An embedding theorem for spaces of functions of positive smoothness defined on irregular domains of n-dimensional Euclidean space in Lebesgue spaces is proved. The statement of the theorem depends on the geometric parameters of the domains of the functions.  相似文献

We prove existence of the H p (D)-limit for iterations of the double layer potentials constructed from a Hodge parametrix on a smooth compact manifold X (here D is an open connected subset in X). The limit is the orthogonal projection of the Sobolev space H p (D) onto the closed subspace of H p (D)-solutions of some elliptic operator P of order p1. Using this result, we obtain a formula for Sobolev solutions to the equation Pu=f in D if such exist. Solutions are given in the form of series whose summands are iterations of the double layer potentials. We also construct a similar expansion for the Neumann P-problem in D.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the minimal energy problem on the sphere S d for Riesz potentials with external fields. Fundamental existence, uniqueness, and characterization results are derived about the associated equilibrium measure. The discrete problem and the corresponding weighted Fekete points are investigated. As an application we obtain the separation of the minimal s-energy points for d – 2 < s < d. In this paper we analyze a two-degree-of-freedom Hamiltonian system constructed from two planar Morse potentials. The resulting potential energy surface has two potential wells surrounded by an unbounded flat region containing no critical points. In addition, the model has an index one saddle between the potential wells. We study the dynamical mechanisms underlying transport between the two potential wells, with emphasis on the role of the flat region surrounding the wells. The model allows us to probe many of the features of the “roaming mechanism” whose reaction dynamics are of current interest in the chemistry community.  相似文献

Quantum ergodic restriction (QER) is the problem of finding conditions on a hypersurface H so that restrictions \({\phi_j |_H}\) to H of Δ-eigenfunctions of Riemannian manifolds (M, g) with ergodic geodesic flow are quantum ergodic on H. We prove two kinds of results: First (i) for any smooth hypersurface H in a piecewise-analytic Euclidean domain, the Cauchy data \({(\phi_j|H,\partial_{\nu}^H \phi_j|H)}\) is quantum ergodic if the Dirichlet and Neumann data are weighted appropriately. Secondly, (ii) we give conditions on H so that the Dirichlet (or Neumann) data is individually quantum ergodic. The condition involves the almost nowhere equality of left and right Poincaré maps for H. The proof involves two further novel results: (iii) a local Weyl law for boundary traces of eigenfunctions, and (iv) an ‘almost-orthogonality’ result for Fourier integral operators whose canonical relations almost nowhere commute with the geodesic flow.  相似文献

Bessel-type convolution algebras of measures on the matrix cones of positive semidefinite q×q-matrices over ?,?,? were introduced recently by Rösler. These convolutions depend on a continuous parameter, generate commutative hypergroups, and have Bessel functions of matrix argument as characters. In this paper, we study the algebraic structure of these hypergroups. In particular, the subhypergroups, quotients, and automorphisms are classified. The algebraic properties are partially related to the properties of random walks on these matrix Bessel hypergroups. In particular, known properties of Wishart distributions, which form Gaussian convolution semigroups on these hypergroups, are put into a new light. Moreover, limit theorems for random walks are presented. In particular, we obtain strong laws of large numbers and a central limit theorem with Wishart distributions as limits.  相似文献

In the context of Mackey functors we introduce a category whichis analogous to the category of modules for a quasi-hereditaryalgebra which have a filtration by standard objects. Many ofthe constructions which work for quasi-hereditary algebras canbe done in this new context. In particular, we construct ananalogue of the ‘Ringel dual’, which turns out hereto be a standardly stratified algebra. The Mackey functors whichplay the role of the standard objects are constructed in thesame way as functors which have been used previously in parametrizingthe simple Mackey functors, but instead of using simple modulesin their construction (as was done before) we use p-permutationmodules. These Mackey functors are obtained as adjoints of theoperations of forming the Brauer quotient and its dual. Thefiltrations which have these Mackey functors as their factorsare closely related to the filtrations whose terms are the sumof induction maps from specified subgroups, or are the commonkernel of restriction maps to these subgroups. We introduce the concept of a weakly G-quasiconvex map with respect to a map on generalized convex spaces and use the concept to prove coincidence point theorems and almost-like coincidence point theorems. As applications of the above results, we derive almost fixed point theorems and fixed point theorem. These main results generalize and improve some known results in the literature.  相似文献

We consider the Cahn-Hilliard equation on a manifold with conical singularities. We first show the existence of bounded imaginary powers for suitable closed extensions of the bilaplacian. Combining results and methods from singular analysis with a theorem of Clément and Li we then prove the short time solvability of the Cahn-Hilliard equation in Lp-Mellin-Sobolev spaces and obtain the asymptotics of the solution near the conical points. We deduce, in particular, that regularity is preserved on the smooth part of the manifold and singularities remain confined to the conical points. We finally show how the Allen-Cahn equation can be treated by simpler considerations. Again we obtain short time solvability and the behavior near the conical points.  相似文献

The paper studies quasi-interpolation by scaled shifts of a smooth and rapidly decaying function. The centers are images of a smooth mapping of the hZn-lattice in Rs, sn, and the scaling parameters are proportional to h. We show that for a large class of generating functions the quasi-interpolants provide high order approximations up to some prescribed accuracy. Although in general the approximants do not converge as h tends to zero, the remaining saturation error is negligible in numerical computations if a scalar parameter is suitably chosen. The lack of convergence is compensated for by a greater flexibility in the choice of generating functions used in numerical methods for solving operator equations.  相似文献

We deal with Morrey spaces on bounded domains \(\Omega \) obtained by different approaches. In particular, we consider three settings \(\mathcal {M}_{u,p}(\Omega )\), \(\mathbb {M}_{u,p}(\Omega )\) and \(\mathfrak {M}_{u,p}(\Omega )\), where \(0<p\le u<\infty \), commonly used in the literature, and study their connections and diversities. Moreover, we determine the growth envelopes \(\mathfrak {E}_{\mathsf {G}}(\mathcal {M}_{u,p}(\Omega ))\) as well as \(\mathfrak {E}_{\mathsf {G}}(\mathfrak {M}_{u,p}(\Omega ))\), and obtain some applications in terms of optimal embeddings. Surprisingly, it turns out that the interplay between p and u in the sense of whether \(\frac{n}{u}\ge \frac{1}{p}\) or \(\frac{n}{u} < \frac{1}{p}\) plays a decisive role when it comes to the behaviour of these spaces.  相似文献

We investigate the conjugacy of Morse functions on closed surfaces. By using cellular decompositions of surfaces, we formulate a criterion for the conjugacy of Morse functions. We establish a criterion for the conjugacy of mappings into a circle with nondegenerate critical points.  相似文献
