Benzene- or 2,3-naphthalene-ring-expanded tetraazachlorins (TACs), tetraazabacteriochlorins (TABCs), and tetraazaisobacteriochlorins (TAiBCs) have been synthesized by using tetramethylsuccinonitrile as a source of hydrogenated sites. The derived compounds were characterized by using NMR spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, electronic and magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) spectroscopy, and electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical methods. X-ray analysis revealed that the benzene-fused TAiBC deviates slightly from planarity at the hydrogenated sites as a result of the presence of sp(3) carbons, which prefer a nonplanar tetrahedral conformation. The spectral data were analyzed by using a band deconvolution technique. In the electronic absorption spectra of TAC and TABC species, the Q band splits into two intense components and smaller splittings were observed for the 2,3-naphthalene-fused derivatives relative to the benzo-fused species. In contrast, in the case of TAiBCs, the Q band splitting was apparently not observed in absorption spectra, as expected from the C(2v) molecular symmetry. However, MCD signals of the Q band in TAiBCs showed Faraday B terms, implying that the accidental degeneracy of the LUMO and LUMO+1 was broken even for adjacently ring-fused species. Relative molecular orbital energies were estimated by using cyclic and differential pulse voltammetry. The first reduction potentials were close for TACs and TABCs, although those of TAiBCs shifted to more negative potentials. In contrast, although TABCs and TAiBCs exhibited similar first oxidation potentials, those of TACs appeared at more positive potentials. These properties were reproduced and rationalized by molecular orbital and configuration interaction calculations within the framework of the ZINDO/S Hamiltonian. DFT-level frequency calculations have succeeded in reproducing the IR spectra for low-symmetry tetraazaporphyrin (TAP) derivatives for the first time. The relationship between structures and spectral features is discussed.  相似文献

The synthesis, and spectroscopic and electrochemical properties of hydrogenated tetraazaporphyrins (TAPs), namely tetraazachlorins (TACs), tetraazabacteriochlorins (TABCs) and tetraazaisobacteriochlorins (TAiBCs), have been reviewed. While the first synthesis of this type of hydrogenated aromatic macrocycle was achieved as early as 1958 by Linstead et al. (G. E. Ficken, R. P. Linstead, E. Stephen and M. Whalley, J. Chem. Soc., 1958, 3879), the development of modern synthetic strategies enables us to isolate stable forms of the hydrogenated TAP derivatives. Benzo-, 2,3-naphtho- and 1,2-naphtho-fused derivatives were synthesized extensively, and all structural isomers have been elucidated. The chemical structures have been characterized using a variety of techniques, including mass spectrometry, (1)H and (13)C NMR, X-ray crystallography and IR spectroscopy. The spectroscopic properties (e.g., electronic absorption, magnetic circular dichroism (MCD), and fluorescence) of these compounds differ significantly from those of the original TAPs, or phthalocyanines (Pcs), due to the symmetry-lowering effects of the core aromatic macrocycles. The experimentally observed properties have been rationalized on the basis of electrochemical studies and quantum chemical calculations. As an application of the TAC skeleton, the synthesis and electronic structures of tribenzo TAC (TBTAC)-C(60) conjugates, in which both components are covalently connected directly and thus show remarkable molecular orbital (MO) mixing between the constituting moieties, have also been reviewed.  相似文献

Cis and trans isomers of ferrocene-based donor-acceptor assemblies, Fc-C(I)=CH(I), Fc-C(I)=CH(CN), and Fc-C(CN)=CH(CN) (Fc is ferrocene), along with the Fc-C(CN)=C(CN)2 complex have been prepared and characterized by 1H, 13C, gHMQC, and gHMBC NMR spectra, IR, UV-vis, and MCD spectroscopy methods, as well as elemental analyses. The oxidation potentials, investigated by cyclic voltammetry, of all donor-acceptor assemblies are in agreement with the electron-acceptor strength of the substituents attached to the ferrocene core. X-ray crystallography studies of cis and trans isomers of Fc-C(I)=CH(CN) and Fc-C(CN)=CH(CN) reveal a significant rotational flexibility of the cyanovinyl group, which was explained on the basis of semiempirical PM3 calculations. Electronic structures and solvatochromic properties of all complexes were investigated by UV-vis spectroscopy, density functional theory (DFT), time-dependent DFT (TDDFT), and polarized continuum model (PCM) TDDFT approaches. The calculated vertical excitation energies and magnitudes of solvatochromic effect are consistent with the experimental data and clearly suggest the dominance of metal-to-ligand charge-transfer bands in the visible region of the UV-vis spectra for all complexes.  相似文献

