A novel chemiluminescence (CL) flow system has been developed for the sequential determination of Fe(II) and Fe(III) in water. Fe(II) was detected by its catalytic effect on the CL reaction between luminol immobilized on an anion exchange resin column and dissolved oxygen; Fe(III) was determined by difference measurement after on-line conversion to Fe(II) in a reducing mini-column packed with Cu plated Zn granules. For both ions, the calibration graph was linear in the range 1 × 10–9 to 1 × 10–6 g/mL, and the detection limit was 4 × 10–10 g/mL. A complete analysis could be performed in 1.5 min with a relative standard deviation of less than 5%. The system could be reused for over 200 times and has been applied successfully to the determination of Fe(II) and Fe(III) in natural water samples. The method exploits the possibilities of flow injection gradient titration in a system of reversed flow with spectrophotometric detection. In the developed approach a small amount of titrant (EDTA) is injected into a stream of sample containing a mixture of indicators (sulfosalicylic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline). In acid environment sulfosalicylic acid forms a complex with Fe(III), whereas 1,10-phenanthroline forms a complex with Fe(II). Measurements are performed at wavelength λ = 530 nm when radiation is absorbed by both complexes. After injection EDTA replaces sulfosalicylic acid and forms with Fe(III) more stable colourless complex. As a result, a characteristic “cut off” peak is registered with a width corresponding to the Fe(III) concentration and with a height corresponding to the Fe(II) concentration. Calibration was performed by titration of four two-component standard solutions of the Fe(II)/Fe(III) concentrations established in accordance with 22 factorial plan. The method was tested with the use of synthetic samples and then it was applied to the analysis of water samples taken from artesian wells. Under optimized experimental conditions Fe(II) and Fe(III) were determined with precision less than 0.8 and 2.5% (RSD) and accuracy less than 3.2 and 5.1% (relative error) within the concentration ranges of 0.1-3.0 and 0.9-3.5 mg L−1 of both analytes, respectively.  相似文献

The method is based on spectrophotometric determination of Fe(II) and Fe(III) at a single wavelength (530 nm) with the use of a dedicated reversed-flow injection system. In the system, EDTA solution is injected into a carrier stream (HNO3) and then merged with a sample stream containing a mixture of sulfosalicylic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline as indicators. In an acid environment (pH ≅ 3) the indicators form complexes with both Fe(III) and Fe(II), but EDTA replaces sulfosalicylic acid, forming a more stable colourless complex with Fe(III), whereas Fe(II) remains in a complex with 1,10-phenenthroline. As a result, the area and minimum of the characteristic peak can be exploited as measures corresponding to the Fe(III) and Fe(II) concentrations, respectively. The analytes were not found to affect each other's signals, hence two analytical curves were constructed with the use of a set of standard solutions, each containing Fe(II) and Fe(III). Both analytes were determined in synthetic samples within the concentration ranges of 0.05–4.0 and 0.09–6.0 mg L−1, respectively, with precision less than 1.5 and 2.6% (RSD) and with accuracy less than 4.3 and 5.6% (RE). The method was applied to determination of the analytes in water samples collected from artesian wells and the results of the determination were consistent with those obtained using the ICP-OES technique.  相似文献

An asynchronous merging zones was proposed with simultaneous introduction of the sample and of the modifier reagent, ascorbic acid in the studied case, for sequential determination of Fe(II) and Fe(III) in pharmaceutical products. The sample and reagent attained a merging point at different times owing to the use of a delay reactor in the reagent channel. By inserting a large sample and controlling the dispersion in the flow system, Fe(II) and Fe(III) were sequentially measured in the front and in the rear of the sample zone, respectively. The results obtained for Fe redox speciation in pharmaceutical products are in agreement at a 95% confidence level with those obtained with a manual spectrophotometric procedure. The analytical frequency with the proposed flow analysis system was 54 samples h(-1), i.e. 108 determinations h(-1).  相似文献

