Here we explore the exceptional structural characteristics of a set of graphene-related materials prepared by a wet chemical approach. We present a comprehensive study of the effects of morphology, sonication, temperature, probe species, and stacking behaviour on the measurement of graphene surface area. Nitrogen gas was used in the solid state gas adsorption measurements and methylene blue dye for adsorption measurements on aqueous dispersions of graphene. The surface area values obtained are among the highest reported for synthetic graphenes: 1700 m2 g? 1 in aqueous dispersions and 612 m2 g? 1 in the solid state. Microscopy revealed the graphene used in the study was present in large part as free sheets and electron diffraction confirmed the successful synthesis of high quality graphene with a regular C–C bond length of 1.41 ± 0.02 Å.  相似文献

A novel, sensitive, and convenient method for the determination of uracil and thymine by functionalized CdS nanoparticles (NPs) was proposed. CdS NPs were prepared by hydrothermal process and modified with thioglycollic acid (TGA) in aqueous solution. The fluorescence intensity of functionalized CdS NPs was quenched in the presence of uracil or thymine. Under optimal conditions, the relative fluorescence intensity (F0/F) was proportional to the concentration in the range of 9.0×10?6–1.0×10?4 mol/L for uracil (r=0.9985) and 8.8×10?7–1.5×10?4 mol/L for thymine (r=0.9960). The corresponding detection limits were 9.6×10?7 mol/L and 3.2×10?7 mol/L, respectively. In addition, the possible quenching mechanism was also discussed.  相似文献

Silver nanoparticles (NPs) were photogenerated in situ in crosslinked poly(ester-co-styrene) resins (self-standing films and monoliths) by irradiating the samples with UV light. Addition of the silver salt solution did not interfere in the resin curing process and silver reduction was not detected during sample crosslinking. The samples were characterized by absorption spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The initially broad and asymmetric surface plasmon resonance band was narrowed and blue-shifted as the exposure time to UV light was increased. Samples illuminated up to 120 min have an average particle size near 9.0 nm; a decrease to ∼5.0 nm was observed for longer exposure times up to 790 min. The asymmetric surface plasmon resonance band was due to particle aggregation; higher irradiation times led to a uniform particle distribution within the polymer matrix.  相似文献

We report the achievement of transport critical currents in Sr0.6K0.4Fe2As2 wires and tapes with a Tc = 34 K. The wires and tapes were fabricated through an in situ powder-in-tube process. Silver was used as a chemical addition as well as a sheath material. All the wire and tape samples have shown the ability to transport superconducting current. Critical current density Jc was enhanced upon silver addition, and at 4.2 K, a largest Jc of ~1200 A/cm2 (Ic = 9 A) was achieved for 20% silver added tapes, which is the highest in iron-based wires and tapes so far. The Jc is almost field independent between 1 T and 10 T, exhibiting a strong vortex pinning. Such a high transport critical current density is attributed to the weak reaction between the silver sheath and the superconducting core, as well as an improved connectivity between grains. We also identify a weak-link behavior from the apparent drop of Jc at low fields and a hysteretic phenomenon. Finally, we found that compared to Fe, Ta and Nb tubes, Ag was the best sheath material for the fabrication of high-performance 122 type pnictide wires and tapes.  相似文献

Using high-intensity ultrasound, in situ generated α-amylase nanoparticles (NPs) were immobilized on polyethylene (PE) films. The α-amylase NP-coated PE films have been characterized by E-SEM, FTIR, DLS, XPS and RBS. The PE was reacted with HNO3 and NPs of the α-amylase were also deposited on the activated PE. The PE impregnated with α-amylase (4 μg per 1 mg PE) was used for hydrolyzing soluble potato starch to maltose. The immobilization improved the catalytic activity of α-amylase at all the reaction conditions studied. The kinetic parameters, Km (5 and 4 g L?1 for the regular and activated PE, respectively) and Vmax (5 × 10?7 mol ml?1 min?1, almost the same numbers were obtained for the regular and activated PEs) for the immobilized amylase were found to slightly favor the respective values obtained for the free enzyme (Km = 6.6 g L?1, Vmax = 3.7 × 10?7 mol ml?1 min?1). The enzyme remained bound to PE even after soaking the PE in a starch solution for 72 h and was still found to be weakly active.  相似文献