The synthesis and isolation of the complex cis,fac-[RuIICl2(bpea)(PPh3)][3; bpea = N,N-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)ethylamine] and three geometrical isomers of the complex [RuIICl(bpea)(dppe)](BF4) [4; dppe = (1,2-diphenylphosphino)ethane], trans, fac (4a), cis,fac (4b), and mer(down) (4c), have been described (see Chart 1 for a drawing of their structures). These complexes have been characterized through analytical, spectroscopic (IR, UV/vis, and 1D and 2D NMR), and electrochemical (cyclic voltammetry) techniques. In addition, complexes 3, 4a, and 4b have been further characterized in the solid state through monocrystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The molecular and electronic structures of isomers 4a, 4b, 4c, and 4d (the mer(up) isomer) have also been studied by means of density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Furthermore, their low-energy electronic transitions have been simulated using time-dependent DFT approaches, which have allowed unraveling of their metal-to-ligand charge-transfer nature. Complexes 3 and 4a-c are capable of catalyzing H-transfer types of reactions between alcohols and aromatic ketones such as acetophenone and 2,2-dimethylpropiophenone (DP). A strong influence of the facial versus meridional geometry in the bpea ligand coordination mode is observed for these catalytic reactions, with the meridional isomer being much more active than the facial one. The meridional isomer is even capable of carrying out the H-transfer reaction of bulky substrates such as DP at room temperature.  相似文献

Tetraazaporphyrins (TAPs), phthalocyanines (Pcs), naphthalocyanines (Ncs), and anthracocyanines (Acs) with four tert-butyl groups attached at similar positions have been synthesized, and their electronic absorption, magnetic circular dichroism (MCD), IR, and voltammetric properties were studied and interpreted with the help of quantum-mechanical calculations. Through the preparation of a series of compounds with the same number of the same substituent, the effects of the increase in the size of the ring system were clearly derived. The main results may be summarized as follows. 1) The Q band shifts to longer wavelength and its intensity increases, but with decreasing degree of change with increasing molecular size. If the size of the effect of benzene directly fused to the TAP skeleton is set at unity, the effects of the second and third benzene units are roughly 0.8 and 0.5, respectively. 2) The splitting of the Q bands in metal-free compounds decreases with increasing molecular size, so that the Q bands of H2Nc and H2Ac appear as single bands. 3) The magnitude of the orbital angular momentum of the excited state of the ligand decreases with increasing molecular size. 4) Interestingly, the ring current, as judged from the positions of pyrrole proton signals in the 1H NMR spectrum, appears to decrease with increasing molecular size. 5) The first reduction potential becomes less negative, but only slightly, whereas the first oxidation potential shows a marked shift to less positive values with increasing molecular size, indicating that the HOMO destabilizes significantly as the molecule becomes larger. 6) In 5), the extent of the HOMO destabilization with molecular size differs depending on the central metal, so metals producing smaller destabilization effects can allow larger macrocycles. Of the metals studied, the most effective is cobalt, and the practical size limit is represented by the Acs. 7) The IR spectra become simpler the larger the molecule, and the main bands were assigned by DFT calculations. 8) The trend in experimentally determined redox potentials and electronic absorption and MCD spectra were reasonably reproduced by MO calculations using the ZINDO/S Hamiltonian. 9) EPR data for several metallocomplexes are also reported.  相似文献

