In this study, the CdS nanocrystalline thin films obtained from an ammonia-free chemical bath deposition process. The crystallites with a size range of 10–20 nm in diameter with zinc blend (cubic) and wurtzite (hexagonal) crystal structure and strong photoluminescence were prepared from the mixture solutions of: cadmium chloride dihydrate as a cadmium source, thiourea as a sulfur source and sodium citrate dihydrate as a complexing agent for cadmium ions. The well-cleaned glass used as a substrate for thin films deposition. The obtained samples were characterized by the techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and fluorescence spectroscopy. Also, the effect of two parameters such as pH and temperature of reaction on the synthesis of CdS nanocrystals was studied. Finally, it was found the CdS nanocrystals showed sharp excitation features and strong “band-edge” emission.  相似文献

ZnS thin films have been prepared by chemical bath deposition (CBD) technique onto glass substrates deposited at about 80 °C using aqueous solution of zinc sulfate hepta-hydrate, ammonium sulfate, thiourea, ammonia and hydrazine hydrate. Ammonia and hydrazine hydrate were used as complexing agents. The influence of the ratio of [Zn]/[S] on formation and properties of ZnS thin films has been investigated. The ratio of [Zn]/[S] was changed from 3:1 to 1:9 by varying volumes and/or concentrations of zinc sulfate hepta-hydrate and thiourea in the deposition solution. The structural and morphological characteristics of films have been investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope and UV-vis spectroscopic analysis. ZnS films were obtained with the [Zn]/[S] ratio ranged from1:1 to 1:6. In the cases of [Zn]/[S] ratio ≥ 3:1 or ≤1:9, no deposition was found. Transparent and polycrystalline ZnS film was obtained with pure-wurtzite structure at the [S]/[Zn] ratio of 1:6. The related formation mechanisms of CBD ZnS are discussed. The deposited ZnS films show good optical transmission (80-90%) in the visible region and the band gap is found to be in the range of 3.65-3.74 eV. The result is useful to further develop the CBD ZnS technology.  相似文献

Titanium dioxide thin films have been deposited by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) over sodalime glass substrates at substrate temperatures ranging from 250 °C to 450 °C. The effect of deposition temperature on the structure and microstructure of the obtained films has been studied by x-rays diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. Diffraction patterns show the existence of a pure anatase phase beside a texture change with the increase of deposition temperature. Micrographs show grain fragmentation with the increase in deposition temperature. UV–Vis. spectra have been recorded by spectrophotometery. The optical energy gap has been calculated for the deposited films from the spectrophotometrical data. Photocatalytic experiments have been carried out. The photocatalytic activity has been found to decrease with the increase in deposition temperature.  相似文献

The effect of deposition time on the structural, electrical and optical properties of SnS thin films deposited by chemical bath deposition onto glass substrates with different deposition times (2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 h) at 60 °C were investigated. The obtained films were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) and optical absorption spectra. All deposited films were polycrystalline and had orthorhombic structure with small crystal grains. Their microstructures had changed with deposition time, and their compositions were nearly stoichiometric. Electrical parameters such as resistivity and type of electrical conduction were determined from the Hall Effect measurements. Hall Effect measurements show that obtained films have p-type conductivity and resistivity values of SnS films have changed with deposition time. For allowed direct, allowed indirect, forbidden direct and forbidden indirect transitions, band gap values varied in the range 1.30-1.97 eV, 0.83-1.36 eV, 0.93-1.49 eV and 0.62-1.23 eV, respectively.  相似文献

