The synthesis of stable dispersions of hybrid colloids comprising copolymers of biocompatible 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and zwitterionic, biomimetic 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC) incorporating antibacterial AgBF(4) by inverse miniemulsion is described. The prepared hybrid colloids were designed to provide both antibacterial and antifouling properties for the formation of interesting, multifunctional films. The obtained particles had sizes in the range of 130-160 nm with two different weight ratios of MPC to HEMA (1:10 and 2:5) and AgBF(4) contents between 0% and 15%. The silver salt takes on the role of the lipophobe in stabilizing the miniemulsion droplets against Ostwald ripening and is reduced after polymerization to Ag nanoparticles by gaseous hydrazine. Subsequently, the hybrid particles are transformed into smooth and stable films with thicknesses between 145 and 225 nm by simple drop casting and solvent annealing. The dispersions and films were thoroughly characterized by DLS, TEM, SEM, EDX, TGA, UV-vis spectroscopy, ICP-OES, XRD, AFM, and contact angle measurements. After immersion into water, the films did not show detectable leakage of silver, so they could be employed as dual-functional antifouling and antibacterial coatings.  相似文献

In this paper, series of novel pH-responsive silver (Ag) nanoparticle/poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA)-poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PEGMA)-methacrylic acid (MAA)) composite hydrogel were successfully prepared by in situ reducing Ag+ ions anchored in the hydrogel by the deprotonized carboxyl acid groups. X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-vis spectrophotometry, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electric conductivity tests were used to characterize the composite system. It was found that the size and morphology of the reduced Ag nanoparticles in the composite hydrogels could be changed by loading the Ag+ ions at various swelling ratios of hydrogel. Moreover, compared to the pure poly(HEMA-PEGMA-MAA) hydrogel, not only did the Ag nanoparticle/poly(HEMA-PEGMA-MAA) composite hydrogels exhibit much higher swelling ratio and faster deswelling rate, but also higher pH switchable electrical properties upon controlling the interparticle distance under pH stimulus. The pH responsive nanocomposite hydrogel reported here might be a potentially smart material in the range of applications including electronics, biosensors and drug-delivery devices.  相似文献

Micron-sized polystyrene or PS particles were first prepared by dispersion polymerization. Then a series of polystyrene/poly(styrene-2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) or PS/P(S-HEMA) composite polymer particles was prepared by seeded copolymerization using different amounts of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) at the constant core/shell ratio of 1/0.5. The produced PS seed and composite polymer particles were characterized by transmission electron microscopy. Adsorption behaviors of some biologically active macromolecules were studied under similar conditions. In each case the magnitude of adsorption on composite polymer particles decreased with the increase in HEMA content in the recipe, which means that the hydrophobic interaction between the surface of the particles and biomolecules decreased. The specific activities of trypsin aqueous solution and adsorbed trypsin on PS seed and composite polymer particles prepared with different HEMA contents were also measured and compared. The activity of adsorbed trypsin on composite polymer particles improved significantly with the incorporation of hydrophilic HEMA.  相似文献

Hybrid particles containing different hydrophilic metal salts such as tetrafluoroborates of iron(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II), and zinc(II), and nitrates of cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II), zinc(II), and iron(III), and cobalt(II) chloride were synthesized via inverse miniemulsion polymerization of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA). All salts delivered narrowly size-distributed hybrid particles with the exception of iron(III), where only the nitrate salt could be successfully employed. The size and size distribution of the hybrid particles were characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The particle morphology and the distribution of salt in the dried particles were observed by TEM. The influences of the type of metal salts and salt content on the particle size distribution were extensively investigated.  相似文献

Surface structure of submicron-sized poly(styrene/2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) [P(S/HEMA)] composite particles produced by emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization was estimated with atomic force microscopy (AFM). AFM force curves were measured in water at different points of the particle surface; it was clarified that the particle surface had a heterogeneous structure consisting of hard and soft parts, which must be, respectively, based on styrene-rich and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate-rich parts.  相似文献

