Primary vertex reconstruction is crucial to estimate the beam profile in collision experiments. We study the principle of an iterative process, called the Kalman filter method, and apply it to primary vertex reconstruction at BESⅢ. A Newton procedure to find the zero point of the distance function's gradient is used for primary vertex finding in 3-dimensional space. Results are obtained based on raw data at BESⅢ. 相似文献

The Beijing Spectrometer Ⅲ(BESⅢ)is a general-purpose detector used for the study of τ-charm physics at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider Ⅱ(BEPC Ⅱ).This paper presents our studies of the dE/dx measurement in the drift chamber of BESⅢ,which is important for the identification of charged particles.Corrections applied to the dE/dx measurement in data reconstruction are discussed.After our current dE/dx calibration,a resolution of about 6% has been obtained for minimum ionization particles,and a 3σ K/πseparation is obtained for momenta up to 760 MeV/c.These results meet the design goals of the BESⅢ drift chamber. 相似文献

The reconstruction algorithm for BESⅢ Muon Counter, MucRecAlg, is developed with the objectoriented language C++ in BESⅢ offine software environment. MucRecAlg consists of the following functions:to find track seeds either from extrapolation of tracks in the main drift chamber or from the fired strips in muon counter, to select fired strips associated to the candidate tracks, to fit the candidate tracks with a linear or quadratic function and to calculate other parameters of the tracks for muon identification. Monte Carlo samples are generated to check the performance of the reconstruction package, such as reconstruction effciency, muon remaining rate and pion rejection rate, etc. The preliminary results show that the pion rejection rate is around 3%—4% while the muon remaining rate is better than 90% in 0.4—1.6 GeV/c momentum region, which meets the requirement as shown in the design report. 相似文献

Data quality monitoring (DQM) plays an important role in data taking at the BESⅢ experiments. DQM is used to monitor detector status and data quality. A DQM framework (DQMF) has been developed to make it possible to reuse the BESⅢ offline reconstruction system in the online environment. In this framework, the DQMF can also simulate a virtual data taking environment, transfer events to the event display, publish histograms to a histogram presenter in a fixed interval, and dump histograms into a ROOT file. The DQMF has been stably running throughout BESⅢ data taking. 相似文献

The online Data Quality Monitoring (DQM) tool plays an important role in the data recording process of HEP experiments. The BESⅢ DQM collects data from the online data flow, reconstructs them with offline reconstruction software and automatically analyzes the reconstructed data with user-defined algorithms. The DQM software is a scalable distributed system. The monitored results are gathered and displayed in various formats, which provides the shifter with current run information that can be used to identify problems quickly. The calibration algorithm for RPC-based muon detector at BESⅢ has been developed. The calibration method, calibration error and algorithm performance are studied. The primary results of efficiency and noise at layer, module and strip levels have been calibrated with cosmic ray data. The calibration constants are available for simulation and reconstruction tuning. The results of Monte Carlo and data are also compared to check the validation and reliability of the algorithm. 相似文献

We describe the algorithm to reconstruct the charged tracks for BESⅢ main drift chamber at BEPCⅡ, including the track finding and fitting. With a new method of the Track Segment Finder (TSF), the results of present study indicate that the algorithm can reconstruct the charged tracks over a wide range of momentum with high efficiency, while improving the robustness against the background noise in the drift chamber. The overall performances, including spatial resolution, momentum resolution and secondary vertices reconstruction efficiency, etc. satisfy the requirements of BESⅢ experiment. 相似文献

A measurement of the number of J/ψ events collected with the BESⅢ detector in 2009 and 2012 is performed using inclusive decays of the J/ψ. The number of J/ψ events taken in 2009 is recalculated to be(223.7±1.4)×10~6, which is in good agreement with the previous measurement, but with significantly improved precision due to improvements in the BESⅢ software. The number of J/ψ events taken in 2012 is determined to be(1086.9±6.0)×10~6. In total, the number of J/ψ events collected with the BESⅢ detector is measured to be(1310.6±7.0)×106, where the uncertainty is dominated by systematic effects and the statistical uncertainty is negligible. 相似文献

We present physics opportunities and topics with the s states(strangeonia)that can be studied with the BES detector operating at the BEPC collider.Though the φ and η/ states have long been established experimentally,only a handful of strangeonia are well known,in contrast to the rich ccharmoium system.An overview of the s states and their experimental status is presented in this paper.The BES experiment has collected the world’s largest samples of J/ψ,ψ(2S),ψ(3770),and direct e+e-annihilations at energies below the J/ψand above 3.8 Ge V,and will continue to accumulate high quality,large integrated luminosity in theτ-charm energy region.These data,combined with the excellent performance of the BESⅢ detector,will offer unprecedented opportunities to explore the s system.In this paper we describe the experimental techniques to explore strangeonia with the BESⅢ detector. 相似文献

