Electric field E r transverse to the current in a moving quasi-neutral plasma can (and should) be considered using Poisson equations and densities of volume charges emerging in the plasma. In the general case, E r becomes nonlocal; i.e., remote volume charge densities are not screened but affect the formation of E r at the points under investigation. This approach is used for describing a phenomenological theory of radial electric field E r (r) and velocity of toroidal rotation of the plasma in the tokamak. Examples of application of this theory to actual experiments are considered.  相似文献

In this paper, ignition curve for deuterium /helium-3 fusion reaction is studied. Four fusion reactions are considered. Zero-dimensional model for the power balance equation has been used. The closed ignition curves for ρ=constant (ratio of particle to energy confinement time) have been derived. The results of our calculations show that ignited equilibria for deuterium /helium-3 fuel in a spherical tokamak is only possible for ρ= 5.5 and 6. Then, by using the energy confinement scaling and parameters of the spherical tokamak reactor, the plasma stability limits have been obtained in ne, T plane and, to determine the thermal instability of plasma, the time-dependent transport equations have been solved.  相似文献

Radial electric fields (E r) and their role in the establishment of edge transport barriers and improved confinement have been studied in the tokamaks TEXTOR-94 and CASTOR, where E r is externally applied to the plasma in a controlled way using a biased electrode, as well as in the tokamak T-10 where an edge transport barrier (H-mode) is obtained during electron-cyclotron resonance heating (ECRH) of the plasma.The physics of radial currents was studied and the radial conductivity in the edge of TEXTOR-94 (R = 1.75 m, a = 0.46 m) was found to be dominated by recycling (ion-neutral collisions) at the last closed flux surface (LCFS) and by parallel viscosity inside the LCFS. From a performance point of view (edge engineering), such electrode biasing was shown to induce a particle transport barrier, a reduction of particle transport, and a concomitant increase in energy confinement. An H-mode-like behaviour can be induced both with positive and negative electric fields. Positive as well as negative electric fields were shown to strongly affect the exhaust of hydrogen, helium, and impurities, not only in the H-mode-like regime.The impact of sheared radial electric fields on turbulent structures and flows at the plasma edge is investigated on the CASTOR tokamak (R = 0.4 m, a = 0.085 m). A non-intrusive biasing scheme that we call "separatrix biasing" is applied whereby the electrode is located in the scrape-off layer (SOL) with its tip just touching the LCFS. There is evidence of strongly sheared radial electric field and E×B flow, resulting in the formation of a transport barrier at the separatrix. Advanced probe diagnosis of the edge region has shown that the E×B shear rate that arises during separatrix biasing is larger than for standard edge plasma biasing. The plasma flows, especially the poloidal E×B drift velocity, are strongly modified in the sheared region, reaching Mach numbers as high as half the sound speed. The corresponding shear rates ( 5×106 s-1) derived from both the flow and electric field profiles are in excellent agreement and are at least an order of magnitude higher than the growth rate of unstable turbulent modes as estimated from fluctuation measurements.During ECRH in the tokamak T-10 (R = 1.5 m, a = 0.3 m), a regime of improved confinement is obtained with features resembling those in the H-mode in other tokamaks. Using a heavy ion beam probe, a narrow potential well is observed near the limiter together with the typical features of the L-H transition. The time evolution of the plasma profiles during L-H and H-L transitions is clearly correlated with that of the density profile and the formation of a transport barrier near the limiter. The edge electric field is initially positive after the onset of ECRH. It changes its sign during the L-H transition and grows till a steady condition is reached. Similar to the biasing experiments in TEXTOR-94 and CASTOR, the experimentally observed transport barrier is a barrier for particles.  相似文献

Radiation-stimulated and postradiation changes in the microhardness of silicon single crystals exposed to irradiation with a low-intensity flux of β particles (I = 9 × 105 cm?2 s?1, W = 0.20 + 0.93 MeV) are studied. It is established that the inversion of the radiation-induced plastic effect occurs at a characteristic irradiation time τc = 75 min; i.e., irradiation of silicon single crystals for a time τ < τc leads to nonmonotonic reversible hardening, whereas nonmonotonic reversible softening is observed under irradiation for a time τ > τc. It is demonstrated that there exists a correlation between the nonmonotonic dependences of the microhardness and the concentration of electrically active defects at acceptor levels with energies E c ? 0.11 eV, E c ? 0.13 eV, and E c ? 0.18 eV on the irradiation time.  相似文献