A novel chemiluminescence(CL) flow system for sulfite is described based on electrostatically immobilized luminol on an anion exchange column. Sulfite is detected by the CL reaction with luminol bleeding from the column by hydrolysis. The calibration graph is linear in the range 3 × 10–7 to 1 × 10–5 mol/L, and the detection limit is 1 × 10–7 mol/L. Interfering metal ions co-existing in sample solutions could be effectively eliminated on-line by an upstream cation exchanger. A complete analysis could be performed in 1 min with a relative standard deviation of less than 5%. The system could be reused for over 50 h and has been applied successfully to the determination of sulfur dioxide in air. Flow injection analysis, with chemiluminescence detection, is used to determine traces of cobalt(II) by means of the gallic acid—hydrogen peroxide—sodium hydroxide system containing a small amount of methanol to increase the sensitivity. This permits the determination of cobalt(II) more selectively than any other chemiluminescent system with a detection limit of 0.04 μg l-1 (continuous sample flow) or 0.04 ng (10-μl sample injection). The linear range is 3 orders of magnitude, the sampling rate is 20 h-1, and the relative standard deviation is 5.9% for 0.06 ng Co(II) (n = 10). Silver(I), the strongest enhancer after cobalt(II), provides a signal 1.3% of that for Co(II). A few precipitants and complexing agents suppress the signal.  相似文献

An ITP method for the simultaneous determination of Fe(II) and Fe(III) in waters, based on separation of their EDTA and fluoride complexes, respectively, was developed. The leading electrolyte used consists of chlorides, La(III) as co-counter ion and is buffered with beta-alanine to pH = 3.5. The terminating electrolyte contains caproic acid and L-histidine (pH = 4.5). The method was validated and tested with samples of artificial, ground and treated water with good results, comparable to those obtained by other analytical techniques. Fe(II) and Fe(III) up to 20 mg/L were measured with an RSD = 1.4-1.5% and detection and determination limits of 0.8-0.9 and 3.0-3.5 mg/L, respectively. The ITP method can be recommended for routine utilization in hydroanalytical laboratories.  相似文献

A novel chemiluminescence (CL) system for ammonium ion combined with flow-injection analysis is presented in this paper. It is based on the CL reaction between luminol, immobilized electrostatically on an anion-exchange column, and chlorine electrochemically generated on-line via a platinum electrode from hydrochloric acid in a coulometric cell. Ammonium ion reacts with chlorine and decreases the observed CL intensity. The system responds linearly to ammonium ion concentration in the range 1.0-100 muM, and the detection limit is 0.4 muM. A complete analysis, including sampling and washing, could be performed in 1 min with a relative standard deviation of <6.0%. The system is stable for over 500 determinations and has been applied successfully to the determination of ammonium ion in rainwater samples.  相似文献

Titanium(III) and iron(II) are shown to stimulate luminol chemiluminescence in the absence of added oxidant. Down to 10?9 M titanium can be determined. Both metal ions also produce chemiluminescence when injected into 0.1 M carbonate buffer (pH 10.4), allowing >10?6 M of each to be determined. The intensities are greater when the solutions have been deoxygenated by a stream of nitrogen, and when rhodamine B is used as a sensitizer.  相似文献

A new chemiluminescence (CL) method combined with flow injection technique is described for the determination of Cr(III) and total Cr. It is found that a strong CL signal is generated from the reaction of Cr(III), lucigenin and KIO4 in alkaline condition. The determination of total Cr is performed by pre-reduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III) by using H2SO3. The CL intensity is linearly related to the concentration of Cr in the range 4.0 × 10−10–1.0 × 10−6 g mL−1. The detection limit (3s b) is 1 × 10−10 g mL−1 Cr and the relative standard deviation is 1.9% (5.0 × 10−8 g mL−1 of Cr(III) solution, n = 11). The method was applied to the determination of Cr(III) and total Cr in water samples and compared satisfactorily with the official method.  相似文献

