In the upgrade project of Hefei Light Source(HLSⅡ),a new digital longitudinal bunch-by-bunch feedback system will be developed to suppress the coupled bunch instabilities in the storage ring effectively. We design a new waveguide overloaded cavity longitudinal feedback kicker as the feedback actuator. The beam pipe of the kicker is a racetrack shape so as to avoid a transition part to the octagonal vacuum chamber. The central frequency and the bandwidth of the kicker have been simulated and optimized to achieve design goals by the HFSS code.A higher shunt impedance can be obtained by using a nose cone to reduce the feedback power requirement. Before the kicker cavity was installed in the storage ring,a variety of measurements were carried out to check its performance. All these results of simulation and measurement are presented.  相似文献

The upgrade project of the Hefei Light Source (HLS), named HLS-Ⅱ , is under way, which includes the reconstruction of its storage ring. The HLS-Ⅱ storage ring has lower emittance and more straight sections available for insertion devices as compared with the present HLS storage ring. The scan method is applied to the linear lattice optimization for the HLS-Ⅱ storage ring to get thorough information about the lattice. To reduce the amount of computation, several scans with different grid spacing values are conducted. In addition, the calculation of the chromatic sextupole strength for the achromatic mode is included in the scan, which is useful for nonlinear lattice optimization. To better analyze the obtained solutions in the scan, the lattice properties and the variables of quadrupole strengths are statistically analyzed. The process of selecting solutions is described in detail, including the choice of the working point, the settings for the emittance and optical functions, and the restriction of maximum magnet strength. Two obtained lattices, one for the achromatic mode and the other for the non-achromatic mode, are presented, including their optical functions and optimized dynamic apertures.  相似文献

The Hefei Light Source (HLS) is undergoing a major upgrade project, named HLS-Ⅱ , in order to obtain lower emittance and more insertion device straight sections. Undulators are the main insertion devices in the HLS-Ⅱ storage ring. In this paper, based on the database of lattice parameters built for the HLS-Ⅱ storage ring obtained by the global scan method, we use the quantity related to the undulator radiation brightness to more directly search for high brightness lattices. Lattice solutions for achromatic and non-achromatic modes are easily found with lower emittance, smaller beta functions at the center of the insertion device straight sections and lower dispersion in non-zero dispersion straight sections compared with the previous lattice solutions. In this paper, the superperiod lattice with alternating high and low horizontal beta functions in long straight sections for the achromatic mode is studied using the multiobjective particle swarm optimization algorithm.  相似文献

The upgrade project of the Hefei Light Source storage ring is under way.In this paper, the broadband impedances of resistive wall and coated ceramic vacuum chamber are calculated using the analytic formula, and the wake fields and impedances of other designed vacuum chambers are simulated by CST code, and then a broadband impedance model is obtained.Using the theoretical formula, longitudinal and transverse single bunch instabilities axe discussed. With the carefully-designed vacuum chamber,we find that the thresholds of the beam instabilities are higher than the beam current goal.  相似文献

In this paper, we present some preliminary studies on using a Robinson wiggler to reduce the horizontal beam emittance in the Hefei Light Source Ⅱ (HLS-Ⅱ) storage ring. A proof-of-principle lattice demonstrates that it is possible to reduce its emittance by 50% with a 2-meter long wiggler. This encouraging result suggests a feasible option to significantly improve the machine performance at a relatively low cost.  相似文献

We investigate storage ring-based Echo-Enabled Harmonic Generation(EEHG) superradiant undulator radiation as a possible scheme to obtain shorter wavelengths at the HLS-Ⅱ(Hefei Light Source-Ⅱ) storage ring. In this paper we give the designation of the storage ring based EEHG up to the 26 th harmonic, where 31 nm vacuum ultraviolet light is radiated from an 800 nm seeded laser. The novelty of our design is that both the two dispersion sections of EEHG are realized by the storage ring's own magnet structure. In particular, the whole ring is used as the first dispersion section, and two modulators of the traditional EEHG can be done with the same undulator. These two dispersion sections are realized by changing the superperiod of the present lattice structure, and more precisely by changing the focusing strengths of the present structure. Since no additional magnets and chicanes are used, the beam circulates around the storage ring repeatedly, and thus this storage ring-based EEHG can have a higher repetition rate than a linac-based EEHG.  相似文献

A passive higher harmonic cavity (HHC) will be used in the Hefei Light Source II Project (HLS-Ⅱ) to lengthen the bunch and consequently increase the beam lifetime dominated by Touschek scattering. The effects of constant voltage and constant detuning have been calculated and compared over the operating current from 0.4 to 0.2 A on the bunch lengthening for the passive normal conducting harmonic cavity system in HLS-Ⅱ. The results show that the bunch shape has less change and the lifetime improvement factors are not less than 2.7 over the beam currents for the constant voltage case. The constant voltage operating scheme may be applied to our machine.  相似文献

