The title compound, (5,10,15,20‐tetra‐4‐pyridylporphyrinato)zinc(II) 1,2‐dichlorobenzene disolvate, [Zn(C40H24N8)]·2C6H4Cl2, contains a clathrate‐type structure. It is composed of two‐dimensional square‐grid coordination networks of the self‐assembled porphyrin moiety, which are stacked one on top of the other in a parallel manner. The interporphyrin cavities of the overlapping networks combine into channel voids accommodated by the dichlorobenzene solvent. Molecules of the porphyrin complex are located on crystallographic inversion centres. The observed two‐dimensional assembly mode of the porphyrin units represents a supramolecular isomer of the unique three‐dimensional coordination frameworks of the same porphyrin building block observed earlier. The significance of this study lies in the discovery of an additional supramolecular isomer of the rarely observed structures of metalloporphyrins self‐assembled directly into extended coordination polymers without the use of external ligand or metal ion auxiliaries.  相似文献

A combination of self‐complementary hydrogen bonding and metal–ligand interactions allows stereocontrol in the self‐assembly of prochiral ligand scaffolds. A unique, non‐tetrahedral M4L6 structure is observed upon multicomponent self‐assembly of 2,7‐diaminofluorenol with 2‐formylpyridine and Fe(ClO4)2. The stereochemical outcome of the assembly is controlled by self‐complementary hydrogen bonding between both individual ligands and a suitably sized counterion as template. This hydrogen‐bonding‐mediated stereoselective metal–ligand assembly allows the controlled formation of nonsymmetric discrete cage structures from previously unexploited ligand scaffolds.  相似文献

An organic/inorganic hybrid porphyrin derivative, namely, metal‐free tetrakisphenyl porphyrin–polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (H2TPP‐POSS) was synthesized by azide–alkyne click chemistry. The self‐assembly behavior of H2TPP‐POSS was systematically studied in CHCl3 at different concentrations and in solvents with different polarities. Novel nanovesicles could be obtained through the self‐assembly of H2TPP‐POSS in CHCl3 at a concentration lower than 10?4 m. Diffuse microrods formed at a concentration higher than 10?4 M . Additionally, the polarity of the solvent also greatly influenced the assembled morphologies, and a series of assembled morphologies, including crescent‐shaped micelles, spherical micelles, doughnut‐shaped vesicles, and ordered square sheets, could form in solvents with different polarities.  相似文献

To investigate the effects of metal–ligand coordination on the molecular structure, internal structure, dimensions, and morphology of self‐assembled nanostructures, two nonperipherally octa(alkoxyl)‐substituted phthalocyanine compounds with good crystallinity, namely, metal‐free 1,4,8,11,15,18,22,25‐octa(butyloxy)phthalocyanine H2Pc(α‐OC4H9)8 ( 1 ) and its lead complex Pb[Pc(α‐OC4H9)8] ( 2 ), were synthesized. Single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis revealed the distorted molecular structure of metal‐free phthalocyanine with a saddle conformation. In the crystal of 2 , two monomeric molecules are linked by coordination of the Pb atom of one molecule with an aza‐nitrogen atom and its two neighboring oxygen atoms from the butyloxy substituents of another molecule, thereby forming a Pb‐connected pseudo‐double‐decker supramolecular structure with a domed conformation for the phthalocyanine ligand. The self‐assembling properties of 1 and 2 in the absence and presence of sodium ions were comparatively investigated by scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), spectroscopy, and X‐ray diffraction techniques. Intermolecular π–π interactions between metal‐free phthalocyanine molecules led to the formation of nanoribbons several micrometers in length and with an average width of approximately 100 nm, whereas the phthalocyaninato lead complex self‐assembles into nanostructures also with the ribbon morphology and micrometer length but with a different average width of approximately 150 nm depending on the π–π interactions between neighboring Pb‐connected pseudo‐double‐decker building blocks. This revealed the effect of the molecular structure (conformation) associated with metal–ligand (Pb? Nisoindole, Pb? Naza, and Pb? Obutyloxy) coordination on the dimensions of the nanostructures. In the presence of Na+, additional metal–ligand (Na? Naza and Na? Obutyloxy) coordination bonds formed between sodium atoms and aza‐nitrogen atoms and the neighboring butyloxy oxygen atoms of two metal‐free phthalocyanine molecules cooperate with the intrinsic intermolecular π–π interactions, thereby resulting in an Na‐connected pseudo‐double‐decker building block with a twisted structure for the phthalocyanine ligand, which self‐assembles into twisted nanoribbons with an average width of approximately 50 nm depending on the intertetrapyrrole π–π interaction. This is evidenced by the X‐ray diffraction analysis results for the resulting aggregates. Twisted nanoribbons with an average width of approximately 100 nm were also formed from the lead coordination compound 2 in the presence of Na+ with a Pb‐connected pseudo‐double‐decker as the building block due to the formation of metal–ligand (Na? Naza and Na? Obutyloxy) coordination bonds between additionally introduced sodium ions and two phthalocyanine ligands of neighboring pseudo‐double‐decker building blocks.  相似文献

