The propagation and reflection of one-dimensional plane unsteady waves and pulses in a mixture of a fluid with two-phase bubbles containing evaporating drops is investigated. A significant effect of unsteady evaporation of the drops in the zone ahead of the shock wave on the wave propagation is demonstrated. The evaporation of the drops results in a pressure increase ahead of the wave and the shock wave as it were climbs to increasing pressure level. In contrast to bubbly fluids with single-phase bubbles, in a fluid with two-phase bubbles, at a fixed phase volume fraction, a decrease in bubble size results in an increase rather than a decrease of the oscillation amplitude. The wave reflection from a solid wall is essentially nonlinear and the maximum pressure attained at the wall is several times greater than the incident-wave intensity.  相似文献

Discharge of a twophase jet from a cylindrical channel into a bounded layer of a disperse medium is numerically simulated using the equations of the mechanics of heterogeneous media with allowance for the differences in velocity, temperature, and phase stresses. The effect of separation of the gas phase from the disperse phase in the layer is revealed and verified experimentally. A comparison with a similar process of gas discharge at equal initial pressures shows that in the interaction with the disperse layer, the twophase flow has a longer momentum and direction.  相似文献

The steady-state velocity, the degree of deformation, and the convective-diffusion-limited rate of quasisteady-state growth (or dissolution) are considered for gas bubbles having shapes close to those of spheres or disks. It is assumed that there are no surface-active substances in the liquid. A qualitative agreement is found between the calculated dissolution rate and the experimental data.Notation a radius of the sphere of equivalent volume - u bubble velocity with respect to the still liquid at infinity - kinematic viscosity of the liquid - liquid density - D gas diffusion coefficient in the liquid - surface tension - g gravitational acceleration - d [R=2au/]-Reynolds number - e [P=2au/D]-Peclet number - f [W=2au2/]-Weber number The author thanks V. The problem of thermal growth of a vapor bubble moving in a superheated liquid is solved for two models of the phase interface, namely: a rigid (no-slip condition) and a pliable (slip condition) spherical surface. The second self-similar solution of the problem of the motion of a vapor bubble with a pliable surface is found. On the basis of this solution, an approximate dependence of the nondimensional heat flux into the bubble on the Jacob and Péclet numbers is constructed. For two limiting cases, namely, for a bubble growing at rest and a moving bubble of constant radius, this dependence coincides with the known solutions. The calculation results are compared with the experimental data obtained for vapor bubbles rising in a superheated liquid.  相似文献

Diffusion in anisotropic porous media   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
An experimental system was constructed in order to measure the two distinct components of the effective diffusivity tensor in transversely isotropic, unconsolidated porous media. Measurements were made for porous media consisting of glass spheres, mica particles, and disks made from mylar sheets. Both the particle geometry and the void fraction of the porous media were determined experimentally, and theoretical calculations for the two components of the effective diffusivity tensor were carried out. The comparison between theory and experiment clearly indicates that the void fraction and particle geometry are insufficient to characterize the process of diffusion in anisotropic porous media. Summary The behavior of a spherical bubble near a solid wall is analysed by considering the liquid compressibility. The equation of motion of the bubble with first order correction for the effects of liquid compressibility and solid wall is derived. The equation obtained here coincides with the known result in case of L or C . Further experimental study is made on the motion of bubbles produced by a spark discharge in water. The theoretical results are in good agreement with the experiments.

