本文采用直接数值模拟的并行直接求解方法,计算了Ra=10~(10),0.05≤Pr≤20的系列Prandtl(Pr)数二维湍流热对流.通过流动显示技术,讨论了Pr数对羽流形态和大尺度环流结构的影响.在Ra=10~(10)时,随着Pr数减小,羽流的运动和分布表现出更强的湍流性质,较高Pr数的羽流则表现出较强的规律性,当Pr4.3时,流场中存在明显的大尺度环流和角涡结构.不同Pr数的温度边界层厚度差异不大,并随Pr数存在标度率变化关系.当Pr数较低时,系统的传热Nusselt(Nu)数随着Pr数增加而增加,当Pr数较高时,Nu数随Pr数的变化不敏感.靠近底板处速度脉动随Pr数有显著的变化,Pr数越低速度波动越剧烈.通过底板中心位置水平脉动速度和平均场水平速度最大值给出的雷诺数Re_((u))和Re_(U_(max)),两种Re数随Pr数的变化满足同一标度律,为Re~Pr~(-0.81).  相似文献

A complete theory of turbulent boundary layer flow over a flat plate with uniform wall suction is proposed. The theory relies on an asymptotic analysis of the Reynolds equations and dimensional considerations and does not involve any special closure hypotheses. Characteristics of the turbulent boundary layer with suction are calculated for the entire range of flow parameters by using the known characteristics of a reference flow (turbulent boundary layer over an impermeable flat plate). The velocity and shear stress profiles, the distribution of skin friction along the plate, and integral flow characteristics are obtained by using only the known velocity profile in the reference flow. The normal Reynolds stresses are calculated by using analogous characteristics of the reference flow. Results are presented in terms of scaling variables.  相似文献

We study the characteristics of temperature fluctuation in two-dimensional turbulent Rayleigh–Benard convection in′a square cavity by direct numerical simulations.The Rayleigh number range is 1×108≤Ra≤1×1013,and the Prandtl number is selected as Pr=0.7 and Pr=4.3.It is found that the temperature fluctuation profiles with respect to Ra exhibit two different distribution patterns.In the thermal boundary layer,the normalized fluctuationθrms/θrms,max is independent of Ra and a power law relation is identified,i.e.,θrms/θrms,max~(z/δ)0.99±0.01,where z/δis a dimensionless distance to the boundary(δis the thickness of thermal boundary layer).Out of the boundary layer,when Ra≤5×109,the profiles ofθrms/θrms,max descend,then ascend,and finally drop dramatically as z/δincreases.While for Ra≥1×1010,the profiles continuously decrease and finally overlap with each other.The two different characteristics of temperature fluctuations are closely related to the formation of stable large-scale circulations and corner rolls.Besides,there is a critical value of Ra indicating the transition,beyond which the fluctuation hθrmsiV has a power law dependence on Ra,given by hθrmsiV~Ra?0.14±0.01.  相似文献

Particle image velocimetry was applied to the study of the statistical properties and the coherent structures of a flat plate turbulent boundary layer at Mach 3. The nanoparticles with a good flow-following capability in supersonic flows were adopted as the tracer particles in the present experiments. 用大涡模拟方法对Mach数3.0下的压缩拐角激波/湍流边界层干扰问题进行数值研究.对拐角上游平板区域边界层转捩及湍流进行模拟,设定平板区域长度,使得转捩过程于平板区域发生并充分完成,从而在拐角处产生激波/湍流边界层相互干扰,研究激波/湍流边界层的作用机理.研究表明:流场能够在非定常扰动激励下迅速转捩,并于平板区发展为完全湍流;湍流边界层与激波相互作用过程中,拐角附近分离区较层流情况明显减小;展向不同区域分离区大小差异较大,局部区域分离现象消失.  相似文献

Simulation of a thick turbulent boundary layer via a rod grid   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A possibility to simulate a thick Clauser-equilibrium incompressible turbulent boundary layer on a flat plate of finite length with the help of a grid formed by cylindrical rods was experimentally examined. A grid with rods oriented parallel to the streamlined surface proved to be an efficient tool enabling modification of the turbulent boundary layer. In most cases, at a distance of 600 rod diameters the time-average and fluctuation characteristics of the modified boundary layer exhibited values typical of a natural turbulent boundary layer. It is shown that the mean velocity profiles with artificially increased boundary-layer thickness can be represented, to a good accuracy, in terms of law-of-the-wall variables, and they can be generalized with a single dependence using an empirical velocity scale in the outside region. The use of a combined method for exerting an influence on the shear flow capable of improving the modeling procedure for turbulent velocity fluctuations in boundary layer is proposed.  相似文献