Metal–ligand coordination is a key interaction in the self‐assembly of both biopolymers and synthetic oligomers. Although the binding of metal ions to synthetic proteins and peptides is known to yield high‐order structures, the self‐assembly of peptidomimetic molecules upon metal binding is still challenging. Herein we explore the self‐assembly of three peptoid trimers bearing a bipyridine ligand at their C‐terminus, a benzyl group at their N‐terminus, and a polar group (N‐ethyl‐R) in the middle position (R=OH, OCH3, or NH2) upon Cu2+ coordination. X‐ray diffraction analysis revealed unique, highly symmetric, dinuclear cyclic structure or aqua‐bridged dinuclear double‐stranded peptoid helicates, formed by the self‐assembly of two peptoid molecules with two Cu2+ ions. Only the macrocycle with the highest number of intermolecular hydrogen bonds is stable in solution, while the other two disassemble to their corresponding monometallic complexes.  相似文献

Racemic 2,4(6)‐di‐O‐benzoyl‐myo‐inositol 1,3,5‐orthoformate, C21H18O8, (1) , shows a very efficient intermolecular benzoyl‐group migration reaction in its crystals. However, the presence of 4,4′‐bipyridine molecules in its cocrystal, C21H18O8·C10H8N2, (1)·BP , inhibits the intermolecular benzoyl‐group transfer reaction. In (1) , molecules are assembled around the crystallographic twofold screw axis (b axis) to form a helical self‐assembly through conventional O—H...O hydrogen‐bonding interactions. This helical association places the reactive C6‐O‐benzoyl group (electrophile, El) and the C4‐hydroxy group (nucleophile, Nu) in proximity, with a preorganized El...Nu geometry favourable for the acyl transfer reaction. In the cocrystal (1)·BP , the dibenzoate and bipyridine molecules are arranged alternately through O—H...N interactions. The presence of the bipyridine molecules perturbs the regular helical assembly of the dibenzoate molecules and thus restricts the solid‐state reactivity. Hence, unlike the parent dibenzoate crystals, the cocrystals do not exhibit benzoyl‐transfer reactions. This approach is useful for increasing the stability of small molecules in the crystalline state and could find application in the design of functional solids.  相似文献

The synthesis of a new, cubic M8L6 cage is described. This new assembly was characterised by using NMR spectroscopy, DOSY, TGA, MS, and molecular modelling techniques. Interestingly, the enlarged cavity size of this new supramolecular assembly allows the selective encapsulation of tetra(4‐pyridyl)metalloporphyrins (MII(TPyP), M=Zn, Co). The obtained encapsulated cobalt–porphyrin embedded in the cubic zinc–porphyrin assembly is the first example of a catalytically active encapsulated transition‐metal complex in a cubic M8L6 cage. The substrate accessibility of this system was demonstrated through radical‐trapping experiments, and its catalytic activity was demonstrated in two different radical‐type transformations. The reactivity of the encapsulated CoII(TPyP) complex is significantly increased compared to free CoII(TPyP) and other cobalt–porphyrin complexes. The reactions catalysed by this system are the first examples of cobalt–porphyrin‐catalysed radical‐type transformations involving diazo compounds which occur inside a supramolecular cage.  相似文献

