In this paper, we consider the problem (Pε)(Pε) : Δ2u=un+4/n-4+εu,u>0Δ2u=un+4/n-4+εu,u>0 in Ω,u=Δu=0Ω,u=Δu=0 on ∂ΩΩ, where ΩΩ is a bounded and smooth domain in Rn,n>8Rn,n>8 and ε>0ε>0. We analyze the asymptotic behavior of solutions of (Pε)(Pε) which are minimizing for the Sobolev inequality as ε→0ε0 and we prove existence of solutions to (Pε)(Pε) which blow up and concentrate around a critical point of the Robin's function. Finally, we show that for εε small, (Pε)(Pε) has at least as many solutions as the Ljusternik–Schnirelman category of ΩΩ.  相似文献

Given n   independent standard normal random variables, it is well known that their maxima MnMn can be normalized such that their distribution converges to the Gumbel law. In a remarkable study, Hall proved that the Kolmogorov distance dndn between the normalized MnMn and its associated limit distribution is less than 3/log?n3/log?n. In the present study, we propose a different set of norming constants that allow this upper bound to be decreased with dn≤C(m)/log?ndnC(m)/log?n for n≥m≥5nm5. Furthermore, the function C(m)C(m) is computed explicitly, which satisfies C(m)≤1C(m)1 and limm?C(m)=1/3limm?C(m)=1/3. As a consequence, some new and effective norming constants are provided using the asymptotic expansion of a Lambert W type function.  相似文献

It is well-known that an RnRn-valued random vector (X1,X2,?,Xn)(X1,X2,?,Xn) is comonotonic if and only if (X1,X2,?,Xn)(X1,X2,?,Xn) and (Q1(U),Q2(U),?,Qn(U))(Q1(U),Q2(U),?,Qn(U)) coincide in distribution, for any random variable U   uniformly distributed on the unit interval (0,1)(0,1), where Qk(⋅)Qk() are the quantile functions of XkXk, k=1,2,?,nk=1,2,?,n. It is natural to ask whether (X1,X2,?,Xn)(X1,X2,?,Xn) and (Q1(U),Q2(U),?,Qn(U))(Q1(U),Q2(U),?,Qn(U)) can coincide almost surely for some special U. In this paper, we give a positive answer to this question by construction. We then apply this result to a general behavioral investment model with a law-invariant preference measure and develop a universal framework to link the problem to its quantile formulation. We show that any optimal investment output should be anti-comonotonic with the market pricing kernel. Unlike previous studies, our approach avoids making the assumption that the pricing kernel is atomless, and consequently, we overcome one of the major difficulties encountered when one considers behavioral economic equilibrium models in which the pricing kernel is a yet-to-be-determined unknown random variable. We establish symmetrization results for the solutions of the linear fractional diffusion equation tu+(−Δ)σ/2u=ftu+(Δ)σ/2u=f and its elliptic counterpart hv+(−Δ)σ/2v=fhv+(Δ)σ/2v=f, h>0h>0, using the concept of comparison of concentrations. The results extend to the nonlinear version, tu+(−Δ)σ/2A(u)=ftu+(Δ)σ/2A(u)=f, but only when the nondecreasing function A:R+R+A:R+R+ is concave. In the elliptic case, complete symmetrization results are proved for B(v)+(−Δ)σ/2v=fB(v)+(Δ)σ/2v=f when B(v)B(v) is a convex nonnegative function for v>0v>0 with B(0)=0B(0)=0, and partial results hold when B is concave. Remarkable counterexamples are constructed for the parabolic equation when A is convex, resp. for the elliptic equation when B   is concave. We obtain a global unique continuation result for the differential inequality |(it+Δ)u|?|V(x)u||(it+Δ)u|?|V(x)u| in Rn+1Rn+1. This is the first result on global unique continuation for the Schrödinger equation with time-independent potentials V(x)V(x) in RnRn. Our method is based on a new type of Carleman estimates for the operator itit+Δ on Rn+1Rn+1. We prove that if a set S⊂RnSRn is Zariski closed at infinity, then the algebra of polynomials bounded on S cannot be finitely generated. It is a new proof of a fact already known to Plaumann and Scheiderer (2012) [1]. Let K   be a hypergroup with a Haar measure. The purpose of the present paper is to initiate a systematic approach to the study of the class of invariant complemented subspaces of L(K)L(K) and C0(K)C0(K), the class of left translation invariant w?w?-subalgebras of L(K)L(K) and finally the class of non-zero left translation invariant C?C?-subalgebras of C0(K)C0(K) in the hypergroup context with the goal of finding some relations between these function spaces. Among other results, we construct two correspondences: one, between closed Weil subhypergroups and certain left translation invariant w?w?-subalgebras of L(K)L(K), and another, between compact subhypergroups and a specific subclass of the class of left translation invariant C?C?-subalgebras of C0(K)C0(K). By the help of these two characterizations, we extract some results about invariant complemented subspaces of L(K)L(K) and C0(K)C0(K).  相似文献