Glasses containing silver, tin and europium were prepared by the melt-quenching technique with silver nanoparticles (NPs) being embedded upon heat treatment (HT). An intensification of Eu3+ ions emission was observed for non-resonant excitation around 270 nm, corresponding to UV absorption in the material. Optical measurements suggest that light absorption occurs at single Ag+ ions and/or twofold-coordinated Sn centers followed by energy transfer to europium which results in populating the 5D0 emitting state in Eu3+. After HT at 843 K, a quenching effect is observed on Eu3+ luminescence with increasing holding time in the 350–550 nm excitation range. The quenching effect shows with the presence of Ag NPs which may provide multipole radiationless pathways for excitation energy loss in europium ions.  相似文献

The silver colloidal solutions were prepared by in situ synthesis technique in the presence of the Polymethyl Methacrylate, which was polymerized by reversible addition-fragmentation transfer. The UV–VIS spectra and transmission electron microscopy had shown the formation of sphere silver nanoparticles with average size of 10 nm. Nonlinear optical properties as a function of silver concentration were studied using Z-scan technique with 13 ns pulse duration at 532 nm. The optical nonlinearity enhancement was observed by increasing the concentration. The third-order nonlinear susceptibility χ(3) was measured to 1.045 × 10−11 esu when the concentration was 2.13 mg/ml. Besides, the sample was founded to exhibit a shift from saturable absorption to reverse saturable absorption at higher incident laser energy. The reverse saturable absorption was observed to be responsible for the optical limiting characteristics in our experiments.  相似文献

We prepared highly flexible, transparent, conductive and antibacterial film by spin coating a silver nanowire suspension on a poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET) substrate. The ZnO layer covered the conductive silver nanowire (AgNW) network to protect the metal nanowires from oxidization and enhance both wire-to-wire adhesion and wire-to-substrate adhesion. It is found that the number of AgNW coatings correlates with both the sheet resistance (Rs) and the transmittance of the AgNW/ZnO composite films. An excellent 92% optical transmittance in the visible range and a surface sheet resistance of only 9 Ω sq−1 has been achieved, respectively. Even after bending 1000 times (5 mm bending radius), we found no significant change in the sheet resistance or optical transmittance. The real-time sheet resistance measured as a function of bending radius also remains stable even at the smallest measured bending radius (1 mm). The AgNW/ZnO composite films also show antibacterial effects which could be useful for the fabrication of wearable electronic devices.  相似文献

One of the technologically most important requirements for the application of oxide-supported metal nanoparticles (NPs) in the fields of molecular electronics, plasmonics, and catalysis is the achievement of thermally stable systems. For this purpose, a thorough understanding of the different pathways underlying thermally-driven coarsening phenomena, and the effect of the nanoparticle synthesis method, support morphology, and degree of support reduction on NP sintering is needed. In this study, the sintering of supported metal NPs has been monitored via scanning tunneling microscopy combined with simulations following the Ostwald ripening and diffusion-coalescence models. Modifications were introduced to the diffusion-coalescence model to incorporate the correct temperature dependence and energetics. Such methods were applied to describe coarsening phenomena of physical-vapor deposited (PVD) and micellar Pt NPs supported on TiO2(110). The TiO2(110) substrates were exposed to different pre-treatments, leading to reduced, oxidized and polymer-modified TiO2 surfaces. Such pre-treatments were found to affect the coarsening behavior of the NPs.No coarsening was observed for the micellar Pt NPs, maintaining their as-prepared size of ~ 3 nm after annealing in UHV at 1060 °C. Regardless of the initial substrate pre-treatment, the average size of the PVD-grown NPs was found to increase after identical thermal cycles, namely, from 0.5 ± 0.2 nm to 1.0 ± 0.3 nm for pristine TiO2, and from 0.8 ± 0.3 nm to 1.3 ± 0.6 nm for polymer-coated TiO2 after identical thermal treatments. Although no direct real-time in situ microscopic evidence is available to determine the dominant coarsening mechanism of the PVD NPs unequivocally, our simulations following the diffusion-coalescence coarsening route were in significantly better agreement with the experimental data as compared to those based on the Ostwald-ripening model. The enhanced thermal stability of the micellar NPs as compared to the PVD clusters might be related to their initial larger NP size, narrower size distribution, and larger interparticle distances.  相似文献