Molecular evolution, with self‐organization of simple molecules towards complex functional systems, provides a new strategy for biomimetic architectonics and perspectives for understanding the complex processes of life. However, there remain many challenges to fabrication of systems comprising different types of units, which interact with one another to perform desired functions. Challenges arise from a lack of stability, dynamic properties, and functionalities that reconcile with a given environment. A co‐assembling fiber system composed of simple peptide and porphyrin is presented. This material is considered a prebiotic assembly of molecules that can be rather stable and flexibly self‐functionalized with the assistance of visible light in a “prebiotic soup”; acidic (pH 2), hot (70 °C), and mineral‐containing (Na+, Ti4+, Pt2+, and so forth) water. The co‐assembled peptide–porphyrin fiber, with self‐mineralized reaction centers, may serve as a primitive photobacteria‐like cellular model to achieve light harvesting, energy transfer, and ultimately sustainable hydrogen evolution.  相似文献

Thin films composed of polycyclohexane (PCHE), zinc(II)‐5,10,15,20‐tetra‐(2‐naphthyl)porphyrin (ZnTNpP), and [6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) blends are prepared to investigate their potential for the controlled self‐assembly of a porphyrin/fullerene donor–acceptor complex in a polymer thin film. The compatibilities of PCHE/PCBM (p), PCHE/ZnTNpP (q), and ZnTNpP/PCBM (r) in these blends have a significant effect on the dispersion of the ZnTNpP/PCBM donor–acceptor complex in the PCHE thin film. When the compatibilities are p << q, r, and q ≈ r, the ZnTNpP/PCBM donor–acceptor complex is formed between the PCHE and PCBM phases. This concept to form a controlled self‐assembly of the ZnTNpP/PCBM donor–acceptor complex may be applied to various combinations of porphyrin/fullerene systems in polymer thin film solar cells to achieve excellent performance. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Crystals of the title compounds, 20‐(4‐pyridyl)porphyrin‐54,104,154‐tribenzoic acid–dimethyl sulfoxide (2/5), C46H29N5O6·2.5C2H6OS, (I), and 20‐(4‐pyridyl)porphyrin‐54,104,154‐tribenzoic acid–4‐acetylpyridine–tetrahydrofuran (1/2/10), C46H29N5O6·2C7H7NO·10C4H8O, (II), consist of hydrogen‐bonded supramolecular chains of porphyrin units solvated by molecules of dimethyl sulfoxide [in (I)] and 4‐acetylpyridine [in (II)]. In (I), these chains consist of heterogeneous arrays with alternating porphyrin and dimethyl sulfoxide species, being sustained by COOH...O=S hydrogen bonds. They adopt a zigzag geometry and link on both sides to additional molecules of dimethyl sulfoxide. In (II), the chains consist of homogeneous linear supramolecular arrays of porphyrin units, which are directly connected to one another via COOH...N(pyridyl) hydrogen bonds. As in the previous case, these arrays are solvated on both sides by molecules of the 4‐acetylpyridine ligand via similar COOH(porphyrin)...N(ligand) hydrogen bonds. The two crystal structures contain wide interporphyrin voids, which accommodate disordered/diffused solvent molecules, viz. dimethyl sulfoxide in (I) and tetrahydrofuran in (II).  相似文献

Metalloporphyrin complexes containing an additional imidazole ligand can provide information about the effect of deprotonation or hydrogen bonding on the axial histidine unit in heme proteins. The title high‐spin five‐coordinate imidazolate‐ligated iron(II) porphyrinate, [K(C18H36N2O6)][Fe(C4H5N2)(C44H28N4)]·C4H6N2·2C4H8O, has been synthesized and investigated. The solvated salt crystallizes with one 2‐methylimidazole molecule, two tetrahydrofuran solvent molecules and a potassium cation chelated inside a cryptand‐222 (4,7,13,16,21,24‐hexaoxa‐1,10‐diazabicyclo[8.8.8]hexacosane) molecule. The imidazolate ligand is ordered. The average Fe—Np (Np is a porphyrin N atom) bond length is 2.113 (11) Å and the axial Fe—NIm (NIm is an imidazolate N atom) is 2.0739 (13) Å. The out‐of‐plane displacement of the FeII atom from the 24‐atom mean plane is 0.6098 (5) Å, indicating an apparent doming of the porphyrin core.  相似文献

