This paper aims to investigate the free vibrational analysis of the generally doubly-curved shells of revolution made of functionally graded (FG) materials and constrained with different boundary conditions by means of an efficient, convenient and explicit method based on the Haar wavelet discretization approach. The FG materials of the shell consist of a combination of ceramic and metal, which four parameter power-law distribution functions have chosen for modeling of the smoothly and gradually variation of the material properties in the thickness direction. The theoretical model of the shell is formulated by employing of the first-order shear deformation theory. The rotation and displacement components of each point of the shell are expanded in the form of product of the Haar wavelet series in meridional direction as well as trigonometric series in the circumferential direction. By adding the boundary condition equations to the main system of equations, the constants appeared from the integrating of the Haar wavelet series are satisfied. In addition, with solving the characteristic equation, the vibrational results including the natural frequencies and the corresponding mode shapes are achieved. Then, the present results have been compared with those available in the literature. The results indicate that this method has high accuracy, high reliability and also a higher convergence rate in attaining the frequencies of the FG doubly-curved shells of revolution. Also, the effects of the main parameters such as power-law exponent, geometrical parameters, material distribution profiles and different types of boundary conditions, on the vibrational behavior of the FG doubly-curved shells of revolution, are investigated. Finally, taking into account the effects of geometrical parameters and material distribution profiles, for FG doubly-curved shells of revolution with different boundary conditions such as classic, elastic restraints and their combination, a variety of new frequency studies are provided which can be considered as proof results for further researches in this field.  相似文献

The nonlinear vibration responses of functionally graded materials (FGMs) shells with different cone angles under external loads were studied. Firstly, the Voigt model was employed to describe the physical properties along the thickness direction of FGMs conical shells. Then, the motion equations were derived based on the 1st-order shear deformation theory, the von Kármán geometric nonlinearity and Hamilton’s principle. Next, the Galerkin method was applied to discretize the motion equations and the governing equations were simplified into a 1DOF nonlinear vibration differential equation under Volmir’s assumption. Finally, the nonlinear motion equations were solved with the harmonic balance method and the Runge-Kutta method, and the amplitude frequency response characteristic curves of the FGMs conical shells were obtained. The effects of different material distribution functions and different ceramic volume fraction exponents on the amplitude frequency response curves of conical shells were discussed. The bifurcation diagrams of conical shells with different cone angles, as well as time process diagrams and phase diagrams for different excitation amplitudes, were described. The motion characteristics were characterized by Poincaré maps. The results show that, the FGMs conical shells present the nonlinear characteristics of hardening springs. The chaotic motions of the FGMs conical shells are restrained and not prone to motion instability with the increase of the cone angle. The FGMs conical shell present a process from the periodic motion to the multi-periodic motion and then to chaos with the increase of the excitation amplitude. © 2022 Editorial Office of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics.

In this paper an analytical procedure is given to study the free vibration and stability characteristics of homogeneous and non-homogeneous orthotropic truncated and complete conical shells with clamped edges under uniform external pressures. The non-homogeneous orthotropic material properties of conical shells vary continuously in the thickness direction. The governing equations according to the Donnell’s theory are solved by Galerkin’s method and critical hydrostatic and lateral pressures and fundamental natural frequencies have been found analytically. The appropriate formulas for homogeneous orthotropic and isotropic conical shells and for cylindrical shells made of homogeneous and non-homogeneous, orthotropic and isotropic materials are found as a special case. Several examples are presented to show the accuracy and efficiency of the formulation. The closed-form solutions are verified by accurate different solutions. Finally, the influences of the non-homogeneity, orthotropy and the variations of conical shells characteristics on the critical lateral and hydrostatic pressures and natural frequencies are investigated, when Young’s moduli and density vary together and separately. The results obtained for homogeneous cases are compared with their counterparts in the literature.  相似文献

A numerical study on the free vibration analysis for laminated conical and cylindrical shell is presented. The analysis is carried out using Love's first approximation thin shell theory and solved using discrete singular convolution (DSC) method. Numerical results in free vibrations of laminated conical and cylindrical shells are presented graphically for different geometric and material parameters. Free vibrations of isotropic cylindrical shells and annular plates are treated as special cases. The effects of circumferential wave number, number of layers on frequencies characteristics are also discussed. The numerical results show that the present method is quite easy to implement, accurate and efficient for the problems considered.  相似文献

