We present in this paper a new method for solving the optimization problem of a variable head multireservoir power system under a critical water condition for long-term regulation. The problem is formulated as a minimum norm problem. The proposed method is efficient in computing time and in calculating the expected benefits from the system during the critical period. Numerical results are presented for a real system in operation consisting of two rivers; each river has two reservoirs connected in a series.This work was supported by the National Research Council of Canada, Grant No. A4146. We present in this paper an efficient approach for solving the problem of planning the long-term (multiyear) operation of a multireservoir hydroelectric power system for the critical period with a monthly variable load. This load is equal to a certain percentage of the total generation at the end of the year, subject to satisfying a number of constraints on the hydrosystem, using the minimum norm formulation.The proposed method is efficient in computing time and in calculating the total expected benefits from the system during the critical period. Numerical results are reported for a real system in operation consisting of two rivers. This is a study of the evolution of finite amplitude wave packets at the contact surface between a semi-infinite liquid medium and a liquid located above it near a solid lid. The limiting case of near-critical wave numbers for propagation of wave packets in the liquid system is discussed. Perturbation expansions are obtained for the deviation of the contact surface from its unperturbed position and for wave numbers near the critical value. This is compared with the solution for the analogous limiting cases of one or two semi-infinite liquids. A version in which the wave numbers are far from critical is examined.  相似文献

This paper assesses dam releases from hydropower reservoirs in order to optimize power production and fish habitat protection. A multi-objective programming model includes output from 2-D hydraulic simulation for habitat assessment to optimize power production and fish habitat suitability as a Pareto set. To identify the optimal Pareto set two different approaches are used and compared: ε-constraint methods and non-dominant-sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA II). To formulate the ecological objective the river habitat quality is quantified by the weighted usable area (WUA). The relation between the WUA and the river flow-rate is obtained by using a 2D hydraulic model in which the hydraulic characteristics of river current – depth and velocity – are calculated by a finite difference numerical integration of two-dimensional shallow water equations on a boundary fitted non orthogonal curvilinear mesh. This approach allows the integration of motion equations on geometrically complex domains as those representing the morphology of natural watercourses. The performance of the proposed methodology is analyzed in a case study of a stretch of the Piave river downstream of the dam of the Pieve di Cadore reservoir (Belluno, Italy).  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to present a new algorithm to maximize the value of the energy produced from a multireservoir power system, plus the estimated value of water remaining in storage at the end of the 12-month planning period. The systems described here are characterized by having a specified monthly generation, and this generation is equal to a certain percentage of the total generation at the end of the year.The problem is formulated as a minimum norm problem in the framework of analytic optimization. Numerical results are reported for a real system in operation consisting of three rivers; each river has two series reservoirs. Long-term optimal operation of a multireservoir system is complex because it is a dynamic problem (present decisions for one reservoir depend on future decisions for all reservoirs); the optimal operating policy for one reservoir depends not only on its own energy content, but also on the corresponding content of each one of the other reservoirs; it is a highly stochastic problem with respect to the reservoir inflows and it is a nonlinear problem. This paper presents a new method for determining the optimal monthly operating policy of a power system consisting of multireservoirs on a multiriver system taking into account the stochasticity of the river flows. Functional optimization techniques and minimum norm formulation have been used. Results for a numerical example composed of three rivers with four reservoirs, three reservoirs, and two reservoirs on each river, respectively, are presented.This work was supported by the National Research Council of Canada, Grant. We present in this paper a new approach to finding the monthly optimal operation of a multireservoir power system connected in series on a river. The hydroelectric power generation is a highly nonlinear function of the storage, and the conversion factor assigned to each power plant is also a nonlinear function of the storage. We use for both a quadratic function of the storage; the resulting problem has a highly nonlinear objective function and linear constraints. We propose a transformation such that the system equations are reduced to linear-quadratic form. Lagrange and Kuhn-Tucker multipliers are used to adjoin the equality and inequality constraints to the objective function. Numerical results are presented for a real system in operation consisting of two reservoirs in series on a river for widely different water conditions.This work was supported by the National Research Council of Canada, Grant No. A4146. Optimal impulsive control of systems arising from linear compartment models for drug distribution in the human body is considered. A system of linear, time-invariant, homogeneous differential equations is given along with a set of continuous constraints on state and control. The object is to develop a constructive algorithm for the computation of the optimal control relative to a convex cost functional. It is first shown that under suitable hypotheses, satisfying the continuous constraints is equivalent to satisfying the constraints at a finite set of abstractly definedcritical points. Once these critical points have been determined, the solution of the optimal control problem is found as the solution of a finite-dimensional convex programming problem. The set of critical points can often be determineda priori solely from the qualitative behavior of the solutions of the system. A class of such problems, generalizing the so-calledplateau effect, is considered in detail. It is shown that the solution achieving the plateau effect is indeed optimal in certain cases. A method is proposed for solving optimization problems with continuous variables and a function taking a large finite set of values. Problems of this type arise in the multicriteria construction of a control rule for a discrete-time dynamical system whose performance criteria coincide with the number of violations of requirements imposed on the system. The rule depends on a finite set of parameters whose set of admissible values defines a collection of admissible control rules. An example is the problem of choosing a control rule for a cascade of reservoirs. The optimization method is based on solving a modified problem in which the original function is replaced by a continuous ersatz function. A theorem on the relation between the average-minimal values of the original and ersatz functions is proved. Optimization problems are solved with power-law ersatz functions, and the influence exerted by the exponent on the quality of the solution is determined. It is experimentally shown that the solutions produced by the method are of fairly high quality.  相似文献

