In a magnetic field parallel to the magnetization axis of an antiferromagnetic Fe Br2 single crystal, a caracteristic metamagnetic behaviour is observed. The transition from an antiferromagnetic phase to a paramagnetic phase is studied by help of magnetization measurements in a steady field (H < 60 kOe). The measurement precision has allowed a detailed study of the magnetization isotherms, caracteristic of a first order magnetization phase transition (T < Tc = 4, 7 K) and of a second order phase transition (Tc < T < TN = 14, 2 K).We have observed an original phase diagram. In a certain temperature and field range, the ordered phase is stable on the high temperature side of the transition point. Some theoretical studies in an Ising model, or in the hypothesis of a strong magnetoelastic coupling forecast the existence of such a magnetic phase diagram. At present, we proceed to a theoretical study, in a molecular field approximation, of the magnetic phase diagram of compounds similar to Fe Br2 where we take into account the relative values of parameters J1, J2 and D associated with ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interactions and crystalline anisotropy.  相似文献

We report here on critical analysis across magnetic phase transition and spin dynamics in Gd2CoMnO6. We found that this material behaves differently below and above the applied magnetic field of 20 kOe. The magnetic phase transition switches from nearly mean-field type to unusual class and Tc shifts towards the high temperature above 20 kOe field. The nature of the magnetic phase transition is explored by carrying out critical analysis at low as well as at high magnetic field. The critical exponents obtained at low field using Kouvel-Fisher method are β = 0.65 (2) γ = 0.90 (2), δ = 2.43 and Tc = 120 K. Apparently, these values of critical exponents appear close to mean-field model. For high field the critical exponents are β = 1.24 (2) γ = 0.64 (5), δ = 1.51 (3) and Tc = 128 K. The critical exponents show significant deviation from any universal class. This switchover in the nature of the magnetic phase transition is unique and not seen in many compounds. The formation of non-Griffiths-like clusters in this compound can be a reason for such unique behavior. Further, ac susceptibility has been measured to understand the spin dynamics in detail. The dispersion of frequency-dependent χac below Tc confirms a spin glass state in this material. The observed value of τo and To indicate the slow dynamic spin which is caused by co-existence of Co/Mn spin magnetic moments. The magneto-caloric effect is also presented for Gd2CoMnO6 in this study. The magnetic study and critical analysis across the phase transition reveal a switchover in the nature of phase transition in this material. A non-Griffiths like cluster formation above Tc is found and dynamic susceptibility study reveals a spin glass state below Tc in Gd2CoMnO6.  相似文献

CeAgAs2, an HfCuSi2 like layered pnictide, orders antiferromagnetically at TN=6.2(1) K. The ordering process was monitored in neutron diffraction experiments in the temperature range 10 K≥T≥3.5 K. At T=4 K the lattice parameters are a=5.7438(1) Å, b=5.7696(1) Å and c=21.0067(2) Å. The diffraction pattern of the antiferromagnetic phase with a propagation vector k=[0,0,0] point towards ferromagnetically ordered moments in Ce layers stacked along [001], the individual layers are coupled antiferromagnetically with a +− −+type sequence. The alignment of moments within the Ce layers cannot be determined reliably from the experimental data so that two different structure models are discussed. The proposed metamagnetic transition was confirmed by diffraction experiments applying an external magnetic field at T<TN. In the interval 4 K≤T≤6 K, a relatively small field of μ0H≈0.3 T suffices to fully suppress the antiferromagnetic ordering. The effect is completely reversible yet subject to hysteresis: After switching off the external field at any T<TN the magnetic reflections gain their original intensity within several 10 min indicating the restoring of the antiferromagnetic phase.  相似文献

Magnetic and Mössbauer characterization of single crystalline, sub-micron sized Bi2Fe4O9 cubes has been performed using SQUID magnetometry and transmission Mössbauer spectroscopy in the temperature range of 4.2 K ≤ T ≤ 300 K. A broad magnetic phase transition from the paramagnetic to the anti-ferromagnetic state is observed below 250 K, with the Mössbauer spectra exhibiting a superposition of magnetic, collapsed and quadrupolar spectra in the transition region of 200 K < T < 245 K. Room temperature Mössbauer spectra obtained in transmission geometry are identical to those recorded in back-scattering geometry via conversion electron Mössbauer spectroscopy, indicating the absence of strain at the surface. A small hysteresis loop is observed in SQUID measurements at 5 K, attributable to the presence of weak-ferromagnetism arising from the canting of Fe3+ ion sublattices in the antiferromagnetic matrix.  相似文献

