For an orbifold X and αH3(X,Z), we introduce the twisted cohomology and prove that the non-commutative Chern character of Connes-Karoubi establishes an isomorphism between the twisted K-groups and the twisted cohomology . This theorem, on the one hand, generalizes a classical result of Baum-Connes, Brylinski-Nistor, and others, that if X is an orbifold then the Chern character establishes an isomorphism between the K-groups of X tensored with C, and the compactly-supported cohomology of the inertia orbifold. On the other hand, it also generalizes a recent result of Adem-Ruan regarding the Chern character isomorphism of twisted orbifold K-theory when the orbifold is a global quotient by a finite group and the twist is a special torsion class, as well as Mathai-Stevenson's theorem regarding the Chern character isomorphism of twisted K-theory of a compact manifold.  相似文献

We construct a polarized Hodge structure on the primitive part of Chen and Ruan's orbifold cohomology for projective -orbifolds satisfying a ``Hard Lefschetz Condition'. Furthermore, the total cohomology forms a mixed Hodge structure that is polarized by every element of the Kähler cone of . Using results of Cattani-Kaplan-Schmid this implies the existence of an abstract polarized variation of Hodge structure on the complexified Kähler cone of .

This construction should be considered as the analogue of the abstract polarized variation of Hodge structure that can be attached to the singular cohomology of a crepant resolution of , in light of the conjectural correspondence between the (quantum) orbifold cohomology and the (quantum) cohomology of a crepant resolution.

Mathieu (Math. Helv. 70 (1995) 1) introduced a canonic filtration in the de Rham cohomology of a symplectic manifold and proved, that the middle filtration space is the space of harmonic cohomology classes. We give an interpretation of the other filtration spaces, prove a Künneth theorem for harmonic cohomology, prove Poincaré duality for harmonic cohomology and show how surjectivity of certain Lefschetz type mappings is related to properties of the filtration. For a closed symplectic manifold M we also introduce symplectic invariants , and show if M is of dimension 2n with n even.  相似文献

In this paper, we give a natural construction of mixed Tate motives whose periods are a class of iterated integrals which include the multiple polylogarithm functions. Given such an iterated integral, we construct two divisors A and B in the moduli spaces of n-pointed stable curves of genus 0, and prove that the cohomology of the pair is a framed mixed Tate motive whose period is that integral. It generalizes the results of A. Goncharov and Yu. Manin for multiple ζ-values. Then we apply our construction to the dilogarithm and calculate the period matrix which turns out to be same with the canonical one of Deligne.  相似文献

We study the orbits of G=GL(V) in the enhanced nilpotent cone , where is the variety of nilpotent endomorphisms of V. These orbits are parametrized by bipartitions of n=dimV, and we prove that the closure ordering corresponds to a natural partial order on bipartitions. Moreover, we prove that the local intersection cohomology of the orbit closures is given by certain bipartition analogues of Kostka polynomials, defined by Shoji. Finally, we make a connection with Kato's exotic nilpotent cone in type C, proving that the closure ordering is the same, and conjecturing that the intersection cohomology is the same but with degrees doubled.  相似文献

By analogy with the join in topology, the join A*B for operator algebras A and B acting on Hilbert spaces H and K, respectively, was defined by Gilfeather and Smith (Amer. J. Math. 116 (1994) 541-561). Assuming that K is finite dimensional, they calculated the Hochschild cohomology groups for A*B with coefficients in L(KH). We assume that A is a maximal abelian von Neumann algebra acting on H, A is a subalgebra of , and B is an ultraweakly closed subalgebra of Mn(A) containing A⊗1n. We show that B may be decomposed into a finite sum of free modules. In this context, we redefine the join of A and B, generalize the calculations of Gilfeather and Smith, and calculate , for all m?0.  相似文献

We establish some identities or estimates for the operator norms and Hausdorff measures of noncompactness of linear operators given by infinite matrices that map the matrix domains of triangles in arbitrary BK spaces with AK, or in the spaces of all convergent or bounded sequences, into the spaces of all null, convergent or bounded sequences, or of all absolutely convergent series. Furthermore, we apply these results to the characterizations of compact operators on the matrix domains of triangles in the classical sequence spaces, and on the sequence spaces studied in [I. Robertson, Power integral bases in prime-power cyclotomic fields, J. Number Theory 120 (2006) 372-384] I. Gaál and L. Robertson show that if , where is the class number of , then if αOq is a generator of Oq (in other words Z[α]=Oq) either α is equals to a conjugate of an integer translate of ζq or is an odd integer. In this paper we show that we can remove the hypothesis over . For a commutative noetherian ring R with residue field k stable cohomology modules have been defined for each nZ, but their meaning has remained elusive. It is proved that the k-rank of any characterizes important properties of R, such as being regular, complete intersection, or Gorenstein. These numerical characterizations are based on results concerning the structure of Z-graded k-algebra carried by stable cohomology. It is shown that in many cases it is determined by absolute cohomology through a canonical homomorphism of algebras . Some techniques developed in the paper are applicable to the study of stable cohomology functors over general associative rings.  相似文献

Let be a smooth family of canonically polarized complex varieties over a smooth base. Generalizing the classical Shafarevich hyperbolicity conjecture, Viehweg conjectured that Y is necessarily of log general type if the family has maximal variation. A somewhat stronger and more precise version of Viehweg's conjecture was shown by the authors in [S. Kebekus, S.J. Let X° be the space of all labeled tetrahedra in P3. In [E. Babson, P.E. Gunnells, R. Scott, A smooth space of tetrahedra, Adv. Math. 165(2) (2002) 285-312] we constructed a smooth symmetric compactification of X°.
