Abstract

The development of new synthetic methods for the monoalkylation of calix[4]arenes at the lower rim allows the synthesis of a new class of trihydroxamate siderophores. Three chelating hydroxamic acid units are introduced through a sequence of reactions which blocks the macrocycle in the cone conformation. The new ligands obtained form neutral 1:1 complexes (FeL) with iron (III), which are stable in EtOH/H2O 9:1 at pH 2–7. Calix[4]arene bis-crown ethers are prepared by exploiting the selective 1,2-(proximal) functionalization of calix[4]arenes at the lower rim. These ligands are, however, less effective in complexing alkali metal cations compared with the 1,3-calix[4]arene crown-ethers which, in their partial cone structure, offer a better shielding for the complexed cations. Rigid upper rim-bridged calix[4]arenes potentially useful for the inclusion of neutral molecules are prepared by exploiting the selective 1,3-diformylation of calix[4]arene at the upper rim. Finally a new chloromethylation method for calix[4]arenes blocked in the cone conformation is described together with the synthesis of new cavitands.  相似文献

Novel calix[4]arene derivatives functionalized with two or four isosteviol units at the upper rim and a new calix[6]arene having six isosteviol moieties at the lower rim have been synthesized. The structures of these compounds have been confirmed by NMR and mass spectrometry data. All 1H and 13C NMR chemical shifts of isosteviol were fully assigned by extensive NMR spectroscopic methods, and used to clarify the structures and conformations of isosteviol-calixarene conjugates.  相似文献

A series of stilbene-bridged calix[4]arenes was synthesized through an intramolecular reductive McMurry coupling of bisbenzaldehyde calix[4]arene in high yields. Tetra- and pentaethylene glycol chains were tethered to the phenolic groups of calix[4]arene to form stilbene-bridged calix[4]arene crown-5 and crown-6, respectively. The presence of stilbene bridge over the calix[4]arene rim effectively prevented the connection of the polyether chains in the cone conformation resulting in the exclusive formation of 1,3-alternate stilbene-bridged calix[4]arene crown product. Compared to the cone analogues, the 1,3-alternate calix[4]arene crown ethers showed a greater extraction ability and selectivity toward Cs+.  相似文献

The synthesis of chiral calix[4]arenes with tartaric acid ester moieties has been achieved by the reactions of tartaric ester chloroacetates with calix[4]arenes in moderate yields. All the chiral calix[4]arene derivatives are in a cone conformation according to the 1H NMR doublet–doublet pattern of the protons of the methylene groups between the phenol rings. The results of NMR and specific rotations indicate that the molecules have C2 symmetry with asymmetric features.  相似文献

New podands based on the p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene unit with substitution at the lower rim incorporating imine units, have been synthesized in high yield by simple condensation method. These podands have been shown to extract and transport Ag+ selectively over alkali, alkaline earth metal cations, Zn2+, Pb2+ and Hg2+ ions, from neutral aqueous phase to organic phase. In all the ligands the calix unit has been found to be present in a cone conformation except for the one having pyridine as end group, at the ortho position. It has been isolated in two conformations; cone and 1,2-alternate. To the best of our knowledge, this may be the first 1,3-lower rim substituted calix[4]arene to exist in a 1,2-alternate conformation and is among a few known compounds with this conformation in the general class of calix[4]arenes. A complex of this ligand, which happens to be the highest extractant of Ag+ has been isolated and characterized using mass, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy's and elemental analysis. The spectroscopic evidence and molecular modelling studies performed on the complex suggest a participation of the imine and pyridine nitrogens and two of the ether oxygens in coordination to the metal ion. The X-ray crystal structures of three of the ligands establish the formation of inclusion complexes with polar acetonitrile solvent molecules. The 1H and 13C NMR spectra of all the compounds, taken in CDCl3, show the presence of acetonitrile molecules in the cavity of the calix[4]arene, indicating inclusion of the neutral guest molecules in the solution phase as well. For one of the podands X-ray crystal structure has shown a formation of clatharate complex of chloroform with the ligand which has rarely been found in the case of calix[4]arenes.  相似文献