Equilibrium and bicontinuum nonequilibrium formulations of the advection–dispersion equation (ADE) have been widely used to describe subsurface solute transport. The Green's Function Method (GFM) is particularly attractive to solve the ADE because of its flexibility to deal with arbitrary initial and boundary conditions, and its relative simplicity to formulate solutions for multidimensional problems. The Green's functions that are presented can be used for a wide range of problems involving equilibrium and nonequilibrium transport in semiinfinite and infinite media. The GFM is applied to analytically model multidimensional transport from persistent solute sources typical of nonaqueous phase liquids (NAPLs). Specific solutions are derived for transport from a rectangular source (parallel to the flow direction) of persistent contamination using first, second, or thirdtype boundary or source input conditions. Away from the source, the first and thirdtype condition cannot be expected to represent the exact surface condition. The secondtype condition has the disadvantage that the diffusive flux from the source needs to be specified a priori. Near the source, the thirdtype condition appears most suitable to model NAPL dissolution into the medium. The solute flux from the pool, and hence the concentration in the medium, depends strongly on the mass transfer coefficient. For all conditions, the concentration profiles indicate that nonequilibrium conditions tend to reduce the maximum solute concentration and the total amount of solute that enters the porous medium from the source. On the other hand, during nonequilibrium transport the solute may spread over a larger area of the medium compared to equilibrium transport.  相似文献

Shear softening and thixotropic properties of wheat flour doughs are demonstrated in dynamic testing with a constant stress rheometer. This behaviour appears beyond the strictly linear domain (strain amplitude 0 0.2%),G,G and |*| decreasing with 0, the strain response to a sine stress wave yet retaining a sinusoidal shape. It is also shown thatG recovers progressively in function of rest time. In this domain, as well as in the strictly linear domain, the Cox-Merz rule did not apply but() and | *())| may be superimposed by using a shift factor, its value decreasing in the former domain when 0 increases. Beyond a strain amplitude of about 10–20%, the strain response is progressively distorted and the shear softening effects become irreversible following rest.  相似文献

Summary A study is made of the attenuation of pressure surges in a two-dimension a channel carrying a viscous liquid when a valve at the downstream end is suddenly closed. The analysis differs from previous work in this area by taking into account the transient nature of the wall shear, which in the past has been assumed as equivalent to that existing in steady flow. For large values of the frictional resistance parameter the transient wall shear analysis results in less attenuation than given by the steady wall shear assumption.Nomenclature c /, ft/sec - e base of natural logarithms - F(x, y) integration function, equation (38) - (x) mean value of F(x, y) - g local acceleration of gravity, ft/sec2 - h width of conduit, ft - k (2m–1)2 2 L/h 2 c, equation (35) - k* 12L/h 2 c, frictional resistance parameter, equation (46) - L length of conduit, ft - m positive integer - n positive integer - p pressure, lb/ft2 - p 0 constant pressure at inlet of conduit, lb/ft2 - P pressure plus elevation head, p+gz, equation (4) - mean value of P over the conduit width h - P 0 p 0+gz 0, lbs/ft2 - R frictional resistance coefficient for steady state wall shear, lb sec/ft4 - s positive integer; also, condensation, equation (6) - t time, sec - t ct/L, dimensionless time - u x component of fluid velocity, ft/sec - u m mean velocity in conduit, equation (12), ft/sec - u 0(y) velocity profile in Poiseuille flow, equation (19), ft/sec - transformed velocity - U initial mean velocity in conduit - x distance along conduit, measured from valve (fig. 1), ft - x x/L, dimensionless distance - y distance normal to conduit wall (fig. 1), ft - y y/h, equation (25) - z elevation, measured from arbitrary datum, ft - z 0 elevation of constant pressure source, ft - isothermal bulk compression modulus, lbs/ft2 - n , equation (37) - n (2n–1)/2, equation (36) - viscosity, slugs/ft sec - / = kinematic viscosity, ft2/sec - density of fluid, slugs/ft3 - 0 density of undisturbed fluid, slugs/ft3 - ø angle between conduit and vertical (fig. 1) The research upon which this paper is based was supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation.  相似文献

The effective length method [1, 2] has been used to make systematic calculations of the heat transfer for laminar and turbulent boundary layers on slender blunt-nosed cones at small angles of attack ( + 5° in a separationless hypersonic air stream dissociating in equilibrium (half-angles of the cones 0 20°, angles of attack 0 15°, Mach numbers 5 M 25). The parameters of the gas at the outer edge of the boundary layer were taken equal to the inviscid parameters on the surface of the cones. Analysis of the results leads to simple approximate dependences for the heat transfer coefficients.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 5, pp. 173–177, September–October, 1981.  相似文献

