We treat the time-harmonic Maxwell equations with the boundary condition (ν, E) = (ν, H) = 0 in an exterior multiply connected domain. A uniqueness result by Yee for the case of a simply connected domain is extended to multiply connected domains and existence is obtained by a boundary integral equation approach.  相似文献

 Let be a parametric variational double integral and γ ⊂ ℝ n be a system of several distinct Jordan curves. We prove the existence of multiply connected, conformally parametrized minimizers of spanned in γ by solving the Douglas problem for parametric functionals on multiply connected schlicht domains. As a by-product we obtain a simple isoperimetric inequality for multiply connected -minimizers, and we discuss regularity results up to the boundary which follow from corresponding results for the Plateau problem. It is known that the region V(s) of a simple polygon P, directly visible (illuminable) from an internal point s, is simply connected. Aronov et al. [2] established that the region V1(s) of a simple polygon visible from an internal point s due to at most one diffuse reflection on the boundary of the polygon P, is also simply connected. In this paper we establish that the region V2(s), visible from s due to at most two diffuse reflections may be multiply connected; we demonstrate the construction of an n-sided simple polygon with a point s inside it so that the region of P visible from s after at most two diffuse reflections is multiply connected. We also show that V3(s), the region of P visible from s after at most three diffuse reflections, can have (n) holes.A part of this work was done when this author was visiting the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida, USA.  相似文献

We study the Nevanlinna-Pick problem for a class of subalgebras of H . This class includes algebras of analytic functions on embedded disks, the algebras of finite codimension in H and the algebra of bounded analytic functions on a multiply connected domain. Our approach uses a distance formula that generalizes Sarason’s [23] work. We also investigate the difference between scalar-valued and matrix-valued interpolation through the use of C *-envelopes. A Hankel form on a Hilbert function space is a bounded, symmetric, bilinear form [., .] satisfying [fx, y] = [x, fy] for a class of multipliers f. We prove analogs of Weyl–Horn and Ky Fan inequalities for compact Hankel forms, and apply them to estimate the related eigenvalues, both for Hardy–Smirnov and Bergman spaces norms associated to multiply connected planar domains. In the case of the unit disk, we investigate the asymptotic of some measures constructed by eigenfunctions of Hankel operators with certain Markov functions as symbols. Submitted: May 2, 2008. We continue our exposition concerning the Carathéodory topology for multiply connected domains which we began in [Comerford M., The Carathéodory topology for multiply connected domains I, Cent. Eur. J. Math., 2013, 11(2), 322–340] by introducing the notion of boundedness for a family of pointed domains of the same connectivity. The limit of a convergent sequence of n-connected domains which is bounded in this sense is again n-connected and will satisfy the same bounds. We prove a result which establishes several equivalent conditions for boundedness. This allows us to extend the notions of convergence and equicontinuity to families of functions defined on varying domains.  相似文献

We have implemented in Matlab a Gauss-like cubature formula over convex, nonconvex or even multiply connected polygons. The formula is exact for polynomials of degree at most 2n-1 using Nmn 2 nodes, m being the number of sides that are not orthogonal to a given line, and not lying on it. It does not need any preprocessing like triangulation of the domain, but relies directly on univariate Gauss–Legendre quadrature via Green’s integral formula. Several numerical tests are presented. We consider extremal problems in the classes Eq, q≥1, in finitely connected domains and we establish a representation of extremal functions in terms of Green's and Neumann's functions. We consider the two‐dimensional Ginzburg‐Landau model with magnetic field for a superconductor with a multiply connected cross section. We study energy minimizers in the London limit as the Ginzburg‐Landau parameter κ = 1/? → ∞ to determine the number and asymptotic location of vortices. We show that the holes act as pinning sites, acquiring nonzero winding for bounded fields and attracting all vortices away from the interior for fields up to a critical value hex = O(|1n?|). At the critical level the pinning effect breaks down, and vortices appear in the interior of the superconductor at locations that we identify explicitly in terms of the solutions of an elliptic boundary value problem. The method involves sharp upper and lower energy estimates, and a careful analysis of the limiting problem that captures the interaction between the vortices and the holes. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

We discuss the extension of radial SLE to multiply connected planar domains. First, we extend Loewner's theory of slit mappings to multiply connected domains by establishing the radial Komatu-Loewner equation, and show that a simple curve from the boundary to the bulk is encoded by a motion on moduli space and a motion on the boundary of the domain. Then, we show that the vector-field describing the motion of the moduli is Lipschitz. We explain why this implies that “consistent,” conformally invariant random simple curves are described by multidimensional diffusions, where one component is a motion on the boundary, and the other component is a motion on moduli space. We argue what the exact form of this diffusion is (up to a single real parameter κ) in order to model boundaries of percolation clusters. Finally, we show that this moduli diffusion leads to random non-self-crossing curves satisfying the locality property if and only if κ=6.  相似文献

In References 4 and 5, the author studied the geometric form of the free boundary Γ of an annular domain Ω, characterized by the Bernoulli condition that |?U|=1 on Γ, where U is the capacity potential in Ω. It was shown, for example, that Γ has at most as many ν-extrema (for a given direction ν) or inflection points as the other boundary component Γ* of Ω, which is assumed given. Our purpose here is to extend the results in References 4 and 5 (wherever possible) to multiply connected regions for which some boundary components are given and others are free boundaries characterized by the Bernoulli condition. The object of this paper is to establish an expansion theorem for a regular right-definite eigenvalue problem with an eigenvalue parameter which is contained in the Schrödinger partial differential equation and in a general type of boundary conditions on the boundary of an arbitrary multiply connected bounded domain inR n (n2). The Schwarz problem for bi-analytic functions in unbounded circular multiply connected domains is considered. We combine constructive methods applied to boundary value problems for complex partial differential equations in simply connected domains and for the Riemann–Hilbert type problems in multiply connected domains. In this paper we present a boundary integral equation method for the numerical conformal mapping of bounded multiply connected region Ω onto a disk with circular slits. The method is based on some uniquely solvable boundary integral equations with classical adjoint and generalized Neumann kernels. These boundary integral equations are constructed from a boundary relationship satisfied by a function analytic on a multiply connected region. Some numerical examples are presented to illustrate the efficiency of the presented method.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop an adaptive finite element method based on reliable and efficient a posteriori error estimates for the Hψ formulation of eddy current problems with multiply connected conductors. Multiply connected domains are considered by making “cuts”. The competitive performance of the method is demonstrated by an engineering benchmark problem, Team Workshop Problem 7, and a singular problem with analytic solution.W. We present a new Fornberg-like method for the numerical conformal mapping of multiply connected regions exterior to circles to multiply connected regions exterior to smooth curves. The method is based on new, symmetric conditions for analytic extension of functions given on circular boundaries. We also briefly discuss a similar method due to Wegmann and compare some computations with both methods. Some examples of regions which exhibit crowding of the circles are also presented.  相似文献