A simulation code that executes the tracking of longitudinal oscillations of the bunches for the double rf system of the Hefei Light Source Ⅱ Project (HLS-Ⅱ) is presented to estimate the mean beam lifetime and the Robinson instabilities. The tracking results show that the mean beam lifetime is in agreement with the analytical results and the system is stable when we tune the harmonic cavity in the optimum lengthening conditions. Moreover, the simulated results of the asymmetric fill pattern show that some bunches are compressed only with a 7% gap (3 gaps), which will lead to the reduction in the mean bunch lengthening and potential beam lifetime. It is demonstrated that HLS-Ⅱ with a passive higher harmonic cavity is not suitable for operating in an asymmetric fill pattern.  相似文献

A higher-harmonic cavity will be used to increase the beam lifetime and suppress coupled-bunch instabilities for Hefei Light Source-Ⅱ. In this paper, results simulated by the particle-tracking model confirm that tuning in the harmonic cavity may suppress the parasitic coupled-bunch instabilities. The factors calculated for lifetime improvement are larger than 2.5. The 3rd and 4th harmonic cavities have been designed. In particular, the absorbers and antenna couplers are applied in harmonic cavities to damp the higher order modes. Finally, the 4th harmonic cavity similar to the Duke's RF cavity will be used for HLS-Ⅱ.  相似文献

In this paper, the synchronization of a unified chaotic system is investigated by the use of output feedback controllers; a two-input single-output feedback controller and single-input single-output feedback controller are presented to synchronize the unified chaotic system when the states are not all measurable. Compared with the existing results, the controllers designed in this paper have some advantages such as small feedback gain, simple structure and less conservation. Finally, numerical simulations results are provided to demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed method.  相似文献

BEPCⅡ, the upgrade project of Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC), is an accelerator with large beam current and high luminosity, so an efficient and stable injector is required. Several beam diagnostic and monitoring instruments are used. A new diagnostic instrument — wire scanner, has been designed and will be used to measure the profile of the linac beam of BEPCⅡ. This paper describes the prototype of this system and the cause of heat generating of the wire. Some simulation results of the heat and force by using finite element method software—ANSYS®,2) are presented and discussed.  相似文献

In the Phase Ⅱ Project at the Hefei Light Source, a fourth-harmonic "Landau" cavity will be operated in order to suppress the coupled-bunch instabilities and increase the beam lifetime of the Hefei storage ring. Instabilities limit the utility of the higher-harmonic cavity when the storage ring is operated with a small momentum compaction. Analytical modeling and simulations show that the instabilities result from Robinson mode coupling. In the analytic modeling, we operate an algorithm to consider the Robinson instabilities. To study the evolution of unstable behavior, simulations have been performed in which macroparticles are distributed among the buckets. Both the analytic modeling and simulations agree for passive operation of the harmonic cavity.  相似文献

A Medium Energy Beam Transport line 1(MEBT1) has been designed for Injector Scheme II of the China ADS project. To match the beam from RFQ to Superconducting(SC) Half Wave Resonator(HWR) sections with emittance preservation, the MEBT1 has been designed to be mechanically compact. Working at 162.5 MHz,the MEBT1 transports a 10 m A, 2.1 Me V proton beam using seven quadrupoles and two bunching cavities within2.7 meters. Three collimators are placed between every two adjacent quadrupoles to collimate the beam halo. Design and construction of the MEBT1 are presented in this paper.  相似文献

For the HLS-Ⅱ bunch current measurement system, in order to obtain the absolute value of bunch current, the calibration factor should be determined by using DCCT. At the HLS storage ring, the stretch effect of bunch length is observed and the change rate is about 19% when the bunch current decays over time and this will affect the performance of bunch current detection. To overcome the bunch stretch influence in the HLS-Ⅱ bunch current measurement, an evaluation about pickup type and signal processing is carried out. Strip-line pickup and button pickup are selectable, and the theoretical analysis and demonstration experiment are performed to find out an acceptable solution for the bunch current measurement system at HLS-Ⅱ. The experimental data analysis shows that the normalized calibration factor will change by about 27% when the bunch length changes by about 19% if using the button pickup and processing by peak value of bunch signal; the influence will be reduced to 2% less if adopting the strip-line pickup and integral.  相似文献

In this paper, the synchronization of the fractional-order generalized augmented Lu¨ system is investigated. Based on the predictor–corrector method, we obtain phase portraits, bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponent spectra, and Poincare′maps of the fractional-order system and find that a four-wing chaotic attractor exists in the system when the system parameters change within certain ranges. Further, by varying the system parameters, rich dynamical behaviors occur in the2.7-order system. According to the stability theory of a fractional-order linear system, and adopting the linearization by feedback method, we have designed a nonlinear feedback controller in our theoretical analysis to implement the synchronization of the drive system with the response system. In addition, the synchronization is also shown by an electronic circuit implementation for the 2.7-order system. The obtained experiment results accord with the theoretical analyses, which further demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed synchronization scheme.  相似文献