BF2‐chelated dipyrromethene, BODIPY, was functionalized to carry two styryl crown ether tails and a secondary electron donor at the meso position. By using a “two‐point” self‐assembly strategy, a bis‐alkylammonium‐functionalized fullerene (C60) was allowed to self‐assemble the crown ether voids of BODIPY to obtain multimodular donor–acceptor conjugates. As a consequence of the two‐point binding, the 1:1 stoichiometric complexes formed yielded complexes of higher stability in which fluorescence of BODIPY was found to be quenched; this suggested the occurrence of excited‐state processes. The geometry and electronic structure of the self‐assembled complexes were derived from B3LYP/3‐21G(*) methods in which no steric constraints between the entities was observed. An energy‐level diagram was established by using spectral, electrochemical, and computational results to help understand the mechanistic details of excited‐state processes originating from 1bis‐styryl‐BODIPY*. Femtosecond transient absorbance studies were indicative of the formation of an exciplex state prior to the charge‐separation process to yield a bis‐styryl‐BODIPY . +–C60 . radical ion pair. The time constants for charge separation were generally lower than charge‐recombination processes. The present studies bring out the importance of multimode binding strategies to obtain stable self‐assembled donor–acceptor conjugates capable of undergoing photoinduced charge separation needed in artificial photosynthetic applications.  相似文献

Two novel nonsymmetrical disc‐shaped molecules 1 and 2 based on 3,3′‐bis(acylamino)‐2,2′‐bipyridine units were synthesized by means of a statistical approach. Discotic 1 possesses six chiral dihydrocitronellyl tails and one peripheral phenyl group, whereas discotic 2 possesses six linear dodecyloxy tails and one peripheral pyridyl group. Preorganization by strong intramolecular hydrogen bonding and subsequent aromatic interactions induce self‐assembly of the discotics. Liquid crystallinity of 1 and 2 was determined with the aid of polarized optical microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and X‐ray diffraction. Two columnar rectangular mesophases (Colr) have been identified, whereas for C3‐symmetrical derivatives only one Colr mesophase has been found. 1 In solution, the molecularly dissolved state in chloroform was studied with 1H NMR spectroscopy, whereas the self‐assembled state in apolar solution was examined with optical spectroscopy. Remarkably, these desymmetrized discotics, which lack one aliphatic wedge, behave similar to the symmetric parent compound. To prove that the stacking behavior of discotics 1 and 2 is similar to that of reported C3‐symmetrical derivatives, a mixing experiment of chiral 1 with C3‐symmetrical 13 has been undertaken; it has shown that they indeed belong to one type of self‐assembly. This helical J‐type self‐assembly was further confirmed with UV/Vis and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. Eventually, disc 2 , functionalized with a hydrogen‐bonding acceptor moiety, might perform secondary interactions with molecules such as acids.  相似文献

Easy access to discrete nanoclusters in metal‐folded single‐chain nanoparticles (metal‐SCNPs) and independent ultrafine sudomains in the assemblies via coordination‐driven self‐assembly of hydrophilic copolymer containing 9% imidazole groups is reported herein. 1H NMR, dynamic light scattering, and NMR diffusion‐ordered spectroscopy results demonstrate self‐assembly into metal‐SCNPs (>70% imidazole‐units folded) by neutralization in the presence of Cu(II) in water to pH 4.6. Further neutralization induces self‐assembly of metal‐SCNPs (pH 4.6–5.0) and shrinkage (pH 5.0–5.6), with concurrent restraining residual imidazole motifs and hydrophilic segment, which organized into constant nanoparticles over pH 5.6–7.5. Atomic force microscopy results evidence discrete 1.2 nm nanoclusters and sub‐5‐nm subdomains in metal‐SCNP and assembled nanoparticle. Reduction of metal center using sodium ascorbate induces structural rearrangement to one order lower than the precursor. Enzyme mimic catalysis required media‐tunable discrete ultrafine interiors in metal‐SCNPs and assemblies have hence been achieved.  相似文献

Donor–bridge–acceptor triad (Por‐2TV‐C60) and tetrad molecules ((Por)2‐2TV‐C60), which incorporated C60 and one or two porphyrin molecules that were covalently linked through a phenylethynyl‐oligothienylenevinylene bridge, were synthesized. Their photodynamics were investigated by fluorescence measurements, and by femto‐ and nanosecond laser flash photolysis. First, photoinduced energy transfer from the porphyrin to the C60 moiety occurred rather than electron transfer, followed by electron transfer from the oligothienylenevinylene to the singlet excited state of the C60 moiety to produce the radical cation of oligothienylenevinylene and the radical anion of C60. Then, back‐electron transfer occurred to afford the triplet excited state of the oligothienylenevinylene moiety rather than the ground state. Thus, the porphyrin units in (Por)‐2TV‐C60 and (Por)2‐2TV‐C60 acted as efficient photosensitizers for the charge separation between oligothienylenevinylene and C60.  相似文献

