Spectral Theorem for Definitizable Normal Linear Operators on Krein Spaces

In the present note a spectral theorem for normal definitizable linear operators on Krein spaces is derived by developing a functional calculus \({\phi \mapsto \phi(N)}\) which is the proper analogue of \({\phi \mapsto \int \phi \, dE}\) in the Hilbert space situation. This paper is the first systematical study of definitizable normal operators on Krein spaces.     

Some Remarks on the Spectral Theory and Commutativity of Unbounded Normal Operators

In this paper we give a development of the spectral theory and commutativity properties of unbounded normal operators in the style of Kadison and Ringrose.     

Spectral Shorted Operators

If $$\mathcal{H}$$ is a Hilbert space, $$\mathcal{S}$$ is a closed subspace of $$\mathcal{H},$$ and A is a positive bounded linear operator on $$\mathcal{H},$$ the spectral shorted operator $$\rho \left( {\mathcal{S},\mathcal{A}} \right)$$ is defined as the infimum of the sequence $$\sum (\mathcal{S},A^n )^{1/n} ,$$ where denotes $$\sum \left( {\mathcal{S},B} \right)$$ the shorted operator of B to $$\mathcal{S}.$$ We characterize the left spectral resolution of $$\rho \left( {\mathcal{S},\mathcal{A}} \right)$$ and show several properties of this operator, particularly in the case that dim $${\mathcal{S} = 1.}$$ We use these results to generalize the concept of Kolmogorov complexity for the infinite dimensional case and for non invertible operators.

Spectral Analysis of Differential Operators with Involution and Operator Groups

We study the spectral properties of differential operators with involution of the following two types: operators with involution multiplying the potential and operators with involution multiplying the derivative. The similar operator method is used to obtain a refined asymptotics of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of such operators. These asymptotics are used to derive asymptotic formulas for the operator groups generated by the operators in question. These operator groups can be used to describe mild solutions of the corresponding mixed problems.     

Asymptotically Spectral Periodic Differential Operators

In this paper, we investigate spectral expansion for the asymptotically spectral differential operators generated in L₂^m (?∞,∞) by ordinary differential expressions of arbitrary order with periodic matrix-valued coefficients.     

Spectral Components of Operators with Spectrum on a Curve

Trace class perturbations of normal operators with spectrum on a curve and spectral components of such operators are studied. We establish duality relations for the spectral components of an operator and its adjoint. The generalized Sz.-Nagy–Foia–Naboko functional model introduced in the paper is a basic tool for this theorem. The results have applications in nonself-adjoint scattering theory and to extreme factorizations of J-contraction-valued functions (J-inner-outer and A-regular-singular factorizations).     

Factorisation of Non-negative Fredholm Operators and Inverse Spectral Problems for Bessel Operators

We study the problem of factorisation of non-negative Fredholm operators acting in the Hilbert space L₂(0, 1) and its relation to the inverse spectral problem for Bessel operators. In particular, we derive an algorithm of reconstructing the singular potential of the Bessel operator from its spectrum and the sequence of norming constants.     

Spectral Radius of Refinement and Subdivision Operators with Power Diagonal Dilations

Two types of estimate for the spectral radius of the multivariate refinement operator with power diagonal dilations are presented. One type contains multiplicator norm of number matrices generated by the symbol of the corresponding operator and by specific subsets of repeating fractions. These subsets are used together with the little Fermat theorem to establish estimates that comprise integrals over tori of various dimensions. Moreover, we note certain classes of symbols when the exact value of the spectral radius of refinement operator can be found.
