In this paper there is proved a generalization of the results of Whitehead and Pontryagin on the homotopy classification of closed, simply connected four-manifolds. Let W and M be compact four-dimensional simply connected oriented four-manifolds. By qw is denoted the intersection index on the group H2(W).Basic Result. THEOREM (Extension). Let X be a Banach space, DX, f: [0,)xDX continuous and -periodic. In this paper we consider various conditions on D and f sufficient for existence of an -periodic solution of the differential equation u=f(t,u). In the main, we shall assume that D is closed bounded and convex and f satisfies a boundary condition at D such that D is flow invariant for u=f(t,u). This paper is a continuation of RZhMat 1980, 5A439, where there was introduced the subgroup () of the Chevalley group G(,R) of type over a commutative ring R that corresponds to a net , i.e., to a set =(),, of ideals of R such that + whenever ,,+ . It is proved that if the ring R is semilocal, then () coincides with the group 0 considered earlier in RZhMat 1976, 10A151; 1977, 10A301; 1978, 6A476. For this purpose there is constructed a decomposition of () into a product of unipotent subgroups and a torus. The classical Gauss-Bonnet formula has the form I(gij)=2, where I(gij) represents a sum of three terms each of which depends on the metric tensor gij. It is shown that the first variation I of I(gij) with respect to the metric gij vanishes and that for the Euclidean metric ij we have I(ij)=2. From this the formula I(gij)=2 follows. In the process, explicit expressions are obtained for the first variation of each of the three terms which comprise I(gij). Furthermore, a general expression for the first variation of a multiple integral whose integrand is a scalar density depending on the metric tensor gij and its derivatives up to the second order is obtained with the aid of results of Rund [1].  相似文献

Let S be a cancellative semigroup which is a semilattice of left reversible semigroups S, . This article studies the relationship between the group of quotients G of S and the groups of quotients G of S, . It is shown that G is the maximum group homomorphic image of an inverse semigroup which is a semilattice of groups G (up to isomorphism).The technique used here which involves the use of Ore's quotients also applies to the study of the maximum group homomorphic image of a semigroup which is a semilattice of inverse semigroups.  相似文献

Numerical calculations are carried out in the hodograph plane to construct optimal critical airfoil shapes and the flow about them. These optimal airfoil shapes give the highest free-stream Mach numberM for a given thickness ratio and tail angle t (nonlifting) for which the flow is nowhere supersonic. A relationship betweenM and for various t is given. Analytical and numerical solutions to the same problem are found on the basis of transonic small-disturbance theory. These results provide a limiting case asM 1, 0 and agree well with the calculations of the full problem. Using a numerical method to calculate the flow about general (subsonic) airfoils, a comparison is made between the critical free-stream Mach numbers for some standard airfoil shapes and the optimal free stream Mach number of the corresponding and t . A significant increase in the critical free-stream Mach number is found for the optimal airfoils.  相似文献

Summary In this paper we consider the problem of holomorphic continuation and removal of singularities of the CR functions given on K, where is a generic manifold with nondegenerate Levi form and K is a meromorphically p-convex compactum. We get some conditions on , relative to p-convexity and q-concavity, under which every integrable CR function given on K extends holomorphically in some domain \K, where is a wedge domain with edge . Let 1, 2, ... be a sequence of independent identically distributed random variables with zero means. We consider the functional n = k=o n (S k ) where S1=0, Sk= i=1 k i (k1) and(x)=1 for x0,(x) = 0 for x<0. It is readily seen that n is the time spent by the random walk Sn, n0, on the positive semi-axis after n steps. For the simplest walk the asymptotics of the distribution P (n = k) for n and k, as well as for k = O(n) and k/n<1, was studied in [1].
