The spin transport of holes through a quantum wire made of many identical T-shaped diluted magnetic semiconductor/semiconductor units is investigated theoretically. The spin-down and spin-up transmission coefficients have been studied as a function of stub parameters. The spin-up transmission coefficient as a function of the stub length is extremely negligible, in the case of multiple-stub quantum wire, while the spin-down transmission coefficient shows a nearly periodic behaviour with regions of large transmission separated by forbidden bands. The spin polarization switches periodically between one and zero as the stub length is changed and shows a square-wave pattern.  相似文献

The STM tunneling through a quantum wire (QW) with a side-attached impurity (atom, island) is investigated using a tight-binding model and the non-equilibrium Keldysh Green function method. The impurity can be coupled to one or more QW atoms. The presence of the impurity strongly modifies the local density of states of the wire atoms, thus influences the STM tunneling through all the wire atoms. The transport properties of the impurity itself are also investigated mainly as a function of the wire length and the way it is coupled to the wire. It is shown that the properties of the impurity itself and the way it is coupled to the wire strongly influence the STM tunneling, the density of states and differential conductance.  相似文献

A dc electric current due to a flow of ultrasonic phonons through a quantum wire containing an isolated point impurity is analyzed theoretically. An explicit expression for the acoustoelectric (AE) current is obtained and its dependence on the chemical potential of the electron gas and the induction of the external magnetic field is investigated. It is shown that a point impurity may lead to a partial or complete destruction of the steplike structure of the AE current as a function of the chemical potential.  相似文献

A system of arrays of nanowires side-coupled to a quantum wire is studied. Transport through the quantum wire is investigated by using a noninteracting Anderson tunneling Hamiltonian. An analytical expression of the conductance at zero temperature is given, showing a band with alternating forbidden and allowed minibands due to the discrete structure of the nanowires. A generalization of the odd–even parity symmetry is found in this system, whose conductance exhibits a forbidden miniband in the center of the band for an odd number of sites in the nanowires, while shows an allowed band for an even number.  相似文献

We study the electron states and the differential cross section for an electron Raman scattering process in a semiconductor quantum well wire of cylindrical ring geometry. The electron Raman scattering developed here can be used to provide direct information about the electron band structures of these confinement systems. We assume that the system grows in a Ga As/Al0.35Ga0.65 As matrix. The system is modeled by considering T = 0 K and also a single parabolic conduction band, which is split into a sub-band system due to the confinement. The emission spectra are discussed for different scattering configurations, and the selection rules for the processes are also studied. Singularities in the spectra are found and interpreted.  相似文献

The quantum transport properties of a non-interacting mesoscopic ring sandwiched between two metallic electrodes are investigated by the use of Green's function technique. Here, we introduce parametric approach, based on the tight-binding model to study these transport properties. The electronic transport properties are focused in three aspects: (a) geometry of the mesoscopic ring, (b) coupling strength of the ring with the two electrodes and (c) magnetic flux threaded by the ring.  相似文献

The absorption of electromagnetic radiation of a three-dimensional quantum wire is theoretically investigated taking into account the processes associated with simultaneous scattering from ionized impurities. We report transport measurements on a semiconductor quantum dot with a small number of confined electrons. In the Coulomb blockade regime, conduction is dominated by cotunneling processes. These can be either elastic or inelastic, depending on whether they leave the dot in its ground state or drive it into an excited state, respectively. We are able to discriminate between these two contributions and show that inelastic events can occur only if the applied bias exceeds the lowest excitation energy. Implications to energy-level spectroscopy are discussed.  相似文献

We use in this paper the variational method to calculate the polarizability of a hydrogenic donor impurity, in the presence of electric field, in a V-groove GaAs/AlxGa1−xAs quantum wire. The carrier ground states are analytically obtained by an effective potential scheme together with a suitable coordinate transformation that allows the decoupling of the two-dimensional Schrodinger equation. According to the results obtained from the present work for polarizability and binding energy reveals that the impurity position and field direction play important roles.  相似文献

Summary The binding energy for on-centre impurities in a rectangular quantum well wire is calculated as a function of the width of the wire and perpendicular magnetic field. Spin relaxation in the impurity band of a 2D semiconductor with spin-split spectrum and hyperfine interaction in the external magnetic field is considered. Two contributions to the spin relaxation are shown to be relevant: the one given by optimal impurity configurations with the hop-waiting time inversely proportional to the external magnetic field and another one related to electron motion over large distances. The average spin relaxation rate is calculated. The article is published in the original.  相似文献

Interest in the study of the behavior of shallow impurity centers in superlattices and quantum well structures is fairly recent. This paper reviews briefly both the theoretical and experimental work done in this field in the last few years. Several recent calculations of the energy levels of hydrogenic impurity states in quantum well structures, such as Ga1?xAlxAsGaAsGa1?xAlxAs, are reviewed. The behavior of these levels as a function of the quantum well size is discussed. Recent experimental data concerning the variations of the binding energies of shallow donors and acceptors as a function of the GaAs quantum well size are reviewed. A comparison between these experimental measurements and the results of recent calculations is presented.  相似文献

We study theoretically the low-temperature electronic transport property of a straight quantum wire under the irradiation of a finite-range transversely polarized external terahertz (THz) electromagnetic (EM) field. Using the freeelectron model and the scattering matrix approach, we show an unusual behaviour of the electronic transmission of this system. A sharp step-structure appears in the electronic transmission probability as the EM field strength increases to a threshold value when a coherent EM field is applied. We demonstrate that this effect physically comes from the inelastic scattering of electrons with lateral photons through intersubband transitions.  相似文献

Effects of an external magnetic field on free induction decay (FID) and the Stark effect in GaAs/GaAlAs quantum wires have been investigated analytically. Our results show that both FID and the Stark effect become enhanced due to the presence of a magnetic field. We have also seen that the magnetic field plays an important role in wider wires while in thinner wires, the geometric confinement dominates over the magnetic effects. The results are found to be in good qualitative agreement with that available in the literature.  相似文献

Electron transport through a quantum cavity coupled with two one-dimensional waveguides is studied using a generalized scattering matrix method. In a symmetric N-channel cavity model, we are able to obtain an exact solution that predicts the electron energies at which the transmission of electron waves become zero. We found that the zero of transmission is closely related to the longitudinal resonance through inter-channel scattering, in particular, to the resonance of the highest propagating mode inside the cavity. This model provides a simple way to calculate the electron transmission through a cavity which could be useful in quantum waveguide engineering.  相似文献

应用非平衡格林函数方法,研究了带有微波调制的侧向耦合量子点的量子线中的光辅助隧穿.在考虑了量子干涉和微波场的情况下,得出并讨论了电子传榆幅度和相位方面的信息.电子传输幅度显示出一系列的反共振峰(对应图中的谷结构).峰值的高度与振荡的微波场的幅度和频率有关,而峰的位置只与微波场的频率有关.在有限温的情况下,反共振峰值的高度随着温度的增加而减小,当温度足够高时,反共振峰会消失,特别地,在一定的温度下,低温下谷的地方会演变成峰.  相似文献
