The change in the class and fatty acid compositions of the phospholipids during ripening of the seeds of the Japanese Pagoda tree (buds, flowers, unripe and ripe seeds) have been studied. Summary The phospholipid complexes of the seeds ofErysimum diffusum andE. sylvestris have been investigated. It has been found that the amount of phospholipids in the seeds ofE. diffusum is lower than in those ofE. sylvestris, but their qualitative compositions are similar. The fatty-acid compositions of the triglycerides and of the total phospholipids of the two plants investigated have been studied. Phospholipids of the seeds of kenaf of the variety Opytnyi-1931 are similar with respect to their set of components and the qualitative composition of the fatty acids of homogeneous classes to the phospholipids of the variety Opytnyi-1972, but differ with respect to the amounts of individual acids. The lipid and fatty acid compositions of the seeds ofPhlomis oreophilla andPh. regelii (familyLabiatae) have been studied. The lipids ofPh. oreophilla are enriched with linoleic acid and those ofPh. regelii with oleic acid. Laballenic acid is present in the total acids of the triacylglycerides and the free fatty acids of both species, being concentrated in the free acids. Results are given which confirm the structure of the furostanol glycoside from tomato seeds forming wastes of the preserving industry. From a butanolic extract of the seeds ofLycopersicum esculentum Mill. we have isolated the furostanol glycoside tomatoside A (I) the structure of which has been established as 25(S)-5-furostan-3,22,26-triol 26-O--D-glucopyranoside 3-O-[O--D-glucopyranosyl-(12)-O--D-glucopyranosyl-(14)--D-galactopyranoside]. At the same time, by enzymatic and chemical transformations three new spirostanol glycosides of neotigogenin have been obtained: tomatoside B (III), which is 25(S)-5-spirostan-3-ol 3-O-[O--D-glucopyranosyl-(12)--D-galactopyranoside], 25(S)-5-spirostan-3-ol 3-O-[O--D-glucopyranosyl-(14)--D-galactopyranoside] (V), and 25(S)-5-spirostan-3-ol 3-O--D-galactopyranoside (IV).Institute of Organic Chemistry, Academy of Sciences of the Kirghiz SSR, Frunze.