The CdSe and Fe doped CdSe (Fe:CdSe) thin films have been electrodeposited potentiostatically onto the stainless steel and fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) glass substrates, from ethylene glycol bath containing (CH3COO)2·Cd·2H2O, SeO2, and FeCl3 at room temperature. The doping concentration of Fe is optimized by using (photo) electrochemical (PEC) characterization technique. The deposition mechanism and Fe incorporation are studied by cyclic voltammetry. The structural, surface morphological and optical properties of the deposited CdSe and Fe:CdSe thin films have been studied by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and optical absorption techniques respectively. The PEC study shows that Fe:CdSe thin films are more photosensitive than that of undoped CdSe thin films. The X-ray diffraction analysis shows that the films are polycrystalline with hexagonal crystal structure. SEM studies reveal that the films with uniformly distributed grains over the entire surface of the substrate. The complete surface morphology has been changed after doping. Optical absorption study shows the presence of direct transition and a considerable decrease in bandgap, Eg from 1.95 to 1.65 eV.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline thin films of TiO2 were prepared on glass substrates from an aqueous solution of TiCl3 and NH4OH at room temperature using the simple and cost-effective chemical bath deposition (CBD) method. The influence of deposition time on structural, morphological and optical properties was systematically investigated. TiO2 transition from a mixed anatase–rutile phase to a pure rutile phase was revealed by low-angle XRD and Raman spectroscopy. Rutile phase formation was confirmed by FTIR spectroscopy. Scanning electron micrographs revealed that the multigrain structure of as-deposited TiO2 thin films was completely converted into semi-spherical nanoparticles. Optical studies showed that rutile thin films had a high absorption coefficient and a direct bandgap. The optical bandgap decreased slightly (3.29–3.07 eV) with increasing deposition time. The ease of deposition of rutile thin films at low temperature is useful for the fabrication of extremely thin absorber (ETA) solar cells, dye-sensitized solar cells, and gas sensors.  相似文献

The scaling behavior and optical properties of Zn(S, O and OH) thin films deposited on soda-lime glass substrates by chemical bath deposition method were studied by combined roughness measurements, scanning electron microscopy and optical properties measurement. From the scaling behaviour, the value of growth scaling exponent β , 0.38±0.06, was determined. This value indicated that the Zn(S, O, OH) film growth in the heterogeneous process was influenced by the surface diffusion and shadowing effect. Results of the optical properties measurements disclosed that the transmittance of the film was in the region of 70%-88% and the optical properties of the film grown for 40 min were better than those grown under other conditions. The energy band gap of the film deposited with 40 min was around 3.63 eV.  相似文献

In this paper, the experimental results regarding some structural, electrical and optical properties of ZnO thin films prepared by thermal oxidation of metallic Zn thin films are presented.Zn thin films (d=200–400 nm) were deposited by thermal evaporation under vacuum, onto unheated glass substrates, using the quasi-closed volume technique. In order to obtain ZnO films, zinc-coated glass substrates were isochronally heated in air in the 300–660 K temperature range, for thermal oxidation.X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies revealed that the ZnO films obtained present a randomly oriented hexagonal nanocrystalline structure. Depending on the heating temperature of the Zn films, the optical transmittance of the ZnO films in the visible wavelength range varied from 85% to 95%. The optical band gap of the ZnO films was found to be about 3.2 eV. By in situ studying of the temperature dependence of the electrical conductivity during the oxidation process, the value of about 2×10−2 Ω−1 m−1 was found for the conductivity of completely oxidized ZnO films.  相似文献

Aluminium-doped (Al = 0–5?wt.%) SnO2 thin films with low-electrical resistivity and high optical transparency have been successfully synthesized by pulsed laser deposition technique at 500 °C. Structural, optical and electrical properties of the as-deposited and post-annealed thin films were investigated. X-ray diffraction patterns suggest that the films transform from crystalline to amorphous state with increasing aluminium content. The root mean square (Rq) surface roughness parameter, determined by atomic force microscopy decreases upon annealing of the as-deposited film. While resistivity of the film is the lowest (9.49 × 10?4 Ω-cm) at a critical doping level of 1?wt.% Al, optical transparency is the highest (nearly 90%) in the as-deposited condition. Temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity suggests that the Mott’s variable range hopping process is the dominant carrier transport mechanism in the lower temperature range (40–135 K) for all the films whereas, thermally activated band conduction mechanism seems to account for conduction in the higher temperature region (200–300 K).  相似文献