In this paper, Markov models of repairable systems with repair time omission are considered whose finite state space is grouped into two sets, the set of working states, W, and the set of failed states, F. If the system enters failed states from a working state at any instance, and sojourns at the failed states F less than a given nonnegative critical value τ, then the repair interval can be omitted from downtime records. Otherwise, If the system enters failed states from a working state at any instance, and sojourns at the failed states F more than the given nonnegative critical value τ, then the repair interval cannot be omitted from downtime records. In terms of the assumption, a new model is developed. The focus of attention is the new model’s availability, interval reliability and interval unreliability. Several results are derived for these reliability indexes for the new model. Some special cases and numerical examples are given to illustrate the results obtained by using Maple software in the paper.  相似文献

This paper proposes a multi-objective approach to model a replacement policy problem applicable to equipment with a predetermined period of use (a planning horizon), which may undergo critical and non-critical failures. Corrective replacements and imperfect repairs are taken to restore the system to operation respectively when critical and non-critical failures occur. Generalized Renewal Process (GRP) is used to model imperfect repairs. The proposed model supports decisions on preventive replacement intervals and the number of spare parts purchased at the beginning of the planning horizon. A Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA) coupled with discrete event simulation (DES) is proposed to provide a set of solutions (Pareto-optimum set) committed to the different objectives of a maintenance manager in the face of a replacement policy problem, that is, maintenance cost, rate of occurrence of failures, unavailability, and investment on spare parts. The proposed MOGA is validated by an application example against the results obtained via the exhaustive approach. Moreover, examples are presented to evaluate the behavior of objective functions on Pareto set (trade-off analysis) and the impact of the repair effectiveness on the decision making.  相似文献

This paper studies two widely used stochastic non-autonomous logistic models. For the first system, sufficient conditions for extinction, non-persistence in the mean, weak persistence and stochastic permanence are established. The critical number between weak persistence and extinction is obtained. For the second system, sufficient criteria for extinction, non-persistence in the mean, weak persistence in the mean, strong persistence in the mean and stochastic permanence are established. The critical number between weak persistence in the mean and extinction is obtained. It should be pointed out that this research is systematical and complete. In fact, the behaviors of the two models in every coefficient cases are cleared up by the results obtained in this paper.  相似文献

An argument based on topological degree is used to obtain an existence theorem for orbits connecting two critical points of an autonomous system. The result is applied to the existence of viscous profiles approximating shock waves in weak solutions of systems of nonlinear conservation laws. In this paper, functional analysis and minimum norm formulation are applied to maximize the total benefits from two hydro reservoirs. Time delays are often sources of complex behavior in dynamic systems. Yet its complexity needs to be further explored, particularly when multiple time delays are present. As a purpose to gain insight into such complexity under multiple time delays, we investigate the mechanism for the action of multiple time delays on a particular non-autonomous system in this paper. The original mathematical model under consideration is a Duffing oscillator with harmonic excitation. A delayed system is obtained by adding delayed feedbacks to the original system. Two time delays are involved in such system, one of which in the displacement feedback and the other in the velocity feedback. The time delays are taken as adjustable parameters to study their effects on the dynamics of the system. Firstly, the stability of the trivial equilibrium of the linearized system is discussed and the condition under which the equilibrium loses its stability is obtained. This leads to a critical stability boundary where Hopf bifurcation or double Hopf bifurcation may occur. Then, the chaotic behavior of such system is investigated in detail. Particular emphasis is laid on the effect of delay difference between two time delays on the chaotic properties. A Melnikov’s analysis is employed to obtain the necessary condition for onset of chaos resulting from homoclinic bifurcation. And numerical analyses via the bifurcation diagram and the top Lyapunov exponent are carried out to show the actual time delay effect. Both the results obtained by the two analyses show that the delay difference between two time delays plays a very important role in inducing or suppressing chaos, so that it can be taken as a simple but efficient “switch” to control the motion of a system: either from order to chaos or from chaos to order.  相似文献
