The vibronically excited but jet-cooled 2,4,5-trimethylbenzyl (duryl) radical was formed in a corona excitation from precursor 1,2,4,5-tetramethylbenzene (durene) seeded in a large amount of inert carrier gas helium using a pinhole-type glass nozzle. The vibronically resolved emission spectrum of the jet-cooled duryl radical was recorded, for the first time, with a long path monochromator in the visible region. The spectrum was analyzed to obtain an accurate electronic energy of the D1-->D0 transition and vibrational mode frequencies in the ground electronic state by comparing with those of the precursor and those from an ab initio calculation.  相似文献

We observed, for the first time, the vibronic emission spectrum of the jet-cooled mesityl radical that was formed from mesitylene seeded in a large amount of inert carrier gas helium using a pinhole-type glass nozzle in a corona excited supersonic expansion. The well-resolved vibronic emission spectrum was recorded in the visible region with a long path monochromator. The spectrum was analyzed to identify the origin of the D(2) --> D(0) and D(1) --> D(0) transitions as well as the frequencies of the vibrational modes in the ground electronic state of the mesityl radical by comparison with those of the known data of the precursor and an ab initio calculation.  相似文献

The jet-cooled 2-fluoro-m-xylyl radical was generated and vibronically excited in a corona excited supersonic expansion from precursor 2-fluoro-m-xylene seeded in a large amount of carrier gas helium. The well-resolved visible vibronic emission spectrum of the jet-cooled 2-fluoro-m-xylyl radical was recorded using a long-path monochromator. From the analysis of the spectrum, we determine an accurate electronic energy of the D(1) → D(0) transition and the frequencies of vibrational modes in the ground electronic state by comparison with those of ab initio calculations and the known spectroscopic data of 2-fluoro-m-xylene for the first time.  相似文献

The vibronic structure of the S0 --> S1 and the S0 --> S2 electronic transitions of acetylene is studied theoretically based on an ab initio quantum-dynamical approach. The underlying potential-energy surfaces and transition dipole moment functions are obtained from high-level multireference calculations, including the Davidson correction. Ensuing quantum-dynamical simulations rely on the wave-packet propagation method, using grid techniques, and including three nuclear degrees of freedom (C-C stretching and both HCC bending modes for J = 0). The importance of strong anharmonicity is assessed, especially for the S2 excited state with its unusual potential-energy surface. Good overall agreement with the experimental UV absorption spectrum of acetylene is achieved in the range of 6-8 eV.  相似文献

A ground-state dimer (denoted D(I)) exhibiting a strong absorption maximum at 477 nm (epsilon = 97 000 M(-1)cm(-1)) can form between adjacent BODIPY groups attached to mutant forms of the protein, plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1 (PAI-1). No fluorescence from excited D(I) was detected. A locally high concentration of BODIPY groups was also achieved by doping lipid phases (micelles, vesicles) with BODIPY-labeled lipids. In addition to an absorption band located at about 480 nm, a new weak absorption band is also observed at ca. 570 nm. Both bands are ascribed to the formation of BODIPY dimers of different conformation (D(I) and D(II)). Contrary to D(I) in PAI-1, the D(II) aggregates absorbing at 570 nm are emitting light observed as a broad band centered at about 630 nm. The integrated absorption band of D(I) is about twice that of the monomer, which is compatible with exciton coupling within a dimer. The F?rster radius of electronic energy transfer between a BODIPY excited monomer and the ground-state dimer (D(I)()) is 57 +/- 2 A. A simple model of exciton coupling suggests that in D(I) two BODIPY groups are stacked on top of each other in a sandwich-like configuration with parallel electronic transition dipoles. For D(II) the model suggests that the S(0) --> S(1) transition dipoles are colinear. An explanation for the previously reported (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1994, 116, 7801) exceptional light spectroscopic properties of BODIPY is also presented. These are ascribed to the extraordinary electric properties of the BODIPY chromophore. First, changes of the permanent electric dipole moment (Delta(mu) approximately -0.05 D) and polarizability (-26 x 10(-40) C m(2) V(-1)) between the ground and the first excited states are small. Second, the S(0) <--> S(1) electronic transition dipole moments are perpendicular to Delta(mu).  相似文献