In the compound MnBi, a first-order transition from the paramagnetic to the ferromagnetic state can be triggered by an applied magnetic field and the Curie temperature increases nearly linearly with an increase in magnetic field by ∼2 K/T. Under a field of 10 T, TC increases by 20 and 22 K during heating and cooling, respectively. Under certain conditions a reversible magnetic field or temperature induced transition between the paramagnetic and ferromagnetic states can occur. A magnetic and crystallographic H-T phase diagram for MnBi is given. Magnetic properties of MnBi compound aligned in a Bi matrix have been investigated. In the low temperature phase MnBi, a spin-reorientation takes place during which the magnetic moments rotate from being parallel to the c-axis towards the basal plane at ∼90 K. A measuring Dc magnetic field applied parallel to the c-axis of MnBi suppresses partly the spin-reorientation transition. Interestingly, the fabricated magnetic field increases the temperature of spin-reorientation transition Ts and the change in magnetization for MnBi. For the sample solidified under 0.5 T, the change in magnetization is ∼70% and Ts is ∼91 K.  相似文献

Magnetic properties and magnetic entropy change ΔS were investigated in Heusler alloy Ni43Mn43Co3Sn11. With decreasing temperature this alloy undergoes a martensitic structural transition at TM=188 K. The incorporation of Co atoms enhances ferromagnetic exchange for parent phases. Austenitic phase with cubic structure shows strong ferromagnetic behaviors with Curie temperature TCA at 346 K, while martensitic phase shows weak ferromagnetic properties. An external magnetic field can shift TM to a lower temperature at a rate of 4.4 K/T, and a field-induced structural transition from martensitic to austenitic state takes place at temperatures near but below TM. As a result, a great magnetic entropy change with positive sign appears. The size of ΔS reaches 33 J/kg K under 5 T magnetic field. More important is that the ΔS displays a table-like peak under 5 T, which is favorable for Ericsson-type refrigerators.  相似文献

The phase diagram of the Ising model in the presence of nearest-neighbor (J1) and next-nearest-neighbor (J2) interactions on a square lattice is studied within the framework of the differential operator technique. The Hamiltonian is solved by effective-field theory in finite cluster (we have chosen N=4 spins). We have proposed a functional for the free energy (similar to Landau expansion) to obtain the phase diagram in the (T,α) space (α=J2/J1), where the transition line from the superantiferromagnetic (SAF) to the paramagnetic (P) phase is of first-order in the range 1/2<α<0.95 in contrast to previous study of CVM (Cluster Variational Method) that predict first-order transition for α=1.0. Our results for α=1.0 are in accordance with MC (Monte Carlo) simulations, that predict a second-order transition.  相似文献

La0.8Sr0.2Co1−xFexO3 (x=0.15, 0.2, 0.3) samples were studied by means of AC magnetic susceptibility, magnetization, magnetoresistance and 57Fe Mössbauer spectrometry. Iron was found to take on a high spin 3d5−α electronic state in each of the samples, where α refers to a partly delocalized 3d electron. The compounds were found to exhibit a spin-cluster glass transition with a common transition temperature of ∼53 K. The spin-cluster glass transition is visualized in the 57Fe Mössbauer spectra as the slowing down of magnetic relaxation below ∼70 K, thereby showing that iron takes part in the formation of the glassy magnetic phase. The paramagnetic-like phase found at higher temperatures is identified below Tc≈195 K as being composed of weakly interacting, magnetically ordered nanosized clusters of magnetic ions in part with a magnetic moment oriented opposite to the net magnetic moment of the cluster. For each of the samples a considerable low-temperature negative magnetoresistance was found, whose magnitude in the studied range decreases with increasing iron concentration. The observed results obtained on the present compounds are qualitatively explained assuming that the absolute strengths of magnetic exchange interactions are subject to the relation ∣JCo–Co∣<∣JFe–Co∣<∣JFe–Fe∣.  相似文献

Magnetisation and magneto-resistance measurements have been carried out on superconducting Ba1?xKxFe2As2 samples with x = 0.40 and 0.50. From high field magnetization hysteresis measurements carried out in fields up to 16 T at 4.2 K and 20 K, the critical current density has been evaluated using the Bean critical state model. The JC determined from the high field data is >104 A/cm2 at 4.2 K and 5 T. The superconducting transitions were also measured resistively in increasing applied magnetic fields up to 12 T. From the variation of the TC onset with applied field, dHC2/dT at TC was obtained to be ?7.708 T/K and ?5.57 T/K in the samples with x = 0.40 and 0.50.  相似文献

The ground-state magnetic properties of a two-sublattice Ising metamagnet in a mixed longitudinal and transverse magnetic field are studied within the effective-field theory. A parameter j2=J2/J1 is introduced, which reflects the strength ratio of spin coupling between adjacent planes and in each plane. In addition to the second-order transition lines, the first-order transition lines are also presented, since the ground-state energy can be calculated numerically. The ground-state phase diagrams in hxhz are presented. The results show that when j2<0 the phase transition of the system is always first-order for hx<2.751, and when −1000?j2<0 it is always second-order for hx>4.36. For the given hx (0<hx<14.71), the longitudinal critical magnetic field increases as j2 decreases. The reentrant phenomenon occurs in the range of j2<−11.89, hx>14.71. There is no fourth-order critical point in the phase diagrams given by using EFT as found by using mean field theory (MFT).  相似文献

