Supply chain management has increasingly attracted attention as a systematic approach to integrate the supply chain in order to planning and controlling the materials and information from suppliers to customers. One of the most important issues in supply chain management is selection of the appropriate supplier which has significant effect on purchasing cost decrease and increase in the organization’s competition ability. Selection of the best supplier is naturally complex with no definite structure, and dependent on the type of suppliers’ activity. In the process of decision making about suppliers and many qualitative and quantitative performance indicators such as quality, price, flexibility, and due date should be considered. Then, the supplier selection problem is a multi-criteria decision making problem where numerous methods have been proposed to solve this problem so far. In the current paper, four suppliers of imported raw material “Tripolyphosphate (TPP)” (primary material to produce the detergent powder with a case study in Iran) are evaluated based on 25 effective criteria using the hierarchical fuzzy TOPSIS (HFTOPSIS) approach.  相似文献

Supplier selection is a highly important multi-criteria group decision making problem, which requires a trade-off between multiple criteria exhibiting vagueness and imprecision with the involvement of a group of experts. In this paper, a fuzzy multi-criteria group decision making approach that makes use of the quality function deployment (QFD) concept is developed for supplier selection process. The proposed methodology initially identifies the features that the purchased product should possess in order to satisfy the company’s needs, and then it seeks to establish the relevant supplier assessment criteria. Moreover, the proposed algorithm enables to consider the impacts of inner dependence among supplier assessment criteria. The upper and the lower bounds of the weights of supplier assessment criteria and ratings of suppliers are computed by using the fuzzy weighted average (FWA) method. The FWA method allows for the fusion of imprecise and subjective information expressed as linguistic variables or fuzzy numbers. The method produces less imprecise and more realistic overall desirability levels, and thus it rectifies the problem of loss of information. A fuzzy number ranking method that is based on area measurement is used to obtain the final ranking of suppliers. The computational procedure of the proposed framework is illustrated through a supplier selection problem reported in an earlier study.  相似文献

This research presents a novel, state-of-the-art methodology for solving a multi-criteria supplier selection problem considering risk and sustainability. It combines multi-objective optimization with the analytic network process to take into account sustainability requirements of a supplier portfolio configuration. To integrate ‘risk’ into the supplier selection problem, we develop a multi-objective optimization model based on the investment portfolio theory introduced by Markowitz. The proposed model is a non-standard portfolio selection problem with four objectives: (1) minimizing the purchasing costs, (2) selecting the supplier portfolio with the highest logistics service, (3) minimizing the supply risk, and (4) ordering as much as possible from those suppliers with outstanding sustainability performance. The optimization model, which has three linear and one quadratic objective function, is solved by an algorithm that analytically computes a set of efficient solutions and provides graphical decision support through a visualization of the complete and exactly-computed Pareto front (a posteriori approach). The possibility of computing all Pareto-optimal supplier portfolios is beneficial for decision makers as they can compare all optimal solutions at once, identify the trade-offs between the criteria, and study how the different objectives of supplier portfolio configuration may be balanced to finally choose the composition that satisfies the purchasing company's strategy best. The approach has been applied to a real-world supplier portfolio configuration case to demonstrate its applicability and to analyze how the consideration of sustainability requirements may affect the traditional supplier selection and purchasing goals in a real-life setting.  相似文献

Process capability indices (PCIs) have been widely used to measure the actual process information with respect to the manufacturing specifications, and become the common language for process quality between the customer and the supplier. Most of existing research works for capability testing are based on the traditional frequentist point of view and statistical properties of the estimated PCIs are derived based on the assumption of one single sample. In this paper, we consider the problem of estimating and testing process capability using Bayesian approach based on subsamples collected over time from an in-control process. The posterior probability and the credible interval for the most popular index CpkCpk under a non-informative prior are derived. The manufacturers can use the presented approach to perform capability testing and determine whether their processes are capable of reproducing product items satisfying customers’ stringent quality requirements when a daily-based or weekly-based production control plan is implemented for monitoring process stability.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the supplier selection problem which deals with comparing two one-sided processes and selecting the one that has a significantly higher capability value. We present an exact approach to tackle the supplier selection problem. Testing hypotheses with two phases for comparing two processes are considered. Critical values of the tests are calculated to determine the selection decisions. Sample size required for a designated selection power and confidence level is also investigated. The results provide useful information to practitioners. The proposed approach generalizes the existing method by not requiring equal sample sizes for the two processes. An application example on comparing two wavelength division multiplexer (WDM) manufacturing processes is presented to illustrate the practicality of our approach to actual data collected from the factories.  相似文献