A new Eu(III) germanate, KEuGe2O6, has been synthesized by both the flux-growth method and the high-temperature, high-pressure hydrothermal method and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The compound contains parallel zigzag chains of edge-sharing Eu-O polyhedra, which are in turn linked by sharing vertices and edges with three-membered single ring Ge3O9(6-) germanate anions to form a 3-D framework structure. The magnetic and luminescence properties were also investigated. The observed chiMT value at 300 K is 4.53 emu K mol(-1), which is in good agreement with the calculated value for three Eu3+ ions. The sharp peaks in the room-temperature emission spectrum are assigned. The number of lines in the region of the 5D0-->7F0 transition and the relative intensities of the 5D0-->7F1 and 5D0-->7F2 transitions confirm the presence of two local Eu3+ environments and strongly distorted Eu3+-ligand surroundings. The reasons for the very short emission life time is discussed. The Sm and Tb analogues have also been synthesized.  相似文献

The first pi-extended tetrathiafulvalene (exTTF) dimer in which the two exTTF units are covalently connected by 1,3-dithiole rings has been obtained in a multistep synthetic procedure involving the Ullmann cross-coupling reaction by using copper(I) thiophene-2-carboxylate (CuTC). The electronic spectrum reveals a significant electronic interaction between the exTTF units. The electrochemical study carried out by cyclic voltammetry in solution and in thin-layer conditions, and the electrochemical simulation and spectroelectrochemical (SEC) measurements confirm the electronic communication and show that the oxidation of dimer 14 occurs as two consecutive 2 e(-) processes D(0)-D(0)-->D(2+)-D(0)-->D(2+)-D(2+). Theoretical calculations, performed at the B3P86/6-31G* level, confirm the experimental findings and predict that 14(2+) exists as a delocalized D(.+)-D(.+) species in the gas phase and as a localized D(2+)-D(0) species in solution (CH(3)CN or CH(2)Cl(2)). Oxidation of 14(2+) forms the tetracation 14(4+) which is constituted by two aromatic anthracene units bearing four aromatic, almost orthogonal 1,3-dithiolium cations.  相似文献

Three new europium complexes, [Eu(PBI)3.3H2O] (1), [Eu(PBI)3.2TOPO] (2), and [Eu(PBI)3.2TPPO.H2O] (3) (where HPBI, TOPO, and TPPO stand for 3-phenyl-4-benzoyl-5-isoxazolone, tri-n-octylphosphine oxide, and triphenylphosphine oxide, respectively), with different neutral ligands were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared, (1)H NMR, thermogravimetric analysis, and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The coordination geometries of the complexes were calculated using the Sparkle/AM1 (Sparkle Model for the Calculation of Lanthanide Complexes within the Austin Model 1) model. The ligand-Eu3+ energy-transfer rates were calculated in terms of a model of the intramolecular energy-transfer process in lanthanide coordination compounds reported in the literature. The room-temperature PL spectra of the europium(III) complexes are composed of the typical Eu3+ red emission, assigned to transitions between the first excited state (5D0) and the multiplet (7F(0-4)). On the basis of emission spectra and lifetimes of the 5D0-emitting level, the emission quantum efficiency (eta) was determined. The results clearly show that the substitution of water molecules by TOPO leads to greatly enhanced quantum efficiency (i.e., 26% vs 92%) and longer 5D0 lifetimes (250 vs 1160 micros). This can be ascribed to a more efficient ligand-to-metal energy transfer and a less nonradiative 5D0 relaxation process. Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters (Omega2 and Omega4) were determined from the emission spectra for the Eu3+ ion based on the 5D0 --> 7F2 and 5D0 --> 7F4 electronic transitions, respectively, and the 5D0 --> 7F1 magnetic-dipole-allowed transition was taken as the reference. A point to be noted in these results is the relatively high value of the Omega2 intensity parameter for all of the complexes. This may be interpreted as being a consequence of the hypersensitive behavior of the 5D0 --> 7F2 transition. The dynamic coupling mechanism is, therefore, dominant, indicating that the Eu3+ ion is in a highly polarizable chemical environment.  相似文献