Confinement quality as good as ELM-free H-mode at densities substantially above the Greenwald density limit ( &nmacr;(e,0)/n(GW) = 1.4) has been obtained in discharges with a radiative boundary under quasistationary conditions for 20 times the energy confinement time. This is achieved by optimizing the gas-fueling rate of RI-mode discharges which tailors their favorable energy confinement and leads to discharges with beta values just below the operational limit beta(n) = 2 of TEXTOR-94, thereby effectively avoiding confinement back transitions or disruptions. In addition, this high-density regime is favorable for helium removal and results in figures of merit tau(*)(p,He)/tau(E) approximately 10-15, relevant for a future fusion power reactor.  相似文献

The Fourier analysis is a satisfactory technique for detecting plasma confinement modes in tokamaks. The confinement mode of tokamak plasma was analysed using the fast Fourier transformation (FFT). For this purpose, we used the data of Mirnov coils that is one of the identifying tools in the IR-T1 tokamak, with and without external field (electric biasing), and then compared it with each other. After the Fourier analysis of Mirnov coil data, the diagram of power spectrum density was depicted in different angles of Mirnov coils in the ‘presence of external field’ as well as in the ‘absence of external field’. The power spectrum density (PSD) interprets the manner of power distribution of a signal with frequency. In this article, the number of plasma modes and the safety factor q were obtained by using the mode number of q = m /n (m is the mode number). The maximum MHD activity was obtained in 30–35 kHz frequency, using the density of the energy spectrum. In addition, the number of different modes across 0–35 ms time was compared with each other in the presence and absence of the external field.  相似文献

Electrode biasing is a standard tool for modification of both edge and global plasma parameters on the CASTOR tokamak (R=0.4 m,a=85 mm,B T=1.3 T,I p1≈9 kA,q a≈10). During a steady state phase of a discharge, a polarization voltage is applied on an electrode immersed into the edge plasma. This voltage causes radial currents that create radial electric field and, due to theE×B drift, they cause an enhanced rotation. Then, as a consequence, the interaction with walls decreases and particle confinement and density increase. Recently, the decay of plasma density and plasma flows after the termination of the biasing period was investigated on the CASTOR tokamak. These observations are linked to processes and mechanisms that control generation of radial electric fields in plasmas and damping ofE×B sheared flows and that therefore represent a key issue for understanding the transition to improved confinements modes. In the contribution, measured time scales of the transition to the ohmic regime after the biasing termination will be shown. Further, possible consequences of these measured scales for the valuation and explanation of important processes in the plasma will be discussed.  相似文献

The theory ofKraichnan is applied to quasi-stationary isotropic hydromagnetic turbulence. The average infinitesimal-impulse-response functionsg(k, τ), g m (k, τ) and the time-correlationsr(k, τ), r m (k, τ) are evaluated by the non-local direct-interaction approximation within the inertial range. The average optical reflectivity of bismuth as a function of time t after irradiation by a short laser pulse has been calculated. The amplitude A of photoinduced oscillations in the average optical reflectivity is shown to have extrema under certain conditions. The time τj (j is a natural number) at which the amplitude A reaches the jth extremum has been calculated. The calculated dependences of the times τ1 and τ2 at which, respectively, the first and second extrema (the first minimum and the first maximum) of the amplitude A are reached on the maximum laser pulse energy density Q are consistent with the experimental data from [8].  相似文献

Particle collection by the ALT-II belt limiter in the TEXTOR-94 tokamak is exclusively limited to the parallel outflux because the scoop walls that are oriented parallel to the field lines obstruct the poloidal E×B mass flow. With normal B tor direction (E×B towards the scoops), a threefold decrease of plenum pressure is measured during negative biasing, while with reversed B tor (E×B away from the scoops), a 60% pressure increase is observed. This behaviour is exactly opposite to that observed in X-point divertors. A simple fluid model explains this apparent contradiction, and gives good quantitative agreement with measurements of the parallel Mach number in the SOL. The essential physics is governed by the Bohm-Chodura criterion.  相似文献

