The principle of universality is taken from statistical mechanics and applied to the reggeon field theory. Following a pedagogical review of the implications of universality for the reggeon calculus, a lattice formulation of the reggeon field theory is presented and discussed. Scaling laws for the thermodynamic quantities of such systems are described and relations among critical indices are derived. These relations enable high-energy scattering behaviour to be calculated using lattice methods.  相似文献

Witten's string field theory is quantized in the hamiltonian formalism. The constraints are solved and the hamiltonian is expressed in terms of only physical degrees of freedom. Thus, no Faddeev-Popov ghosts are introduced. Instead, the action contains terms of arbitrarily high order in the string functionals. Agreement with the standard results is demonstrated by an explicit calculation of the residues of the first few poles of the four-tachyon tree amplitude.  相似文献

Based on our previous work on the differential geometry for the closed string double field theory, we construct a Yang-Mills action which is covariant under O(D,D) T-duality rotation and invariant under three-types of gauge transformations: non-Abelian Yang-Mills, diffeomorphism and one-form gauge symmetries. In double field formulation, in a manifestly covariant manner our action couples a single O(D,D) vector potential to the closed string double field theory. In terms of undoubled component fields, it couples a usual Yang-Mills gauge field to an additional one-form field and also to the closed string background fields which consist of a dilaton, graviton and a two-form gauge field. Our resulting action resembles a twisted Yang-Mills action.  相似文献

The Krichever-Novikov (KN) global operator formalism is applied to construct a topological conformal field theory on a compact Riemann surface from an N=2 super-conformal field theory. The topological version of the KN algebra is derived and the BRST charge is shown to be genus-dependent in this formulation. This leads to an interesting cohomology structure for the physical subspace of the Hilbert space.  相似文献

An exact formulation of LSZ field theory is given. It is based on the Wightman axioms, asymptotic completeness, and a technical assumption stating the existence of retarded products of field operators. Reduction formulae are derived directly from the strong asymptotic condition. The GLZ-theorem, which states the conditions under which a given set of retarded functions defines a field theory, is formulated and proved in a rigorous way.  相似文献

A path integral expression for closed Nambu-Goto strings interacting by breaking and joining is shown to be pathological by using an equivalent euclidean lattice field theory. In many applications of conformal field theory one encounters twisted conformal fields, i.e. fields which have branch cut singularities on the relevant Riemann surfaces. We present a geometrical framework describing twisted conformal fields on Riemann surfaces of arbitrary genus which is alternative to the standard method of coverings. We further illustrate the theory of twisted Grassmannians and its relation with the representation theory of the twisted oscillator algebras. As an application of the above, we expound an operator formalism for orbifold strings.  相似文献

We show, in the euclidean path-integral formulation of strong-coupling lattice gauge theory, that continuous chiral symmetry is dynamically broken, and obtain the standard current algebra result that mpseudo-Goldstone2 ~ mquarkψψ〉. We also remark that the center of the gauge group does not seem very relevant for this result; chiral symmetry breaking is a property of strong-coupling lattice theories both in the case where quark color is confined, and also in the case where it is screened by gauge field fluctuations.  相似文献
