Fluoroalcohols show competitive formation of intra‐ and intermolecular hydrogen bonds, a property that may be crucial for the protein‐altering process in a fluoroalcohol/water solution. In this study, we examine the intra‐ and intermolecular interactions of 2‐fluoroethanol (FE) in its dimeric conformers by using rotational spectroscopy and ab initio calculations. Three pairs of homo‐ and heterochiral dimeric FE conformers are predicted to be local minima at the MP2/6‐311++G(d,p) level of theory. They are solely made of the slightly distorted most stable G+g?/G?g+ FE monomer units. Jet‐cooled rotational spectra of four out of the six predicted dimeric conformers were observed and unambiguously assigned for the first time. All four observed dimeric conformers have compact geometries in which the fluoromethyl group of the acceptor tilts towards the donor and ensures a large contact area. Experimentally, the insertion of the O? H group of one FE subunit into the intramolecular O? H???F bond of the other was found to lead to a higher stabilisation than the pure association through an intermolecular O? H???O? H link. The hetero‐ and homochiral combinations were observed to be preferred in the inserted and the associated dimeric conformers, respectively. The experimental rotational constants and the stability ordering are compared with the ab initio calculations at the MP2 level with the 6‐311++G(d,p) and aug‐cc‐pVTZ basis sets. The effects of fluorination and the competing inter‐ and intramolecular hydrogen bonds on the stability of the dimeric FE conformers are discussed.  相似文献

4‐Fluorinated levoglucosans were synthesised to test if OH???F H‐bonds are feasible even when the O???F distance is increased. The fluorinated 1,6‐anhydro‐β‐D ‐glucopyranoses were synthesised from 1,6 : 3,4‐dianhydro‐β‐D ‐galactopyranose ( 8 ). Treatment of 8 with KHF2 and KF gave 43% of 4‐deoxy‐4‐fluorolevoglucosan ( 9 ), which was transformed into the 3‐O‐protected derivatives 13 by silylation and 15 by silylation, acetylation, and desilylation. 4‐Deoxy‐4‐methyllevoglucosan ( 19 ) and 4‐deoxylevoglucosan ( 21 ) were prepared as reference compounds that can only form a bivalent H‐bond from HO? C(2) to O? C(5). They were synthesised from the iPr3Si‐protected derivative of 8 . Intramolecular bifurcated H‐bonds from HO? C(2) to F? C(4) and O? C(5) of the 4‐fluorinated levoglucosans in CDCl3 solution are evidenced by the 1H‐NMR scalar couplings h1J(F,OH) and 3J(H,OH). The OH???F H‐bond over an O???F distance of ca. 3.0 Å is thus formed in apolar solvents, at least when favoured by the simultaneous formation of an OH???O H‐bond.  相似文献

The rotational spectrum of formamide2–H2O formed in a supersonic jet has been characterized by Fourier‐transform microwave spectroscopy. This adduct provides a simple model of water‐mediated interaction involving the amide linkages, as occur in protein folding or amide‐association processes, showing the interplay between self‐association and solvation. Mono‐substituted 13C, 15N, 18O, and 2H isotopologues have been observed and their data used to investigate the structure. The adduct forms an almost planar three‐body sequential cycle. The two formamide molecules link on one side through an N?H???O hydrogen bond and on the other side through a water‐mediated interaction with the formation of C=O???H?O and O???H?N hydrogen bonds. The analysis of the quadrupole coupling effects of two 14N‐nuclei reveals the subtle inductive forces associated to cooperative hydrogen bonding. These forces are involved in the changes in the C=O and C?N bond lengths with respect to pure formamide.  相似文献

An efficient one‐pot synthesis of 3‐[(4,5‐dihydro‐1H‐pyrrol‐3‐yl)carbonyl]‐2H‐chromen‐2‐one (=3‐[(4,5‐dihydro‐1H‐pyrrol‐3yl)carbonyl]‐2H‐1‐benzopyran‐2‐one) derivatives 4 by a four‐component reaction of a salicylaldehyde 1 , 4‐hydroxy‐6‐methyl‐2H‐pyran‐2‐one, a benzylamine 2 , and a diaroylacetylene (=1,4‐diarylbut‐2‐yne‐1,4‐dione) 3 in EtOH is reported. This new protocol has the advantages of high yields (Table), and convenient operation. The structures of these coumarin (=2H‐1‐benzopyran‐2‐one) derivatives, which are important compounds in organic chemistry, were confirmed spectroscopically (IR, 1H‐ and 13C‐NMR, and EI‐MS) and by elemental analyses. Substituted 2‐(benzylamino)‐2H‐1,4‐benzoxazin‐3(4H)‐ones are unstable under alkaline and acidic conditions, undergoing opening of the benzoxazinone ring. 2‐Bromo‐2H‐1,4‐benzoxazin‐3(4H)‐ones show similar degradation under alkaline conditions, while replacement of Br at C(2) to give 2‐hydroxy‐2H‐1,4‐benzoxazin‐3(4H)‐ones was observed only under mild alkaline conditions. Mechanisms of ring opening and degradation to 2‐aminophenol derivatives are proposed.  相似文献