The phenomenon of irregular cessation and subsequent reversal of the large-scale circulation in turbulent Rayleigh-Bénard convection is theoretically analyzed. The force and thermal balance on a single plume detached from the thermal boundary layer yields a set of coupled nonlinear equations, whose dynamics is related to the Lorenz equations. For Prandtl and Rayleigh numbers in the range 10(-2) < or = Pr < or = 10(3) and 10(7) < or = Ra < or = 10(12), the model has the following features: (i) chaotic reversals may be exhibited at Ra > or = 10(7); (ii) the Reynolds number based on the root mean square velocity scales as Re(rms) approximately Ra([0.41...0.47]) (depending on Pr), and as Re(rms) approximately Pr(-[0.66...0.76]) (depending on Ra); and (iii) the mean reversal frequency follows an effective scaling law omega/(nu L(-2)) approximately Pr(-(0.64 +/- 0.01))Ra(0.44 +/- 0.01). The phase diagram of the model is sketched, and the observed transitions are discussed.  相似文献

In this paper, hot-wire anemometry (HWA) is used to experimentally investigate interactions between a fully developed turbulent boundary layer and wake of an elliptic cylinder where axis ratio (AR) of the cylinder is 2. The elliptic cylinder was located inside and outside a turbulent boundary layer with a thickness (δ) of 0.38B. Furthermore, experiments were conducted at different Reynolds numbers (13,250 and 26,500) based upon the smallest cylinder diameter (B). Mean velocity, turbulence intensity and higher-order central moments of velocity signals (i.e. skewness and flatness) measurements were performed using HWA upon wake-boundary layer interactions on a flat plate. Results showed that profiles of stream-wise mean velocity and turbulence intensity were greatly dependent on gap ratio (G/B) and Reynolds number (Re) in near-wake region. It was also observed that, except for G/B = 0.1, the wake-boundary layer interactions were faster at Reynolds number of 26,500 rather than 13,250. The interactions occurred earlier upon fluctuating the velocity rather than the case where a fixed mean velocity was considered. The results further show that an increase in the gap ratio increases Strouhal number almost independent of δ/B. Behind the cylinder, relatively smaller wake region was obtained at Re = 26,500 rather than Re = 13,250, where the velocity profiles quickly converged to the flat plate boundary layer velocity profiles.  相似文献

The possibility of decreasing the turbulent friction with the use of streamwise-aligned vertical large eddy breakup devices installed normal to the surface of a flat plate in an incompressible equilibrium turbulent boundary layer with a nominally gradientless flow past this plate is studied experimentally. The Reynolds number based on the boundary-layer momentum thickness is 1099 in the cross section where these vertical devices are mounted. It is shown that elements of this geometry are effective tools for modification of the turbulent boundary layer from the viewpoint of both the gain in friction drag and the suppression of turbulent fluctuations of velocity and, hence, can be considered as one of the most important factors of controlling the structure of the near-wall turbulence in the flow past a flat surface.  相似文献

An analysis is presented describing the characteristics of mean velocity profile in the axisymmetric turbulent inner near-wake flow behind a body of revolution. The near wake is developing under zero streamwise pressure gradient and the upstream turbulent boundary layer is fully developed. It is shown that the boundary layer condition that exists at the trailing edge can be used to describe the mean velocity profiles in the inner near wake. It is shown that the logarithmic layer of the upstream turbulent boundary layer continues to be valid for some more distance in the near wake, and as the streamwise distance is increased, the logarithmic layer is slowly getting destroyed. It is also shown that the central line velocity exhibits a logarithmic behaviour for large streamwise distance. Results of the analysis have been validated using available experimental data.  相似文献

This study investigates the changes in the structure of a turbulent boundary layer downstream of a flow-excited Helmholtz resonator. To this end, a fully developed turbulent boundary layer over a resonator mounted flush with a flat plate was simulated by implementing a large eddy simulation (LES). To assist in understanding the effect of the resonator on the flow structure, a sensitivity study was undertaken by changing the main geometrical parameters of the resonator. The results demonstrated that when the boundary layer thickness equals the orifice length, the cross-stream component of velocity fluctuations penetrates the boundary layer, resulting in a reduction of the turbulence intensity by up to 12%. Therefore, it is concluded that a Helmholtz resonator has the potential to reduce the instabilities within the boundary layer. These investigations also assist in identifying the optimal parameters to delay turbulence events within the grazing flow using Helmholtz resonators.  相似文献

