In this paper, we propose a combined regression estimator by using a parametric estimator and a nonparametric estimator of the regression function. The asymptotic distribution of this estimator is obtained for cases where the parametric regression model is correct, incorrect, and approximately correct. These distributional results imply that the combined estimator is superior to the kernel estimator in the sense that it can never do worse than the kernel estimator in terms of convergence rate and it has the same convergence rate as the parametric estimator in the case where the parametric model is correct. Unlike the parametric estimator, the combined estimator is robust to model misspecification. In addition, we also establish the asymptotic distribution of the estimator of the weight given to the parametric estimator in constructing the combined estimator. This can be used to construct consistent tests for the parametric regression model used to form the combined estimator.  相似文献

本文提出方差分量ANOVA估计的一种改进方法, 证明了对于一般的方差分量模型, 只要方差分量的ANOVA估计存在就可以通过此方法给出其改进形式, 并且在均方误差意义下优于ANOVA估计. 特别地, 对于单向分类随机效应模型, Kelly和Mathew[1]对ANOVA估计的改进就是我们提出的改进方法的特殊形式, 这也给出了此类改进估计在均方误差意义下优于ANOVA估计的另一种合理的解释. 同时, 本文又将此思想应用到对谱分解估计的改进上. 本文应用协方差的简单性质证明了对带有一个随机效应的方差分量模型, 当随机效应的协方差阵只有一个非零特征值时, 随机效应方差分量谱分解估计在均方误差意义下总是优于ANOVA估计. 本文最后将第三节的结论推广到广义谱分解估计下, 同时给出广义谱分解估计待定系数的一个合理的取值.  相似文献

对于两个半相依回归系统的未知回归系数,本文首先借鉴文献中给出的两步协方差改进估计的方法给出两种两步协方差改进估计序列,并给出其与两步估计等价的条件和均方误差意义下的优良性; 其次,我们对文献中给出的一种两步估计作简单改进,使得改进后的估计在更大的参数空间内优于最小二乘估计. 再次,本文另辟蹊径, 构造了一种新的估计,同样地,此估计也具有更好的小样本性质.本文最后一节讨论了Pitman准则下两步估计的优良性.  相似文献

Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves are often used to study the two sample problem in medical studies. However, most data in medical studies are censored. Usually a natural estimator is based on the Kaplan-Meier estimator. In this paper we propose a smoothed estimator based on kernel techniques for the ROC curve with censored data. The large sample properties of the smoothed estimator are established. Moreover, deficiency is considered in order to compare the proposed smoothed estimator of the ROC curve with the empirical one based on Kaplan-Meier estimator. It is shown that the smoothed estimator outperforms the direct empirical estimator based on the Kaplan-Meier estimator under the criterion of deficiency. A simulation study is also conducted and a real data is analyzed.  相似文献

This article describes a local error estimator for Glimm's scheme for hyperbolic systems of conservation laws and uses it to replace the usual random choice in Glimm's scheme by an optimal choice. As a by-product of the local error estimator, the procedure provides a global error estimator that is shown numerically to be a very accurate estimate of the error in L1 (R) for all times. Although there is partial mathematical evidence for the error estimator proposed, at this stage the error estimator must be considered ad- hoc. Nonetheless, the error estimator is simple to compute, relatively inexpensive, without adjustable parameters and at least as accurate as other existing error estimators. Numerical experiments in 1-D for Burgers' equation and for Euler's system are performed to measure the asymptotic accuracy of the resulting scheme and of the error estimator.  相似文献

The conditional maximum likelihood estimator is suggested as an alternative to the maximum likelihood estimator and is favorable for an estimator of a dispersion parameter in the normal distribution, the inverse-Gaussian distribution, and so on. However, it is not clear whether the conditional maximum likelihood estimator is asymptotically efficient in general. Consider the case where it is asymptotically efficient and its asymptotic covariance depends only on an objective parameter in an exponential model. This remand implies that the exponential model possesses a certain parallel foliation. In this situation, this paper investigates asymptotic properties of the conditional maximum likelihood estimator and compares the conditional maximum likelihood estimator with the maximum likelihood estimator. We see that the bias of the former is more robust than that of the latter and that two estimators are very close, especially in the sense of bias-corrected version. The mean Pythagorean relation is also discussed.  相似文献

The usual estimator for the expectation of a function under the innovation distribution of a nonlinear autoregressive model is the empirical estimator based on estimated innovations. It can be improved by exploiting that the innovation distribution has mean zero. We show that the resulting estimator is efficient if the innovations are estimated with an efficient estimator for the autoregression parameter. Efficiency of this estimator is necessary except when the expectation of the function can be estimated adaptively. Analogous results hold for heteroscedastic models.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the general growth curve model with multivariate random effects covariance structure and provide a new simple estimator for the parameters of interest. This estimator is not only convenient for testing the hypothesis on the corresponding parameters, but also has higher efficiency than the least-square estimator and the improved two-stage estimator obtained by Rao under certain conditions. Moreover, we obtain the necessary and sufficient condition for the new estimator to be identical to the best linear unbiased estimator. Examples of its application are given.  相似文献