Molecular structures of Dy(3)N@C(78) and Tm(3)N@C(78) clusterfullerenes are addressed by the IR and Raman vibrational spectroscopic studies and density functional theory (DFT) computations. First, extensive semiempirical calculations of 2927 isomers of C(78) hexaanions followed by DFT optimization were applied to establish their relative stability. Then, DFT calculations of a series of M(3)N@C(78) (M = Sc, Y, Lu, La) isomers were performed which have shown that the stability order of the isomers depends on the cluster size. While the Sc(3)N cluster is planar in the earlier reported Sc(3)N@C(78) (D(3)h: 24,109) clusterfullerenes, relatively large Y(3)N and Lu(3)N clusters would be forced to be pyramidal inside this cage, which would result in their destabilization. Instead, these clusters remain planar in the nonisolated pentagon rule (non-IPR) C(2): 22,010 isomer making Y(3)N@C(78) and Lu(3)N@C(78) clusterfullerenes with this cage structure the most stable ones. Finally, on the basis of a detailed analysis of their IR and Raman spectra supplemented with DFT vibrational calculations, the recently isolated Tm(3)N@C(78) and the major isomer of Dy(3)N@C(78) are assigned to the non-IPR C(2): 22,010 cage structure. A detailed assignment of their experimental and computed IR and Raman spectra is provided to support this conclusion and to exclude other cage isomers.  相似文献

Raman and photoacoustic (PA) infrared spectra of fluorene and four derivatives (2,3-benzofluorene, 2-methylfluorene, 2-ethylfluorene and 1,8-dimethylfluorene) were recorded and analyzed in this investigation. Mid- and far-infrared PA spectra were examined from about 2000 to 100 cm−1. The Raman spectra spanned the same wavenumber range. Observed bands in both PA and Raman spectra were compared with DFT (harmonic) and variational (anharmonic) calculations, and with published spectra. The DFT calculations provided single-molecule frequencies, whereas the variational method yielded results for both monomeric and dimeric species. Many previously unknown bands, including numerous features due to combination and overtone transitions, were identified and assigned in this work.  相似文献

Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed to study the monotungsten-oxide WO4 cluster in the anionic and neutral charge states. The results show the two most stable WO4- isomers have C2v and D2d symmetries and both have the four oxygen atoms attached to the tungsten W monomer atomically. The WO4- species previously suggested with a molecular adsorption of di-oxygen is found to be a metastable isomer of WO4-, whose geometric, vibrational properties and electron affinities are in good agreement with the ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS) experimental results. The reason why this metastable isomer could be observed in the experiment is given by a molecule formation mechanism. The UPS spectrums compare well with the excitation spectrum computed by time-dependent DFT method.  相似文献

An extended study of the spectroscopic and redox properties of the C(82) fullerene is presented. Among the nine isolated-pentagon-rule (IPR) isomers of the C(82) fullerene the C(82)(3) isomer with C(2) symmetry is the only stable, empty fullerene structure formed in the arc burning process that can be isolated in an isomerically pure form. Here, its formation and isolation are described and its structure is confirmed by experimental spectroscopic studies as well as time-dependent DFT calculations. The electrochemistry of the C(82)(3) isomer is studied in detail by cyclic voltammetry and spectroelectrochemistry. The anionic species of C(82) with the charge ranging from C(82) (-) to C(82) (4-) were successively generated in o-dichlorobenzene solution at room temperature and characterized by in situ ESR and visible/near-infrared (Vis/NIR) spectroscopy. The data give new insights into the charged states of the C(82)(3) fullerene.  相似文献

Rotational isomers (rotamers) of the three structural isomers of benzenedicarboxaldehydes (1,2-, 1,3-, and 1,4-derivatives) have been investigated in detail using matrix-isolation infrared spectroscopy in the 600-4000 cm-1 region, combined with UV photoexcitation and density-functional theory (DFT) calculations. Two rotamers were identified for 1,2- and 1,4-benzenedicarboxaldehyde (1,2- and 1,4-BDA, respectively), while three rotamers were identified for 1,3-benzenedicarboxaldehyde (1,3-BDA) in infrared spectra upon UV-irradiation. Most of the observed infrared bands of each rotamer have been assigned. The energetic relationships among the rotamers were revealed based on the infrared data and the DFT calculations. It is shown that the intramolecular C-H...H-C interaction in the H-syn rotamer or the C-H...O=C hydrogen bonding in the anti rotamer of 1,2-BDA results in the blue-shift of the aldehyde C-H stretching band and the shortening of the aldehyde C-H bond length. Both photoinduced rotational isomerization and rearrangement were observed upon UV irradiation for 1,2-BDA. The structure of the major enol isomer formed as the result of the photochemical rearrangement of 1,2-BDA is determined.  相似文献