Plasma equilibria are investigated numerically, using the ACCOME and ASTRA codes, on the COMPASS-D tokamak (R 0 = 0:56 m, a = 0:17 m, B T = 1:2 T, I p = 200 kA, k = 1:7, δx = 0:4) for the planned Neutral Beam Injection (NBI) and Low Hybrid Current Drive (LHCD) systems. The LH system provides P LH = 0:4 MW at n = 2:1 and f LH = 1:3 GHz. The NBI system has two 40 keV deuterium beams in co-or counter-directions with a total power of 0.6 MW. The COMPASS-D tokamak can typically operate in two configurations-single null divertor (SND) and single null divertor with a higher triangularity (SNT). Higher triangularity provides access to higher confinement and improved stability, and leads to larger n up-shifts for better slow LH wave absorption.We investigate the range of densities n = 2 ÷ 6 × 1019 m?3. Both the LH and NB driven currents decrease with density. The magnetic shear reverses with off-axis beam incidence. In the given plasma parameter range, typically up to 60 kA of bootstrap current is driven and with NB co-injection up to 80 kA of NB current is driven. LHCD is weak at f = 1:3 GHz and BT = 1:2 T, but at n = 3 × 1019 m?3 the LH driven current is about 40 kA, so that the required plasma current of 200 kA is supported almost non-inductively.  相似文献

The electron and spin structure of thick smooth hydrocarbon CD x films (“flakes”) with a high relative deuterium concentration of x ~ 0.5, redeposited from deuterium plasma discharge onto the walls of the vacuum chamber of the T-10 tokamak and containing ~1 at % of 3d-metal impurities due to erosion of the chamber walls, are studied using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and photoluminescence (PL). The resulting spectra are compared for the first time to the EPR and photoluminescence spectra of polymer (soft) a-C:H(D) films (H(D)/C ~ 0.5), which are considered model analogues of smooth CD x films. A certain similarity of the CD x films with a-C:H films was found in the electronic structure of the valence band. At the same time, the differences in the EPR and photoluminescence spectra were observed due to the presence of 3d-metal impurities in the CD x samples, contributing to the conversion of sp 3sp 2 in the formation of films in the tokamak and upon heating and thermal desorption. An impurity of, presumably, 3d metals was detected for the first time by EPR in the a-C:H films in an amount of approximately 0.2 ppm, related to the evaporation of graphite.  相似文献

Lattice vibrations of the wurtzite-type AIN have been studied by Raman spectroscopy under high-pressure up to the phase transition to the rock salt structure at 20 GPa. Five fundamental bands E 2 2 , A1(TO), E1(TO), A1(LO), and E1(LO) have a strong, positive pressure shift, whereas the shift of the low-frequency E 2 1 band is weakly positive. We have found that the bond-bending mode has a positive mode Grüneisen parameter γi = 0.04, which is qualitatively consistent with the recently reported value γi = 0.12 [21]. Thus, we confirm that AIN remains stable with respect to the bond-bending mode, while in most tetrahedral semiconductors, bond-bending modes soften on compression. Experimental results are compared with the first-principle calculations.  相似文献

Nd3+:Na0.4Y0.6F2.2 (Nd3+:NYF) crystals are grown by the Stockbarger–Bridgman method for a stoichiometric mixture prepared by the solid-phase method and containing neodymium up to 20 at. %. The absorption spectrum of Nd3+:NYF crystals exhibits bands located in the emission region of laser diodes. The peak absorption cross section of the 796.8-nm band is σ a = 0.96 × 10–20 cm2 and the bandwidth is Δλ = 17.5 nm. The most intense luminescence band is located at 1.05 μ m and the radiative time of the 4F3/2 level is τ0 = τexp ~ 960 μ s. It is shown that the 2P3/2 and 4D3/2 levels of Nd3+:NYF crystals are also radiative with lifetimes τ exp equal to ~110 and 9.5 μ s, respectively. However, these radiative transitions are partially quenched due to nonradiative relaxation. The intensity parameters Ω t are determined by the Judd–Ofelt method to be Ω2 = 1.18 × 10–20, Ω4 = 1.55 × 10–20, and Ω 6 = 2.85 × 10–20 cm 2. Using these parameters, the probabilities of radiative transitions and branching ratios are calculated, and the probabilities of nonradiative transitions are estimated. A conclusion is made that Nd3+:NYF crystals are promising as active media for diode-pumped tunable lasers, in particular, up-conversion-pumped lasers.  相似文献

