In this paper, we investigate qualitative behavior of nonlinear differential equations with piecewise constant argument (PCA). A topological approach of Wa?ewski-type which gives sufficient conditions to guarantee that the graph of at least one solution stays in a given domain is formulated. Moreover, our results are also suitable for a class of general system of discrete equations. By using a regular polyfacial set, we apply our developed topological approach to cellular neural networks (CNNs) with PCA. Some new results are attained to reveal dynamic behavior of CNNs with PCA and discrete-time CNNs. Finally, an illustrative example of CNNs with PCA shows usefulness and effectiveness of our results.  相似文献

The purpose of this work is to study the spatial dynamics of one-dimensional multilayer cellular neural networks. We first establish the existence of rightward and leftward spreading speeds of the model. Then we show that the spreading speeds coincide with the minimum wave speeds of the traveling wave fronts in the right and left directions. Moreover, we obtain the asymptotic behavior of the traveling wave fronts when the wave speeds are positive and greater than the spreading speeds. According to the asymptotic behavior and using various kinds of comparison theorems, some front-like entire solutions are constructed by combining the rightward and leftward traveling wave fronts with different speeds and a spatially homogeneous solution of the model. Finally, various qualitative features of such entire solutions are investigated.  相似文献

The current paper is devoted to the study of spatial spreading dynamics of monostable equations with nonlocal dispersal in spatially periodic habitats. In particular, the existence and characterization of spreading speeds is considered. First, a principal eigenvalue theory for nonlocal dispersal operators with space periodic dependence is developed, which plays an important role in the study of spreading speeds of nonlocal periodic monostable equations and is also of independent interest. In terms of the principal eigenvalue theory it is then shown that the monostable equation with nonlocal dispersal has a spreading speed in every direction in the following cases: the nonlocal dispersal is nearly local; the periodic habitat is nearly globally homogeneous or it is nearly homogeneous in a region where it is most conducive to population growth in the zero-limit population. Moreover, a variational principle for the spreading speeds is established.  相似文献

We investigate the spreading behavior of two invasive species modeled by a Lotka–Volterra diffusive competition system with two free boundaries in a spherically symmetric setting. We show that, for the weak–strong competition case, under suitable assumptions, both species in the system can successfully spread into the available environment, but their spreading speeds are different, and their population masses tend to segregate, with the slower spreading competitor having its population concentrating on an expanding ball, say \(B_t\), and the faster spreading competitor concentrating on a spherical shell outside \(B_t\) that disappears to infinity as time goes to infinity.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to the development of the theory of spreading speeds and traveling waves for abstract monostable evolution systems with spatial structure. Under appropriate assumptions, we show that the spreading speeds coincide with the minimal wave speeds for monotone traveling waves in the positive and negative directions. Then we use this theory to study the spatial dynamics of a parabolic equation in a periodic cylinder with the Dirichlet boundary condition, a reaction-diffusion model with a quiescent stage, a porous medium equation in a tube, and a lattice system in a periodic habitat.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to the study of the spreading speeds of a partially degenerate reaction–diffusion system with monostable nonlinearity in a periodic habitat. We first obtain sufficient conditions for the existence of principal eigenvalues in the case where solution maps of the associated linear systems lack compactness, and prove a threshold type result on the global dynamics for the periodic initial value problem. Then we establish the existence and computational formulae of spreading speeds for the general initial value problem. It turns out that the spreading speed is linearly determinate.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the propagation dynamics for a class of integrodifference competition models in a periodic habitat. An interesting feature of such a system is that multiple spreading speeds can be observed, which biologically means different species may have different spreading speeds. We show that the model system admits a single spreading speed, and it coincides with the minimal wave speed of the spatially periodic traveling waves. A set of sufficient conditions for linear determinacy of the spreading speed is also given.  相似文献