The dependence of the preferred microhydration sites of 4‐aminobenzonitrile (4ABN) on electronic excitation and ionization is determined through IR spectroscopy of its clusters with water (W) in a supersonic expansion and through quantum chemical calculations. IR spectra of neutral 4ABN and two isomers of its hydrogen‐bonded (H‐bonded) 4ABN–W complexes are obtained in the ground and first excited singlet states (S0, S1) through IR depletion spectroscopy associated with resonance‐enhanced multiphoton ionization. Spectral analysis reveals that electronic excitation does not change the H‐bonding motif of each isomer, that is, H2O binding either to the CN or the NH site of 4ABN, denoted as 4ABN–W(CN) and 4ABN–W(NH), respectively. The IR spectra of 4ABN+–W in the doublet cation ground electronic state (D0) are measured by generating them either in an electron ionization source (EI‐IR) or through resonant multiphoton ionization (REMPI‐IR). The EI‐IR spectrum shows only transitions of the most stable isomer of the cation, which is assigned to 4ABN+–W(NH). The REMPI‐IR spectrum obtained through isomer‐selective resonant photoionization of 4ABN–W(NH) is essentially the same as the EI‐IR spectrum. The REMPI‐IR spectrum obtained by ionizing 4ABN–W(CN) is also similar to that of the 4ABN+–W(NH) isomer, but differs from that calculated for 4ABN+–W(CN), indicating that the H2O ligand migrates from the CN to the NH site upon ionization with a yield of 100 %. The mechanism of this CN→NH site‐switching reaction is discussed in the light of the calculated potential energy surface and the role of intracluster vibrational energy redistribution.  相似文献

In this work, we report the synthesis, spectroscopic characterization, and theoretical analysis of a linearly conjugated pentacene‐fused porphyrin dimer and cross‐conjugated quinone‐fused dinaphtho[2,3]porphyrins. These multichromophoric systems display non‐typical UV‐visible absorptions of either porphyrins or pentacenes/quinones. UV‐visible, emission and magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) spectroscopy suggest strong electronic interactions among the multichromophores in the system. DFT calculations revealed the delocalization of the HOMOs and LUMOs spanning the entire dimer and linker assembly. The pentacene‐fused porphyrin dimer is significantly more stable than both the corresponding pentacene and the heptacene derivatives. The availability of these huge π‐extended and electronically highly interactive multichromophoric systems promises unprecedented electronic and photophysical properties.  相似文献

A series of heteroleptic rare-earth sandwich complexes [M(Nc)(OEP)] (M = La, Nd, Eu, Dy, and Lu; Nc = 2,3-naphthalocyaninate; OEP = octaethylporphyrinate) have been investigated by electronic absorption and magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) spectroscopy. The electronic absorption spectra of the neutral forms showed two characteristic transitions (bands I and II) in the near-IR region, both of which were systematically shifted depending on the size of their central metal. In the MCD spectra, a relatively intense Faraday A term and a significantly weak Faraday B term have been observed corresponding to bands II and I, respectively. The spectral features were successfully interpreted using a simple MO model by considering the relevant interactions of Gouterman's four orbitals of the constituent chromophores. The model succeeded in assigning the MCD spectra of the related compounds, the oxidized and reduced forms of the dimer ([M(Nc)(OEP)]+ and [M(Nc)(OEP)]-), and neutral forms of the triple-decker compounds (M2(Nc)(OEP)2, M = Nd, Eu). DFT calculations of the dimers supported the validity of this model.  相似文献

