This article presents a simplified three-unknown shear and normal deformations nonlocal beam theory for the bending analysis of nanobeams in thermal environment. Eringen's nonlocal constitutive equations are considered in the analysis. Governing equations are derived according to the present refined theory using Hamilton's principle. Central deflections of nanobeams under uniform and point loads are given and compared with the available ones in the literature. Additional results of displacement and stresses are presented for future comparison. The effects of nonlocality, temperature parameters, length of beam, length-to-depth ratio as well as shear and normal strains are all investigated.  相似文献

Mechanical properties of silicon nanobeams are of prime importance in nanoelectromechanical system applications. A numerical experimental method of determining resonant frequencies and Young's modulus of nanobeams by combining finite element analysis and frequency response tests based on an electrostatic excitation and visual detection by laser Doppler vibrometer is presented in this paper. Silicon nanobeams test structures are fabricated from silicon-on-insulator wafers by using a standard lithography and anisotropic wet etching release process, which inevitably generates the undercut of the nanobeam clamping. In conjunction with three-dimensional finite element numerical simulations incorporating the geometric undercut, dynamic resonance tests reveal that the undercut significantly reduces resonant frequencies of nanobeams due to the fact that it effectively increases the nanobeam length by a correct value Δ L, which is a key parameter that is correlated with deviations in the resonant frequencies predicted from the ideal Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and experimentally measured data. By using a least-square fit expression including Δ L, we finally extract Young's modulus from the measured resonance frequency versus effective length dependency and find that Young's modulus of silicon nanobeam with 200-nm thickness is close to that of bulk silicon. This result supports that the finite size effect due to surface effect does not play a role in mechanical elastic behaviour of silicon nanobeams with the thickness larger than 200 nm.  相似文献

Here, an analytical approach for the dynamic analysis, viz., free and forced vibrations, of curved nanobeams using nonlocal elasticity beam theory based on Eringen formulation coupled with a higher-order shear deformation accounting for through thickness stretching is investigated. The formulation is general in the sense that it can be deduced to analyse the effect of various structural theories pertaining to curved nanobeams. It also includes inplane, rotary and coupling inertia terms. The governing equations derived, using Hamiltons principle, are solved in conjunction with Naviers solutions. The free vibration results are obtained employing the standard eigenvalue analysis whereas the displacement/stress responses in time domain for the curved nanobeams subjected to rectangular pulse loading are evaluated based on Newmarks time integration scheme. The formulation is validated considering problems for which solutions are available. A comparative study is done here by different theories obtained through the formulation. The effects of various structural parameters such as thickness ratio, beam length, rise of the curved beam, loading pulse duration, and nonlocal scale parameter are brought out on the dynamic behaviours of curved nanobeams.  相似文献

This paper aims at proposing an analytical model for the vibration analysis of horizontal beams that are self-weighted and thermally stressed. Geometrical nonlinearities are taken into account on the basis of large displacement and small rotation. Natural frequencies are obtained from a linearization of equilibrium equations. Thermal force and thermal bending moment are both included in the analysis. Torsional and axial springs are considered at beam ends, allowing various boundary conditions. A dimensionless analysis is performed leading to only four parameters, respectively, related to the self-weight, thermal force, thermal bending moment and torsional spring stiffness. It is shown that the proposed model can be efficiently used for cable problems with small sag-to-span ratios (typically , as in Irvine's theory). For beam problems, the model is validated thanks to finite element solutions and a parametric study is conducted in order to highlight the combined effects of thermal loads and self-weight on natural frequencies. For cable problems, solutions are first compared with existing results in the literature obtained without thermal effects or bending stiffness. Good agreement is found. A parametric study combining the effects of sag-extensibility, thermal change and bending stiffness is finally given.  相似文献