The B-X electronic transition of jet-cooled BS2 has been observed using laser-induced fluorescence techniques. The boron disulfide radical was produced in a pulsed electric discharge jet using a mixture of BCl3 and CS2 in high-pressure argon as the precursor. The spectrum consists of a strong 0(0)(0) band with the 2Sigma-2Pi(3/2) component at 24,393.2 cm(-1) and short progressions in the symmetric stretching (nu1' = 506.7 cm(-1)) and bending (nu2' = 303.2 cm(-1)) modes. A rotational analysis of both spin-orbit components of the 0(0)(0) band gave an upper state B value of 0.0932779(19) cm(-1) and a ground-state spin-orbit coupling constant of A = -405.163(4) cm(-1). The ground-state bond length of 1.66492 angstroms increases to 1.6812(1) angstroms on sigmau --> pig electronic excitation. The B-X data have been used to further refine the Renner-Teller analysis, which is in good agreement with our previous work [J. Chem. Phys. 119, 2047 (2003)].  相似文献

The crystal structure and luminescence properties of flux-grown crystals of a new europium(III) fluoride-silicate, K5Eu2FSi4O13, are reported. The structure consists of octahedral dimers of the composition [Eu2O10F], which are linked by unbranched tetrasilicate chains to form a 3-D framework with 5- and 6-ring channels parallel to the b axis where the K+ cations are located. The sharp peaks in the room-temperature emission spectrum are assigned. The number of lines in the region for the 5D0-->7F0 transition and the relative intensities of the 5D0-->7F1 and 5D0-->7F2 transitions confirm the presence of two local Eu3+ environments and strongly distorted Eu3+-ligand surroundings. The room-temperature fluorescence decay curves are well fit by a single-exponential function yielding a lifetime value of about 2.0 ms. Crystal data: monoclinic, space group P21/m, a=7.1850(2) A, b=5.7981(2) A, c=18.1675(6) A, beta=92.248(2) degrees , and Z=2.  相似文献

The diimide perylene motif exhibits a dramatic intensity reversal between the 0 --> 0 and 0 --> 1 vibronic bands upon pi-pi stacking; this distinct spectral property has previously been used to measure folding dynamics in covalently bound oligomers and synthetic biological hybrid foldamers. It is also used as a tool to assess organization of the pi-stacking, indicating the presence of H- or J-aggregation. The zeroth-order exciton model, often used to describe the optical properties of chromophoric aggregates, is solely a transition dipole coupling scheme, which ignores the explicit electronic structure of the system as well as vibrational coupling to the electronic transition. We have therefore examined the optical properties of gas-phase perylene tetracarboxylic diimide (PTCDI) and its chromophoric dimer as a function of conformation to relate the excited-state distributions predicted by exciton theory with that of time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT). Using ground- and excited-state geometries, the Franck-Condon (FC) factors for the lowest energy molecular nature electronic transition have been calculated and the origin of the intensity reversal of 0 --> 0 and 0 --> 1 vibronic bands has been proposed.  相似文献

Charge transfer (CT) transitions between the C-terminal carboxylate and peptide group have been investigated for alanyl-X and X-alanine dipeptides by far-UV absorption and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectroscopy (where X represents different amino acid residues). The spectra used in the present study were obtained by subtracting the spectrum of the cationic species from that of the corresponding zwitterionic peptide spectrum. These spectra displayed three bands, e.g., band I between 44 and 50 kK (kK = 10(3) cm(-1)), band II at 53 kK, and band III above 55 kK, which were, respectively, assigned to a n(COO-) --> pi* CT transition, a pi(COO-) --> pi* CT transition, and a carboxylate pi --> pi* (NV1) transition, respectively By comparison of the intensity, bandwidth, and wavenumber position of band I of some of the investigated dipeptides, we found that positive charges on the N-terminal side chain (for X = K), and to a minor extent also the N-terminal proton, reduce its intensity. This can be understood in terms of attractive Coulomb interactions that stabilize the ground state over the charge transfer state. For alanylphenylalanine, we assigned band I to a n(COO-) --> pi* CT transition into the aromatic side chain, indicating that aromatic side chains interact electronically with the backbone. We also performed ECD measurements at different pH values (pH 1-6) for a selected subset of XA and AX peptides. By subtraction of the pH 1 spectrum from that observed at pH 6, the ECD spectrum of the CT transition was obtained. A titration curve of their spectra reveals a substantial dependence on the protonation state of the aspartic acid side chain of AD, which is absent in DA and AE. This most likely reflects a conformational transition of the C-terminus into a less extended state, though the involvement of a side chain --> peptide CT transition cannot be completely ruled out.  相似文献