The Haar wavelet discretization technique for solving the elastic bending problems of orthotropic plates and shells is proposed. Free transverse vibrations of orthotropic rectangular plates with a variable thickness in one direction are considered as a model problem. In the case of constant plate thickness, the numerical results are validated by comparing them with an exact solution. The results obtained are found to be in good agreement with those available in the literature.  相似文献

Truncated conical shell is an important structure that has been widely applied in many engineering fields. The present paper studies the internal dynamic properties of a truncated rotary conical shell and considers the intercoupling of the high and low order modals by utilizing the Harmonic Balance Method. To disclose the detailed intercoupling characteristics of the high order and low order modals of the system, a truncated shallow shell is studied and the internal response properties of the system are investigated by using the Multiple Scale Method. The nonlinear dynamic stabilities of the system are also analyzed using the Incrementation Harmonic Balance Method. Abundant dynamic characteristics are found in the research. The research results show that the high order modals of rotating conical shells have a significant effect on the curves of vibration amplitude and frequency of the shells.  相似文献

The analysis of effects of emergence of critical states of rigid and elastic thin-wall conical shell frustums hinged or elastically attached by their smaller edges to a rotating platform is performed on the basis of hybrid differential equations. The cases of simple and compound rotations of the carrying platform are considered. It is established that in the case of simple rotation the peculiarities of the critical state onset for the rigid and elastic shells are determined by relationships between their axial inertia moments, whereas in compound rotation the first frequencies of precession resonant vibrations of elastic shells do not depend on elastic pliability of the ties between the shell and the platform.  相似文献

Free vibrations are considered for truncated conical shells of rotation of slightly varying thicknesses with annular strengthening. A solution is built up on the basis of linear shell and bar theory using the Ritz method. Qualitative estimates are given for the effect of rigidly joined solid bodies, and the number, stiffness, and placing of strengthening elements on the change in frequency spectrum and the natural forms of vibration. Theoretical results are confirmed by experimental data obtained by the holographic interferometry method.Translated from Teoreticheskaya i Prikladnaya Mekhanika, No. 20, pp. 88–93, 1989.  相似文献

The postbuckling characteristics of the angle-ply laminated composite conical shells subjected to the torsion, the external pressure, the axial compression, and the thermal loading considering uniform temperature change are studied using the semi-analytical finite element approach. The finite element formulation is based on the first-order shear deformation theory and the field consistency principle. The variations in the stiffness coefficients along the meridional direction due to the changes in the ply-angle and the ply-thickness of the filament wound conical shells are incorporated in the finite element formulation. The nonlinear governing equations are solved using the Newton–Raphson iteration procedure coupled with the displacement control method to trace the prebuckling followed by the postbuckling equilibrium path. The presence of asymmetric perturbation in the form of a small magnitude load spatially proportional to the linear buckling mode shape is considered to initiate the bifurcation of the shell deformation. The influence of semi-cone angle, ply-angle and number of circumferential waves on the prebuckling/postbuckling response of the anti-symmetric angle-ply laminated circular conical shells is investigated.  相似文献

This paper aims to present a unified vibration analysis approach for the four-parameter functionally graded moderately thick doubly-curved shells and panels of revolution with general boundary conditions. The first-order shear deformation theory is used in this formulation. The functionally graded panels structures consists of ceramic and metal which are set to vary continuously in the thickness direction according to the general four-parameter power-law distribution, and six types of power-law distributions are considered for the ceramic volume fraction. The admissible function of the FG panels and shells of revolution is obtained by the improved Fourier series with the help of the governing equations and the boundary conditions. The solution is obtained by using the variational operation in terms of the unknown expanded coefficients. By a great many numerical examples, the rapid convergence and good reliability and accuracy of the proposed approach are validated. A variety of new results for vibration problems of the FG doubly-curved shells and panels with different elastic restraints, geometric and material parameters are presented. The effects of the elastic restraint parameters, power-law exponent, circumference angle and power-law distributions on the free vibration characteristic of the panels are also presented, which can be served as benchmark data in the research and the actual production process.  相似文献

A method to predict the dynamic behaviour of anisotropic truncated conical shells conveying fluid is presented in this paper. It is a combination of finite element method and classical shell theory. The displacement functions are derived from exact solutions of Sanders’ shell equilibrium equations of conical shells. The velocity potential, Bernoulli’s equation and impermeability condition have been applied to the shell–fluid interface to obtain an explicit expression for fluid pressure which yields three forces (inertial, centrifugal, Coriolis) of the moving fluid. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this paper reports the first comparison made between two works which deal with conical shells subjected to internal flowing fluid effects. The results obtained by this method for conical shells with various boundary condition and geometries, in vacuum, fully-filled and when subjected to flowing fluid were compared with those of other experimental and numerical investigations and good agreement was obtained.  相似文献

