Curvature collineations for the curvature tensor, constructed from a fundamental Bianchi Type-V metric, are studied. We prove that a Lanczos potential L abc for the Weyl candidate tensor W abcd does not generally exist for dimensions higher than four. The technique is simply to assume the existence of such a potential in dimension n, and then check the integrability conditions for the assumed system of differential equations; if the integrability conditions yield another non-trivial differential system for L abc and W abcd, then this system's integrability conditions should be checked, and so on. When we find a non-trivial condition involving only W abcd and its derivatives, then clearly Weyl candidate tensors failing to satisfy that condition cannot be written in terms of a Lanczos potential L abc.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is the study of three-dimensional Lorentzian manifolds whose Ricci tensor has three equal constant eigenvalues, whose associated eigenspace is two-dimensional. A complete local classification of this class of curvature homogeneous manifolds is presented. It turns out that, if the eigenvalue is zero, these are exactly the curvature homogeneous manifolds modelled on an indecomposable, non-irreducible Lorentzian symmetric space, which were first studied in Cahen etaal. (1990), and the techniques presented in this paper can therefore be applied to obtain a complete (local) classification of these manifolds, and to construct a number of new examples of such manifolds.  相似文献

This paper describes the start of an investigation into the application of classical invariant theory to scalar polynomial invariants of the Riemann tensor. In particular, the classical methods of enumerating invariants are discussed with the aim, not achieved in this paper, of verifying Sneddon's result, obtained by explicit calculation of the invariants that the dimension of a Hilbert basis is 38.  相似文献

We investigate the possibility of existence of a symmetric potential HABAB=H(AB)(AB′) for a symmetric (3,1)-spinor LABCA, e.g., a Lanczos potential of the Weyl spinor, as defined by the equation LABCA=(ABHBC)AB. We prove that in all Einstein space–times such a symmetric potential HABAB exists. Potentials of this type have been found earlier in investigations of some very special spinors in restricted classes of space–times. A tensor version of this result is also given. We apply similar ideas and results by Illge to Maxwell’s equations in a curved space–time.  相似文献

The Lanczos Potential is a theoretical useful tool to find the conformal Weyl curvature tensor C abcd of a given relativistic metric. In this paper we find the Lanczos potential L abc for the van Stockung vacuum gravitational field. The derivative of the isotropic tensor function plays an important part in continuum mechanics and computational mechanics, and also it is still an opening problem. By means of a scalar response function fi, I 1, I 2) and solving a tensor equation, this problem is well studied. A compact explicit expression for the derivative of the isotropic tensor function is presented, which is valid for both distinct and repeated eigenvalue cases. Throughout the analysis, the formulation holds for general isotropic tensor functions without need to solve eigenvector problems or determine coefficients. On the theoretical side, a very simple solution of a tensor equation is obtained. As an application to continuum mechanics, a base-free expression for the Hill’s strain rate is given, which is more compact than the existent results. Finally, with an example we compute the derivative of an exponent tensor function. And the efficiency of the present formulations is demonstrated. We dedicate this work with deep respect and admiration to the memory of Prof. Gao Yuchen.  相似文献

The bound state solutions of Dirac equations for a trigonometric Scarf potential with a new tensor potential under spin and pseudospin symmetry limits are investigated using Romanovski polynomials. The proposed new tensor potential is inspired by superpotential form in supersymmetric(SUSY) quantum mechanics. The Dirac equations with trigonometric Scarf potential coupled by a new tensor potential for the pseudospin and spin symmetries reduce to Schrdinger-type equations with a shape invariant potential since the proposed new tensor potential is similar to the superpotential of trigonometric Scarf potential. The relativistic wave functions are exactly obtained in terms of Romanovski polynomials and the relativistic energy equations are also exactly obtained in the approximation scheme of centrifugal term. The new tensor potential removes the degeneracies both for pseudospin and spin symmetries.  相似文献