The performance of DFT to reproduce noncovalent interactions like H‐bonds was assessed. Three DFT hybrid functionals (B3LYP, BHandHLYP from Jaguar5.5, and BHandHLYP from G03) were used to calculate the interaction energies and H‐bond distances of several host–guest complexes theoretically designed. Two reference systems (whose experimental data were available) were also calculated at the same levels of theory. In all the cases B3LYP and BHandHLYP from G03 gave rather the same results of interaction energy and distances, whereas the functional BHandHLYP from Jaguar5.5 overestimated the interaction energies and underestimated the H‐bond distances. Considering the construction of each functional, the terms responsible for such differences are the gradient correction to the exchange functional (Becke88) and the correlation functional (VWN, LYP) and not the Hartree–Fock contribution. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Bonded or not bonded? An ab initio valence bond study of [1.1.1]propellane shows that the two bridgehead carbons are linked by a strong and direct σ bond that is neither classically covalent nor classically ionic, but rather a charge‐shift bond, in which the covalent–ionic resonance energy plays the major role. As such, the central bond of [1.1.1]propellane closely resembles the single bond of difluorine.

The H‐bond activation mechanism and enantioselectivity of hydroxyl‐thiourea catalyst in conjugate amine addition of O‐benzyl hydroxylamine to pyrazole crotonate is investigated using density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Two competing activation models are explored in detail. C? N bond formation is stepwise in both of the two models. The enantioselective (S)‐channel is more favorable than (R)‐channel via the calculated barriers. The enantioselectivity originated from si face preferable than re face can be attributed to the H‐bonded network provided by thiourea and hydroxyl groups in rate‐determining step. The effects of fluorination on the conformational landscape of adrenergic neurotransmitters is exemplified trough the conformation analysis of 2‐(2‐F‐phenyl)ethanamine (2FPEA) carried out by microwave spectroscopy and quantum chemical calculations. Five different conformers of the nine possible stable ones for 2FPEA are observed by molecular‐beam Fourier‐transform microwave spectroscopy. Their unambiguous identification is possible by comparing the experimental rotational constants and the quadrupole coupling constants with those obtained by quantum chemical calculations carried out at the MP2/6‐311++G(d,p) level of theory. The relative abundances of the conformers in the jet are estimated from the relative intensities in the observed spectra. A qualitative agreement between experimental and theoretical energies was found, and the remaining deviations are explained by population transfer taking place during the adiabatic expansion. The energy landscape, which also takes the interconversion barriers between the conformers into consideration, is thus characterized completely by the strong interplay of quantum chemical methods and precise experimental data. Significant changes in energy and structure of the 2FPEA conformers are found compared to those obtained for the prototype molecule 2‐phenylethanamine (PEA).  相似文献

Hydrogen bonds (H bonds) play a major role in defining the structure and properties of many substances, as well as phenomena and processes. Traditional H bonds are ubiquitous in nature, yet the demonstration of weak H bonds that occur between a highly polarized C?H group and an electron‐rich oxygen atom, has proven elusive. Detailed here are linear and nonlinear IR spectroscopy experiments that reveal the presence of H bonds between the chloroform C?H group and an amide carbonyl oxygen atom in solution at room temperature. Evidence is provided for an amide solvation shell featuring two clearly distinguishable chloroform arrangements that undergo chemical exchange with a time scale of about 2 ps. Furthermore, the enthalpy of breaking the hydrogen bond is found to be 6–20 kJ mol?1. Ab‐initio computations support the findings of two distinct solvation shells formed by three chloroform molecules, where one thermally undergoes hydrogen‐bond making and breaking.  相似文献

The synthesis of compound 2 and its derivatives 6 and 8 combining a pyrrolidine ring with an 1H‐pyrrole unit is described (Scheme 2). Their attempted usability as organocatalysts was not successful. Reacting these simple pyrrolidine derivatives with cinnamaldehyde led to the tricyclic products 3b, 9b , and 10b first (Scheme 1, Fig. 2). The final, major products were the pyrrolo‐indolizidine tricycles 3a, 9a , and 10a obtained via the iminium ion reacting intramolecularly with the nucleophilic β‐position of the 1H‐pyrrole moiety (cf.
