LetX G,H denote the Cayley graph of a finite groupG with respect to a subsetH. It is well-known that its automorphism groupA(XG,H) must contain the regular subgroupL G corresponding to the set of left multiplications by elements ofG. This paper is concerned with minimizing the index [A(XG,H)LG] for givenG, in particular when this index is always greater than 1. IfG is abelian but not one of seven exceptional groups, then a Cayley graph ofG exists for which this index is at most 2. Nearly complete results for the generalized dicyclic groups are also obtained.  相似文献

Necessary and sufficient conditions for simplicity of a general skew group ring A ?σ G are not known. In this article, we show that a skew group ring A ?σ G, of an abelian group G, is simple if and only if its centre is a field and A is G-simple. As an application, we show that a transformation group (X, G), where X is a compact Hausdorff space acted upon by an abelian group G, is minimal and faithful if and only if its associated skew group algebra C(X) ?σ G is simple.  相似文献

For a scale mixture of normal vector, X=A1/2G, where XG n and A is a positive variable, independent of the normal vector G, we obtain that the conditional variance covariance, Cov(X2 X1), is always finite a.s. for m2, where X1 n and m<n, and remains a.s. finite even for m=1, if and only if the square root moment of the scale factor is finite. It is shown that the variance is not degenerate as in the Gaussian case, but depends upon a function SAm(·) for which various properties are derived. Application to a uniform and stable scale of normal distributions are also given.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group andA be a normal subgroup ofG. We denote by ncc(A) the number ofG-conjugacy classes ofA andA is calledn-decomposable, if ncc(A)= n. SetK G = {ncc(A)|A ⊲ G}. LetX be a non-empty subset of positive integers. A groupG is calledX-decomposable, ifK G =X. Ashrafi and his co-authors [1-5] have characterized theX-decomposable non-perfect finite groups forX = {1, n} andn ≤ 10. In this paper, we continue this problem and investigate the structure ofX-decomposable non-perfect finite groups, forX = {1, 2, 3}. We prove that such a group is isomorphic to Z6, D8, Q8, S4, SmallGroup(20, 3), SmallGroup(24, 3), where SmallGroup(m, n) denotes the mth group of ordern in the small group library of GAP [11].  相似文献

Let (X, F) be an Alexandroff space, let A(F) be the Boolean subalgebra of 2 X generated by F, let G be a Hausdorff commutative topological lattice group and let rbaF(A(F), G) denote the set of all order bounded F-inner regular finitely additive set functions from A(F) into G. Using some special properties of the elements of rbaF(A(F), G), we extend to this setting the first decomposition theorem of Alexandroff.  相似文献

A graph G is stratified if its vertex set is partitioned into classes, called strata. If there are k strata, then G is k-stratified. These graphs were introduced to study problems in VLSI design. The strata in a stratified graph are also referred to as color classes. For a color X in a stratified graph G, the X-eccentricity e X(v) of a vertex v of G is the distance between v and an X-colored vertex furthest from v. The minimum X-eccentricity among the vertices of G is the X-radius radX G of G and the maximum X-eccentricity is the X-diameter diamX G. It is shown that for every three positive integers a, b and k with ab, there exist a k-stratified graph G with radX G = a and diamX G = b. The number s X denotes the minimum X-eccetricity among the X-colored vertices of G. It is shown that for every integer t with radX G t diamX G, there exist at least one vertex v with e X(v) = t; while if radX G t s X, then there are at least two such vertices. The X-center C X(G) is the subgraph induced by those vertices v with e X(v) = radX G and the X-periphery P X (G) is the subgraph induced by those vertices v with e X(G) = diamX G. It is shown that for k-stratified graphs H 1, H 2,..., H k with colors X 1, X 2,..., X k and a positive integer n, there exists a k-stratified graph G such that C X i(G) H i (1 ; i ; k1) and for i j. Those k-stratified graphs that are peripheries of k-stratified graphs are characterized. Other distance-related topics in stratified graphs are also discussed.  相似文献