Nonequilibrium air–water mass transfer experiments using a laboratoryscale singleair channel setup were conducted to investigate the influence of porous media and air velocity on the fate of nonaqueous phase liquids (NAPLs) under air sparging conditions. Benzene was used as a NAPL while silica sand 30/50 (dp50=0.305mm, uniformity coefficient, UC=1.41) and silica sand 70/100 (dp50=0.168mm, UC=1.64) were used as porous media. Air velocities ranged from 0 to 1.4cm/s. Mass transfer coefficients for the dissolution of NAPLs were estimated by numerical methods using a twodimensional dissolution–diffusion–volatilization model. The study showed that the presence of advective airflow in air channels controlled the spreading of the dissolved phase but the overall removal efficiency was independent of airflow rate. Removal efficiencies and dissolution rates of the NAPL were found to be strongly affected by the mean particle size of the porous media during air sparging. More than 50% reduction in the removal rate of benzene was found when silica sand 70/100 was used instead of silica sand 30/50. Mass transfer coefficients for the dissolution of benzene NAPL were estimated to be 0.0041cm/min for silica sand 70/100 and 0.227cm/min for silica sand 30/50. Increasing the air velocity from 0.6 to 1.4cm/s for silica sand 30/50 did not result in a higher removal rate. Quantitative estimation of the dissolution rates of benzene NAPL indicated that the dissolution rates (between 0.227 and 0.265cm/min) were similar in magnitude for the same porous media but different air flow rates. Based on the visualization study, air sparging may be used to control the spreading of the dissolved phase even when the glob of NAPL is several centimeters away from the air–water interface of the air channels.  相似文献

Soilbentonite slurry walls are designed to inhibit the subsurface movement of contaminants from hazardous waste sites. Although it is generally accepted that high concentrations of organic compounds will adversely affect soilbentonite slurry walls and clay liners, previous research investigating the effects of NAPLs on the conductivity of clay wall materials has been inconclusive. In this study the effects of various organics (benzene, aniline, trichloroethylene, ethylene dichloride, methylene chloride) on the effective conductivity of a typical soilbentonite slurry wall material were studied under two effective stress conditions, 200 and 52kPa. The hydraulic conductivity for the soilbentonite material permeated with water averaged 1.52×10-8cms-1. Compared to water, there was little change in conductivity when the sample was permeated with a solution containing a NAPL compound at its solubility limit, except for aniline. However, there was a one to two order of magnitude decrease in conductivity when the sample was permeated with a pure NAPL for all NAPLs tested. When the soilbentonite material was permeated with a water/NAPL/water/NAPL sequence, the conductivity decreased one to two orders of magnitude when a NAPL was introduced following water; however, when water was reintroduced after the NAPL, the conductivity increased to the initial hydraulic conductivity. The conductivity again decreased one to two orders of magnitude when the NAPL was reintroduced. This trend occurred for all NAPLs tested, and the fluid properties of the NAPL compounds alone did not account for the decrease in conductivity compared to water.  相似文献

Since the temperature is not an additive function, the traditional thermodynamic point of view suggests that the volume integral of the temperature has no precise physical meaning. This observation conflicts with the customary analysis of non-isothermal catalytic reactors, heat pipes, driers, geothermal processes, etc., in which the volume averaged temperature plays a crucial role. In this paper we identify the thermodynamic significance of the volume averaged temperature in terms of a simple two-phase heat transfer process. Given the internal energy as a function of the point temperature and the density
we show that the volume averaged internal energy is represented by e = F(T , )when e is a linear function of T and , or when the traditional length-scale constraints associated with the method of volume averaging are satisfied. When these conditions are not met, higher order terms involving the temperature gradient and the density gradient appear in the representation for e .  相似文献

A solution is obtained for the relationship between load, displacement and inner contact radius for an axisymmetric, spherically concave, rigid punch, indenting an elastic half-space. Analytic approximations are developed for the limiting cases in which the ratio of the inner and outer radii of the annular contact region is respectively small and close to unity. These approximations overlap well at intermediate values. The same method is applied to the conically concave punch and to a punch with a central hole. , , . , . . .  相似文献