The article focuses on acoustic resonators made of perforated sheets bonded onto honeycomb cavities. This kind of resonators can be used in adverse conditions such as high temperature, dirt and mechanical constraints. For all these reasons, they are, for example, widely used in aeronautic applications. The acoustic properties are directly linked to the size, shape and porosity of holes and to the thickness of air gaps. Unfortunately, the acoustic absorption of these resonators is selective in frequency and conventional acoustic resonators are only well adapted to tonal noises. In case of variable tonal noise, the efficiency is limited if the resonators are not tunable. One common solution is to control the depth of cavities based on the noise to be attenuated. This article proposes another technology of tunable resonators with only a very small mass and size increase. It consists of two superposed and identically perforated plates associated with cavities. One plate is fixed and bonded to the cavities and the other plate is mobile. The present concept enables to change the internal shapes of the holes of the perforated layers. The article describes this system and gives a theoretical model of the normal incidence acoustic impedance that allows to predict the acoustic behavior, in particular the resonance frequency. The model shows that the resonance frequency varies with hole profiles and that the absorption peak moves towards the lower frequencies. The proposed model is validated by measurements on various configurations of resonators tested in an impedance tube. The perspectives of this work are to adapt the hole profiles using an actuator in order to perform active control of impedance.  相似文献

This paper examines the natural frequencies and modes of transverse vibration of two simple redundant systems comprising straight uniform Euler-Bernoulli beams in which there are internal self-balancing axial loads (e.g., loads due to non-uniform thermal strains). The simplest system consists of two parallel beams joined at their ends and the other is a 6-beam rectangular plane frame. Symmetric mode vibration normal to the plane of the frame is studied. Transcendental frequency equations are established for the different systems. Computed frequencies and modes are presented which show the effect of (1) varying the axial loads over a wide range, up to and beyond the values which cause individual members to buckle (2) pinning or fixing the beam joints (3) varying the relative flexural stiffness of the component beams. When the internal axial loads first cause any one of the component beams to buckle, the fundamental frequency of the whole system vanishes. The critical axial loads required for this are determined. A simple criterion has been identified to predict whether a small increase from zero in the axial compressive load in any one member causes the natural frequencies of the whole system to rise or fall. It is shown that this depends on the relative flexural stiffnesses and buckling loads of the different members. Computed modes of vibration show that when the axial modes reach their critical values, the buckled beam(s) distort with large amplitudes while the unbuckled beam(s) move either as rigid bodies or with bending which decays rapidly from the ends to a near-rigid-body movement over the central part of the beam. The modes of the systems with fixed joints change very little (if at all) with changing axial load, except when the load is close to the value which maximizes or minimizes the frequency. In a narrow range around this load the mode changes rapidly. The results provide an explanation for some computed results (as yet unpublished) for the flexural modes and frequencies of flat plates with non-uniform thermal stress distributions.  相似文献

The problem of the electromagnetic plasma radiation near the electron plasma frequency ?pe is studied in the absence of an external magnetic field. Maxwell's equations together with the fluid equations, which include thermal effects, are solved for an infinite geometry as well as for a finite geometry, and the problem of the eigenmodes at a plasma frequency ? ?pe is studied. The excitation of these modes by a small density relativistic beam is discussed. It is shown that the presence of a small density beam with finite ?o/c (where ?o is the beam velocity and c the velocity of light in a vacuum) in a plasma of finite thermal velocity, can couple linearly the plasma oscillations excited by the beam with the electromagnetic plasma mode at ?pe. It is also shown that surface waves at a frequency ? ?pe can be excited by the beam.  相似文献

In this paper, the dissipative instabilities in the interaction of an ion beam with unmagnetized and strongly magnetized plasmas are investigated. In both cases, relevant dispersion equations of high-frequency and ion acoustic waves are obtained. In addition, the resonance frequencies and growth rates of the instabilities are derived. It is shown that the thermal motion of charged particles has positive effects on the resonance frequency but its influence on the growth rate of an instability depends on the plasma conditions. Although in all cases the collisions are found to have a stabilizing effect, it is shown that the dominant type of collisions (electron-neutral or ion-neutral collisions) depends on the frequency range. It is also indicated that the resonance frequency and the growth rate of an instability in the unmagnetized plasma is higher than in the strongly magnetized plasma for non-zero propagation angles.  相似文献