Let A be a subgroup of a group G and X be a nonempty subset of G. A is said to be X-semipermutable in G if A has a supplement T in G such that A is X-permutable with every subgroup of T. In this paper, we investigate further the influence of X-semipermutability of some subgroups on the structure of finite groups. Some new criteria for a group G to be supersoluble or p-nilpotent are obtained. This work was supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China (Grant Nos. 10771172, 10771180)  相似文献

For a graph A and a positive integer n, let nA denote the union of n disjoint copies of A; similarly, the union of ?0 disjoint copies of A is referred to as ?0A. It is shown that there exist (connected) graphs A and G such that nA is a minor of G for all n??, but ?0A is not a minor of G. This supplements previous examples showing that analogous statements are true if, instead of minors, isomorphic embeddings or topological minors are considered. The construction of A and G is based on the fact that there exist (infinite) graphs G1, G2,… such that Gi is not a minor of Gj for all ij. In contrast to previous examples concerning isomorphic embeddings and topological minors, the graphs A and G presented here are not locally finite. The following conjecture is suggested: for each locally finite connected graph A and each graph G, if nA is a minor of G for all n ? ?, then ?0A is a minor of G, too. If true, this would be a far‐reaching generalization of a classical result of R. Halin on families of disjoint one‐way infinite paths in graphs. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Let X be a nonempty subset of a group G. We call a subgroup A of G an Xmsemipermutable subgroup of G if A has a minimal supplement T in G such that for every maximal subgroup M of any Hall subgroup T1 of T there exists an element xX such that AMx = MxA. In this paper, we study the structure of finite groups with some given systems of Xm‐semipermutable subgroups (© 2010 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

We define a rank variety for a module of a noncocommutative Hopf algebra A = L \rtimes GA = \Lambda \rtimes G where L = k[X1, ..., Xm]/(X1l, ..., Xml), G = (\mathbbZ/l\mathbbZ)m\Lambda = k[X_1, \dots, X_m]/(X_1^{\ell}, \dots, X_m^{\ell}), G = (\mathbb{Z}/\ell\mathbb{Z})^m and char k does not divide ℓ, in terms of certain subalgebras of A playing the role of “cyclic shifted subgroups”. We show that the rank variety of a finitely generated module M is homeomorphic to the support variety of M defined in terms of the action of the cohomology algebra of A. As an application we derive a theory of rank varieties for the algebra Λ. When ℓ=2, rank varieties for Λ-modules were constructed by Erdmann and Holloway using the representation theory of the Clifford algebra. We show that the rank varieties we obtain for Λ-modules coincide with those of Erdmann and Holloway.  相似文献

Let X= A 1/2 G be a scale mixture of a multivariate normal distribution with X, G n , Gis a multivariate normal vector, and A is a positive random variable independent of the multivariate random vector G. This study presents asymptotic results of the conditional variance-covariance, Cov(X 2|X 1), X 1 m , m < n, under some moment expressions. A new representation form is also presented for conditional expectation of the scale variable on the random vector X 1 m , m < n. Both the asymptotic expression and the representation are manageable and in computable form. Finally, an example is presented to illustrate how the computations are carried out.  相似文献

If X is a geodesic metric space and x 1, x 2, x 3X, a geodesic triangle T = {x 1, x 2, x 3} is the union of the three geodesics [x 1 x 2], [x 2 x 3] and [x 3 x 1] in X. The space X is δ-hyperbolic (in the Gromov sense) if any side of T is contained in a δ-neighborhood of the union of the two other sides, for every geodesic triangle T in X. If X is hyperbolic, we denote by δ(X) the sharp hyperbolicity constant of X, i.e. δ(X) = inf{δ ≥ 0: X is δ-hyperbolic}. In this paper we characterize the product graphs G 1 × G 2 which are hyperbolic, in terms of G 1 and G 2: the product graph G 1 × G 2 is hyperbolic if and only if G 1 is hyperbolic and G 2 is bounded or G 2 is hyperbolic and G 1 is bounded. We also prove some sharp relations between the hyperbolicity constant of G 1 × G 2, δ(G 1), δ(G 2) and the diameters of G 1 and G 2 (and we find families of graphs for which the inequalities are attained). Furthermore, we obtain the precise value of the hyperbolicity constant for many product graphs.  相似文献

