The electronic energy level structure of the corrugated graphene electron subjected to a magnetic field tilted with respect to the graphene plane and an in-plane homogeneous magnetic field is investigated theoretically within the perturbation framework. It is shown that the anisotropy induced by the tilted magnetic field strongly modifies the Fermi velocity of the corrugated graphene electron, and the corrugated structure yields intrinsic Weiss oscillations in both Fermi velocity and the graphene Landau levels.  相似文献

The current flowing across a semiconductor superlattice in tilted electric and magnetic fields is known to exhibit resonant enhancement, when Landau states of neighboring wells align at certain ratios of the field strengths. We show that the ultrafast version of this effect, in which coherent electron wave packets are involved, has a profound analogy to the Fiske effect in superconductor Josephson junctions and superfluid weak links, in that the coupling of the tunneling-induced charge oscillations (magneto-Bloch versus Josephson oscillations) to another oscillator (in-plane cyclotron oscillations versus external oscillator modes) opens an elastic rectifying transport channel. We explore the superlattice effect both theoretically and experimentally, and find that the transient self-induced current can be adequately modeled if the damping of both types of coupled electron oscillations is properly taken into account.  相似文献

An analysis is presented of the transverse resonant tunneling transport through GaAs/AlGaAs superlattices due to tunneling between Landau levels in quantum wells in a strong tilted magnetic field. A high tunneling rate is demonstrated between Landau levels with Δn ≠ 0 in a magnetic field with a nonzero in-plane component. This leads to substantial broadening and shift of the tunneling resonance and significant changes in the current-voltage characteristics of superlattices. The predicted behavior of the current-voltage characteristics of superlattices in tilted magnetic fields is demonstrated experimentally.  相似文献

The electronic structure of Bernal-stacked graphite subject to tilted magnetic fields is studied theoretically. The minimal nearest-neighbor tight-binding model with the Peierls substitution is employed to describe the structure of Landau levels. We show that, while the orbital effect of the in-plane component of the magnetic field is negligible for massive Dirac fermions in the vicinity of the K point of the graphite Brillouin zone, at the H point it leads to the experimentally observable splitting of Landau levels, which grows approximately linearly with the in-plane field intensity.  相似文献

Single electron transistors with wire channels are fabricated by a nanoelectrode-pair technique. Their characteristics strongly depend on the channel widths and the voltages on the in-plane gates. A few dips in the Coulomb blockade oscillations were observed at the less positive gate voltages for a device with a 70nm-wide wire due to Coulomb blockade between the coupled dots. By applying negative voltages to the in-plane gates, the oscillations became periodic, which indicated the formation of a single dot in the conducting channel. These gates facilitate fabricating single-electron transistors with single dot structures, which have potential applications on its integration.  相似文献

Magneto-optical imaging in YBa(2)Cu(3)O(7-delta) with tilted columnar defects (CD's) shows an asymmetric critical-state field profile. The observed hysteretic shift of the profile ridge (trough) from the center of the sample is explained by in-plane magnetization originating from vortex alignment along CD's. The extracted ratio of the in-plane to out-of-plane magnetization component has a maximum at 1/5 of matching field ( B(Phi)) and disappears above B(Phi)/3, suggesting a reduction of interlayer coherence well below B(Phi) in the Bose glass phase. Implications are discussed in comparison with the vortex liquid recoupling observed in irradiated Bi(2)Sr(2)CaCu(2)O(8+y).  相似文献

We investigate theoretically the coherent spin dynamics of gate control of quantum dot-based electron spin–orbit qubits subjected to a tilted magnetic field under electric-dipole spin resonance (EDSR). Our results reveal that Rabi oscillation of qubit states can be manipulated electrically based on rapid gate control of SOC strength. The Rabi frequency is strongly dependent on the gate-induced electric field, the strength and orientation of the applied magnetic field. There are two major EDSR mechanisms. One arises from electric field-induced spin–orbit hybridization, and the other arises from magnetic field-induced energy-level crossing. The SOC introduced by the gate-induced electric field allows AC electric fields to drive coherent Rabi oscillations between spin-up and -down states. After the crossing of the energy-levels with the magnetic field, the spin-transfer crossing results in Rabi oscillation irrespective of whether or not the external electric field is present. The spin–orbit qubit is transferred into the orbit qubit. Rabi oscillation is anisotropic and periodic with respect to the tilted and in-plane orientation of the magnetic field originating from the interplay of the SOC, orbital, and Zeeman effects. The strong electrically-controlled SOC strength suggests the possibility for scalable applications of gate-controllable spin–orbit qubits.  相似文献