In this article, boundary characteristic orthogonal polynomials have been implemented in the Rayleigh–Ritz method to investigate free vibration of non-uniform Euler–Bernoulli nanobeams based on nonlocal elasticity theory. Non-uniform cross section of nanobeams has been considered by taking linear as well as quadratic variations of Young's modulus and density along the space coordinate. Detailed analysis has been reported for all the possible cases of such variations. The objective of the present study is to analyze the effects of nonlocal parameter, boundary condition, length-to-diameter ratio and non-uniform parameter on the frequency parameters. It is found that clamped nanobeams are having highest frequency parameters than other types of boundary conditions for a particular set of parameters. It is also observed that frequency parameters decrease with increase in scaling effect parameter. First four deflection shapes of non-uniform nanobeams have also been incorporated. In this analysis, some of the new results in terms of boundary conditions have also been included.  相似文献

This article studies the nonlinear vibration of viscoelastic embedded nano-sandwich structures containing of a double walled carbon nanotube (DWCNT) integrated with two piezoelectric Zinc oxide (ZnO) layers. DWCNT and ZnO layers are subjected to magnetic and electric fields, respectively. This system is conveying viscous fluid and the related force is calculated by modified Navier–Stokes relation considering slip boundary condition and Knudsen number. Visco–Pasternak model with three parameters of the Winkler modulus, shear modulus, and damp coefficient is used for simulation of viscoelastic medium. The nano-structure is simulated as an orthotropic Timoshenko beam (TB) and the effects of small scale, structural damping and surface stress are considered based on Eringen's, Kelvin-voigt and Gurtin–Murdoch theories. Energy method and Hamilton's principle are employed to derive motion equations which are then solved using differential quadrature method (DQM). The detailed parametric study is conducted, focusing on the combined effects of small scale effect, fluid velocity, thickness of piezoelectric layer, boundary condition, surface effects, van der Waals (vdW) force on the frequency and critical velocity of nano-structure. Results indicate that the frequency and critical velocity increases with assume of surface effects.  相似文献

The effects of a single-edge crack and its locations on the buckling loads, natural frequencies and dynamic stability of circular curved beams are investigated numerically using the finite element method, based on energy approach. This study consists of three stages, namely static stability (buckling) analysis, vibration analysis and dynamic stability analysis. The governing matrix equations are derived from the standard and cracked curved beam elements combined with the local flexibility concept. Approximation for the displacements using coupled interpolations based on the constant-strain, linear-curvature element (SC) has yielded results with reasonable accuracy. The numerical results obtained from the present finite element model are found to be in good agreement with those, both experimental and analytic, of other researchers in the existing literature. Results show that the reductions in buckling load and natural frequency depend not only on the crack depth and crack position, but also on the related mode shape. Analyses also show that the crack effect on the dynamic stability of the considered curved beam is quite limited.  相似文献

A comprehensive dynamic model of a rotating hub–functionally graded material (FGM) beam system is developed based on a rigid–flexible coupled dynamics theory to study its free vibration characteristics. The rigid–flexible coupled dynamic equations of the system are derived using the method of assumed modes and Lagrange's equations of the second kind. The dynamic stiffening effect of the rotating hub–FGM beam system is captured by a second-order coupling term that represents longitudinal shrinking of the beam caused by the transverse displacement. The natural frequencies and mode shapes of the system with the chordwise bending and stretching (B–S) coupling effect are calculated and compared with those with the coupling effect neglected. When the B–S coupling effect is included, interesting frequency veering and mode shift phenomena are observed. A two-mode model is introduced to accurately predict the most obvious frequency veering behavior between two adjacent modes associated with a chordwise bending and a stretching mode. The critical veering angular velocities of the FGM beam that are analytically determined from the two-mode model are in excellent agreement with those from the comprehensive dynamic model. The effects of material inhomogeneity and graded properties of FGM beams on their dynamic characteristics are investigated. The comprehensive dynamic model developed here can be used in graded material design of FGM beams for achieving specified dynamic characteristics.  相似文献