A precise investigation of radiative pion decay (π+e+νγ) in a pion beam from the meson factory of the Paul Scherrer Institute (Switzerland) was performed by the PIBETA Collaboration with the aid of the PIBETA detector. This resulted in finding 41 601 events of radiative pion decay in three kinematical regions. The absolute values of the branching ratio for radiative pion decay were determined in each of these regions. To a precision approximately four times higher than that known previously, the ratio of the axial-vector to the vector form factor was found to be γF A /F V = 0.443 (15), the latter being fixed at F V = 0.0259. The number of events found in the kinematical region specified by photon energies of Eγ > 55.6 MeV, positron energies of E e > 20.0 MeV, and angles of θγ, e > 40° between the momenta of the corresponding particles (B region) was 5233. In region B, the measured branching ratio for radiative pion decay, Rπ→evγ(expt) = 11.6(3) × 10?8, proved to be smaller by eight standard deviations than that which follows from the Standard Model, Rπ→evγ (theor) = 14.34(1) × 10?8.  相似文献

The paper reports on a study of exciton luminescence in single crystals (SCs) and single-crystal films (SCFs) of YAlO3, which have substantially different concentrations of vacancy-type and substitutional defects, under excitation by synchrotron radiation near the fundamental absorption edge. The radiative annihilation of excitons in SCFs was shown to occur primarily at regular perovskite lattice sites and to be accompanied by luminescence in a band peaking at λmax = 295 nm with τ = 5.2 ns. In contrast to SCFs, the radiative exciton decay in YAlO3 SCs takes place predominantly near vacancy-type defects (F+ and F centers) and is accompanied by luminescence in the bands at λmax = 350 nm (τ = 2.5 ns) and 440 nm (τ1 = 1.9 ns, τ2 = 30 ms). Photoexcitation in the 175-nm band of YAlO3 SCs revealed photoconversion of the centers FF+.  相似文献

We have studied spin-resolved correlations in the warm-dense homogeneous electron gas by determining the linear density and spin-density response functions, within the dynamical self-consistent mean-field theory of Singwi et al. The calculated spin-resolved pair-correlation function g σ σ(r) is compared with the recent restricted path-integral Monte Carlo (RPIMC) simulations due to Brown et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 110, 146405 (2013)], while interaction energy E int and exchange-correlation free energy F xc with the RPIMC and very recent ab initio quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) simulations by Dornheim et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 117, 156403 (2016)]. g ↑↓(r) is found to be in good agreement with the RPIMC data, while a mismatch is seen in g ↑↑(r) at small r where it becomes somewhat negative. As an interesting result, it is deduced that a non-monotonic T-dependence of g(0) is driven primarily by g ↑↓(0). Our results of E int and F xc exhibit an excellent agreement with the QMC study due to Dornheim et al., which deals with the finite-size correction quite accurately. We observe, however, a visible deviation of E int from the RPIMC data for high densities (~8% at r s = 1). Further, we have extended our study to the fully spin-polarized phase. Again, with the exception of high density region, we find a good agreement of E int with the RPIMC data. This points to the need of settling the problem of finite-size correction in the spin-polarized phase also. Interestingly, we also find that the thermal effects tend to oppose spatial localization as well as spin polarization of electrons.  相似文献

Measurements of synchrotron radiation emitted by 30-MeV runaway electrons in the TEXTOR-94 tokamak show that the runaway population decays after switching on neutral beam injection (NBI). The decay starts only with a significant delay, which decreases with increasing NBI heating power. This delay provides direct evidence of the energy dependence of runaway confinement, which is expected if magnetic modes govern the loss of runaways. Application of the theory by Mynick and Strachan [Phys. Fluids 24, 695 (1981)] yields estimates for the "mode width" (delta) of magnetic perturbations: delta<0.5 cm in Ohmic discharges, increasing to delta = 4.4 cm for 0. 6 MW NBI.  相似文献
