We study the Dyson rank function N(r, 3; n), the number of partitions of n with rank \(\equiv r \pmod 3\). We investigate the convexity of these functions. In this paper, we study the continued fraction y(s,r) which satisfies the equation y(s,r)y(s+2r,r)=(s+1)(s+2r?1) for $r > \frac{1}{2}$ . This continued fraction is a generalization of the Brouncker’s continued fraction b(s). We extend the formulas for the first and the second logarithmic derivatives of b(s) to the case of y(s,r). The asymptotic series for y(s,r) at ∞ are also studied. The generalizations of some Ramanujan’s formulas are presented. 相似文献

This paper introduces the double travelling salesman problem with multiple stacks and presents four different metaheuristic approaches to its solution. The double TSP with multiple stacks is concerned with determining the shortest route performing pickups and deliveries in two separated networks (one for pickups and one for deliveries) using only one container. Repacking is not allowed, instead each item can be positioned in one of several rows in the container, such that each row can be considered a LIFO (last in, first out) stack, but no mutual constraints exist between the rows. Two different neighbourhood structures are developed for the problem and used with each of three local search metaheuristics. Additionally some simpler removal and reinsertion operators are used in a Large neighbourhood search framework. Finally some computational results are given along with lower bounds on the objective value. 相似文献

In this paper, we provide several extensions of the Abian–Brown Fixed Point Theorem from single-valued mappings to set-valued mappings on chain-complete posets. Then we examine some non-monetized, non-cooperative games where both the collections of the strategies and the ranges of the utilities for the players are posets. By applying the extensions of the Abian–Brown Fixed Point Theorem and by applying the order-preserving property of mappings, we prove some existence theorems of extended and generalized Nash equilibria for non-monetized, non-cooperative games on chain-complete posets. 相似文献

This study presents some quantitative evidence from a number of simulation experiments on the accuracy of the productivity growth estimates derived from growth accounting (GA) and frontier-based methods (namely data envelopment analysis-, corrected ordinary least squares-, and stochastic frontier analysis-based malmquist indices) under various conditions. These include the presence of technical inefficiency, measurement error, misspecification of the production function (for the GA and parametric approaches) and increased input and price volatility from one period to the next. The study finds that the frontier-based methods usually outperform GA, but the overall performance varies by experiment. Parametric approaches generally perform best when there is no functional form misspecification, but their accuracy greatly diminishes otherwise. The results also show that the deterministic approaches perform adequately even under conditions of (modest) measurement error and when measurement error becomes larger, the accuracy of all approaches (including stochastic approaches) deteriorates rapidly, to the point that their estimates could be considered unreliable for policy purposes. 相似文献

The article presents theoretical and experimental investigations of computational intelligence techniques for machine sequencing problems. Contrary to other approaches, which are experimentally driven only, our work is motivated by gaining insights in the underlying principles of heuristic search for this particular problem. We therefore first theoretically analyze local search neighborhoods, deriving expectations about their relative performance. Undergraduate mathematics is traditionally designed and taught by content experts with little contribution from students. Indeed, there are signs that there is resistance from mathematics lecturers to involve students in the creation of material to support their peers – notwithstanding the fact that students have been successfully engaged as co-creators of material in other disciplines. There appears to be little research into what issues may lead to reservations to using student-created content in mathematics learning. This paper takes a case study approach to investigate the reasons for lecturers’ resistance to undergraduate student contributions to learning material, in particular with a view to the production of screencasts of mathematical explanations. It also investigates the views of students producing mathematical screencasts. This study is part of a larger research project investigating undergraduate involvement in mathematics module design. Four second-year students, who were producing mathematics screencasts as part of an internship, and five academics, were interviewed to gain an understanding of their views of the value of student screencasts. The interviews focused on the particular contributions students make to screencasts, outcomes for the students and level of lecturer acceptance of these resources. We argue that students benefit from creating screencasts for their peers by gaining deeper mathematical understanding, improved technological skills and developing other generic skills required of today's graduates. In contrast, we confirm lecturer resistance to using student-generated screencasts in their teaching materials. Lecturer reservations pertain to students’ lack of mathematical maturity and concerns over the mathematical integrity of the content that students produce. We conclude that close collaboration between students and lecturers during the design and production phases of screencasts may help lecturers overcome reservations, whilst preserving the benefits for students. In addition, we provide evidence that the process is a valuable professional development opportunity for the lecturers themselves. 相似文献