A detailed understanding of the electronic structures of transition metal bis(dithiolene) centers is important in the context of their interesting redox, magnetic, and optical properties. The electronic structures of the series [M(mnt)2]n- (M = Fe - Zn; mnt = 1,2-S2C2(CN)2; n = 1, 2) were examined by a combination of photodetachment photoelectron spectroscopy and density functional theory calculations, providing insights into changes in electronic structure with variation of the metal center and with oxidation. Significant changes were observed for the dianions [M(mnt)2]2- due to stabilization of the metal 3d levels from Fe to Zn and the transition from square-planar to tetrahedral coordination about the metal center (Fe-Ni, D(2h) --> Cu D2 --> Zn, D(2d). Changes with oxidation from [M(mnt)2]2- to [M(mnt)2]1- were largely dependent on the nature of the redox-active orbital in the couple [M(mnt)2](2-/1-). In particular, the first detachment feature for [Fe(mnt)2]2- originated from a metal-based orbital (Fe(II) --> Fe(III)) while that for [Fe(mnt)2]1- originated from a ligand-based orbital, a consequence of stabilization of Fe 3d levels in the latter. In contrast, the first detachment feature for both of [Ni(mnt)2]2- and [Ni(mnt)2]1- originated from the same ligand-based orbital in both cases, a result of occupied Ni 3d levels being stabilized relative those of Fe 3d and occurring below the highest energy occupied ligand-based orbital for both of [Ni(mnt)2]2- and [Ni(mnt)2]1- . The combined data illustrate the subtle interplay between metal- and ligand-based redox chemistry in these species and demonstrate changes in their electronic structures with variation of metal center, oxidation, and coordination geometry.  相似文献

A Valence Bond Configuration Interaction (VBCI) model is used to relate the intraligand magnetic exchange interaction (J) to the electronic coupling matrix element (HAB) in Tp(Cum,MeZn)(SQNN), a compound that possesses a Donor-Acceptor (D-A) SemiQuinone-NitronylNitroxide (SQNN) biradical ligand. Within this framework, an SQ --> NN charge transfer state mixes with the ground state and stabilizes the spin triplet (S = 1). This charge-transfer transition is observed spectroscopically and probed using resonance Raman spectroscopy. In addition, the temperature-dependent electronic absorption spectrum of the Ni(II) complex, Tp(Cum,MeNi)(SQNN), has been studied. Exchange coupling between the S = 1 Ni(II) ion and S = 1 SQNN provides a mechanism for observing the formally spin-forbidden, ligand-based 3GC --> 1CTC transition. This provides a means of determining U, the mean GC --> CTC energy, and a one-center exchange integral, K(0). The experimental determination of J, U, and K(0) permits facile calculation of HAB, and we show that this methodology can be extended to determine the electronic coupling matrix element in related SQ-Bridge-NN molecules. As magnetic susceptibility measurements are easily acquired in the solid state, H(AB) may be effectively determined for single molecules in a known geometry, provided a crystal structure exists for the biradical complex. Thus, SQ-Bridge-NN molecules possess considerable potential for probing both geometric and electronic structure contributions to the magnitude of the electronic coupling matrix element associated with a given bridge fragment.  相似文献

Single crystals of U(4+)-doped Cs2GeF6 with 1% U4+ concentration have been obtained by the modified Bridgman-Stockbarger method in spite of the large difference in ionic radii between Ge4+ and U4+ in octahedral coordination. Their UV absorption spectrum has been recorded at 7 K, between 190 and 350 nm; it consists of a first broad and intense band peaking at about 38,000 cm(-1) followed by a number of broad bands of lower intensity from 39,000 to 45,000 cm(-1). None of the bands observed shows appreciable fine vibronic structure, so that the energies of experimental electronic origins cannot be deduced and the assignment of the experimental spectrum using empirical methods based on crystal field theory cannot be attempted. Alternatively, the profile of the absorption spectrum has been obtained theoretically using the U-F bond lengths and totally symmetric vibrational frequencies of the ground 5f2 - 1A(1g) and 5f16d(t(2g))1 - iT(1u) excited states, their energy differences, and their corresponding electric dipole transition moments calculated using the relativistic ab initio model potential embedded cluster method. The calculations suggest that the observed bands are associated with the lowest five 5f2 - 1A(1g)-->5f16d(t(2g))1 - iT(1u) (i = 1-5) dipole allowed electronic origins and their vibrational progressions. In particular, the first broad and intense band peaking at about 38,000 cm(-1) can be safely assigned to the 0-0 and 0-1 members of the a(1g) progression of the 5f2 - 1A(1g)-->5f16d(t(2g))1 - 1T(1u) electronic origin. The electronic structure of all the states with main configurational character 5f16d(t(2g))1 has been calculated as well. The results show that the lowest crystal level of this manifold is 5f16d(t(2g))1 - 1E(u) and lies about 6200 cm(-1) above the 5f2 level closest in energy, which amounts to some 11 vibrational quanta. This large energy gap could result in low nonradiative decay and efficient UV emission, which suggest the interest of investigating further this new material as a potential UV solid state laser.  相似文献