The convergence of supramolecular chemistry and polymer science offers many powerful approaches for building functional nanostructures with well‐defined dynamic behaviour. Herein we report the efficient “click” synthesis and self‐assembly of AB2‐ and AB4‐type multitopic porphyrin–polymer conjugates (PPCs). PPCs were prepared using the copper(I)‐catalysed azide–alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) reaction, and consisted of linear polystyrene, poly(butyl acrylate), or poly(tert‐butyl acrylate) arms attached to a zinc(II) porphyrin core via triazole linkages. We exploit the presence of the triazole groups obtained from CuAAC coupling to direct the self‐assembly of the PPCs into short oligomers (2–6 units in length) via intermolecular porphyrinatozinc–triazole coordination. By altering the length and grafting density of the polymer arms, we demonstrate that the association constant of the porphyrinatozinc–triazole complex can be systematically tuned over two orders of magnitude. Self‐assembly of the PPCs also resulted in a 6 K increase in the glass transition temperature of the bulk material compared to a non‐assembling PPC. The modular synthesis and tunable self‐assembly of the triazole‐linked PPCs thus represents a powerful supramolecular platform for building functional nanostructured materials.  相似文献

Our study first focus on two types of corrole dimers oxidized and reduced forms on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) surface. Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and contact angle measurement (CAM) were used to investigate the self‐assembled monolayers of corrole dimers adsorbed on HOPG surfaces at room temperature in air. XPS and CAM results have confirmed both two molecules adsorbed on an HOPG surface and formed self‐assembled films, and STM experiments found that the corrole dimers adsorbed on HOPG surfaces form similar lobes. The different stable space structure of the oxidized form molecule (OFM) and reduced form molecule (RFM), led to the diversity of the tetramer structural dimensions. The occurrence of molecular aggregations and assembly was controlled by the interactions between molecular–molecular and molecule–substrate. The electrostatic interactions between the molecules control the geometrical sizes and molecule–substrate interactions determine topographical shapes of the self‐assembled corrole dimers on HOPG surface. Double‐decker complexes based on single‐molecule magnets (SMMs) are a class of highly promising molecules for applications in molecular spintronics, wherein control of both the ligand oxidative states and the 2D supramolecular structure on carbon materials is of great importance. This study focuses on the synthesis and study of 2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18‐octaethylporphyrin (OEP)–TbIII double‐decker complexes with different electronic structures comprising protonated, anionic, and radical forms. Magnetic susceptibility measurements revealed that only the anionic and radical forms of the OEP–TbIII double‐decker complexes exhibited SMM properties. The barrier heights for magnetic moment reversal were estimated to be 207 and 215 cm?1 for the anionic and radical forms, respectively. Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) investigations revealed that these OEP–TbIII complexes form well‐ordered monolayers upon simple dropcasting from dilute dichloromethane solutions. All three complexes form an isomorphic pseudo‐hexagonal 2D pattern, regardless of the differences in the electronic structures of their porphyrin–Tb cores. This finding is of interest for SMM technology as ultrathin films of these materials undergoing chemical transformations will not require any detrimental reorganization. Finally, we demonstrate self‐assembly of the protonated 5,15‐bisdodecylporphyrin (BDP)–TbIII double‐decker complex as an example of successful supramolecular design to achieve controlled alignment of SMM‐active sites.  相似文献

Artificial antenna complexes of metal‐coordinated bis(8‐hydroxyquinoline)‐substituted porphyrin networks that mimic antenna chromophores in plants were organized on titanium dioxide electrodes in photoelectrochemical cells. The generated photocurrents can be optimized according to the two ways of porphyrin self‐assembly due to the “antenna effect”: changing the number of assembled porphyrin monolayers and the number of generations of the metal‐coordinated porphyrin networks.  相似文献

Highly conductive, crystalline, polymer electrolytes, β‐cyclodextrin (β‐CD)–polyethylene oxide (PEO)/LiAsF6 and β‐CD–PEO/NaAsF6, were prepared through supramolecular self‐assembly of PEO, β‐CD, and LiAsF6/NaAsF6. The assembled β‐CDs form nanochannels in which the PEO/X+ (X=Li, Na) complexes are confined. The nanochannels provide a pathway for directional motion of the alkali metal ions and, at the same time, separate the cations and the anions by size exclusion.  相似文献
