Synthesis and properties of thiazole halohydrazones. 1. Synthesis and interaction of 2-α-chlorobenzylidenehydrazino-4-ethoxycar-bonyl-thiazole with triethylamine in the presence of dipolarophiles

In the interaction of 2--chlorobenzylidenehydrazino-4-ethoxycarbonylthiazole with triethylamine, a nitrilimine is formed as an intermediate that does not react with dipolarophiles, but rather undergoes intramolecular 1, 5-dipolar cyclization to form 3-phenyl-5-ethoxycarbonylthiazolo[2,3-c]-1,2,4-ttiazole.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 2, 253–255, February, 1994. Synthesis and Molecular Structure of 4-Chloromethyl-3-anilino-2-（4- methylbenzoylimido）thiazole

The title compound 2, 4-chloromethyl-3-anilino-2-（4-methyl-benzoylimido）thiazole, was prepared by the reaction of 1-p-methylbenzoyl-3-phenylaminothiourea 1 with 1,3-dichloro- acetone. The crystal is of monoclinic, space group P21/c, with a = 8.1712（15）, b = 10.998（2）, c = 19.134（4）A, β= 94.610（5）°, C18H16ClN3OS, Mr = 357.85, Z = 4, V = 1714.0（6）A^3, De= 1.387 g/cm^3, μ（MoKa） = 0.354 mm^-1, F（000） = 744, the final R = 0.0518 and wR = 0.1167 for 3189 observed reflections （I〉 2σ（I）. Its formation mechanism was proposed.     

Synthesis and dyeing properties of some new monoazo disperse dyes derived from 2-amino-4-(2′,4′-dichlorophenyl)-1,3 thiazole

Ten new monoazo disperse dyes (4a–j) have been synthesized by coupling of diazotized 2-amino-4-(2′,4′-dichlorophenyl)-1,3 thiazole (2) with various N-alkyl derivatives of substituted aniline (3a–j) and their dyeing performance on polyester fiber has been assessed. These dyes are characterized by elemental analysis, UV–vis spectra, IR and NMR spectroscopy. The absorption maxima (λ_max) were recorded in DMF and were found to be in the range of 530–600 nm. The dyed polyester fabric showed fair to very good light fastness and very good to excellent washing and rubbing fastness properties with superior depth and levelness.

Synthesis and mesomorphic properties of 2-(4′-alkoxybiphenyl-4-yl)-1H-benzimidazole derivatives

Three series of 2-(4′-alkoxybiphenyl-4-yl)-1H-benzimidazole derivatives (nM-x), which possessed 5-nitrobenzimidazole (nM-N series), benzimidazole (nM-H series) or 5-methylbenzimidazole (nM-M series) units at the end of the molecule, were synthesised and characterised by infrared, ¹H- and ¹³C-nuclear magnetic resonance spectra, electrospray ionisation-mass spectrometry and elemental analysis. Their phase transition behaviour was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry, polarising optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction. All the compounds exhibited enantiotropic smectic mesophases with wide temperature domains for a carbon number in the alkoxy chain from 6 to 16, where the mesophase ranges were 14–91°C and 17–99°C during heating and cooling processes for the nM-N compounds, 7–25°C and 8–49°C for the nM-H compounds and 48–81°C and 52–85°C for the nM-M compounds, respectively. The effect of the length of alkoxy chain on mesomorphic properties was discussed. The nM-N and nM-M exhibited a much wider mesophase range whether during heating or cooling process than the corresponding nM-H series, especially for the longer terminal chain (n > 8), which indicated that the substituent in the benzimidazole moiety was helpful in increasing the mesophase stability.     