Phosphate glasses with compositions (59.5–x)P2O5–MgO–xAgCl–0.5Er2O3 (0.0≤x≤1.5 mol%) containing fixed concentration of Er3+ ion with and without silver nanoparticles (NPs) are prepared using melt quenching technique. The amorphous nature of the glass is confirmed using the X-ray diffraction method. The homogeneous distribution of spherical Ag NPs (average size ~37 nm) in the glassy matrix is evidenced from the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analyses. The UV–vis–NIR absorption spectra shows 10 bands corresponding to 4I13/2, 4I11/2, 4I9/2, 4F9/2, 4S3/2, 2H11/2, 4F7/2, 4F5/2, 2G9/2, 4G11/2 transitions in which the most intense bands are 2H11/2 and 4G11/2. The absorption spectrum of Er3+ ions free glass sample containing Ag NPs displays a prominent surface Plasmon resonance (SPR) band located at 528 nm. The infrared to visible frequency upconversion (UC) emission under 797 nm excitation shows two emission bands green (4S3/24I15/2) and red (4F9/24I15/2) centered at 540 nm and 634 nm, respectively, corresponding to Er3+ transitions. An enhancement in UC emission intensity of green band (4S3/24I15/2) is observed in the presence of silver NPs and the maximum enhancement occurred for 1.5 mol% AgCl. However, the enhancement of emission intensity of the red band (4F9/24I15/2) is smaller. The enhancement of UC emission is understood in terms of the intensified local field effect due to silver NPs.  相似文献

The synergy of ultrasonication and the exposure to light radiation was found to be necessary in the formation of nanocomposites of silver and a protease alpha chymotrypsin. The reaction was carried out in aqueous medium and the process took just less than 35 min. Ultrasonication alone formed very negligible number of nanoparticles of <100 nm size whereas light alone produced enough number but the size of the particles was >100 nm.The effects of pH (in the range of 3–5, 9–10), ultrasonication time periods (0–30 min), ultrasonication intensity (33–83 W cm?2), energy of light radiation (short UV, long UV and Fluorescent light) and time period of exposure (5–60 min) to different light radiations were studied. The formation of nanocomposites under these effects was followed by surface plasmon resonance (SPR) spectra, dynamic light scattering (DLS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Ag–chymotrypsin nanocomposites of sizes ranging from 13 to 72 nm were formed using the synergy of ultrasonication and exposure to short UV radiation. Results show that ultrasonication promoted nuclei formation, growth and reduction of polydispersity by Ostwald ripening.  相似文献

Silver nanowires of 50–190 nm in diameters along with silver nanoparticles in the size range of 60–200 nm in prismatic and hexagonal shapes are synthesized through chemical process. The lengths of the silver nanowires lie between 40 and 1000 μm. The characterizations of the synthesized samples are done by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV–visible absorption spectroscopy. The syntheses have been done by using two processes. In the first process, relatively thicker and longer silver nanowires are synthesized by a soft template liquid phase method at a reaction temperature of 70 °C with methanol as solvent. In the second process, thinner silver nanowires along with silver nanoparticles are prepared through a polymer mediated polyol process at a reaction temperature of 210 °C with ethylene glycol as solvent. The variations of photoluminescence (PL) emission from the silver nanocluster dispersed in methanol as well as in ethylene glycol are recorded at room temperature under excitation wavelengths lying in between 300 and 414 nm. The blue–green PL emission is observed from the prepared samples and these emissions are assigned to radiative recombination of Fermi level electrons and sp- or d-band holes.  相似文献