The problem of the influence of a nonequilibrium (non–Maxwellian( distribution of translational energy over the degrees of freedom of molecules on the rate of their dissociation in a hypersonic shock wave is considered. An approximate beam—continuous medium model, which was previously applied to describe a hypersonic flow of a perfect gas, was used to study translational nonequilibrium. The degree of dissociation of diatomic molecules inside the shock–wave front, which is caused by the nonequilibrium distribution over the translational degrees of freedom, is evaluated. It is shown that the efficiency of the first inelastic collisions is determined by the dissociation rate exponentially depending on the difference in the kinetic energy of beam molecules and dissociation barrier.  相似文献

A model of a powder with a variable surface temperature is considered. A stability criterion for the steady-state burning of powders at constant pressure is found on the assumption that all the processes in the gas phase and the reaction layer of the condensed phase are inertialess. It is shown that the stability region is determined by two parameters: K=(T1 – t0) ( ln m/T0)p and r=(T1/T0)p (here T1 is the surface temperature, T1 is the initial temperature of the powder, m is the mass burning rate, p is pressure). Burning is always stable if < 1. If > 1, the burning process is stable only when r > ( – 1)2/ / + 1.The author expresses his appreciation to A. S. Kompaneits, O. I. Leipunskii, A. G. Istratov, V. B. The general validity of the Computational Preston Tube Method (CPM) proposed by Nitsche et al. is disputed. The method involves the determination of both the skin-friction coefficient c f and the von Karman constant from fitting two near-wall mean velocity measurements to a generalized van Driest family of velocity profiles. It is demonstrated by a detailed examination of measured mean velocity profiles that for at least one flow situation for which success with the CPM has been claimed, the laminar-turbulent transition of a flat-plate boundary layer, the method must either fail completely or lead to non-unique results. It is concluded that the applicability of the CPM is restricted to flows for which the normal law-of-the-wall is valid.  相似文献

Results are presented of a study of the gasdynamic parameters and the geometric characteristics of the mixing zone of axisymmetric jets of gases of differing density (Freon-12, air, and helium) propagating in a parallel air stream, within the limits of the initial segment (0x/R3–30). Experimental data are presented on the effect of different densities (0. 27 n8.2) and velocities (0m1.7) of the gas jet and the parallel stream on the mixing process.  相似文献

The deformation of particle image patterns due to velocity gradients causes errors of velocity measurements and false velocity detections in PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry). A novel technique to overcome those limitations inherent in the conventional PIV by correcting the particle image pattern according to the local velocity gradients in two dimensional flows, i.e. u/x, u/y, v/x and v/y, is proposed and successfully applied to a water flow downstream of a backward facing step.  相似文献

The results of laboratory observations of the deformation of deep water gravity waves leading to wave breaking are reported. The specially developed visualization technique which was used is described. A preliminary analysis of the results has led to similar conclusions than recently developed theories. As a main fact, the observed wave breaking appears as the result of, first, a modulational instability which causes the local wave steepness to approach a maximum and, second, a rapidly growing instability leading directly to the breaking.List of symbols L total wave length - H total wave height - crest elevation above still water level - trough depression below still water level - wave steepness =H/L - crest steepness =/L - trough steepness =/L - F 1 forward horizontal length from zero-upcross point (A) to wave crest - F 2 backward horizontal length from wave crest to zero-downcross point (B) - crest front steepness =/F 1 - crest rear steepness =/F 2 - vertical asymmetry factor=F 2/F 1 (describing the wave asymmetry with respect to a vertical axis through the wave crest) - µ horizontal asymmetry factor=/H (describing the wave asymmetry with respect to a horizontal axis: SWL) - T 0 wavemaker period - L 0 theoretical wave length of a small amplitude sinusoïdal wave generated at T inf0 sup–1 frequency - 0 average wave height  相似文献