Narrow disperse core-brush polymer nanoparticles (BP) were synthesized by grafting from photo-induced atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) from N,N-diethyldithiocarbamate (DC) groups of core-shell particle surface. We constructed colloidal crystals of these particles by depositing on glass substrate. By variation of the particle size, the brilliant color could be varied throughout the visible spectrum. We locked also permanently such colloidal crystals by cross-linking of poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA) brush phases with glutaraldehyde. The peak wavelength (λ(max)) in the reflection spectra agreed well with the bandgap position for light incident on the (1 1 1) face of face-centered cubic (fcc) lattice according to Bragg's law.  相似文献

The dispersion copolymerization of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) with glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) in a toluene/2-methylpropan-1-ol mixture in the presence of Fe3O4 nanoparticles coated with oleic acid, produced monodisperse magnetic poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate-co-glycidyl methacrylate) (P(HEMA-GMA)) microspheres. Oxirane groups of the microspheres were ammonolyzed and then functionalized with streptavidin using cyanuric chloride. The final product contained 0.67 mg of streptavidin per gram of wet magnetic P(HEMA-GMA) microspheres. The microspheres were characterized by elemental analysis, scanning electron microscopy, IR, UV–VIS and atomic absorption spectroscopy. The streptavidin-modified magnetic P(HEMA-GMA) microspheres were used for immobilization of biotinylated DNA and subsequent selective isolation of target DNA from complex samples using DNA/DNA hybridisation. Based on the highly selective recognition of streptavidin with a biotin-labeled DNA probe, DNA sensor was constructed for magnetic separation of DNA from real samples.  相似文献

A new type pyridinium salt monomer, 1-vinyl-4-carbamidopyridinium perchlorate, was prepared, and then homopolymerized and copolymerized with methyl methacrylate (MMA), 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), styrene, and acrylonitrile. Redox potentials of these pyridinium salt monomer and polymers were more positive than that of the model compound (1-methyl-4-carbamidopyridinium salt). The copolymer with MMA showed an interesting redox behavior.  相似文献

The free radical dispersion polymerization of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) has been carried out in supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) and compressed liquid DME using several surfactants. The polymerization are performed in the presence of fluorine-based poly(3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,9,9,10,10,10-heptadecafluorodecyl acrylate) [poly(HDFDA)], poly(3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,9,9,10,10,10-heptadecafluorodecyl methacrylate) [poly(HDFDMA)], or poly(HDFDMA-co-MMA) and siloxane-based PDMS-g-pyrrolidonecarboxylic acid (Monasil PCA™) or PDMS modified surfactants, SS-5050K™ and KF6017™ as polymerization surfactants. When scCO2 was used as a polymerization medium, the PHEMA were heavily agglomerated. However, the spherical and relatively uniform poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA) particles could be produced even at 20 bar, with a narrow particle size distribution in compressed liquid DME. It was observed that fluorine-based surfactants were not a good surfactant as siloxane-based surfactants for the dispersion polymerization of HEMA. The average particle size of PHEMA was shown to be dependent on the type of the surfactant, the amount of the surfactant and initiator added to the system. The effect of two continuous phases, which are scCO2 and compressed liquid DME, as a polymerization medium, the surfactant types and the concentration, initiator concentration, and monomer concentration on the morphology and size of the polymer particles was also investigated.  相似文献

The stages of transformation of a colloidal crystalline film of latex spheres to a new periodic structure were imaged by atomic force microscopy. Colloidal crystalline films were prepared with 320 nm diameter poly(styrene-co-2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PSt/HEMA) spheres. The hexagonally ordered surfaces of the colloidal crystalline films were transformed with styrene vapor at room temperature to a new morphology having holes in the surface and the same periodicity as the original films. The surfaces of colloidal crystals and the transformed films have a raspberry-like texture superposed on the 320 nm hexagonal periodicity. Both height images and phase images reveal that the latex spheres shrink and the transformation proceeds by an order-disorder-order sequence. The final structure is an interconnected colloidal array with smaller polystyrene particles dispersed in a continuous PSt/HEMA matrix.  相似文献

