In a compact, connected topological projective plane, let Ω be a closed Lie subgroup of the group of all axial collineations with a fixed axis A. We compare the set З\A consisting of the centres of all non-identical homologies in Ω to orbits of the group Ω[A] of all elations contained in Ω and of its connected component θ = (Ω[A])1. It is shown that З\A is the union of at most countably many θ-orbits; moreover, З\A turns out to be a single θ-orbit whenever the connected component of Ω contains non-identical homologies. This result is analogous to a well-known theorem of André for finite planes. It has numerous consequences for the structure of collineation groups of compact, connected projective planes.  相似文献

The translation planes of order 81 admitting SL(2, 5), generated by affine elations, are completely determined. There are seven mutually non-isomorphic translation planes, of which five are new. Each of these planes may be derived producing another set of seven mutually non-isomorphic translation planes admitting SL(2, 5), where the 3-elements are Baer. Morphisms between projective geometries are introduced; they are partially defined maps satisfying natural geometric conditions. It is shown that in the arguesian case the morphisms are exactly those maps which in terms of homogeneous coordinates are described by semilinear maps. If one restricts the considerations to automorphisms (collineations) one recovers the so-called fundamental theorem of projective geometry, cf. Harmonic frames of prime order are investigated. The primary focus is the enumeration of inequivalent harmonic frames, with the exact number given by a recursive formula. The key to this result is a one-to-one correspondence developed between inequivalent harmonic frames and the orbits of a particular set. Secondarily, the symmetry group of prime order harmonic frames is shown to contain a subgroup consisting of a diagonal matrix as well as a permutation matrix, each of which is dependent on the particular harmonic frame in question.  相似文献

We investigate the structure of a collineation groupG preserving an oval in a finite projective plane of odd order and we obtain several results aboutG, whenG is a2-group. It is not known which finite graphs occur as induced subgraphs of a hypercube. This is relevant in the theory of parallel computing. The ordered version of the problem is: Which finite posets P occur as cover-preserving subposets of a Boolean lattice? Our main Theorem gives (for 0,1-posets) a necessary and sufficient condition, which involves the chromatic number of a graph associated to P. It is applied respectively to upper balanced, meet extremal, meet semidistributive, and semidistributive lattices P. More specifically, we consider isometric embeddings of posets into Boolean lattices. In particular, answering a question of Ivan Rival to the positive, a nontrivial invariant for the covering graph of a poset is found.  相似文献

Summary Making use of the intimate relations between real places and orderings, we continue studying the spaces of orderings of planar ternary rings (PTRs) with rational prime field. As in the classical case, given a preorderingS of such a PTRT, then the productA S of all natural place ringsA p associated to the orderingsP X/S is itself a place ring ofT. In particular, ifS is a nontrivial fan ofT thenA s T. Thus L. Bröcker's celebrated theorem on the trivialization of fans also applies to our setting: For any fan Sof a PTRT with rational prime field there exists a place µ: T T {} such that the push down S:= (S)\{0,} of S is a trivial fan of T. Further, Bröcker's global stability formula and, by means of an approximation theorem, some classical, valuation theoretic characterizations of SAP-preorderings and fans also extend to PTRs with rational prime field.  相似文献

In this article we determine the number of non-isomorphic semifield planes of order p4 and kernel GF(p2) for p prime, 3 ≤ p ≤ 11. We show that for each of these values of p, the plane is either desarguesian, p-primitive, or a generalized twisted field plane. We also show that the class of p-primitive planes is the largest. We also discuss the autotopism group of the semifields under study.  相似文献

This paper introduces a new concept of dimension for partially ordered sets. Dushnik and Miller in 1941 introduced the concept of dimension of a partial order P, as the minimum cardinality of a realizer, (i.e., a set of linear extensions of P whose intersection is P). Every poset has a greedy realizer (i.e., a realizer consisting of greedy linear extensions). We begin the study of the notion of greedy dimension of a poset and its relationship with the usual dimension by proving that equality holds for a wide class of posets including N-free posets, two-dimensional posets and distributive lattices.  相似文献

The concept of projective lattice geometry generalizes the classical synthetic concept of projective geometry, including projective geometry of modules.In this article we introduce and investigate certain structure preserving mappings between projective lattice geometries.
