A new nonlinear optical semiorganic crystal, benzyltributylammonium trichlorobarium(II) monohydrate was grown by slow evaporation solution growth method at ambient temperature. The powder X-ray diffraction pattern of the crystal confirms its crystallinity. The absorption spectrum of the material shows a peak at 265 nm and no absorption observed in the entire visible region indicates that the compound can be used as a nonlinear optical material. The optical transmittance spectrum of the grown crystal shows a lower cut-off wavelength at 235 nm with transparency of 88%. Thermal stability of the crystal was studied by thermogravimetry-differential thermogravimetry and differential thermal analyses (TG-DTG and DTA). The differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis shows thermal anomalies in the heating and cooling cycles that indicates the occurrence of a first order phase transition. The various characteristics absorption chemical bands and BaCl3 vibration were assigned through fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectral analysis. The second harmonic generation efficiency (SHG) of the grown crystal was analyzed by Kurtz–Perry powder technique using Nd:YAG laser. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the compound decrease with increase in frequency.  相似文献

2-Furoic acid (2FA), an organic third order nonlinear optical single crystal, has been synthesized and grown successfully by slow solvent evaporation technique. The space group and lattice parameters of the grown crystals were obtained by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The presence of the functional groups was confirmed by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Optical absorption studies reveal low absorption in the UV and visible regions and the UV cut-off wavelength is found to be at 240 nm. The thermal stability of the material examined by TGA analysis, reveals that the material is thermally stable up to 130 °C. The third order nonlinear optical parameters (nonlinear refractive index, nonlinear absorption coefficient and real and imaginary parts of the third order nonlinear optical susceptibility) were derived by Z-scan technique. This reveals that the crystal has a negative refractive index, which indicates the defocusing nature of the material.  相似文献

Single crystal of potassium dichromate (KDC) has been grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique. The lattice parameters of the grown crystal were determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The optical absorption studies reveal that the crystal has UV cut-off wavelength around 240 nm. Thermo gravimetric and differential thermal (TGA/DTA) studies revealed that the crystal thermally stable up to 397.1 °C. The mechanical strength of the grown crystal was carried out by Vickers micro hardness test. The crystal perfection was confirmed by etching studies. Third order nonlinear optical studies was performed using by single beam Z-scan technique using continuous Nd:YAG laser. Closed aperture Z-scan studies reveal the negative nonlinearity in the crystals and open aperture Z-scan reveals the saturation absorption. Also various parameters such as nonlinear refractive index n2, absorption co-efficient β and nonlinear optical susceptibility χ(3) were calculated for the grown crystal.  相似文献

Allylthiourea cadmium bromide (ATCB) is a promising organometallic second order nonlinear optical material. ATCB was synthesized in Millipore water and single crystals of ATCB were grown by isothermal solvent evaporation as well as by conventional temperature lowering methods. Crystal structure of the as grown ATCB was analyzed by single crystal X-ray diffraction and also by powder X-ray diffraction pattern. Structural perfection of the as grown single crystal was studied through multicrystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The nature of co-ordination and the functional groups present were investigated by the Fourier transform infrared spectrum. The melting point of the crystal was studied through differential scanning calorimetric analysis. The optical absorption spectrum of the as grown crystal exhibits the lower cut-off (295 nm) with the wide transparent UV–VIS–NIR wave band. The SHG property was identified by Kurt’z powder technique. The linear refractive index of the as grown crystal was measured for different laser wavelengths. The reverse indentation size effect for the as grown crystal was confirmed from the mechanical studies. Growth mechanism and surface features of the as grown single crystals were analyzed by chemical etching analysis.  相似文献

In this paper, we report the growth and characterization of hydroxyethylammonium (l) tartrate monohydrate single crystals grown by slow evaporation solution technique. The X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the crystal belongs to the monoclinic system having P21 space group. Photoinduced optical absorption effects were studied on the crystalline samples irradiated with CW 532 nm (green) and 689 nm (red) laser wavelengths. The relative second harmonic generation efficiency of the title crystal was found to be 1.4 times larger than that of KDP crystal. The thermal, mechanical, dielectric and optical studies of the single crystals were carried out to propose the material for useful applications. The reflectance and refractive indices were also evaluated from optical transmission spectrum. Further the electronic excitation calculations were carried out to understand the charge transfer mechanisms.  相似文献

In this work, a new semi-organic nonlinear optical material of Potassium boro-oxalate (KBO) is synthesized and subsequently a single crystal of size 7 × 5 × 3 mm3 is grown from the aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique at ambient temperature. Characterizations are performed on the single crystals to study the structural, thermal, linear and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of the as-grown single crystals. Crystal and molecular structure of KBO are solved by direct method and further refinement is performed by full-matrix least-square method employing SHELXL-2014 software. Single crystal X-ray diffraction (SXRD) studies revealed that the grown crystal associates to triclinic crystal family with non-centrosymmetric space group P1. The Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrum reflected the presence of various functional groups in the title compound. The Ultraviolet-visible-near infrared (UV-VIS-NIR) absorption and transmission spectrum are recorded to capture the suitability of the grown single crystals for various optical and NLO applications. The thermal decomposition and thermal stability of the KBO single crystals up to 187°C are investigated by TGA-DTG (Thermo Gravimetric - Differential Thermo Gravimetric), TGA-DTA (Thermo Gravimetric-Differential Thermal analysis) and DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry) curves. Kurtz-Perry powder technique is employed to explore the SHG (Second Harmonic Generation) efficiency of the KBO single crystals. SHG efficiency of KBO is found to be comparable to KDP.  相似文献

Single crystals of 2-aminomethylpyridinium picrate (2-AMPP) were grown by slow evaporation-solution growth technique at room temperature. The cell and structural parameters of the grown crystal were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The characteristic functional groups in the compound were identified from Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The transmission and absorption spectra of this crystal show that the lower cut-off wavelength lies at 360 nm. Thermal analysis was performed to study the thermal stability of the grown crystal. The powder second harmonic generation efficiency of the grown crystal measured by Kurtz technique is 2 times efficient than potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate (KDP). Vicker's microhardness test showed that the hardness value increases with increasing the applied load up to 50 g. The dielectric measurements of the compound in the frequency region from 50 Hz to 5 MHz showed that the material has lesser defects and can be used for optical application.  相似文献

The single crystals of pure and Potassium doped L-alanine cadmium chloride (LACC), a metallo organic nonlinear optical material is grown by a slow evaporation technique. The grown crystals were confirmed by single crystal, powder XRD analyses and atomic absorption studies. Dielectric measurements were carried out for different frequencies at different temperatures. The dielectric constant decreases due to the introduction of large ionic radius K+ ion in the pure LACC crystal. The low dielectric constant and dielectric loss suggest that it can be used as inter-metal dielectric material.  相似文献