Cd1-xZnxS thin films were deposited by chemical bath deposition (CBD) technique, which is simple and cost effective, in a chemical bath containing appropriate amount of cadmium acetate, zinc acetate, and thiourea as precursors, in a clean glass substrate. The deposition was carried out by varying the bath temperatures (70 °C, 75 °C, 80 °C, and 85 °C) of the precursor solution. The XRD results indicate the existence of hexagonal structures of Cd1-xZnxS with an average crystallite size of ∼ 27–41 nm. EDX studies confirm the presence of Cd, Zn, and S in the films. HRTEM and SAED patterns show the crystalline nature of the films with the coexistence of the hexagonal phase. The optical constants viz; optical band gap, Urbach energy, static refractive index, and optical conductivity were studied by using UV- Vis transmission spectra as a function of CBD temperature. It was observed that with the increase of bath temperature in the above range, there were concomitant decreases in optical band gap from ∼3.3 to 2.8 eV. The Urbach energy, optical conductivity, and static refractive index of the films increase with the increase in bath deposition temperature. FTIR studies confirm the formation of ternary Cd1-xZnxS thin films.  相似文献

In this work thin CdS films using glycine as a complexing agent were fabricated by chemical bath deposition and then doped with silver (Ag), by an ion exchange process with different concentrations of AgNO3 solutions. The CdS films were immersed in silver solutions using different concentrations during 1 min for doping and after that the films were annealed at 200 °C during 20 min for dopant diffusion after the immersion on the AgNO3 solutions. The aim of this research was to know the effects of different concentrations of Ag on the optical and structural properties of CdS thin films. The optical band gap of the doped films was determined by transmittance measurements, with the results of transmittance varying between 35% and 70% up to 450 nm in the electromagnetic spectra and the band gap varying between 2.31 and 2.51 eV depending of the silver content. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was used to study the influence of silver on the CdS:Ag films, as a function of the AgNO3 solution concentration. The crystal structure of the thin CdS:Ag films was studied by the X-ray diffraction method and the film surface morphology was studied by atomic force microscopy. Using the ion exchange process, the CdS films’ structural, optical and electric characteristics were modified according to silver nitrate concentration used.  相似文献

In this work, ZnO thin films were prepared by sol-gel method on glass substrates followed by calcinations at 500 °C for an hour. The effect of glucose on the structure and optical properties of the films was studied. The structural characteristics of the samples were analyzed by X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and atomic force microscope (AFM). The optical properties were studied by a UV-visible spectrophotometer. The results show that some of the prepared ZnO thin films have a high preferential oriented c-axis orientation with compact hexagonal wurtzite structure due to a proper amount of glucose introducing. After introducing the glucose additive in ZnO colloids, the intensity of (002) peak, the transmittance, and the optical band gap of the ZnO thin films increases because of the enhanced ZnO crystallization. On the contrary, the absorbance, the film thickness, and the surface root-mean-square (RMS) roughness of the ZnO thin films decreases. The glucose additive could not only improve the surface RMS roughness and microstructure of ZnO thin films, but also enhance the transmittance and the energy band gap more easily.  相似文献

Non-stoichiometric ternary chalcogenides (Zn,Fe)S were prepared in the film form by pyrolytic spray deposition technique, using air/nitrogen as the carrier gas. The precursor solution comprised of ZnCl2, FeCl2 and thiourea. The depositions were carried out under optimum conditions of experimental parameters viz. carrier gas (air/nitrogen) flow rate, concentration of precursor constituents, nozzle substrate distance and temperature of quartz substrate. The deposited thin films were later sintered in argon at 1073 K for 120 min.The structural, compositional and optical properties of the sintered thin films were studied. X-ray diffraction studies of the thin films indicated the presence of (Zn,Fe)S solid solution with prominent cubic sphalerite phase while surface morphology as determined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed a granular structure. The chemical composition of the resulting thin films as analyzed by energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX) reflected the composition of the precursor solutions from which the depositions were carried out with Fe at% values ranging from 0.4 up to 33.SEM micrographs of thin films reveal that the grain sizes of the thin films prepared using air as carrier gas and N2 as carrier gas are in the vicinity of 300 and 150 nm, respectively. The diffuse transmittance measurements for thin films, as a function of wavelength reveal the dependence of direct optical band gap on Fe content and type of phase.  相似文献