The H-point standard addition method (HPSAM) was applied to kinetic data for simultaneous determination of Fe(III) and Fe(II) or selective determination of Fe(III) in the presence of Fe(II). The method is based on the difference in the rate of two processes; reduction of Fe(III) with Co(II) and subsequent complex formation of resulted Fe(II) with 1,10-phenanthroline, and direct complex formation between Fe(II) and 1,10-phenanthroline in pH 3 and cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide, CTAB, micellar media. Fe(III) can be determined in the range of 0.75-5.13 mug ml(-1)with satisfactory accuracy and precision in the presence of excess Fe(II) under working conditions. The proposed method was successfully applied to the simultaneous determination of Fe(III) and Fe(II) and also to the selective determination of Fe(III) in the presence of Fe(II) in several synthetic mixtures containing different concentration ratios of Fe(III) to Fe(II).  相似文献

Novel Fe(III)Fe(III) and Fe(II)Fe(III) complexes [Fe(2)(BBPMP)(&mgr;-OAc)(&mgr;-X)](n)() (1, X = OAc(-), n = 1+; 2, X = OH(-), n = 1+; 3, X = OAc(-), n = 0; 4, X = OH(-), n = 0), where BBPMP(3)(-) is the anion of 2,6-bis[(2-hydroxybenzyl)(2-pyridylmethyl)aminomethyl]-4-methylphenol, and OAc(-) is acetate, were prepared in order to provide models for the active site of purple acid phosphatases (PAPs). Complex 1 was obtained by the reaction of H(3)BBPMP with Fe(ClO(4))(2).6H(2)O in methanol and sodium acetate trihydrate under ambient conditions, while complex 3 was synthesized as described for 1, under an argon atmosphere with low levels of dioxygen. 2 was isolated from 1in acetonitrile by a substitution of the bridging acetate group by hydroxide, while 4 was generated in solution during a spectropotentiostatic experiment on 2, under argon. Complex 1, [Fe(III)(2)(BBPMP)(&mgr;-OAc)(2)]ClO(4).H(2)O, has been characterized by X-ray crystallography. Crystal data: monoclinic, space group P2(1)/n, a = 14.863(5) ?, b = 12.315(3) ?, c = 20.872(8) ?, beta = 90.83(3) degrees, Z = 4. IR, M?ssbauer, magnetic, electronic absorption, and electrochemical properties of 1-3 have been investigated, and some of these properties represent a contribution to the understanding of the dinuclear iron center of PAPs. Complexes 2, [Fe(III)(2)(BBPMP)(&mgr;-OAc)(&mgr;-OH)]ClO(4) (lambda(max) = 568 nm/epsilon = 4760 M(-)(1) cm(-)(1)), and 4 [Fe(II)Fe(III)(BBPMP)(&mgr;-OAc)(&mgr;-OH)] (lambda(max) = 516 nm/epsilon = 4560 M(-)(1) cm(-)(1)), constitute good synthetic analogues for the chromophoric site for the oxidized and reduced forms, respectively, of the enzyme.  相似文献

A new PVC membrane potentiometric sensor that is highly selective to Fe(III) ions was prepared by using 2-[(2-hydroxy-1-propenyl-buta-1,3-dienylimino)-methyl]-4-p-tolylazo-phenol [HPDTP] as a suitable carrier. The electrode exhibits a linear response for iron(III) ions over a wide concentration range (3.5 × 10−6 to 4.0 × 10−2) with a super Nernstian slope of 28.5 (±0.5) per decade. The electrode can be used in the pH range from 4.5 to 6.5. The proposed sensor shows fairly a good discriminating ability towards Fe3+ ion in comparison to some hard and soft metals such as Fe2+, Cd2+, Cu2+, Al3+ and Ca2+. It has a response time of <15 s and can be used for at least 2 months without any measurable divergence in response characteristics. The electrode was used in the direct determination of Fe3+ in aqueous samples and as an indicator electrode in potentiometric titration of Fe(III) ions.  相似文献