p-t-Octylcalix[4]arene with tetraphosphonic acid at lower rim in cone conformation has been designed and synthesized as a new extraction reagent to investigate the extraction behavior of the nine trivalent rare earth elements: La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Ho, Y, and Er. The extraction of rare earth metals with the present extractant occurs by a simple ion-exchange mechanism. The stoichiometry of the extractant to rare earth metal ion was determined to be 2:1 based on the extraction equation, half pH values, pH1/2, and the difference in the values of the extraction equilibrium constants of nine trivalent rare earth elements and separation factors between adjacent rare earth elements. This allowed for comparison of the estimated extraction efficiency and selectivity. The present extractant exhibited extremely high extractability and sufficiently high separation efficiency of rare earth metals, compared with calix[4]arene tetraphosphonic acid at upper rim, calix[4]arene tetraacetic acid at lower rim as previously reported and the commercial extraction reagent. This results was attributed to size and multidentate effects based on the preorganized cyclic structure of calix[4]arene and to the original selectivity of functional group for heavier rare earth elements.  相似文献

Bis- and tetra-O- and C-glycosyl calixarenes (calixsugars) have been prepared by tethering carbohydrate moieties to a tetrapropoxycalix[4]arene scaffold through alkyl chains. Two methodologies have been employed. One consisted of the stereoselective multiple glycosylation of upper rim calix[4]arene polyols leading to calix-O-glycosides; the other involved a multiple Wittig olefination of upper rim calix[4]arene-derived polyaldehydes by the use of sugar phosphoranes and reduction of the alkene double bonds affording calix-C-glycosides. The NMR spectra and NOE experiments of bis-glycosylated products indicate that compounds bearing sugar-protected residues exist preferentially in solution in a flattened cone arrangement (far conformation) whereas deprotected derivatives adopt a close conformation. Calculations by molecular mechanics of the latter compounds point to a close conformation as well in gas phase.  相似文献

The cone conformation of C 4 symmetry is shown by the Hartree-Fock method (3-21G basis) to be the predominant conformer of calix[4]arene; the compressed cone of C 2 symmetry is the major conformer of calix[6]arene. Using quantum chemical methods we calculated hydrogen bond cleavage energies for calix[4]-(ab initio and density functional methods) and calix[6]arene (ab initio), and also for the complex of calix[4]arene with carbon disulfide. These energies along with structural data point to the cooperative effect of hydrogen bonds. The results of these studies provided an explanation to the greater conformational lability of calix[6]arene compared with calix[4]arene molecules. It is also predicted that the nucleophilic substitution reaction involving calix[6]arene in the presence of weak bases and in aprotic solvents, as well as in the gas phase, will occur via diastereomeric transition states.  相似文献

A series of monobridged calix [4] arenes 3a-f,cyclic biscalix-[4] arenes 4a-f ,diametrically bridged at the upper rim with saturated aliphatic diester chians,have been synthesized,The results at diluted conditions show that the percentage of yields of mono-,bis- and oligo-calix[4] arenes are related to the legth of the chains ,With the shortening of the chains ,the percent-age of monocalix[4] arenes decreased ,All the calix [4] arene moieties are in a cone conformaiton according to the AB quar-tet pattern of the methylene protons between the phenolic rings in the ^1H NMR spectra.  相似文献