ZnS thin films were deposited on glass and polymer substrates using a reaction between thiourea and a stable zinc complex, Zn(en)3SO4 (en: ethylenediamine) or Zn(trien)(ClO4)2 (trien: triethylenetetraamine), in alkaline media. In a weak alkaline solution, Zn(OH)2 films were formed. The deposition reactions were controlled by the supply of sulfide ions from thiourea at a suitable rate in alkaline media and by the dissociation of free-metal ions from the metal complex used, the stability of which defined the free Zn2+ concentration throughout the reaction. The ZnS films showed emission peaks at ca. 450 and 485 nm, and the transmittance decreased with decreasing wavelength of the incident light in the visible region of the spectrum. ZnO thin films were deposited by decomposition of Zn(en)3SO4 in the presence of Cu(en)2(ClO4)2 and thiourea; the copper(II) complex catalyzes this reaction. The ZnO films exhibited an emission peak at ca. 420 nm, and the absorbance was constant in the visible region of the spectrum. The scanning electron microscope images showed the formation of a fairly uniform surface with fine crystalline particles. PACS 81.15.-z; 68.55.-a; 81.05.Dz  相似文献

High quality fluorine-doped tin oxide (SnO2:F) films on glass substrates were been prepared using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. The electrical properties, surface morphologies, structural properties and optical properties of the films were studied by varying the freon flow rates. The structure was analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) were used to study the morphology. Energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) was conducted to understand the surface fluorine composition of the film. The results showed that crystalline structure of the film had a have cassiterite-like diffraction patterns with a preferred orientation of (1 1 0). Surface roughness was evaluated by atomic force microscopy, characterized by root mean square (RMS) and average value (Ra). The SnO2:F resistivity decreased as the freon flow rate increased. The films had a uniform thickness and a transmittance of 80–90% within the visible region of the spectrum.  相似文献

In an effort to explore the optoelectronic properties of nanostructured indium sulfide (In2S3) thin films for a wide range of applications, the In2S3 thin films were successfully deposited on the APTS layers (-NH2-terminated) modified ITO glass substrates using the chemical bath deposition technique. The surface morphology, structure and composition of the resultant In2S3 thin films were characterized by FESEM, XRD, and XPS, respectively. Also, the correlations between the optical properties, photocurrent response and the thickness of thin films were established. According to the different deposition mechanisms on the varying SAMs terminational groups, the positive and negative micropatterned In2S3 thin films were successfully fabricated on modified Si substrates surface combining with the ultraviolet lithography process. This offers an attractive opportunity to fabricate patterned In2S3 thin films for controlling the spatial positioning of functional materials in microsystems.  相似文献

The influence of Al, Er and H in ZnO thin films (ZnO:Al, ZnO:Er and ZnO:H) deposited by magnetron sputtering at different substrate temperatures, Ts, on their optical, structural and electrical properties was investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses show an improvement of the crystalline structure with increasing Ts. The optical band gap, , of the films, from transmission and reflection spectra, ranged from 3.27 to 3.41 eV. The Urbach band tail width was also calculated. Incorporation of Al and Er resulted in a reduced and an increased resistivity, ρ, respectively, and an increase in the Urbach tail width in both cases. However, sputtering in an Ar+H2 gas mixture led to an increase in ρ and an improvement in the structural order of the films. A discussion of the influence of Ts and of Al, Er and H on the properties is presented.  相似文献