We study the in-plane stationary photocurrent in a parabolic potential well. The well has vertical asymmetry due to inhomogeneous distribution of scatterers. The electric field of light has both vertical and in-plane components. The photogalvanic effect originates from the periodic oscillation of electrons in a vertical direction caused by the normal component of the alternating electric field with simultaneous in-plane acceleration/deceleration by the in-plane component of electric field. The problem is considered in classical approximation assuming inhomogeneously-distributed friction. Photocurrent has a resonance character. Resonance occurs at light frequencies close to a characteristic well frequency. The effect of in-plane magnetic field is also studied.  相似文献

We have studied CR lineshape of terahertz-light-induced current in InAs quantum wells in tilted quantizing magnetic fields. We have observed dramatic modification of the lineshape with increasing of in-plane component of magnetic field as well as with increasing of transverse built-in electric field in the well. Scenario of the modification shows that the energy spectrum asymmetry is determined by so-called toroidal moment of the system and is a function of Landau quantum number. Macroscopic self-organization of electrons under the conditions of quantum Hall effect has also been directly demonstrated in both linear and saturation regimes of the light absorption.  相似文献

A Bose-Einstein condensate in a tilted double-well potential under the influence of time-periodic potential differences is investigated in the regime where the mean-field (Gross-Pitaevskii) dynamics become chaotic. For some parameters near stable regions, even averaging over several condensate oscillations does not remove the differences between mean-field and N-particle results. While introducing decoherence via piecewise deterministic processes reduces those differences, they are due to the emergence of mesoscopic entangled states in the chaotic regime.  相似文献

We consider a graphene bilayer in a constant magnetic field of arbitrary orientation, i.e., tilted with respect to the graphene plane. In the low energy approximation to the tight-binding model with Peierls substitution, we find the Landau level spectrum analytically in terms of spheroidal functions and the respective eigenvalues. We compare our result to the perpendicular and purely in-plane field cases. In the limit of perpendicular field we reproduce the known equidistant spectrum for Landau levels. In the opposite limit of large in-plane field this spectrum becomes two-fold degenerate, which is a consequence of Dirac point splitting induced by the in-plane field.  相似文献

The vortex-lattice melting transition in Bi(2)Sr(2)CaCu(2)O(8 + delta) single crystals was studied using in-plane resistivity measurements in magnetic fields tilted away from the c axis to the ab plane. In order to avoid the surface barrier effect which hinders the melting transition in the conventional transport measurements, we used the Corbino geometry of electric contacts. The complete H(c) - H(ab) phase diagram of the melting transition in Bi(2)Sr(2)CaCu(2)O(8 + delta) is obtained for the first time. The c-axis melting field component H(c)(melt) exhibits the novel, stepwise dependence on the in-plane magnetic fields H(ab) which is discussed on the basis of the crossing vortex-lattice structure. The peculiar resistance behavior observed near the ab plane suggests the change of phase transition character from first to second order.  相似文献

Magnetoresistance measurements have been performed for the cases of one and two occupied size-quantization hole subbands in silicon field-effect transistors prepared on the Si (110) surface. In both cases, Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations exhibit very weak sensitivity to the in-plane component of the magnetic field. This indicates that both lowest subbands are formed by heavy holes. This conclusion disagrees with the wide-spread opinion that the second subband is the ground subband of light holes in the system under consideration.  相似文献

The semiclassical motion of an electron along the axis of a superlattice may be calculated from the miniband dispersion curve. Under a weak electric field the electron executes Bloch oscillations which confines the motion along the superlattice axis. When a magnetic field, tilted with respect to the superlattice axis, is applied the electron orbits become chaotic. The onset of chaos is characterised by a complex mixed stable-chaotic phase space and an extension of the orbital trajectories along the superlattice axis. This delocalisation of the orbits is also reflected in the quantum eigenstates of the system some of which show well-defined patterns of high probability density whose shapes resemble certain semiclassical orbits. This suggests that the onset of chaos will be manifest in electron transport through a finite superlattice. We also propose that these phenomena may be observable in the motion of trapped ultra-cold atoms in an optically induced superlattice potential and magnetic quadrupole potential whose axis is tilted relative to the superlattice axis.  相似文献