This paper makes the first attempt to investigate the dispersion behavior of waves in magneto-electro-elastic (MEE) nanobeams. The Euler nanobeam model and Timoshenko nanobeam model are developed in the formulation based on the nonlocal theory. By using the Hamilton’s principle, we derive the governing equations which are then solved analytically to obtain the dispersion relations of MEE nanobeams. Results are presented to highlight the influences of the thermo-electro-magnetic loadings and nonlocal parameter on the wave propagation characteristics of MEE nanobeams. It is found that the thermo-electro-magnetic loadings can lead to the occurrence of the cut-off wave number below which the wave can’t propagate in MEE nanobeams.  相似文献

Different types of actuating and sensing mechanisms are used in new micro and nanoscale devices. Therefore, a new challenge is modeling electromechanical systems that use these mechanisms. In this paper, free vibration of a magnetoelectroelastic (MEE) microbeam is investigated in order to obtain its natural frequencies and buckling loads. The beam is simply supported at both ends. External electric and magnetic potentials are applied to the beam. By using the Hamilton's principle, the governing equations and boundary conditions are derived based on the Euler–Bernoulli beam theory. The equations are solved, analytically to obtain the natural frequencies of the MEE microbeam. Furthermore, the effects of external electric and magnetic potentials on the buckling of the beam are analyzed and the critical values of the potentials are obtained. Finally, a numerical study is conducted. It is found that the natural frequency can be tuned directly by changing the magnetic and electric potentials. Additionally, a closed form solution for the normalized natural frequency is derived, and buckling loads are calculated in a numerical example.  相似文献

A microscopic heterogeneous system under random influence is considered. The randomness enters the system at physical boundary of small scale obstacles as well as at the interior of the physical medium. This system is modeled by a stochastic partial differential equation defined on a domain perforated with small holes (obstacles or heterogeneities), together with random dynamical boundary conditions on the boundaries of these small holes. A homogenized macroscopic model for this microscopic heterogeneous stochastic system is derived. This homogenized effective model is a new stochastic partial differential equation defined on a unified domain without small holes, with a static boundary condition only. In fact, the random dynamical boundary conditions are homogenized out, but the impact of random forces on the small holes’ boundaries is quantified as an extra stochastic term in the homogenized stochastic partial differential equation. Moreover, the validity of the homogenized model is justified by showing that the solutions of the microscopic model converge to those of the effective macroscopic model in probability distribution, as the size of small holes diminishes to zero. Light transmission through perforated metal film has been reported and some investigations have been made into the physical origin of this phenomenon. We show that the transmission assisted with surface plasmon (SP) through a perforated metal film results from two different SP resonances effects: surface plasmon resonance due to the periodicity at the left air/metal and right metal/air interfaces and localized cavities resonance inside rectangular holes. The fields intensity is localized separately on the left and right metal-air surfaces for structure-factor-induced surface plasmon mode. And for localized cavities resonance mode, standing electromagnetic fields can also be entirely localized inside the nanohole region. The aspect ratio of the rectangular holes can affect the transmission.  相似文献

The effects of surface residual stresses on nano-beams including mid-plane stretching under near resonance vibrations, are studied. The nonlinear vibration equations are separated into two complementary parts: static, which includes the surface residual moments and yields a residual deflection, and dynamic, for the beam vibrations associated with the residual deflection via geometrical nonlinearity. The dynamic response is expressed by a shape mode expansion with time dependent coefficients, governed by a set of coupled ordinary differential equations. An approximated solution is extracted analytically by a combination of the asymptotic straight-forward expansion and multiple scale method. Results exhibit fine correspondence with finite element simulations. It is found that the non-uniformities in the surface residual stresses change the resonance frequency of the beam, shifts its amplitude-response curve and reduce its phase. Applications for nano-sensors are demonstrated and optimization possibilities are discussed.  相似文献