Selection of supply chain partners is an important decision involving multiple criteria and risk factors. This paper proposes a fuzzy multi-objective programming model to decide on supplier selection taking risk factors into consideration. We model a supply chain consisting of three levels and use simulated historical quantitative and qualitative data. We propose a possibility approach to solve the fuzzy multi-objective programming model. Possibility multi-objective programming models are obtained by applying possibility measures of fuzzy events into fuzzy multi-objective programming models. Results indicate when qualitative criteria are considered in supplier selection, the probability of a certain supplier being selected is affected.  相似文献

We consider supplier development decisions for prime manufacturers with extensive supply bases producing complex, highly engineered products. We propose a novel modelling approach to support supply chain managers decide the optimal level of investment to improve quality performance under uncertainty. We develop a Poisson–Gamma model within a Bayesian framework, representing both the epistemic and aleatory uncertainties in non-conformance rates. Estimates are obtained to value a supplier quality improvement activity and assess if it is worth gaining more information to reduce epistemic uncertainty. The theoretical properties of our model provide new insights about the relationship between the degree of epistemic uncertainty, the effectiveness of development programmes, and the levels of investment. We find that the optimal level of investment does not have a monotonic relationship with the rate of effectiveness. If investment is deferred until epistemic uncertainty is removed then the expected optimal investment monotonically decreases as prior variance increases but only if the prior mean is above a critical threshold. We develop methods to facilitate practical application of the model to industrial decisions by a) enabling use of the model with typical data available to major companies and b) developing computationally efficient approximations that can be implemented easily. Application to a real industry context illustrates the use of the model to support practical planning decisions to learn more about supplier quality and to invest in improving supplier capability.  相似文献

This paper considers a manufacturing supply chain with multiple suppliers in the presence of multiple uncertainties such as uncertain material supplies, stochastic production times, and random customer demands. The system is subject to supply and production capacity constraints. We formulate the integrated inventory management policy for raw material procurement and production control using the stochastic dynamic programming approach. We then investigate the supplier base reduction strategies and the supplier differentiation issue under the integrated inventory management policy. The qualitative relationships between the supplier base size, the supplier capabilities and the total expected cost are established. Insights into differentiating the procurement decisions to different suppliers are provided. The model further enables us to quantitatively achieve the trade-off between the supplier base reduction and the supplier capability improvement, and quantify the supplier differentiation in terms of procurement decisions. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the results.  相似文献

Supplier selection problem, considered as a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem, is one of the most important issues for firms. Lots of literatures about it have been emitted since 1960s. However, research on supplier selection under operational risks is limited. What’s more, the criteria used by most of them are independent, which usually does not correspond with the real world. Although the analytic network process (ANP) has been proposed to deal with the problems above, several problems make the method impractical. This study first integrates the fuzzy cognitive map (FCM) and fuzzy soft set model for solving the supplier selection problem. This method not only considers the dependent and feedback effect among criteria, but also considers the uncertainties on decision making process. Finally, a case study of supplier selection considering risk factors is given to demonstrate the proposed method’s effectiveness.  相似文献