The analysis of structural parameters of azobenzene- and stilbene-bridged calix[4]arene obtained from AM1 calculation are in good agreement with those obtained from X-ray crystallography. The bridge longer than 9.0 Å such as p,p-trans-azobenzene and p,p-trans-stilbene cannot be constructed over the narrow rim of calix[4]arene through two ethylene oxide linkers. The m,m-stilbene bridge is the most promising photo switch because its shorter cis stereoisomer (5.85 Å) allows calix[4]arene to assume the perfect cone conformation, whilst its longer trans stereoisomer (8.00 Å) forces calix[4]arene to adapt a pinched cone conformation. The pinched cone conformation has longer distances between the neighbouring phenoxyl groups causing the weaker intramolecular hydrogen bonding and the upfield shifts of the phenolic proton signals to below 7.00 ppm. This upfield shift is useful for quick identification of pinched cone conformation of new calix[4]arene compounds.  相似文献

Wide rim tetraurea calix[4]arenes monofunctionalized at the narrow rim by COOH or NH2 have been synthesized in five steps from t-butylcalix[4]arene tripropylether. Their covalent linkage via the narrow rim to a central calix[4]arene fixed in the 1,3-alternate conformation led to pentacalix[4]arenes 9 bearing four tetraurea derivatives in the cone conformation in a flexible tetrahedral arrangement. Their self-assembly via the formation of hydrogen bonded dimeric capsules has been studied under different conditions. A fourfold heterodimerisation of tetrakis-tetraurea derivatives of type 9 with tetratosylurea 10 has been confirmed by 1H NMR-spectroscopy and dynamic light scattering.  相似文献

通过对杯[4]芳烃以及杯[6]芳烃上缘进行烯丙基化和硅氢加成2步衍生化反应得到硅氢化杯[4]芳烃以及硅氢化杯[6]芳烃,再将这2种硅氢化杯芳烃衍生物分别接枝到超细SiO2上。在不同的pH值条件下,就2种杯芳烃接枝超细SiO2衍生物对水合Cu2+及Ag+的萃取性能进行了研究。结果表明,与对叔丁基杯芳烃相比较,杯芳烃接枝超细SiO2衍生物对Cu2+和Ag+的萃取率都有所提高,其中杯[4]芳烃接枝超细SiO2对Ag+的最高萃取率达到98.78%,杯[6]芳烃接枝超细SiO2对Cu2+的最高萃取率达到67.74%。  相似文献

A series of novel cone-configurated p-tert-butyl-trimethoxycalix[6]arenes bearing three 2,2′-bipyridyl units at their lower rim have been synthesized. The 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra of synthesized derivatives revealed that the ring inversion in calix[6]arene could be suppressed by the introduction of three 2,2′-bipyridyl moieties at the lower rim of calix[6]arene scaffold which fixes it into its cone configuration. The complexation ability of the synthesized receptors (5ad) towards Fe(II) ion was investigated by UV-Visible titration to reveal that the synthesized receptors interact with Fe(II) in a 1:1 binding stoichiometry and respond to a specific oxidation state of the metal ion. The observations have significance for studies directed at the design of molecular receptors for ionic speciation through molecular recognition.  相似文献

Stereochemical problems and related functions of calix[4]arenes, calix[6]arenes and their chiral derivatives have been reviewed. In p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene (1H4) and its mono-, di-, tri-, and tetra-O-alkyl derivatives (1H3R, 1H2R2,1HR3, and 1R4, respectively), 23 different homologues can exist (including 1H4). We found that the OH group in the unmodified phenol unit is permeable through the calix[4]arene ring. Thus, several conformational isomers become equivalent after the ‘oxygen-through-the-annulus’ rotation of the OH group and the number of possible homologues is reduced to 13 (including 1H3). We report in this paper the syntheses of all of these possible conformational isomers using a protection-deprotection method with a benzyl group and metal template effects. On the other hand, all possible chiral isomers that can be derived from calix[4]arene by modification of the OH groups have been systematically classified. Molecular asymmetry can be generated not only by different substituents but also by conformational isomerism. The numbers of chiral isomers are 17 for tetra-O-substituted calix[4]arenes, 9 for tri-O-substituted calix[4]arenes, 3 for di-O-substituted calix[4]arenes, and 0 for mono-O-substituted calix[4]arenes. Chiral calix[4]arenes can also be designed by the introduction of a substituent into the m-position of a phenol unit or by the use of a dissymmetric ‘stapling reaction’ in proximal phenol units. In p-tert-butylcalix[6]arene, the conformational behaviour is totally different from that in p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene. A large degree of conformational freedom remains in the framework, and both ‘oxygen-through-the-annulus rotation’ and ‘para-substituent-through-the-annulus rotation’ can take place. However, when metal cations are bound to calix[6]aryl esters, the conformation is changed to a cone type. Bridging and capping are powerful methods to immobilize the conformation of calix[6]arenes. In addition, definitive evidence for ring immobilization was obtained from the absence of racemization in the chiral calix[6]arene. A successful example of chiral recognition for α-amino acid derivatives was achieved by using chiral homooxacalix[3]arene which has ‘pseudo C2 symmetry’. These examples indicate that calixarenes serve as rigid and conformationally diversiform platforms for the design of novel functional supramolecules.  相似文献