This paper deals with a nonlinear diffusion equation with double free boundaries possessing different moving parameters. We present the spreading–vanishing dichotomy and threshold between spreading and vanishing. Purpose of this study is to investigate the dynamical properties of Chua and Yang cellular neural networks (CNNs). Based on the continuation theorem of coincidence degree theory, a novel sufficient condition with respect to the existence of periodic solution for CNNs is derived. Moreover, a generalized Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional is designed to guarantee the global stability of the existed periodic solution. An illustrative example is given to verify the effectiveness and correctness of the proposed method, furthermore, random disturbance is added in the numerical simulation in order to verify the robustness of the proposed approach.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the investigation of Lyme disease spread via a time–space periodic nonlocal spatial model in an unbounded domain. We first study the spatial periodic initial problem of the model system and discuss the existence of principal eigenvalue of a linear system with the spatial nonlocality induced by time delay under a smooth assumption. Then we establish the existence of the spreading speeds, and show its coincidence with the minimal wave speed. We further perform a perturbation argument to remove this aforementioned assumption and provide an estimation of the spreading speeds in terms of the spectral radius. To understand the spreading and interaction of prey and predator, in this paper we study the dynamics of the diffusive Lotka–Volterra type prey–predator model with different free boundaries. These two free boundaries, which may intersect each other as time evolves, are used to describe the spreading of prey and predator. We investigate the existence and uniqueness, regularity and uniform estimates, and long time behaviors of global solution. Some sufficient conditions for spreading and vanishing are established. When spreading occurs, we provide the more accurate limits of (u,v) as t, and give some estimates of asymptotic spreading speeds of u,v and asymptotic speeds of g,h. This paper is concerned with the spreading speeds and traveling wavefronts for second order integrodifference equations. By introducing an auxiliary integrodifference system, the spreading speed is established for the integrodifference equation. It is shown that the spreading speed coincides with the minimal wave speed for monotonic traveling wavefronts. Furthermore, we prove that the traveling wavefronts are stable by applying the squeezing technique. Finally, we analyze the different effects of the delay term appearing in the integrodifference equation from the viewpoint of ecology.  相似文献

Recently, the authors of [22] studied a diffusive prey–predator model with two different free boundaries. They first obtained the existence, uniqueness, regularity, uniform estimates and long time behaviors of global solution, and then established the conditions for spreading and vanishing. Especially, when spreading occurs, they provided accurate limits of two species as t+, and gave some estimates of asymptotic spreading speeds of two species and asymptotic speeds of two free boundaries. Motivated by the paper [22], in this paper we discuss the diffusive competition model with two different free boundaries, which had been investigated by [7], [11], [15], [21]. The main purpose of this paper is to establish much sharper estimates of asymptotic spreading speeds of two species and asymptotic speeds of two free boundaries when spreading occurs. This paper is concerned with the spreading speeds of a modified Lotka-Volterra predator-prey system; the intention is to describe the propagation mode whereby the two species coinvade a new habitat. Under some assumptions, it is proved that the spreading speed of the prey is slower than in the case where the predator vanishes, and the density of the prey on the coexistence domain is also smaller compared with the case where interspecies actions disappear. Therefore, the predator has a negative effect on the evolution of the prey by slowing the spreading speed and decreasing the population density of the prey.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the spreading speeds and traveling wavefronts of second order integrodifference equations with local monotonicity. By introducing two auxiliary integrodifference equations, the spreading speed and traveling wave solutions are studied. In particular, we obtain the nonexistence of monotone traveling wave solutions for an example if it is local monotone. These results are applied to a model which is obtained by introducing the spatial variable to a difference equation used by the International Whaling Commission.  相似文献

A main theorem together with a few corollaries related to the existence and boundedness of the solution for this kind of CNNs, as well as its global asymptotic stability is derived. The global exponential stability of cellular neural networks (CNNs) with time-varying delays is analyzed. Two new sufficient conditions ensuring global exponential stability for delayed CNNs are obtained. The conditions presented here are related to the size of delay. This paper describes the problem of stability for one-dimensional Cellular Neural Networks(CNNs). A sufficient condition is presented to ensure complete stability for a class of special CNN's with nonsymmetric templates, where the parameter in the output function is greater than or equal to zero.