[reaction: see text] The Baeyer-Villiger oxidation of (+)-(1R,5S)-bicyclo[3.3.1]nonane-2,7-dione, 1, can lead to four keto-lactone products, 2a-d. A single isomer is obtained experimentally. We have used IR and VCD spectroscopies to identify the structure of this product. DFT calculations of the IR and VCD spectra of 2a-d show unambiguously that the experimental product is (+)-(1R,6R)-2a, and not the expected product 2b. NMR studies, including comparison of DFT and experimental 1H and 13C spectra, support this conclusion. This work provides the first example of the use of VCD spectroscopy to discriminate between structural isomers of a chiral molecule. The specific rotation of (+)-(1R,6R)-2a, predicted using TDDFT methods, is negative demonstrating that absolute configurations determined from TDDFT calculations of specific rotations are not 100% reliable.  相似文献

The lithium salt of the anionic SPS pincer ligand composed of a central hypervalent lambda4-phosphinine ring bearing two ortho-positioned diphenylphosphine sulfide side arms reacts with [Mn(CO)5Br] to give fac-[Mn(SPS)(CO)3]. This isomer can be converted photochemically to mer-[Mn(SPS)(CO)3], with a very high quantum yield (0.80+/-0.05). The thermal backreaction is slow (taking ca. 8 h at room temperature), in contrast to rapid electrode-catalyzed mer-to-fac isomerization triggered by electrochemical reduction of mer-[Mn(SPS)(CO)3]. Both geometric isomers of [Mn(SPS)(CO)3] have been characterized by X-ray crystallography. Both isomers show luminescence from a low-lying 3IL (SPS-based) excited state. The light emission of fac-[Mn(SPS)(CO)3] is largely quenched by the efficient photoisomerization occurring probably from a low-lying Mn-CO dissociative excited state. Density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT calculations describe the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) of fac- and mer-[Mn(CO)3(SPS)] as ligand-centered orbitals, largely localized on the phosphinine ring of the SPS pincer ligand. In line with the ligand nature of its frontier orbitals, fac-[Mn(SPS)(CO)3] is electrochemically reversibly oxidized and reduced to the corresponding radical cation and anion, respectively. The spectroscopic (electron paramagnetic resonance, IR, and UV-vis) characterization of the radical species provides other evidence for the localization of the redox steps on the SPS ligand. The smaller HOMO-LUMO energy difference in the case of mer-[Mn(CO)3(SPS)], reflected in the electronic absorption and emission spectra, corresponds with its lower oxidation potential compared to that of the fac isomer. The thermodynamic instability of mer-[Mn(CO)3(SPS)], confirmed by the DFT calculations, increases upon one-electron reduction and oxidation of the complex.  相似文献

A detailed knowledge of the electronic structure and magnetic and optical properties of hemozoin, the malaria pigment, is essential for the design of effective antimalarial drugs and malarial diagnosis. By employing state‐of‐the‐art electronic structure calculations, we have performed an in‐depth investigation of the malaria pigment. Specifically, molecular bond lengths and spin states of the two FeIII heme centers and their exchange interaction, the UV/Vis absorption spectrum, and the IR vibrational spectra were calculated and compared with available experimental data. Our density functional theory (DFT)‐based calculations predict a singlet ground spin state that stems from an S=5/2 spin state on each of the Fe heme centers with a very weak antiferromagnetic exchange interaction between them. Our theoretical UV/Vis and IR spectra provide explanations for various spectroscopic studies of hemozoin and β‐hematin (a synthetic analogue of hemozoin). A good comparison of calculated and measured properties demonstrates the convincing unveiling of the electronic structure of the malaria pigment. Based on the predicted vibrational spectra, we propose a unique spectral band from the nuclear resonance vibrational spectroscopy (NRVS) results that could be used as a key fingerprint for malarial detection.  相似文献

In this paper the conformational landscape of amphetamine in the neutral ground state is examined by both spectroscopy and theory. Several spectroscopic methods are used: laser-induced fluorescence (LIF), resonance-enhanced two-photon ionization (R2PI), dispersed fluorescence and IR/R2PI hole burning spectroscopy. The latter two methods provide for the first time vibrationally resolved spectra of the neutral ground state of dl-amphetamine and the amphetamine–(H2O)1,2 complexes. Nine stable conformers of the monomer were found by DFT (B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p)) and ab initio (MP2/6-311++G(d,p)) calculations. For conformer analysis the vibrations observed in the IR/R2PI hole burning and dispersed fluorescence spectra obtained from single vibronic levels (SVLF) of a selected conformer were compared with the results of an ab initio normal mode analysis. By this procedure three S0 → S1 transitions in the R2PI spectrum were assigned to three different conformer structures. Another weak transition earlier attributed to another conformer could be assigned to a vibronic band of one of the three conformers. Furthermore spectra of amphetamine–(H2O)1,2 are tentatively assigned.  相似文献