The vibrational structure of the UV absorption spectrum of acryloyl chloride vapor was analyzed to obtain detailed information about the torsional vibration levels of the trans and cis isomers in the ground (S 0) and excited (S 1) electronic states. The spectrum contained 114 absorption bands of which ~90% were assigned. The 0-0 transition frequencies of the trans and cis acryloyl chloride isomers were determined. Several Deslandres tables for torsional vibrations from the 0–0 transition frequencies and local origins corresponding to the fundamental frequencies of two isomeric molecule forms in both electronic states were constructed. The corresponding systems of torsional vibration levels were determined, and the harmonic frequencies θε and anharmonicity coefficients x 11 of the trans and cis isomers were calculated. The torsional vibration levels in the ground electronic state obtained from the vibrational structure of the UV spectrum are compared with those determined using the Fourier spectrum. The 0–3 torsional transition of the trans isomer was found to be displaced because of Fermi resonance with a fundamental frequency.  相似文献

We report CASPT2 calculations on the electronic excited states of several ureas. For monoureas, we find an electric dipole forbidden n --> pi* transition between 180 and 210 nm, dependent on the geometry and substituents of the urea. We find two intense pinb --> pi* transitions between 150 and 210 nm, which account for the absorptions seen in the experimental spectra. The n' --> pi* and pib --> pi* transitions are at wavelengths below 125 nm, which is below the lower limit of the experimental spectra. Parameter sets modeling the charge densities of the electronic transitions have been derived and permit calculations on larger oligoureas, using the exciton matrix method. For glycouril, a urea dimer, both the CASPT2 method and the matrix method yield similar results. Calculations of the electronic circular dichroism spectrum of an oligourea containing eight urea groups indicate that the experimental spectrum cannot be reproduced without the inclusion of electronic excitations involving the side chains. These calculations are one of the first attempts to understand the relationship between the structure and excited states of this class of macromolecule.  相似文献

By means of a technique of corona excited supersonic expansion coupled with a pinhole-type glass nozzle, we generated vibronically excited but jet-cooled benzyl-type radicals from precursor 2-chloro-4-fluorotoluene seeded in a large amount of inert carrier gas He. From an analysis of the visible vibronic emission spectrum, we found evidence of the formation of the 2-chloro-4-fluorobenzyl and 4-fluorobenzyl radicals. A possible pathway for the formation of these benzyl-type radicals is herein proposed. Also, the electronic energy in the D(1) → D(0) transition and the vibrational mode frequencies of the 2-chloro-4-fluorobenzyl radical in the ground electronic state were accurately determined, for the first time, by comparison with ab initio calculations and the known vibrational data of the precursor.  相似文献

The vibrational relaxation of the bending mode of HDO in liquid D2O has been studied using time-resolved mid-infrared pump-probe spectroscopy. At short delays, the transient spectrum clearly shows the v = 1 --> 2 induced absorption and v = 1 --> 0 bleaching and stimulated emission, whereas at long delays, the transient spectrum is dominated by the spectral changes caused by the temperature increase in the sample after vibrational relaxation. From the decay of the v = 1 --> 2 induced absorption, we obtain an estimate of 390 +/- 50 fs for the vibrational lifetime, in surprisingly good agreement with recent theoretical predictions. In the v = 0 --> 1 frequency region, the decay of the absorption change involves a second, slower component, which suggests that after vibrational relaxation the system is not yet in thermal equilibrium.  相似文献