Single phase materials of the La(2−x)SrxMnOδ (0.6  x  2.0) solid solution series were prepared via solid state reaction. The structure of each material was examined at room temperature and determined to be tetragonal for all phases examined. An expansion in lattice volume was observed on increasing lanthanum content. The stability and thermal expansion of each member of the solid solution series was determined via the use of in situ high temperature X-ray diffraction. It was found that all materials remained stable up to a temperature of 800 °C. Thermal expansion coefficients were found to be in the region of 15 × 10 6 K 1 for La(2−x)SrxMnOδ compounds where x > 1.4. The electrical conductivity of each phase was also determined over a similar temperature range with a maximum value of ∼6 Scm 1 at 900 °C for the x = 1.8 phase.  相似文献

In this study, we applied sonodynamic therapy to cancer cells based on the delivery of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles (NPs) modified with avidin protein, which preferentially discriminated cancerous cells from healthy cells. Subsequently, hydroxyl radicals were generated from the TiO2 NPs after activation by external ultrasound irradiation (TiO2/US treatment). Although 30% of the normal breast cells (human mammary epithelial cells) exhibited the uptake of avidin-modified TiO2 NPs, over 80% of the breast cancer cells (MCF-7) exhibited the uptake of avidin-TiO2 NPs. Next the effect of the TiO2/US treatment on MCF-7 cell growth was examined for up to 96 h after 1-MHz ultrasound was applied (0.1 W/cm2, 30 s) to cells that incorporated the TiO2 NPs. No apparent cell injury was observed until 24 h after the treatment, but the viable cell concentration declined to 68% compared with the control at 96 h.  相似文献

Silver (Ag) nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared by laser ablation in water with an aim to enhance the luminescence of rare earth coordinated complex in polymer host. A fixed concentration of the complex containing Samarium (Sm), Salicylic acid (Sal) and 1, 10-phenanthroline (Phen) were combined with different concentrations of silver NPs in PolyVinyl Alcohol at room temperature. Absorption spectrum and XRD patterns of the sample show that the Sm(Sal)3Phen complex is accompanied by Ag NPs. The luminescence from the complex was recorded in the presence and absence of Ag NPs using two different excitation wavelengths viz. 400 and 355 nm. Of these, 400 nm radiation falls in the surface plasmon resonance of Ag NPs. It was found that the Ag NPs led to a significant enhancement in luminescence of the complex. Surprisingly, a high concentration of Ag NPs tends to quench the luminescence.  相似文献

The adsorption of carbon monoxide on Pt(111) was studied using polarization modulation infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (PM-IRAS) and sum frequency generation (SFG) spectroscopy. Two CO on-top signals at 2110 cm? 1 and 2097 cm? 1 have been detected under continuous CO exposure in a pressure range from 10? 7 to 100 mbar and at temperatures between 200 K and 300 K. The formation of the higher wavenumber signal is found to be kinetically limited below 200 K and by the presence of a stable c(4 × 2) adlayer in UHV. On the basis of the results presented in this study and previous experimental findings the two on-top signals are related to different CO compression layers on Pt(111) with θ > 0.5, hexagonal Moiré lattices and rectangular coincident site lattices.  相似文献