The customary estimator for the expectation of a bounded function under the residual distribution is the empirical estimator based on the estimated residuals. Patilea and Rolin (Ann Stat 34(2):925–938, 2006) proposed a product-limit estimator of the survival function for twice censored data. In this article, based on a modified self-consistent (MSC) approach, we propose an alternative estimator, the MSC estimator. The asymptotic properties of the MSC estimator are derived. A simulation study is conducted to compare the performance between the two estimators. Simulation results indicate that the MSC estimator outperforms the product-limit estimator and its advantage over the product-limit estimator can be very significant when right censoring is heavy.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new estimator for a kurtosis in a multivariate nonnormal linear regression model. Usually, an estimator is constructed from an arithmetic mean of the second power of the squared sample Mahalanobis distances between observations and their estimated values. The estimator gives an underestimation and has a large bias, even if the sample size is not small. We replace this squared distance with a transformed squared norm of the Studentized residual using a monotonic increasing function. Our proposed estimator is defined by an arithmetic mean of the second power of these squared transformed squared norms with a correction term and a tuning parameter. The correction term adjusts our estimator to an unbiased estimator under normality, and the tuning parameter controls the sizes of the squared norms of the residuals. The family of our estimators includes estimators based on ordinary least squares and predicted residuals. We verify that the bias of our new estimator is smaller than usual by constructing numerical experiments.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove large deviations principle for the Nadaraya-Watson estimator and for the semi-recursive kernel estimator of the regression in the multidimensional case. Under suitable conditions, we show that the rate function is a good rate function. We thus generalize the results already obtained in the one-dimensional case for the Nadaraya-Watson estimator. Moreover, we give a moderate deviations principle for these two estimators. It turns out that the rate function obtained in the moderate deviations principle for the semi-recursive estimator is larger than the one obtained for the Nadaraya-Watson estimator.   相似文献

In this paper we introduce the least-trimmed squares estimator for multivariate regression. We give three equivalent formulations of the estimator and obtain its breakdown point. A fast algorithm for its computation is proposed. We prove Fisher-consistency at the multivariate regression model with elliptically symmetric error distribution and derive the influence function. Simulations investigate the finite-sample efficiency and robustness of the estimator. To increase the efficiency of the estimator, we also consider a one-step reweighted estimator.  相似文献

A shrinkage estimator and a maximum likelihood estimator are proposed in this paper for combination of bioassays. The shrinkage estimator is obtained in closed form which incorporates prior information just on the common log relative potency after the homogeneity test for combination of bioassays is accepted. It is a practical improvement over other estimators which require iterative procedure to obtain the estimator for the relative potency. A real data is also used to show the superiorities for the newly-proposed procedures.  相似文献

The least squares (LS) estimator seems the natural estimator of the coefficients of a Gaussian linear regression model. However, if the dimension of the vector of coefficients is greater than 2 and the residuals are independent and identically distributed, this conventional estimator is not admissible. James and Stein [Estimation with quadratic loss, Proceedings of the Fourth Berkely Symposium vol. 1, 1961, pp. 361-379] proposed a shrinkage estimator (James-Stein estimator) which improves the least squares estimator with respect to the mean squares error loss function. In this paper, we investigate the mean squares error of the James-Stein (JS) estimator for the regression coefficients when the residuals are generated from a Gaussian stationary process. Then, sufficient conditions for the JS to improve the LS are given. It is important to know the influence of the dependence on the JS. Also numerical studies illuminate some interesting features of the improvement. The results have potential applications to economics, engineering, and natural sciences.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the a posteriori error estimator of SDG method for variable coefficients time-harmonic Maxwell's equations. We propose two a posteriori error estimators, one is the recovery-type estimator, and the other is the residual-type estimator. We first propose the curl-recovery method for the staggered discontinuous Galerkin method (SDGM), and based on the super-convergence result of the postprocessed solution, an asymptotically exact error estimator is constructed. The residual-type a posteriori error estimator is also proposed, and it's reliability and effectiveness are proved for variable coefficients time-harmonic Maxwell's equations. The efficiency and robustness of the proposed estimators is demonstrated by the numerical experiments.  相似文献

It is well known that the sample covariance is not an efficient estimator of the covariance of a bivariate normal vector. We extend this result to elliptical distributions and we propose a simple explicit estimator, which is efficient in the normal case and which outperforms the sample covariance in general. Necessary and sufficient conditions are established under which this estimator is in general efficient for an elliptical distribution.  相似文献