The synthesis of the first enantiopure calix[6]aza-cryptand was achieved in five steps from the known 1,3,5-tris-O-methylated calix[6]arene. A 1H NMR spectroscopic study has shown that the chiral tren cap constrains the calixarene core in a straight cone conformation ideal for host–guest chemistry applications. As a result, the tetra-protonated derivative displays remarkable host properties towards polar neutral molecules and enantioselective recognition processes have been evidenced with chiral guests.  相似文献

[reaction: see text] Optically pure calix[6]arenes bearing chiral amino arms 4, 7, and 10 have been synthesized in high yields from the known symmetrically 1,3,5-trismethylated calix[6]arene. For both compounds 7 and 10, the key step consists of an efficient selective alkylation on the narrow rim of the calix[6]arene with Ba(OH)2 as the base. All of these chiral calix[6]tris-amines possess a similar flattened cone conformation with the cavity occupied by the methoxy groups. In contrast to 4 and 7, upon protonation, the enantiopure calix[6]arene 10 can switch to the opposite flattened cone conformation through self-assembly of its ammonium arms in an ion-paired cap which closes the cavity. As shown by NMR host-guest studies and an X-ray structure, the obtained polarized host (10 x 3H+) behaves as a remarkable endo-receptor for small polar neutral molecules. Thanks to the tris-cationic chiral binding site of 10 x 3H+, it was shown that the guests experience a chiral environment upon inclusion. Finally, the first example of enantioselective molecular recognition inside the cavity of a calix[6]arene has been evidenced with a racemic 1,2-diol guest.  相似文献

A direct deuteration of the upper rim of calix[4]arene has been carried out for the first time. 25,27-Dialkoxy derivatives of calix[4]arene (R = Me, Et, n-Pr, n-Bu) were regioselectively deuterated at the para positions of unsubstituted phenolic rings using DCl/D2O in tetrachloroethane. Interestingly, identical reaction conditions do not lead to deuteration of mono- or tri-substituted derivatives where only simple cleavage of alkyl substituents was observed.  相似文献

We first make use of aminolysis of calix[4]arene esters to synthesize calix[4]arene amides. When the two ethyl esters of the calix[4]arene esters are aminolysized, the 1, 3-amide derivative is formed selectively. The crystal structures of the calix-[4]arene with two butyl amide (3b) and four butyl amide moieties (4b) were determined. The intermolecular hydrogen bonds make 4b form two-dimensional net work insolid state. The 1H NMR spectra prove that 3b is of a pinched cone conformation, while 4b and tetraheptylamide-calix[4]arene (6b) take fast interconversion between two C2v isomers in solution and appear an apparent cone conformation at room temperature. As decreasing temperature, the interconversion rate decreases gradually and, finally, the interconversion process is frozen at Tc = -10℃, which makes both conformations of 4b and 6b the pinched cone structures. The hydrogen bond improves the interconversion barrier, and the large different values of the potential barrier between 6b and 4b (or 6b) may  相似文献