Process capability indices are useful management tools, particularly in the manufacturing industry, which provide common quantitative measures on manufacturing capability and production quality. Most supplier certification manuals include a discussion of process capability analysis and describe the recommended procedure for computing a process capability index. Acceptance sampling plans have been one of the most practical tools used in classical quality control applications. It provides both vendors and buyers to reserve their own rights by compromising on a rule to judge a batch of products. Both sides may set their own safeguard line to protect their benefits. Two kinds of risks are balanced using a well-designed sampling plan. In this paper, we introduce a new variables sampling plan based on process capability index Cpmk to deal with product sentencing (acceptance determination). The proposed new sampling plan is developed based on the exact sampling distribution hence the decisions made are more accurate and reliable. For practical purpose, tables for the required sample sizes and the corresponding critical acceptance values for various producer’s risk, the consumer’s risk and the capability requirements acceptance quality level (AQL), and the lot tolerance percent defective (LTPD) are provided. A case study is also presented to illustrate how the proposed procedure can be constructed and applied to the real applications.  相似文献

Best suppliers help manufacturers to gain and sustain a competitive advantage by improving product quality, reducing cost, shortening lead-time and so on. The crucial role played by suppliers in a supply chain renders the selection of a supplier or suppliers a significant work that attracts the attention of both researchers and practitioners. In the literature, data envelopment analysis (DEA) as a nonparametric technique is often applied to conduct a performance analysis. Little attention, however, has been paid to dual-role factors in the supplier selection process. This paper proposes a novel two-step approach to select suppliers in the presence of dual-role factors. As a combination of DEA and two-person zero-sum game theory, our work considers the strategic behaviour of the external environment and is able to handle the supplier selection in a competitive environment. Moreover, the proposed model circumvents the requirement to specify the status of a dual-role factor ahead of an evaluation and is easy to solve. Finally, the applicability of the procedure is illustrated by an application to a data set of 18 suppliers.  相似文献

Supplier evaluation and selection problem has been studied extensively. Various decision making approaches have been proposed to tackle the problem. In contemporary supply chain management, the performance of potential suppliers is evaluated against multiple criteria rather than considering a single factor-cost. This paper reviews the literature of the multi-criteria decision making approaches for supplier evaluation and selection. Related articles appearing in the international journals from 2000 to 2008 are gathered and analyzed so that the following three questions can be answered: (i) Which approaches were prevalently applied? (ii) Which evaluating criteria were paid more attention to? (iii) Is there any inadequacy of the approaches? Based on the inadequacy, if any, some improvements and possible future work are recommended. This research not only provides evidence that the multi-criteria decision making approaches are better than the traditional cost-based approach, but also aids the researchers and decision makers in applying the approaches effectively.  相似文献

One of the important stages in supply chain management which regards all the activities from the purchasing of raw material to final delivery of the product is the supplier selection process. Since it is the first stage of the supply chain management, it is a critical process affecting the consecutive stages. It is simply desired to select the best supplier for a specific product. But since there are a lot of criteria and alternatives to be considered, numerous decision making models have been proposed to provide a solution to this problem. Within this study, an integrated approach including fuzzy Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) and a mixed integer linear programming model is developed to select the best supplier in a multi-item/multi-supplier environment. The importance value of each supplier with respect to each product is obtained via fuzzy TOPSIS in the first stage. Then in the second stage, these values are used as an input in the mathematical model which determines the suppliers and the quantities of products to be provided from the related suppliers. So as to validate the proposed methodology, an application is performed in air filter sector.  相似文献

The current paper presents a comprehensive methodology for supplier selection. In the first stage, the linguistic values expressed as trapezoidal fuzzy numbers are used to assess the weights of the criteria. The Axiomatic Fuzzy Set clustering (AFS) method, which handles ambiguity and fuzziness in the supplier selection problem effectively, is applied to cluster the suppliers and evaluate each potential supplier that aims at obtaining initial supplier ranking. In the second stage, the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) model is constructed to determine the weight of various quantitative and qualitative criteria. To address multiple decision criteria in supplier ranking, the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is employed to select the final suppliers. A numerical example composed of 30 suppliers and 6 criteria is studied, and the experimental results show that the proposed evaluation framework is suitable for supplier selection decisions even with the dependent criteria/attributes.  相似文献