The H-point standard addition method (HPSAM) for simultaneous determination of Fe(II) and Fe(III) is described. The method is based on the difference in the rate of complex formation of iron in two different oxidation states with Gallic acid (GA) at pH 5. Fe(II) and Fe(III) can be determined in the range of 0.02–4.50 μg ml−1 and 0.05–5.00 μg ml−1, respectively, with satisfactory accuracy and precision in the presence of other metal ions, which rapidly form complexes with GA under working conditions. The proposed method was successfully applied for simultaneous determination of Fe(II) and Fe(III) in several environmental and synthetic samples with different concentration ratios of Fe(II) and Fe(III).  相似文献

Potentiometric titrations of metal ions with EDTA have been carried out with a platinum or graphite electrode and the Fe(III)/Fe(II) redox system. In the absence of oxygen and for pH < 2 the titration curves may be described by an equation similar to that given previously for titrations with silver and mercury electrodes. Titration curves for bismuth and indium, which are more strongly complexed than iron, are asymmetrical and useful for analytical purposes. When the titrated ions are complexed less strongly than iron(III) ions the kinetics of metal complexation have a pronounced effect. The titration curves of thorium and copper, which react more rapidly than iron, are analytically useful. The curves recorded rapidly after titrant additions have a better end-point break than those which correspond to thermodynamic equilibrium. When a metal, e.g., nickel, is weakly bound by EDTA, and reacts more slowly than iron, a very small end-point break or none at all is observed.  相似文献

A novel chemiluminescence (CL) flow-through sensor for the determination of pyrogallol has been developed. The method is based on the reaction between pyrogallol and potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) in sodium hydroxide solution. Potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) involved in the CL reaction was electrostatically immobilized on anion-exchange resin packed in a column. Pyrogallol was sensed by the CL reaction between pyrogallol and potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) which was eluted from the ion-exchange column through sodium phosphate injection. The CL emission allows quantitation of pyrogallol concentration in the range 0.01-3.8 microg/mL with a detection limit (3 sigma) of 0.003 microg/mL and a sample throughput of 118 h(-1). The relative standard deviation (n=7) was 2.2% for 0.2 microg/mL of pyrogallol. The influence of foreign compounds was tested.  相似文献

Summary The two-component complexometric potentiometric titration has been applied to the simultaneous determination of Fe(III) and Fe(II), and of Fe(III) and Ni(II) in solution. In each case the two analytes were determined by reading the end-points directly from the titration curve. The end-points are determined in a sense arbitrarily, but they are repeatable and easy to be detected precisely. However, the apparent (found) analytical results are biased. They are effectively corrected with the use of a set of two calibration equations (uncomplete second degree polynomials), which approximate the relationship between found endpoints and true concentrations of analytes in solution. The regression coefficients in the equations are determined on the basis of titration data obtained for standard solutions whose compositions correspond to a 22 factorial. A new analytical method was developed for on-line monitoring of residual coagulants (aluminium and iron salts) in potable water. The determination was based on a sequential procedure coupling an extraction/enrichment step of the analytes onto a modified resin and a spectrophotometric measurement of a surfactant-sensitized binary complex formed between eluted analytes and Chrome Azurol S. The optimization of the solid phase extraction was performed using factorial design and a Doehlert matrix considering six variables: sample percolation rate, sample metal concentration, flow-through sample volume (all three directly linked to the extraction step), elution flow rate, concentration and volume of eluent (all three directly linked to the elution step). A specific reagent was elaborated for sensitive and specific spectrophotometric determination of Al(III) and Fe(III), by optimizing surfactant and ligand concentrations and buffer composition. The whole procedure was automated by a multisyringe flow injection analysis (MSFIA) system. Detection limits of 4.9 and 5.6 μg L−1 were obtained for Al(III) and Fe(III) determination , respectively, and the linear calibration graph up to 300 μg L−1 (both for Al(III) and Fe(III)) was well adapted to the monitoring of drinking water quality. The system was successfully applied to the on-site determination of Al(III) and Fe(III) at the outlet of two water treatment units during two periods of the year (winter and summer conditions).  相似文献