The physical and electrochemical properties of the activated carbon pellet electrodes have been investigated. Activated carbon pellets were prepared from single step carbonization process of pre-carbonized rubber wood sawdust at a temperature of 800 °C that followed with a CO2 activation process at temperature in the range of 700–1000 °C. The BET characterization on the sample found that the surface area of the carbon pellet increased with the increasing of the activation temperature. The optimum value was as high as 683.63 m2 g−1. The electrical conductivity was also found to increase linearly with the increasing of the activation temperature, namely from 0.0075 S cm−1 to 0.0687 S cm−1 for the activation temperature in the range of 700–1000 °C. The cyclic voltammetry characterization of the samples in aqueous solution of 1 M H2SO4 also found that the specific capacitance increased with the increasing of the activation temperature. Typical optimum value was shown by the sample activated at 900 °C with the specific capacitance was as high as 33.74 F g−1 (scan rate 1 mV s−1). The retained ratio was as high as 32.72%. The activated carbon pellet prepared from the rubber wood sawdust may found used in supercapacitor applications.  相似文献

Zerovalent iron (ZVI) has been demonstrated to be suitable for the dehalogenation of environmental pollutants such as chloroethenes. The construction of ZVI reactive barriers by conventional engineering measures is expensive and limited to shallow aquifers. The use of nanosized ZVI particles opens new opportunities to construct ZVI barriers with less invasive techniques. However, nanosized particles of pure ZVI are pyrophoric and react spontaneously with atmospheric oxygen. In this study, nanosized air-stable ZVI particles were produced by applying ultrasound to a solution of Fe(CO)5 in edible oil. The resulting iron nanoparticles were dispersed in a carbon matrix, and coated with a non-crystalline carbon layer of approx. 2.5 nm. Although, these nanoparticles are non-pyrophoric and stable in air, dechlorination of tetrachloroethene was demonstrated in synthetic aqueous medium and in polluted groundwater. Additionally, hydrogen was formed. Due to the larger surface area, significantly higher mass-normalized reaction rates of the novel carbon-coated nanoparticles were obtained as compared to conventional bulk ZVI material. Surface normalized pseudo-first-order-reaction rates of kSA = 3.49 × 10?3 L h?1 m?2 and 2.33 × 10?2 L h?1 m?2 were calculated for the nano-ZVI and the bulk ZVI, respectively. Dechlorination reaction products of the novel nano-ZVI were trichloroethene, cis-dichloroethene, vinyl chloride, ethene, and ethane.  相似文献

A simple sonochemical route was developed for the preparation of gold nanoparticles/boron nitride sheets (AuNPs/BNS) nanocomposites without using reducing or stabilizing agents. Transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and UV–vis absorption spectra were used to characterize the structure and morphology of the nanocomposites. The experimental results showed that AuNPs with approximately 20 nm were uniformly attached onto the BNS surface. It was found that the AuNPs/BNS nanocomposites exhibited good catalytic activity for the reduction of H2O2. The modified electrochemical sensor showed a linear range from 0.04 to 50 mM with a detection limit of 8.3 μM at a signal-to-noise ratio of 3. The findings provide a low-cost approach to the production of stable aqueous dispersions of nanoparticles/BNS nanocomposites.  相似文献

The present study demonstrated the enhanced hydroxyl (OH) radical generation by combined use of dual-frequency (0.5 MHz and 1 MHz) ultrasound (US) and titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles (NPs) as sonocatalyst. The OH radical generation became the maximum, when 0.5 MHz US was irradiated at an intensity of 0.8 W/cm2 and 1 MHz US was irradiated at intensities at 0.4 W/cm2 in the presence of TiO2 NPs under the examined conditions. After incorporation of TiO2 NPs modified with targeting protein pre-S1/S2, HepG2 cancer cells were subjected to the dual-frequency US at optimum irradiation intensities (“targeted-TiO2/dual-US treatment”). Growth of the HepG2 cells was reduced by 46% compared with the control condition after irradiation of dual-frequency US for 60 s with TiO2 NPs incorporation. In contrast, HepG2 cell growth was almost the same as that in the control condition when cells were irradiated with either 0.5 MHz or 1 MHz ultrasound alone without TiO2 NP incorporation.  相似文献