Diruthenium ethynyl complexes 1 – 3 ( 1 : 1,5‐dithia‐s‐indacene‐4,8‐dione; 2 : 4,8‐diethoxybenzo[1,2‐b:4,5‐ b']dithiophene; 3 : 4,8‐didodecyloxybenzo[1,2‐b:4,5‐b']dithiophene) have been synthesized by incorporating the respective conjugated heterocyclic spacer and characterized by NMR and elemental analysis. The effects of bridge ligands’ properties on electronic coupling between redox‐active ruthenium terminal groups were investigated by electrochemistry, UV /vis/near‐IR and IR spectroelectrochemistry combined with density functional theory (DFT ) and time‐dependent DFT calculations. Electrochemistry results indicated that complexes 1 – 3 exhibit two fully reversible oxidation waves, and complexes 2 and 3 with electron‐rich and π‐conjuagted bridge ligands are characterized by excellent electrochemical properties. Furthermore, the larger ν(C ≡ C) separation from the IR spectroelectrochemical results of 2 and 3 and the intense NIR absorption features of singly oxidized species 2 + and 3 + revealed that their molecular skeletons have superior abilities to delocalize the positive charge. The spin density distribution from DFT calculations proved the conclusions of this study.  相似文献

Reduced symmetry phthalocyanines are finding use in an increasing number of industrial applications. A detailed understanding of the electronic structure of the pi-system will greatly facilitate the design of new complexes, which fit the specifications required in many of these emerging high technology fields. NMR, electronic absorption, magnetic circular dichroism (MCD), and fluorescence emission and excitation spectra have been recorded for five generic metal phthalocyanine (MPc) derivatives in which additional benzene rings are fused either radially or obliquely onto at least one of the four peripheral benzo groups. The spectroscopy of four radially substituted compounds, zinc mononaphthotribenzotetraazaporphyrine (Zn3B1N), zinc monobenzotrinaphthotetraazaporphyrine (Zn1B3N), and two cis and trans zinc dibenzodinaphthotetraazaporphyrine (Zn2B2N) isomers, is compared to that of the obliquely fused structural isomer of Zn3B1N (Zn3BoN) and the D(4)(h)() symmetry parent compounds, ZnPc and zinc naphthalocyanine (ZnNc). The selection of Zn(II) as the central metal eliminates the possibility of charge transfer between the metal and ring. None of the complexes studied contain any sigma-bonded peripheral substituents. (1)H NMR signals of the seven compounds are assigned on the basis of the coupling patterns, integrated proton numbers, and decoupling experiments. The SIMPFIT program was used to perform spectral band deconvolution analyses of absorption and MCD spectra. ZINDO molecular orbital calculations are described, and the optical spectra are assigned on the basis of the MO models that have been developed previously to account for the spectral properties of metal porphyrin (MP(-2)) and metal phthalocyanine (MPc(-2)) complexes.  相似文献

The spectroscopic characterization of corannulene (C20H10) is carried out by several techniques. The high purity of the material synthesized for this study was confirmed by gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry (GC‐MS). During a high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) process, the absorption spectrum of corannulene in the ultraviolet (UV) and visible (vis) ranges is obtained. The infrared (IR) absorption spectrum is measured in CsI pellets, and the Raman scattering spectrum is recorded for pure crystal grains. In addition to room temperature measurements, absorption spectroscopy in an argon matrix at 12 K is also performed in the IR and UV/Vis ranges. The experimental spectra are compared with theoretical Raman and IR spectra and with calculated electronic transitions. All calculations are based on the density functional theory (DFT), either normal or time‐dependent (TDDFT). Our results are discussed in view of their possible application in the search for corannulene in the interstellar medium.  相似文献