An effective-field theory with correlations has been used to study critical behaviors of a mixed spin-1 and spin-2 Ising system on a honeycomb and square lattices in the absence and presence of a longitudinal magnetic field. The ground-state phase diagram of the model is obtained in the longitudinal magnetic field (h) and a single-ion potential or crystal-field interaction (Δ) plane. The thermal behavior of the sublattice magnetizations of the system are investigated to characterize the nature of (continuous and discontinuous) of the phase transitions and obtain the phase transition temperature. The phase diagrams are presented in the (Δ/|J|, kBT/|J|) plane. The susceptibility, internal energy and specific heat of the system are numerically examined and some interesting phenomena in these quantities are found due to the absence and presence of the applied longitudinal magnetic field. Moreover, the system undergoes second- and first-order phase transition; hence, the system gives a tricritical point. The system also exhibits reentrant behavior.  相似文献

Single crystal of a new [(CH3)2CHNH3]4Cd3Cl10 compound was grown and its properties have been characterized by dielectric and dilatometric investigations. Dielectric measurement evidenced the phase transitions at T1 = 352.8 K, T2 = 293.5 K and T3 = 261.5 K on cooling run. Dilatometric measurement of thermal expansion showed clearly two successive phase transitions at T1 and at T2. No temperature hysteresis was observed for phase transitions at T1 and T2. Large temperature hysteresis was observed at T3 in dielectric studies. Transitions at T1 and T3 are classified as a first order and at T2 as a continuous one. Anomalies of electric permittivity and expansion connected with the transitions are observed at practically the same temperatures and close to those observed earlier in DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry) studies. Results of dilatometric studies were applied to estimate critical coefficient β for continuous phase transition at T1 which is equal to 0.40 ± 0.01.  相似文献

AC susceptibility and DC magnetization measurements were performed for the RPdIn (R=Gd–Er) compounds both in the paramagnetic and in the ordered state. In opposite to GdPdIn, which is a ferromagnet (Tc=102 K), the other samples show a complex ferrimagnetic behavior with the additional transition at Tt<Tc. In the high-temperature phase (for Tt<T<Tc), a ferromagnetic interaction dominates, while in the low-temperature phase (for TTt) antiferromagnetic interactions with the magnetocrystalline anisotropy, especially strong for TbPdIn, come into play. The ordering temperatures are Tc=70, 34, 25 and 12.3 K for Tb-, Dy-, Ho- and ErPdIn respectively, while transition temperatures are Tt=6, 14 and 6 K for Tb-, Dy- and HoPdIn respectively. TbPdIn reveals an additional transition at 27 K connected with the intermediate ferrimagnetic phase. The critical fields for the magnetization process of the low-temperature phase are high (52 and 150 kOe for TbPdIn and 32 kOe for DyPdIn at T=4.2 K) yet these values decrease remarkably with increasing temperature. Results of the study are compared with magnetic and neutron diffraction data hitherto available. We state that irreversibility of the zero-field cooled–field cooled magnetization is not connected with the spin-glass phase claimed elsewhere.  相似文献

We have studied the variation of low field magnetization hysteresis in YBa2Cu3O7 as a function of the maximum magnetic field applied during a hysteresis cycle (1 G<H max<7.3 G) and also as a function of temperature (77 K<T<95 K). The remnant magnetization is studied as a function ofH max andT and the measured dependences are explained using the extended critical state model. The potential of this technique as a contactless method of probing the temperature dependence ofJ c is discussed.  相似文献

We studied the effects of the partial substitution (10%) of praseodymium by samarium and bismuth, on the structural, magnetic, magnetocaloric and electrical properties of the Pr0.63A0.07Sr0.3MnO3 (A=Pr, Sm and Bi) manganites prepared using the solid state reaction. Refinement of the X-ray diffraction patterns shows that all our samples are single phase and crystallize in the orthorhombic structure with Pnma space group. Magnetic studies indicate that all the samples exhibit a ferromagnetic–paramagnetic transition with increasing temperature. Curie temperature TC decreases by substitution. M(H) curves indicate the presence of some antiferromagnetic domains in the substituted samples testifying the phase-separated nature of these samples. The magnetic entropy curves –ΔS(T) show a maximum in vicinity of TC. Important values of maximum of −ΔS are recorded for our compounds. For the parent compound, we found 4.59 J/kg K for an applied magnetic field of 2 T at TC=266 K which raises the possibility of using this compound as a magnetic refrigerant. The temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity ρ(T) indicates that all compounds exhibit a metal-insulator transition with increasing temperature. Electrical study suggests the presence of a correlation between electrical and magnetic properties.  相似文献