A two-dimensional particle-in-cell simulation is used to
study the time-dependent evolution of the sheath surrounding a
prolate spheroid target during a high voltage pulse in plasma source
ion implantation. Our study shows that the potential contour lines
pack more closely in the plasma sheath near the vertex of the major
axis, i.e. where a thinner sheath is formed, and a non-uniform total
ion dose distribution is incident along the surface of the prolate
spheroid target due to the focusing of ions by the potential
structure. Ion focusing takes place not only at the vertex of the
major axis, where dense potential contour lines exist, but also at
the vertex of the minor axis, where sparse contour lines exist. This
results in two peaks of the received ion dose, locating at the
vertices of the major and minor axes of the prolate spheroid target,
and an ion dose valley, staying always between the vertices, rather

There has recently been a dramatic renewal of interest in hadron spectroscopy and charm physics. This renaissance has been driven in part by the discovery of a plethora of charmonium-like XYZ states at BESⅢ and B factories, and the observation of an intriguing proton-antiproton threshold enhancement and the possibly related X(1835) meson state at BESⅢ, as well as the threshold measurements of charm mesons and charm baryons. We present a detailed survey of the important topics in tau-charm physics and hadron physics that can be further explored at BESⅢ during the remaining operation period of BEPCⅡ. This survey will help in the optimization of the data-taking plan over the coming years, and provides physics motivation for the possible upgrade of BEPCⅡ to higher luminosity. 相似文献

We consider the annihilation process of an electron-positron pair into a pair of heavier fermions when the initial electron and positron beams are polarized. By calculating the polarization of the final-state particles, we discuss in detail the effect due to the produced particle masses in the τ-charm energy region at BEPC/BES, and also compare the effect with that at the B-factory. A modified adaptive algebraic reconstruction technique (MAART) with an auto-adjustment relaxation parameter and smoothness regularization is developed to reveal the tomographic reconstruction of H 2 O distribution in combustion from incomplete projections. Determinations of relaxation parameter and regularization factor are discussed with regard to the consideration of improvement in reconstruction and reduction of computational burden. A two-wavelength scheme from tunable diode laser absorption measurement, 7444.36 and 7185.59 cm 1 , is used to simplify the nonlinear solution problem for obtaining the tomographic distributions of concentration and temperature simultaneously. Results of calculations demonstrate that MAART can perform the reconstruction results more efficiently with little complex modification and much lower iterations as compared with the traditional algebraic reconstruction technique (ART) or simultaneous iterative reconstruction technique (SIRT) methods. The stability of the algorithm is studied by reconstruction from projections with random noise at different levels to demonstrate the dependence of reconstruction results on precise line-of-sight measurements. 相似文献

In order to take away much more heat on the BESⅢ beam pipe to guarantee the normal particle detection,EDM-1(oil No.1 for electric discharge machining),with good thermal and flow properties was selected as the candidate coolant for the central beryllium pipe of the BESⅢ beam pipe.Its cooling character was studied and dynamic corrosion experiment was undertaken to examine its corrosion on beryllium.The experiment results show that EDM-1 would corrode the beryllium 19.9 μm in the depth in 10 years,which is weak and can be neglected.Finite element simulation and experiment research were taken to check the cooling capacity of EDM-1.The results show that EDM-1 can meet the cooling requirement of the central beryllium pipe.Now EDM-1 is being used to cool the central beryllium pipe of the BESⅢ beam pipe. 相似文献

Offline calibration plays an important role in BES offline data processing. In order to achieve good spatial and momentum resolution, it is necessary to implement high precision offline calibration for the BES drift chamber. This paper studies the time-to-distance relations, which are important calibration constants for track reconstruction. The parameterization of the time-to-distance relation, studies of left-right asymmetry and studies of variation with entrance angle are performed. The impact of dead channels on the time-to-distance relation is given special attention in order to reduce the shift in measured momentum for tracks passing near dead cells. Finally we present the resolutions for barrel Bhabha events(|cos θ|< 0.8) from a J/ψ data set taken in 2012. The average spatial resolution is 123 μm and the momentum resolution for 1.548 Ge V/c Bhabha tracks is 11.9 Me V/c. 相似文献

A GEANT4-based Monte-Carlo (MC) model is developed to study the performance of endcap time-of-flight (ETOF) at BESⅢ. It's found that the multiple scattering effects, mainly from the materials at the MDC endcap, can cause multi-hit on the ETOF's readout cell and significantly influence the timing property of ETOF. A multi-gap resistive plate chamber (MRPC) with a smaller readout cell structure is more suitable for the ETOF detector due to significantly reduced multi-hit rate (per channel), from 71.5% for currently-used scintillator-based ETOF to 21.8% or 16.7% for MRPC-based ETOF, depending on the readout pad size used. The timing performance of an MRPC ETOF is also improved. These simulation results suggest and guide an ETOF upgrade effort at BESⅢ. 相似文献