Firms often use acceptance sampling to monitor the quality of the raw materials and components delivered by suppliers. In this paper, we use numerical methods to examine how a risk averse supplier reacts to the acceptance sampling plan used by a customer. We assume that the supplier produces and delivers a quality level that maximizes the supplier's expected utility. We examine the sensitivity of the optimal delivered quality to changes in the price, to changes in the supplier's level of risk aversion, and to changes in the parameters of the customer's sampling plan. We conclude that risk averse suppliers deliver higher quality, that higher capability suppliers do not necessarily deliver higher quality, and that the optimal quality is sensitive to the lot size. We also conclude that since the risk of rejection motivates suppliers to improve quality, customers have an economic justification for using acceptance sampling even when there is no statistical justification.  相似文献

This paper examines the effectiveness of business-to-business relationships in reference to the suppliers of office equipments serving the industrial accounts in Mexico. The study addresses broadly the performance-related issues as to what extent is the impact of quality of services responsible for doing business with the organizational buyers. Discussions in the paper also analyse the impact of channel function performance on relationship quality, which is moderated by the extent dependence structure of the relationship. The results of the study showed that the impact of buyer–supplier co-dependency and relationship quality significantly affects the supplier performance. It has been argued in the paper that the market orientation is positively associated with measures of channel performance such as service quality and the extent of buyer satisfaction. The study also demonstrates that in the processes of managing business relationships, cognitive dimensions like trust, commitment, and low level of conflicts provide ‘win-win’ situation for buyers and suppliers. Finally, this study attempts to make contributions to the literature on buyer–supplier relationships towards cognitive and relational perspectives leading to optimizing functional efficiency of a firm.  相似文献

The productivity and quality of a continuous caster depend mainly on process parameters, i.e. casting speed, casting temperature, steel composition and cleanliness of the melt, water flow rates in the different cooling zones, etc. This work presents the development of an algorithm, which incorporates heuristic search techniques for direct application in metallurgical industries, particularly those using continuous casting process for the production of steel billets and slabs. This is done to determine the casting objectives of maximum casting rate as a function of casting constraints. These constraints are evaluated with the aid of a heat transfer and solidification model based on the finite difference technique, which has been developed and integrated with a genetic algorithm. The essential parts of continuous casting equipment, which must be subjected to monitoring, as well as a methodology of mathematical model and physical settlements in each cooling region, are presented. The efficiency of the intelligent system is assured by the optimisation of the continuous casting operation by maximum casting rate and defect-free products. This approach is applied to the real dimension of a steel continuous caster, in real conditions of operation, demonstrating that good results can be attained by using heuristic search, such as: smaller temperature gradients between sprays zones, reduction in water consumption and an increase in casting speed.  相似文献

Evaluating, ranking and selecting of good supplier play an important role in decreasing of buying risk and increasing of efficiency and effectiveness in value chain and competitive ability of organizations. The goal of this paper is determination and localization of criteria, ranking and selecting suppliers in Automobile Manufacturing Companies in Iran. Based on literature review, 27 criteria were selected and localized, then using factor analysis, they were decreased to 6 items including quality, delivery, technical skill, after sales services, investment and product design. Ultimately, 4 suppliers including Tavan, Borna, Saba and Niroogostaran have been assessed and ranked by fuzzy topsis technique. The results of the research state that score of Borna is better than others with coefficient of 0.52, and from this view, Tavan, Saba and Niroogostaran are in the next ranking with coefficient of 0.45, 0.41, 0.31, respectively. Finally, it concludes some remarks including discussion, summary of implications for managers about how they can use this research results for selecting the best supplier and promoting the competitive ability of their organization, and directions for their further work too.  相似文献

The entrainment of oxide films into the bulk material has been shown to have a detrimental effect on casting integrity. A number of mechanisms have been shown to initiate the entrainment of oxide films, including: returning waves, plunging jets, bubble trails and fountains. Therefore, the assessment of the casting system for these features by the foundry engineer is critical in improving casting quality.  相似文献