Isothermal magnetization M(t) in nanocrystalline single-phase B1 MoCy encapsulated in multiwall carbon nanocages is studied within the time window of 100 < t < 5000 s. The current density J exhibits a linear logarithmic time decay. The effective activation energy Ueff increases linearly with increasing temperature T, and decreases linearly with increasing J. The behaviors of J(t), Ueff(T), and Ueff(J) can be described by the Anderson–Kim flux-creep model for thermally activated motion of uncorrelated vortices or vortex bundles over a net potential barrier Ueff. The slower relaxation of current density above the broad peak field in the isothermal magnetization curves suggests that the peak is a result of vortex dynamics.  相似文献

Basing on the two-spin-per-site Heisenberg model, the effect of single-ion uniaxial anisotropy on the phase diagrams of magnetic system in the presence of internal spin fluctuation has been investigated by use of the mean field theory. It was found that single-ion uniaxial anisotropy has important effect on the phase digrams. In the ferromagnetic case (J3>0) the positive single-ion uniaxial anisotropies (D) suppress the internal spin fluctuation and raise the phase trasition temperature, and negative single-ion uniaxial anisotropies (D) increase the internal spin fluctuation and reduce the phase trasition temperature. In the antiferromagnetic case (J3<0), there exist two critical values Jc1 and Jc2 (|Jc2|<|Jc1|) in the positive D values. In the |J3|<|Jc2| range intra-spin exchange coupling prevails inter-spin exchange coupling, the positive D values suppress the internal spin fluctuation and raise the phase transition temperature. In the |J3|>|Jc1| range the two sub-spins behave as a rigid spin and the positive D values make the reduction of the phase transition temperature. We also observe that the larger D values make the range of internal spin fluctuation to move towards the larger |J3| range.  相似文献

A systematic study of the conventional and inverse magnetocaloric effects, and critical behaviors in an alloy ingot of Ni43Mn46Sn8In3 has been performed. Our results reveal the sample exhibiting structural and magnetic phase transitions at temperatures TCM = 166 K (TC of the martensitic phase), TM–A = 260 K (the martensitic-to-austenitic phase transformation) and TCA = 296 K (TC of the austenitic phase). The large values of refrigerant capacity (RC) around TM–A and TCA are found to be RCM–A = 172.6 and RCA = 155.9 J kg−1, respectively, under an applied field change of 30 kOe. Our critical analyses near the TCM and TCA reveal that a coexistence of the long- and short-range ferromagnetic order in the martensitic phase, while the long-range ferromagnetic order exists in the austenitic phase. Interestingly, at around TCA, the maximum magnetic entropy change (|ΔSmax|) versus magnetic field H obeys a power law, |ΔSmax| = a·Hn, where the exponent n is found to be about 0.66.  相似文献

A systematic study of the intergranular properties of (Bi,Pb)2Sr2Ca2Cu3Oy (Bi2223) polycrystalline samples has been done using the electrical resistivity and Ac susceptibility techniques. In this project, we have prepared a series of Bi2223 samples with different sintering temperature. The XRD results show that by increasing sintering temperature up to 865 °C the Bi2212 phase fraction decrease. It was found that the Bi2212 phase on the grain boundaries is likely to play the role of weak links and consequently reduces the intergranular critical current densities. Analysis of the temperature dependence of the Ac susceptibility near the transition temperature (Tc) has been done employing Bean's Critical State Model. The observed variation of intergranular critical current densities (Jc) with temperature indicates that the weak links are changed from superconductor–normal metal–superconductor (SNS) for well-coupled sample to superconductor–insulator–superconductor (SIS) type of junctions for the sample with high Bi2212 phase fraction.  相似文献

In this work, the magnetic properties of the single layer Ising nanogaphene (SLING) are investigated by using Kaneyoshi approach (KA) within the effective field theory for different spin orientations of its magnetic atoms. We find that the magnetizations of the SLING has no phase transition, certain Curie temperature and distinct peak of susceptibility at Tc for the some spin orientations at the zero external magnetic field (H=0.0). Because these behaviors occur at H≠0.0, we suggest that the SLING generates an external magnetic field and behaves as an external magnetic field generator for these spin orientations. However, the SLING exhibits ferromagnetic behaviors for only one spin orientations. But, it exhibits antiferromagnetic behaviors for the others. For the AFM cases, diamagnetic susceptibility behaviors and type II superconductivity hysteresis behaviors are obtained. We hope that these results can open a door to obtain new class of single layer graphene and graphene-based magnetic field generator devices with the spin orientation effect.  相似文献