Magnetotransport properties of submicron rings fabricated on the basis of 2D electron gas in a GaAs double quantum well are studied. It is shown that, in such interferometers, the Aharonov-Bohm effect is caused by coherent processes in two weakly coupled rings, which have different widths of electron channels. In these interferometers, a phase inversion of h/e oscillations is observed under the action of the parallel component of a tilted magnetic field. This phenomenon is qualitatively explained by a redistribution of charge carriers in the two rings.  相似文献

The influence of the chiral mean field on the K+ in-plane flow in heavy ion collisions at SIS energy is investigated within covariant kaon dynamics. For the kaon mesons inside the nuclear medium a quasi-particle picture including scalar and vector fields is adopted and compared to the standard treatment with a static potential. It is confirmed that a Lorentz force from spatial component of the vector field provides an important contribution to the in-medium kaon dynamics and strongly counterbalances the influence of the vector potential on the K+ in-plane flow. The calculated results show that the new FOPI data can be reasonably described using the Brown & Rho parametrization, which partly takes into account the correction of higher order contributions in the chiral expansion. This indicates that one can abstract the information on the kaon potential in a nuclear medium from the analysis of the K+ in-plane flow.  相似文献

Theory of magnetoquantum oscillations with spin-split structure in strongly anisotropic (two-dimensional (2D)) metal is developed in the formalism of level approach. Parametric method for exact calculation of oscillations wave forms and amplitudes, developed earlier for spin degenerate levels is generalized on a 2D electron system with spin-split levels. General results are proved: 1) proportionality relation between magnetization and chemical potential oscillations accounting for spin-split energy levels and magnetic field unperturbed levels (states of reservoir), 2) basic equation for chemical potential oscillations invariant to various models of 2D and 1D energy bands (intersecting or overlapping) and localized states. Equilibrium transfer of carriers between overlapping 2D and 1D bands, characterizing the band structure of organic quasi 2D metals, is considered. Transfer parameter, calculated in this model to be of the order of unity, confirms the fact that the wave form of oscillations in organic metals should be quasisymmetric up to ultralow temperature. Presented theory accounts for spin-split magnetization oscillations at magnetic field directions tilted relative to the anisotropic axis of a metal. Theoretical results are compared with available experimental data on organic quasi-2D metal α-(BEDT-TTF)2KHg(SNC)4 explaining the appearance of clear split structure under the kink magnetic field and absence above by the corresponding change in the electron g-factor rather than cyclotron mass. We show that the interband dynamics in a tilted two-band Bose-Hubbard model can be reduced to an analytically accessible spin model in the case of resonant interband oscillations. This allows us to predict the revival time of these oscillations which decay and revive due to inter-particle interactions. The presented mapping onto the spin model and the so achieved reduction of complexity has interesting perspectives for future studies of many-body systems.  相似文献

The effect of magnetic properties on magnetization dynamics is studied for a spin torque oscillator (STO) composed of a free layer with an in-plane magnetic anisotropy and a reference layer with a fixed out-of plane magnetization. A transition from damped to uniform oscillations is observed for a critical value of saturation magnetization MS). In the uniform oscillations regime, the frequency is inversely proportional to MS. Similarly, the critical current for achieving uniform oscillations is investigated as a function of free layer intrinsic properties. In a second part of the study, the magnetostatic field (Hm) from the reference layer is considered and it is revealed that the out-of plane component of magnetization has a strong dependence on Hm. For a particular configuration, Hm could reduce the out-of plane component maximizing thus the out-put signal of the STO.  相似文献

We report on detailed Hartree–Fock calculations of the unidirectional charge density wave orientation energy induced by a tilted magnetic field. We find that for current experimental samples stripes are oriented perpendicular to the in-plane field, consistent with experiment. For wider two-dimensional electron systems we predict tilt-induced stripe states with variable anisotropy energy sign.  相似文献