Synthesis and light-emitting properties of 2-(N-phenyl-α-naphthylamino) and 2-dimesitylboron-7-(N-phenyl-α-naphthylamino)-9,9-diethylfluorene

A fluorescent organic triarylamine with a symmetric structure, 2,7-bis(N-α-naphthyl-phenylamino)-9,9- diethylfluorene (NPAEF) was synthesized using two methods, modified Ullmann coupling and modified palladium-catalyzed amination. An activated copper and a combination of Pd(OAc)2/P(t-Bu)3 and Pd(dba)2/P(t-Bu)3 were selected as catalysts to improve yields of reactions. These synthetic procedures were also successfully applied to an asymmetric 2-dimesitylboron-7-(N-phenyl-α-naphthylamino)-9,9-diethylfluorene ...

Synthesis and some chemical properties of piperidine-4-spiro-2′-oxiranes

The reaction of 5e-aryl-3-hydroxy-3-methylpiperidin-4-ones with diazomethane yielded piperidine-4-spiro-2-oxiranes. It was shown that the reaction takes place stereospecifically with formation of 4a-O-spiroepoxides. Interaction of aminoquinolines with unsaturated carboxylic acids. 1. Synthesis of N-quinolyl-β-alanines and their biological activity

N-Quinolyl--alanines, and -methyl- and-methyl-N-quinolyl--alanines were prepared by reaction of aminoquinolines and acrylic, methacrylic, and crotonic acids. The corresponding hydrazides and benzylidenehydrazides were obtained. 4-Aminoquinoline with unsaturated acids in water gave betaines. Synthesis and reduction of 9-(α-nitrophenacylidene)-4-azafluorene

Reaction of 9-phenacylidene-4-azafluorene with acetyl nitrate produces a mixture of geometric isomers of 9-(-nitrophenacylidene)-4-azafluorene. The nitro group splits off upon reduction of the product in the system zinc-ammonia and zinc-acetic acid and on Raney nickel. Synthesis and mesomorphic properties of 4-(4-bromopropyloxy)-4’-(4-alkyloxybenzylidene)anilines

This article describes the preparation and liquid crystalline properties of a new homologous series of 4-（4-bromopropyloxy）-4’- （4-alkyloxybenzylidene）anilines in which the phenyl ring is armed by a bromopropyloxy chain.The thermal behavior and mesomorphic properties of the synthesized compounds were studied with particular attention given to the correlation between their phase transition temperatures and anisotropic change influenced by molecular structure.All the members displayed enantiotropic smectic phase except for the homologue with the longest alkyloxy chain(R = C₁₈H₃₇),exhibiting only monotropic characteristic. The presence of bromine atom from the propyloxy side chain is found to be capable of altering and influencing the mesomorphic properties.

Synthesis of 16,17-epoxy-20-isoxazolylsteroids was carried out starting with dehydropregnenolone acetate. Transformation procedures for preparation therefrom of open-chain compounds were considered. Physico-chemical characteristics of compounds synthesized were investigated.     

Two-fragment α-adrenolytics. 4. Synthesis of phosphorylated derivatives of 2-aryloxyethylamines and N-phenylpiperazine

The reactions of 3-chloropropylphosphonates, 3-chloropropylthiophosphonates, or 3-chloropropylphosphinates with 2-aryloxyethylamines or N-phenylpiperazine afford the corresponding 3-(2-aryloxyethylamino)propylphosphonates and -phosphinates or 3-(4-phenylpiperazin-1-yl)propylphosphonates and -phosphinates. The compounds obtained exhibit -adrenolytic and hypotensive activities, the latter being found to depend on the substituents at the P atom.     

Synthesis and ozonization of (+)-4α-(1-trimethylsilyloxyethen-1-yl)-2-carene

Synthesis and properties of p-per fluoroalkylcalix [4]arenes

p-Perfluoroalkylealix[4]arenes were prepared readily from the reaction of calix-[4]arene with perfluoroalkyl iodides in the presence of sodium dithionite or sodium hydroxy-methanesulfinate under mild conditions,These fluorine-containing calixarenes showed bettersolubilities in common organic solvents as compared to their nonperfluoroalkylation analogand formed inclusion complexes with many neutral molecules as well as fluorocarbons.
