Photoexcitation of trapped ions by Hermite–Gaussian (HG) modes from guided beam structures is proposed and investigated theoretically. In particular, simple analytical expressions for the matrix elements of induced atomic transitions are derived that depend both on the parameters of HG beams and on the geometry of an experiment. By using these general expressions, the 2 S 1 / 2 2 F 7 / 2 $^{2}S_{1/2} \rightarrow \; ^{2}F_{7/2}$ electric octupole (E3) transition is investigated in an Yb+ ion, localized in the low–intensity center of the HG10 and HG01 beams. It is shown how the corresponding Rabi frequency can be enhanced by properly choosing the polarization of incident light and the orientation of an external magnetic field, which defines the quantization axis of a target ion. The calculations, performed for experimentally feasible beam parameters, indicate that the achieved Rabi frequencies can be comparable or even higher than those observed for the conventional Laguerre–Gaussian (LG) modes. Since HG-like modes can be relatively straightforwardly generated with high purity and stability from integrated photonics, these results suggest that they may form a novel tool for investigating highly-forbidden atomic transitions.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to studying the thermodynamic formalism for suspension flows defined over countable alphabets. We are mostly interested in the regularity properties of the pressure function. We establish conditions for the pressure function to be real analytic or to exhibit a phase transition. The thermodynamical formalism is studied for renormalisable maps of the interval and the natural potential −t log | Df |. Multiple and indeed infinitely many phase transitions at positive t can occur for some quadratic maps. All unimodal quadratic maps with positive topological entropy exhibit a phase transition in the negative spectrum. Given a uniformly expanding map of two intervals we describe a large class of potentials admitting unique equilibrium measures. This class includes all Hölder continuous potentials but goes far beyond them. We also construct a family of continuous but not Hölder continuous potentials for which we observe phase transitions. We study the asymptotic expansion of the topological pressure of one–parameter families of potentials at a point of non-analyticity. We study the analyticity of the topological pressure for some one-parameter families of potentials on countable Markov shifts. We relate the non-analyticity of the pressure to changes in the recurrence properties of the system. We give sufficient conditions for such changes to exist and not to exist. We review developments in the field of phase ordering dynamics, viz., the evolution of a homogeneous multi-component mixture which has been rendered thermodynamically unstable by a rapid quench below the critical temperature. We discuss results for cases with both nonconserved and conserved order parameters. 采用磁化等离子体的分段线形电流密度卷积(Piecewise Linear Current Density Recursive Convolution,PLCDRC)时域有限差分(Finite-Different Time-Domain, FDTD)算法研究了一维时变磁化等离子体光子晶体的禁带特性。以高斯脉冲为激励源,用算法公式所得的电磁波透射系数来讨论了等离子体上升时间、密度、周期常数对其禁带特性的影响。结果表明,改变等离子体上升时间和密度可以实现对禁带的控制。  相似文献

Transfer learning seeks to improve the generalization performance of a target task by exploiting the knowledge learned from a related source task. Central questions include deciding what information one should transfer and when transfer can be beneficial. The latter question is related to the so-called negative transfer phenomenon, where the transferred source information actually reduces the generalization performance of the target task. This happens when the two tasks are sufficiently dissimilar. In this paper, we present a theoretical analysis of transfer learning by studying a pair of related perceptron learning tasks. Despite the simplicity of our model, it reproduces several key phenomena observed in practice. Specifically, our asymptotic analysis reveals a phase transition from negative transfer to positive transfer as the similarity of the two tasks moves past a well-defined threshold.  相似文献

The concept of the superdeformed shape is first introduced classically as the most stable configuration of a rapidly rotating deformable body and is then applied to nuclei. The shape of nuclei are determined by a competition between the collective energy of the core, to which classical considerations apply quite well, and the quantal energies of the valence nucleons, which may be evaluated by the Nilsson model. The result of this competition is that slowly rotating nuclei can be either oblate or prolate but rapidly rotating nuclei can have a superdeformed prolate shape, with a 2:1 ratio of axes particularly favoured.

The evidence for superdeformation in nuclei is described under four headings. Firstly, some light nuclei are superdeformed in their ground state or in an excited state. Secondly, some nuclei pass through a well defined superdeformed shape on the way to fission. Thirdly, studies of the excitation functions of elastic and inelastic scattering of identical heavy ions provide evidence of a nuclear molecule in a superdeformed shape. Finally, recent analyses of gamma rays from nuclei formed in a very high spin state by a heavy ion collision provide conclusive evidence for superdeformation.  相似文献

Bipartite entanglement, entanglement spectrum, and Schmidt gap in S=1 bond-alternative antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chain are investigated by the infinite time-evolving block decimation (iTEBD) method. The quantum phase transition (QPT) from the singlet-dimer phase to the Haldane phase can be detected by the singular behavior of bipartite entanglement, the sudden change of the entanglement spectrum, and the completely vanishing of the Schmidt gap. The critical point is determined to be around rc ~- 0.587, and the second-order character of the QPT is verified. Doubly degenerate entanglement spectra of both even and odd bonds are observed in the Haldane phase, by which one can distinguish the Haldane phase from the singlet-dimer phase easily. Nearest-neighbor antiferromagnetic correlations and next-nearest-neighbor ferromagnetic correlations are found in the whole parameter region. At the critical massless point, although exponentially decaying antiferromagnetie correlation is observed, it approaches to a constant value finally. Therefore, long-range correlations exist and the correlation length becomes divergent at the critical point.  相似文献

Understanding the physical significance and probing the global invariants characterizing quantum topological phases in extended systems is a main challenge in modern physics with major impact in different areas of science. Here, a quantum‐information‐inspired probing method is proposed where topological phase transitions are revealed by a non‐Markovianity quantifier. The idea is illustrated by considering the decoherence dynamics of an external read‐out qubit that probes a Su–Schrieffer–Heeger (SSH) chain with either pure dephasing or dissipative coupling. Qubit decoherence features and non‐Markovianity measure clearly signal the topological phase transition of the SSH chain.  相似文献

We prove, using the random-cluster model, a strict inequality between site percolation and magnetization in the region of phase transition for the d-dimensional Ising model, thus improving a result of [5]. We extend this result also at the case of two plane lattices (slabs) and give a characterization of phase transition in this case. The general case of N slabs, with N an arbitrary positive integer, is partially solved and it is used to show that this characterization holds in the case of three slabs with periodic boundary conditions. We consider a discrete-time stochastic growth model on d-dimensional lattice. The growth model describes various interesting examples such as oriented site/bond percolation, directed polymers in random environment, time discretizations of binary contact path process and the voter model. We study the phase transition for the growth rate of the “total number of particles” in this framework. The main results are roughly as follows: If d≥3 and the system is “not too random”, then, with positive probability, the growth rate of the total number of particles is of the same order as its expectation. If on the other hand, d=1,2, or the system is “random enough”, then the growth rate is slower than its expectation. We also discuss the above phase transition for the dual processes and its connection to the structure of invariant measures for the model with proper normalization.
