This paper is concerned with the following periodic Hamiltonian elliptic system
where the potential V is periodic and has a positive bound from below, f(x, t) and g(x, t) are periodic in x, asymptotically linear in t as . By using critical point theory of strongly indefinite functionals, existence of a positive ground state solution as well as infinitely many geometrically distinct solutions for odd f and g are obtained. We consider the Dirichlet problem for semilinear elliptic equations on a smooth bounded domain Ω. We assume that Ω is symmetric about a hyperplane H and convex in the direction orthogonal to H. Employing Serrin's result on an overdetermined problem, we show that any nonzero nonnegative solution is necessarily strictly positive. One can thus apply a well-known result of Gidas, Ni and Nirenberg to conclude that the solution is reflectionally symmetric about H and decreasing away from the hyperplane in the orthogonal direction.  相似文献

Characterizations of nonnegativity of the Moore–Penrose inverse and the group inverse are presented and their role in the study of a special class of optimization spaces, namely, Ben-Israel–Charnes spaces is brought out.