Haar wavelet operational matrix has been widely applied in system analysis, system identification, optimal control and numerical solution of integral and differential equations. In the present paper we derive the Haar wavelet operational matrix of the fractional order integration, and use it to solve the fractional order differential equations including the Bagley-Torvik, Ricatti and composite fractional oscillation equations. The results obtained are in good agreement with the existing ones in open literatures and it is shown that the technique introduced here is robust and easy to apply.  相似文献

This study investigates the small scale effect on the flapwise bending vibrations of a rotating nanoplate. The nanoplate is modeled with a classical plate theory and considering cantilever and propped cantilever boundary conditions. Due to the rotation, the axial forces are included in the model as true spatial variation. Hamilton's principle is used to derive the governing equation and boundary conditions of the classical plate theory based on Eringen's nonlocal elasticity theory. The generalized differential quadrature method is employed to solve the governing equation. The effect of small-scale parameter, non-dimensional angular velocity, non-dimensional hub radius, aspect ratio, and different boundary conditions in the first four non-dimensional frequencies is discussed. Due to considering rotating effects, results of this study are applicable in nano-machines such as nano-motors and nano-turbines and other nanostructures.  相似文献

In the present analysis, the motion of an immersed plate in a Newtonian fluid described by Torvik and Bagley’s fractional differential equation [1] has been considered. This Bagley Torvik equation has been solved by operational matrix of Haar wavelet method. The obtained result is compared with analytical solution suggested by Podlubny [2]. Haar wavelet method is used because its computation is simple as it converts the problem into algebraic matrix equation.  相似文献

A unified numerical analysis model is presented to solve the free vibration of composite laminated doubly-curved shells and panels of revolution with general elastic restraints by using the Fourier–Ritz method. The first-order shear deformation theory is adopted to conduct the analysis. The admissible function is acquired by using a modified Fourier series approach in which several auxiliary functions are added to a standard cosine Fourier series to eliminate all potential discontinuities of the displacement function and its derivatives at the edges. Furthermore, the general elastic restraint and kinematic compatibility and physical compatibility conditions are imitated by the boundary and coupling spring technique respectively when the composite laminated doubly-curved panels degenerate to the complete shells of revolution. Then, the desired results are solved by the variational operation. Large quantities of numerical examples are calculated about the free vibration of cross-ply and angle-ply composite laminated doubly-curved panels and shells with different geometric and material parameters. Through the sufficient conclusions obtained from the comparison, it can be seen that highly accurate solutions can be yielded with a little computational effort. To understand the influence of different boundary conditions, lamination schemes, material and geometrical parameters on the vibration characteristics, a series of parametric studies are carried out. Lastly, results for vibration of the composite laminated doubly-curved panels and shells subject to various kinds of boundary conditions and with different geometrical and material parameters are also presented firstly, which can provide the benchmark data for other studies conducted in the future.  相似文献

G. H. Bryan [8] discovered and studied the dynamic phenomena that arise during the vibrations of thinwalled shells in natural modes while rotating uniformly about an axis of symmetry. In the present article a more detailed mathematical analysis has been conducted for the solution of the problem of the vibrations of a ring rotating with constant angular velocity under feasible conditions of perturbation of the vibrations and realistic mechanical properties of ceramic materials. It is established that two slowly precessing waves arise during the vibration of the ring, one of which (the one discovered by Bryan) is an inverse precession wave having an angular velocity of precession less than the angular velocity of rotation of the ring, while the second is a direct precession wave having angular velocity larger than the angular velocity of rotation of the ring. Under the actual working conditions for piezoceramic resonators the amplitudes of the direct and inverse wave become comparable. Consequently the vibrations present as a modulated standing wave, that is, the phenomenon of beats in the mode of steady-state normal vibration occurs. This paper presents Haar wavelet approximation to solve a singular integral equation which has singularities on a diagonal of the domain R=[-1,1]×[-1,1]. The singularities arise basically due to modified Bessel function K0 which appears as a part of the kernel. Thus the integral equation is weakly (logarithmically) singular only. The problem is solved considering all the singularities of the kernel and results are examined for approximations of different orders. Our interest to solve the problem using Haar wavelet basis is due to its simplicity and efficiency in numerical approximation. The results show convergence trend as mesh is refined. Comparison is made with some available results obtained earlier by partial consideration of the singularities.  相似文献