When polymer–silver salt complex membranes were exposed to UV irradiation, the separation performances of both the permeance and selectivity for propylene–propane decreased, which was primarily attributed to the reduction of the silver ions in the membranes to silver nanoparticles. Here, the effect of the polymer matrix on the formation of silver nanoparticles in the polymer–silver salt complex membranes was investigated. This effect was assessed for the complexes of two kinds of silver salts (AgBF4 and AgCF3SO3) with several polymeric ligands containing three different carbonyl groups, including poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) with an amide group, poly(vinyl methyl ketone) (PVMK) with a ketone group, and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) with an ester group. UV–vis spectra and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images clearly indicated that the reduction rate of the silver ions has the following order in the various polymer matrices: PVP > PVMK > PMMA, whereas the size and the distribution of the nanoparticles exhibited the reverse order. The tendency to form silver nanoparticles was explained in terms of the differences between the comparative strengths of the interactions of the silver ions with the different carbonyl oxygens in the matrices, as well as that of the silver ions with counteranions, which was characterized by X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and FT‐Raman spectroscopy. It was concluded that when the concentration of free silver ions was low due to weak polymer–silver ion and strong silver ion–anion interactions, as found with PMMA, the reduction rate of silver ions to silver nanoparticles was slow. Therefore, the PMMA–silver complex membranes were less sensitive to decreases in separation performance upon UV irradiation than compared to the PVP membranes. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave-Assisted Coating of PMMA beads by silver nanoparticles   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Microwave (MW) irradiation was found to be a new technique for coating silver nanoparticles with an average size of approximately 31 nm onto the surface of poly(methyl methacrylate) PMMA beads (3 mm diameter). The microwave polyol reduction was carried out under an argon atmosphere. Silver nanoparticles were obtained by the MW irradiation of a solution mixture containing silver nitrate (or silver acetate), poly(ethylene glycol), ethanol, water, and 24 wt % aqueous ammonia for 5 min in the presence of PMMA beads, yielding a PMMA-nanosilver composite. By controlling the atmosphere and reaction conditions, we could achieve the deposition of silver nanoparticles onto the surface of poly(methyl methacrylate) and vary the amount of the silver anchored to the surface. The resulting silver-deposited PMMA samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray analysis, high-resolution scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and volumetric titration with potassium thiocyanate (KSCN) according to the Folgard method.  相似文献

The reduction of silver ions to silver nanoparticles is an essential issue in polymer/silver salt complex membranes for facilitated olefin transport, because it has a critical influence on the long-term stability of membrane performance. In this study, the role of anions for the formation of silver nanoparticles in polymer/silver salt complexes was investigated. This role was assessed for the complexes of poly(N-vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) with three silver salts including AgBF4, AgCF3SO3, and AgNO3. Especially, UV irradiation to the membranes was used to clearly investigate the reduction behavior of silver ions. Separation performance test, UV–vis spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) clearly show that the reduction rate of silver ions strongly depends on the counteranions of salt, and has the following order: AgBF4 > AgCF3SO3 > AgNO3. This behavior of the formation of silver nanoparticles in polymer/silver salt complex membranes is explained in terms of the interaction strength of silver ions with the carbonyl oxygens of polymer, and that of silver ions with counteranions. It is concluded that when the former interaction is strong and the latter one is weak, the reduction rate of silver ions to silver nanoparticles is fast, and vice versa. These interactions were characterized using FT-IR, FT-Raman spectroscopy, and theoretical ab initio calculation.  相似文献

The reduction of silver ions in formamide is shown to take place spontaneously at room temperature without addition of any reductant. The growth of Ag particles was found to be dependent on Ag+ ion concentration. In the absence of any stabilizer, deposition of silver film on the glass walls of the container takes place. However, in the presence of poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) (PVP) or colloidal silica (SiO2), which are capable of stabilizing silver nanoparticles by complexing and providing support, a clear dispersion was obtained. The formation of the silver nanoparticles under different conditions was investigated through UV-visible absorption spectrophotometry, gas chromatography, and also electron and atomic force microscopic techniques. Atomic force microscopy results for silver films prepared in the absence of any stabilizer showed the formation of polygonal particles with sizes around 100 nm. Transmission electron microscopy results showed that the prepared silver particles in the presence of PVP were around 20 nm. The Ag nanoparticles get oxidized in the presence of chloroform and toluene. Surface modification of silver film was done in the presence of the tetrasodium salt of ethylenediaminetetraaceticacid (Na4EDTA). It was shown that the reactivity of the silver film increased in its presence. The Fermi potential of silver particles in the presence of Na4EDTA seems to lie between -0.33 and -0.446 V vs NHE.  相似文献

Poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (poly(HEMA)) membranes were prepared by UV-initiated photopolymerization of HEMA in the presence of an initiator (a-a′-azobisisobutyronitrile, AIBN). An affinity dye, i.e. Cibacron Blue F3GA (CB) was incorporated covalently and then complexed with Fe(III) ions. The polyHEMA-CB and polyHEMA-CB-Fe(III) derivatized membranes were used in the adsorption of catalase (CAT). The enzyme-loading capability of the Fe(III)-containing membrane (23.6 μg/cm2) was greater than that of the poly(HEMA)-CB derivatized membrane (17.1 μg/cm2). The adsorption phenomena appeared to follow a typical Langmuir isotherm. The Km values for both immobilized catalases (poly(HEMA)-CB-CAT (22.4 mM) and poly(HEMA)-CB-Fe(III)-CAT (19.3 mM)) were higher than that of free enzyme (16.5 mM). Optimum operational temperature was 5°C higher than that of the free enzyme and was significantly broader. A similar observation was made for the optimum pH. Operational, thermal and storage stabilities were found to increase with immobilization, especially in the presence of Fe(III). It was observed that enzyme could be repeatedly adsorbed and desorbed without significant loss in adsorption capacity or enzyme activity.  相似文献

In this study, the influence of some factors on the heterogeneous nucleation of hen egg-white lysozyme (E.C. 3.2.1.17) on a series of chemically modified surfaces has been investigated. Microbatch crystallization experiments were conducted on the microscope glass slides that were treated with poly-L-glutamic acid (PLG), poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (P2HEMA), poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), poly(4-vinyl pyridine) (P4VP), and (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES). An optical microscope with a heating/cooling stage was employed to measure the induction time of heterogeneous nucleation. The surface topography and roughness were characterized by atomic force microscopy. Contact angles for crystallization solution on the investigated surfaces were measured by a contact angle meter. From the theoretical analysis, the energetic barrier to heterogeneous nucleation was found to increase at higher contact angles and to decrease at higher roughness. Experimentally, a qualitative increase of the induction time of the heterogeneous nucleation on P2HEMA, APTES, and PMMA surfaces with the contact angle was observed. Such surfaces as P2HEMA, PLG, and APTES, which were of higher roughness, were shown to promote the heterogeneous nucleation. In addition, the surface with specific topography is expected to increase the possibility of the formation of a critical nucleus. Finally, the P4VP surface appeared to suppress the heterogeneous nucleation as a result of the electrostatic interaction between the lysozyme and P4VP molecules.  相似文献

The goal was to electrospin 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate — based biocompatible polymers and prepare submicron fibres (nanofibers) for biomedicinal applications. Syntheses of poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (HEMA) and its copolymer with 2-ethoxyethyl methacrylate (EOEMA), and their characterization by viscometry and molecular weight are described. Their relation to electrospinning is discussed. Electrospinning of HEMA homopolymer from water-ethanol is successful for molecular weights 6.31 × 105 and 1.80 × 106 g/mol. Electrospinning of HEMA/EOEMA copolymers is feasible from ethanol.   相似文献

The present study presents two different methods to obtain hybrid material formed by the poly [styrene (ST)–poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PEGMA) 1100] and silver (Ag0). The aim has been to cover the polymeric particles with Ag0 shell. The first method consisted of mixing Ag0 nanoparticles dispersion with poly (ST-PEGMA 1100) dispersion, while in the second method, the Ag0 nanoparticles have been generated in situ. The hybrid materials have been characterized by MO, dynamic light scattering, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, X-ray energy dispersive spectrometry, and ultraviolet–visible spectrophotometry. The results confirm the obtaining of two types of morphologies. In the first case, the nanoparticles have been arranged in the interspatial zones of the polymer particles, while in the second method, the Ag0 nanoparticles have covered the polymer particles. Thus, the film obtained using the second method is more suitable for the practical application, as a separation membrane, using the antiseptic properties of Ag0.  相似文献
