with the frequency of natural electron oscillations ω0 in the grains. The indium plasma frequency, calculated from the measured frequencies ω0 and known dielectric constants of NaCl and KCl, agrees well with the known plasma frequency of bulk indium. An anisotropy in the plasma resonance band of granular indium films deposited on a rough NaCl surface was found and interpreted.  相似文献

Surface instability of a collisionless semi-infinite current carrying plasma is studied. The semi-infinite plasma bounded by a plane surface is under the influence of a high frequency (hf) field. There are two classes of surface modes. One is a normal extension of zero high frequency field and the other due entirely to the presence ofhf field. As expected, with the increase in thehf field, the growth rates of the surface instabilities decrease. There are regions defined by the electron drift velocityu where the unstable surface and bulk regions overlap. The interesting result is that unlike the bulk plasma, there is a stable region on theu-axis flanked by two unstable regions. The width of this stable region increases with the increase in the field strength.  相似文献

We present the results of studying the properties of artificial F-spread that appears on ionograms during heating of the ionospheric F2 region by a high-power O-mode radio wave. It is shown that the regions of resonant interaction of a high-power radio wave with plasma, where the pump-wave energy is almost totally absorbed and the plasma is subject to intense heating, affect significantly the development of a self-focusing instability of a high-power radio wave and the generation of middle-scale (with characteristic scales across the magnetic field l ≈ 0.4–1.5 km) artifical ionospheric inhomogeneities. It is established that the intensity of such inhomogeneities depends on the sign and magnitude of detuning of the pump-wave frequency with respect to the electron gyroresonance harmonic frequency Δf = fPW − nfce and has the minimum value for Δf ≈ −20 kHz, thus demonstrating the asymmetry of the gyroharmonic properties of their excitation mechanism. Alternative mechanisms of generation of the stimulated electromagnetic emission (SEE) excited in the ionosphere by high-power radio waves are analyzed on the basis of measurements of the SEE spectra obtained during the pump-wave frequency sweeping near the forth (n = 4) and fifth (n = 5) harmonics of the electron gyrofrequency nfce [1] and their comparison with the existing physical models. A method for determination of the magnetic field strength and plasma density near the double-resonance region in the ionosphere is developed. It is shown that the generation of the broad upshifted maximum (BUM) feature in the SEE spectrum should occur several kilometers below the double-resonance altitude. A role of high-frequency plasma modes and small-scale magnetic field-aligned irregularities, excited under ionosphere pumping by a high-power radio wave, in the formation of SEE spectra is demonstrated. It is shown that the difference in the emission intensities for f0 ≲ nfce and f0 > nfce is related to different regions (altitudes) at which the plasma waves exist in these cases. 将电子注视为等离子体柱,从填充等离子体柱的谐振腔的物理模型出发,推导了圆柱腔填充中心电子注时TM0m0模式的特征方程,并重点分析了填充电子注的圆柱腔中TM010模式和TM020模式的谐振频率和电磁场分布随等离子频率的变化情况。研究结果表明,随着电子注的等离子体频率不断增大,谐振频率也不断增大,谐振腔内电场和磁场的分布也随之发生改变。当电子注的等离子体频率超过谐振腔的谐振频率时,谐振腔内的电磁场分布将发生很大的变化,出现了电子注内外电场方向相反和趋肤效应等现象。  相似文献

We have theoretically explored the negative refraction (NR) in one-dimensional plasma photonic crystals (PCs) consisting of plasma and dielectric materials. By using the transfer matrix method and Bloch theorem, we have studied the group velocity and we have obtained the NR in plasma PCs with the help of the group velocity. The results show that plasma PCs can also exhibit the NR although they have a periodically modulated positive permittivity ? and permeability μ. It is also shown that the NR in plasma PCs exhibits difference behaviour in different frequency regions, ω < ωp and ω > ωp, respectively. The parameter dependence of the effects is also examined and discussed.  相似文献

Dispersion properties of two types of two-dimensional periodically magnetized plasma array structures with square lattices have been investigated by using plane wave expansion method. It is found that two different regions of flatbands and photonic band gaps occur in the TE polarization due to the external magnetic field. The two types of system can be seen as a kind of unusual plasma photonic crystals. The results show that not only the location of flatbands but also the position and bandwidth of photonic band gaps can be tuned by external magnetic field. The cutoff frequency decreases as external magnetic field increases. The edge of two different of flatbands regions and cutoff frequency shift downward to lower frequencies obviously with increasing plasma collision frequency, while they shift upward to higher frequencies notably with increasing plasma frequency. The filling factor has little effect on the location of flatbands regions. The width of flatbands regions and photonic band gaps are almost unchanged by increasing filling factor, but the number of ominidirectional photonic band gap for type-1 structure plasma photonic crystals can be effectively controlled by adjusting filling factor. It is worth to be noted that the first band gaps above the cutoff frequencies in ГX and ГM direction for two types of PPCs can be modulated by the parameters as mentioned above, and the relative bandwidth of band gap in ГX direction is wider than the one in ГM direction. The results may provide theoretical instructions to design new tunable photonic crystals devices.  相似文献