It is shown that: (1) any action of a Moscow group G on a first countable, Dieudonné complete (in particular, on a metrizable) space X can uniquely be extended to an action of the Dieudonné completion γG on X, (2) any action of a locally pseudocompact topological group G on a b f -space (in particular, on a first countable space) X can uniquely be extended to an action of the Weil completion on the Dieudonné completion γX of X. As a consequence, we obtain that, for each locally pseudocompact topological group G, every G-space with the b f -property admits an equivariant embedding into a compact Hausdorff G-space. Furthermore, for each pseudocompact group G, every metrizable G-space has a G-invariant metric compatible with its topology. We also give a direct construction of such an invariant metric. Let A be a subgroup of a group G and X a nonempty subset of G.A is called an X- semipermutable subgroup of G if A has a supplement T in G such that for every subgroup T_1 of T there exists an clement x∈X such that AT_i~x=T_i~xA.On the basis of this concept we obtain some new characterizations of finite supersoluble groups.  相似文献

Abstract

Let A be a commutative ring with identity, let X, Y be indeterminates and let F(X,Y), G(X, Y) ∈ A[X, Y] be homogeneous. Then the pair F(X, Y), G(X, Y) is said to be radical preserving with respect to A if Rad((F(x, y), G(x, y))R) = Rad((x,y)R) for each A-algebra R and each pair of elements x, y in R. It is shown that infinite sequences of pairwise radical preserving polynomials can be obtained by homogenizing cyclotomic polynomials, and that under suitable conditions on a ?-graded ring A these can be used to produce an infinite set of homogeneous prime ideals between two given homogeneous prime ideals P ? Q of A such that ht(Q/P) = 2.  相似文献

It is proved that ifX is a connected locally continuumwise connected coanalytic nowhere topologically complete space, then the hyperspace 2 X of all nonempty compact subsets ofX is strongly universal in the class of all coanalytic spaces. Moreover, 2 X is homeomorphic to Π2 ifX is a Baire space, and toQ∖Π1 ifX contains a dense absoluteG δ-setGX such that the intersectionGU is connected for any open connectedUX. (Here Π1, Π1X are the standard subsets of the Hilbert cubeQ absorbing for the classes of analytic and coanalytic spaces, respectively.) Similar results are obtained for higher projective classes. LetA be a Hopf algebra with bijective antipode andB⊃A a right coideal subalgebra ofA. Formally, the inclusionB⊃A defines a quotient mapG→X whereG is a quantum group andX a right homogeneousG-space. From an algebraic point of view theG-spaceX only has good properties ifA is left (or right) faithfully flat as a module overB. In the last few years many interesting examples of quantumG-spaces for concrete quantum groupsG have been constructured by Podleś, Noumi, Dijkhuizen and others (as analogs of classical compact symmetric spaces). In these examplesB consists of infinitesimal invariants of the function algebraA of the quantum group. As a consequence of a general theorem we show that in all these casesA as a left or rightB-module is faithfully flat. Moreover, the coalgebraA/AB + is cosemisimple.  相似文献

SupposeG is a group of measurable transformations of aσ-finite measure space (X,A, m). A setAA is weakly wandering underG if there are elementsg nG such that the setsg nA, n=0, 1,…, are pairwise disjoint. We prove that the non-existence of any set of positive measure which is weakly wandering underG is a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of aG-invariant, probability measure defined onA and dominating the measurem in the sense of absolute continuity.