The large-scale circulation, often called "wind," in the confined thermal turbulence of mercury is studied experimentally. The instantaneous velocity profile at 128 points is directly measured using ultrasonic velocimetry. The periodic velocity oscillation is observed in the case of the aspect-ratio Gamma = 1,2 but not in Gamma = 0.5. Its peak frequency is scaled by f(c) proportional Ra(gamma(c)), where Ra is the Rayleigh number and gamma(c) = 0.43,0.45 for Gamma = 1,2. f(c) is close to the wind circulation frequency f(p), and has the same order of transit time from the bottom to the top of the convection cell. A single roll circulation is expected in Gamma = 1; however, axisymmetric toroidal rings may exist near the upper and lower plate for Gamma = 0.5, which are stable up to Ra = 7 x 10 (10).  相似文献

We report temperature cross correlation and velocity profile measurements in the aspect-ratio-one convection cell filled with water. A sharp transition from a random chaotic state to a correlated turbulent state of finite coherence time is found when the Rayleigh number becomes larger than a critical value Ra(c) approximately equal to 5 x 10(7). The experiment reveals a unique mechanism for the onset of coherent oscillations in turbulent Rayleigh-Bénard convection.  相似文献

为了探究熵层对扫掠激波/湍流边界层干扰特性的影响规律,采用仿真方法对尖鳍/钝板物理模型进行研究。结果表明:扫掠激波上游的熵层厚度随着平板前缘钝化半径的增大而增加,同时边界层厚度也随着熵层厚度的增加而增加。熵层的引入并不改变扫掠激波/湍流边界层干扰固有的准锥形相似特性,也不会改变拟锥原点(virtual conical origin, VCO)的位置,仅会改变干扰形成的上游影响线和分离线的角度。扫掠激波/湍流边界层干扰形成的锥形主旋涡和角涡的尺度随着熵层厚度的增加而增大。上游熵层的引入增大了下游扫掠激波/湍流边界层干扰区的总压损失,但扫掠激波/湍流边界层干扰自身造成的相对总压损失并不受上游熵层的影响。  相似文献

The article presents results of an experimental study of the effect of gravitational orientation of the flow along its lower/upper solid boundaries on reduction of turbulent drag and void fraction profiles with injection of gas through a porous channel wall. The shear stress on the wall was measured in the Reynolds number range Rex = (0.23–1.1) × 107 by floating element transducers; the void fraction profile was determined using a fiber-optic sensor. The void fraction in the inner (near-wall) region of the boundary layer was shown to be a key parameter for turbulent drag reduction. The size of the inner region depends on the gas flow rate, the fluid velocity, the distance downstream of the gas generator, and the gravitational orientation of the wall.  相似文献

Nonstationary radiative-convective heat transfer was simulated at turbulent streamlining of a semitransparent film of melt on a flat plate by the gas mixture and solid particles. The moving film is subjected to intensive radiation heating by an external source radiating within a limited spectral range. The temperature and velocity fields are calculated in the boundary layer and in the film. Calculation results allow determination of the effect of source temperature and film initial heating on dynamics of temperature and velocity fields of the medium in the boundary layer-film system.  相似文献

In this Letter we report experimental evidence that rotation enhances vertical inhomogeneity in turbulent convection, in spite of the increased columnar flow ordering under rotation. Measurements using stereoscopic particle image velocimetry have been carried out on turbulent rotating convection in water. At constant Rayleigh number Ra=1.11 x 10(9) several rotation rates have been used, so that the Rossby number takes values from Ro=infinity (no rotation) to 0.09 (strong rotation). The three-component velocity data, obtained at two vertical positions, are used to investigate the anisotropy of the flow through the invariants of the Reynolds-stress anisotropy tensor and the Lumley triangle, as well as to correlate the vertical velocity and vorticity. In the center plane rotation causes the turbulence to be "rodlike," while closer to the top plate a trend toward isotropy is observed.  相似文献

Direct numerical simulation of the turbulent boundary layer over a sharp cone with 20° cone angle (or 10° half-cone angle) is performed by using the mixed seventh-order up-wind biased finite difference scheme and sixth-order central difference scheme. The free stream Mach number is 0.7 and free stream unit Reynolds number is 250000/inch. The characteristics of transition and turbulence of the sharp cone boundary layer are compared with those of the flat plate boundary layer. Statistics of fully developed turbulent flow agree well with the experimental and theoretical data for the turbulent flat-plate boundary layer flow. The near wall streak-like structure is shown and the average space between streaks (normalized by the local wall unit) keeps approximately invariable at different streamwise locations. The turbulent energy equation in the cylindrical coordinate is given and turbulent energy budget is studied. The computed results show that the effect of circumferential curvature on turbulence characteristics is not obvious.  相似文献

A sinusoidal temperature perturbation is superimposed on the bottom plate of a cylindrical convection cell, and its decay is measured at the cell midheight. Rayleigh numbers up to Ra=10(13) and aspect ratios 1 and 4 are considered. The technique allows a dynamic measurement of the height of the layer interposed between the superconducting core and the boundary. This deduced height is in good agreement with results from recent numerical simulations.  相似文献