The effect of electron-neutral collisions on the high frequency spectrum of laser radiation scattered by the free electrons of a plasma is investigated for a partially ionized H2 are plasma at atmospheric pressure. The calculations are carried out along Gorog's theory solving the linearized Boltzmann equation for electrons with a collision term. The collision integral is approximated by a Krook relaxation model with the collision frequency determined from experimental electron-atom scattering data. The collisions influence size, half width, and position of the high frequency satellites. In a H2 arc plasma, the change of the satellites' position is negligible as well as the change in half width within experimentally attainable error limits. The change of size is of minor importance, since the general evaluation procedure uses only normalized scattering intensities. Thus, for laser scattering experiments in are plasmas the collision-free theory can be applied.  相似文献

The study presents the characterization of a novel variable frequency (11–50 kHz) Atmospheric Pressure Plasma Jet (APPJ) source and comparison of the results with 13.56 MHz source, in terms of species generation and species temperature. The behavior of variable frequency APPJ at different frequency regimes was investigated using optical emission spectroscopy to understand the interaction with the ambient environment. The quantitative dependence of the radical generation on driving frequency and time of treatment was also analyzed by direct synthesis of H2O2 by plasma-water interaction. The plasma formed with a kHz driving frequency had a low treatment temperature, which was suitable for biological species, but the plasma generated with a 13.56 MHz driving frequency had a substantially higher radical density than the kHz plasma. As a result, the APPJ device's ability to tune the radical density and treatment temperature with a change in kHz frequency has been demonstrated.  相似文献

Experimental evidence of parametric excitation, by an intense external H.F. field, of an electron surface mode and an ion wave is presented. The pumping electromagnetic energy density is equal to or slightly larger than the thermal energy density of the electrons. The value of fpc/f0 (electron plasma frequency/external field frequency) is that for an electron surface wave. Depending on the pressure and field intensity, this decay instability can lead to three types of low frequency oscillations, with frequencies close to the ion plasma frequency. Two of these are described by Aliev and Silin's intense field theory: one is the volume ion plasma oscillation and the other a surface ion plasma oscillation. The third corresponds to no known ion eigenmode. Several other features of the theory by Aliev and co-workers are also confirmed experimentally, such as the harmonic excitation of the instability (nf0fpe/√2, where n is an integer), the instability amplitude as a function of fpe/f0 (above threshold conditions), the value of the mismatch parameter as a function of field strength and ion mass, and the existence of a fine structure corresponding to the symmetric and antisymmetric electron surface oscillations. Even at high pump field strengths, the decay products are nearly monochromatic i.e. the plasma does not become turbulent.  相似文献

Granular silver films deposited on rough NaCl and KCl single-crystal surfaces exhibit, besides the low-frequency plasma-resonance band induced by the light-wave field and the field generated by the grain dipoles, a second, high-frequency plasma-resonance band, which is excited only by the light-wave field at the frequency ω0 of the natural electron vibrations in the grains. The dielectric constant due to interband transitions was calculated from the known plasma frequency and the dielectric constant of the medium surrounding thegrains, the plasma frequency ωp of the granular films, and the measured frequency of the maximum of surface plasmon vibrations in solid films. The results obtained agree with the data quoted by other authors.  相似文献

The two-dimensional (axisymmetric) equilibrium of a modulated electron beam (sequence of bunches) in a magnetoactive plasma under resonance conditions, when the frequency of modulation of the beam M is close to (less than) the plasma frequency p, is studied. The field of the collective electrostatic wave, focusing the bunches, is compensated by the thermal repulsion of the beam electrons. Based on the solutions obtained, it is established that the external magnetic field has a twofold effect on the equilibrium beam: first, to a weakening of the radial component of the focusing field because of the appearance of anisotropy in the dielectric permittivity tensor of the plasma and, second, an additional radial focusing of the bunches when they are rotated by the Lorentz force. Characteristic equation for the cylindrical TM010-microwave plasma cavity is given. Analytical expression and perturbation formula for the resonant frequency of TM010 mode dependence of plasma are derived. A comparison between exact and approximate solution shows that the perturbation theory can be used accurately to analyze the detuning of the cavity caused by microwave plasma with a tolerance less than 5%.  相似文献

We analyze excitation of electron-cyclotron or upper hybrid oscillations of the ionospheric plasma at a frequency that is close to the pump frequency as a result of induced scattering of a high-power radio wave with extraordinary polarization by ions. The excited oscillations have a small wavelength of the order of the Larmor electron radius, which allows them to propagate near and below the reflection level of an extraordinary radio wave. We found the instability increment and threshold field, which results from collisional absorption of plasma waves. It is shown that the threshold field is minimal near the reflection level of an extraordinary radio wave when the radio wave frequency f0 is between electron harmonics nfBe with n≥2. In an ionospheric F layer it is of the order of 1 W/m. Such fields are easily obtained in ionospheric heating experiments allowing for radio-wave field swelling in the reflection region. In the vicinity of electron harmonics fo≅nfBe, the threshold field is increasing. For fo<nfBe with fo≅nfBe the instability does not develop because of the absence of plasma oscillations with a frequency that is close to the pump frequency (the latter also refers to the case fo<2fBe). The expressions obtained are generalized to the case in which the instability under consideration is excited by the field of an ordinary radio wave in the region of its quasilongitudinal propagation. We discuss the possibility of using the emergence of very short-wave plasma oscillations for explaining the experimentally observed phenomena.
