The Formax high-throughput platform is capable of rapidly mapping out the formulation and process parameters required to produce an array of emulsions with a range of particle sizes. The specific emulsion in this instance is a stable emulsion with a small droplet size, preferably submicron. Using a combination of design of experimental software and high-throughput experimentation, the factors required to produce the emulsion with smallest droplet size were identified. Additionally, this work produced a template which allows the quick and efficient mapping of process and formulation space to determine for new systems which variables have the greatest impact upon the emulsion produced. Drug repurposing is an emerging strategy, which uses already approved drugs for new medical indications. One such drug is gemcitabine, an anticancer drug that only works at high doses since a portion is deactivated in the serum, which causes toxicity. In this review, two methods were discussed that could improve the anticancer effect of gemcitabine. The first is a chemical modification by conjugation with cell-penetrating peptides, namely penetratin, pVEC, and different kinds of CPP6, which mostly all showed an increased anticancer effect. The other method is combining gemcitabine with repurposed drugs, namely itraconazole, which also showed great cancer cell inhibition growth. Besides these two strategies, physiologically based pharmacokinetic models (PBPK models) are also the key for predicting drug distribution based on physiological data, which is very important for personalized medicine, so that the correct drug and dosage regimen can be administered according to each patient’s physiology. Taking all of this into consideration, it is believed that gemcitabine can be repurposed to have better anticancer effects.  相似文献

Current synthetic pathways for uranyl peroxide materials introduce high initial concentrations of aqueous H2O2 that decline over time. Alternatively, in situ generation of organic peroxide would maintain constant concentrations of peroxide over prolonged periods of time and open new pathways to novel uranyl peroxide compounds. Herein, we demonstrate this concept through the synthesis of a nanotube‐like uranyl peroxide phosphate ( NUPP ), Na12[(UO2)(μ‐O2)(HPO4)]6(H2O)40, making use of the inhibited autoxidation of benzaldehyde in benzyl alcohol solutions in the presence of phosphonate ligands. The unique feature of NUPP is the bent dihedral angle U‐(μ‐O2)‐U (123.9°±0.4° to 124.6°±0.5°), which allows hexameric uranyl peroxide macrocycles to adopt the nanotubular topology and prevents the formation of nanocapsules. Raman spectroscopy of the solution phase confirms our mechanistic understanding of the reaction pathway and confirms that consistent levels of peroxide are generated in situ over an extended period of time.  相似文献

This work evaluated the efficacy of pomegranate byproducts, specifically peel powder, as valid preservatives for food quality. Ready-to-cook cod sticks breaded with pomegranate peel powder were prepared. Shelf-life tests were conducted on breaded cod sticks during refrigerated storage (17 days) at 4 °C, monitoring the pH, microbiological and sensory quality. In addition, the nutritional quality of both the breaded and control samples was assessed. The results highlighted that active samples showed higher phenol and flavonoid content and higher antioxidant activity compared to the control fish, suggesting that pomegranate peel powder was responsible for a significant increase in cod stick nutritional quality. Furthermore, the cod stick active breading led to a delay in microbial growth without affecting the sensory properties; rather, it helped slow down the sensory attribute decline during the refrigerated storage. The data suggest that using pomegranate byproducts in breaded cod stick was effective in prolonging its shelf life, as well as improving its nutritional quality. Therefore, pomegranate peel powder can be considered as a potential resource as natural food preservative.  相似文献

A facile method was developed for the detection of Brilliant Blue FCF (BB FCF) (E133), a synthetic soluble colorant in common beverages. The method is based on a new composite of multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)-graphite oxide (GO)-room temperature ionic liquids (MWCNT/GO-RTIL) of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate with high dispersibility and strong conductivity. Differential pulse stripping voltammetry (DPSV) and the MWCNT/GO-RTIL composite-modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) were used to determine the BB FCF in this work. Under the optimum experimental conditions, the oxidation current of BB FCF was proportional to its concentration in two linear ranges, from 6.34 μg kg?1 to 7.93 × 102 μg kg?1 and 7.93 × 102 μg kg?1 to 7.93 × 103 μg kg?1.

The detection limit was down to 3.01 μg kg?1 at signal-to-noise ratio of 3. Also, this method has been successfully applied in the determination of BB FCF in common beverage samples, including RIO cocktail, Bacardi Breezer and Reinnbow rum dinks. The assay results of BB FCF in drink samples obtained by the proposed method were in a good agreement with the reference values detected by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The proposed method provided a useful tool for the assay of BB FCF in drink samples.  相似文献

Natural polymers have emerged as promising candidates for the sustainable development of materials in areas ranging from food packaging and biomedicine to energy storage and electronics. In tandem, there is a growing interest in the design of advanced materials devised from naturally abundant and renewable feedstocks, in alignment with the principles of Green Chemistry and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This review aims to highlight some examples of the research efforts conducted at the Research Team BioPol4fun, Innovation in BioPolymer-based Functional Materials and Bioactive Compounds, from the Portuguese Associate Laboratory CICECO–Aveiro Institute of Materials at the University of Aveiro, regarding the exploitation of natural polymers (and derivatives thereof) for the development of distinct sustainable biobased materials. In particular, focus will be given to the use of polysaccharides (cellulose, chitosan, pullulan, hyaluronic acid, fucoidan, alginate, and agar) and proteins (lysozyme and gelatin) for the assembly of composites, coatings, films, membranes, patches, nanosystems, and microneedles using environmentally friendly strategies, and to address their main domains of application.  相似文献
