A series of optically active helical polyphosphazene block copolymers of general formula R? [N?P(O2C20H12)]n‐b‐[N?PMePh]m (R‐ 7 a – c ) was synthesized and characterized. The polymers were prepared by sequential living cationic polycondensation of N‐silylphosphoranimines using the mono‐end‐capped initiator [Ph3P?N?PCl3][PCl6] ( 5 ) and exhibit a low polydispersity index (ca. 1.3). The temperature dependence of the specific optical activity ([α]D) of R‐ 7 a , b relative to that for the homopolymers R‐[N?P(O2C20H12)]n (R‐ 8 a ) and the R/S analogues (R/S‐ 7 a , b ), revealed that the binaphthoxy–phosphazene segments induce a preferential helical conformation in the [N?PMePh] blocks through a “sergeant‐and‐soldiers” mechanism, an effect that is unprecedented in polyphosphazenes. The self‐assembly of drop‐cast thin films of the chiral block copolymer R‐ 7 b (bearing a long chiral and rigid R? [N?P(O2C20H12)] segment) evidenced a transfer of helicity mechanism, leading to the formation of twisted morphologies (twisted “pearl necklace”), not observed in the nonchiral R/S‐ 7 b . The chiral R‐ 7 a and the nonchiral R/S‐ 7 a , self‐assemble by a nondirected morphology reconstruction process into regular‐shaped macroporous films with chiral‐rich areas close to edge of the pore. This is the first nontemplate self‐assembly route to chiral macroporous polymeric films with pore size larger than 50 nm. The solvent annealing (THF) of these films leads to the formation of regular spherical nanostructures (ca. 50 nm), a rare example of nanospheres exclusively formed by synthetic helical polymers. 相似文献

Helical topological structures are often found in chiral biological systems, but seldom in synthesized polymers. Now, controllable microphase separation of amphiphilic liquid‐crystalline block copolymers (LCBCs) consisting of hydrophilic poly(ethylene oxide) and hydrophobic azobenzene‐containing poly(methylacrylate) is combined with chirality transfer to fabricate helical nanostructures by doping with chiral additives (enantiopure tartaric acid). Through hydrogen‐bonding interactions, chirality is transferred from the dopant to the aggregation, which directs the hierarchical self‐assembly in the composite system. Upon optimized annealing condition, helical structures in film are fabricated by the induced aggregation chirality. The photoresponsive azobenzene mesogens in the LCBC assist photoregulation of the self‐assembled helical morphologies. This allows the construction and non‐contact manipulation of complicated nanostructures. 相似文献

A chiral polymeric micelle is described, formed from the self‐assembly of TPPS and PEG114‐b‐P(4VP)38 in aqueous media based on their electrostatic interaction. The self‐assembly behavior is studied by DLS, SLS, TEM, UV‐vis absorption spectroscopy, and CD spectroscopy. The experimental results indicate that the resultant hybrid spherical micelles with a hybrid P(4VP)/TPPS core and a PEG shell show chiral signatures. In addition, the chiral micelles have a large dimension and biphasic segregated structure because of the formation of H‐aggregates and J‐aggregates in the micellar core.

Self‐assembly of macromolecules is fundamental to life itself, and historically, these systems have been primitively mimicked by the development of amphiphilic systems, driven by the hydrophobic effect. Herein, we demonstrate that self‐assembly of purely hydrophilic systems can be readily achieved with similar ease and success. We have synthesized double hydrophilic block copolymers from polysaccharides and poly(ethylene oxide) or poly(sarcosine) to yield high molar mass diblock copolymers through oxime chemistry. These hydrophilic materials can easily assemble into nanosized (<500 nm) and microsized (>5 μm) polymeric vesicles depending on concentration and diblock composition. Because of the solely hydrophilic nature of these materials, we expect them to be extraordinarily water permeable systems that would be well suited for use as cellular mimics. 相似文献

Two well‐defined diblock copolymers with quadruple hydrogen‐bonding groups on one block, denoted PSUEA‐1 and PSUEA‐2 , have been synthesized, and novel snowflake‐shaped nanometer‐scale aggregates, self‐assembled by such diblock copolymers in non‐polar solvents, have been observed. The micellar dimensions were investigated by DLLS and SLLS. Their morphologies were studied by TEM. Since the degrees of polymerization of the Upy‐containing blocks of PSUEA‐1 and PSUEA‐2 are quite similar and the polystyrene block of the PSUEA‐1 is longer than that of the PSUEA‐2 , a subtle but identifiable difference between the sizes and structures of the PSUEA‐1 and PSUEA‐2 aggregates was noticed and characterized.

We describe a new and very versatile method to place chosen chemical functionalities at the edge of the pores of macroporous materials. The method is based on the synthesis and self‐assembly of inorganic block copolymers (BCPs) having chiral rigid segments bearing controllable quantities of randomly distributed functional groups. The synthesis of a series of optically active block copolyphosphazenes (PP) with the general formula [N?P(R‐O2C20H12)0.9(FG)0.2]n‐b‐[N?PMePh]m (FG=‐OC5H4N ( 6 ), ‐NC4H8S ( 7 ), and ‐NC4H8O ( 8 )), was accomplished by the sequential living cationic polycondensation of N‐silylphosphoranimines, using the mono‐end‐capped initiator [Ph3P?N?PCl3][Cl] ( 3 ). The self‐assembly of the phosphazene BCPs 6 – 8 led to chiral porous films. The functionality present on those polymers affected their self‐assembly behaviour resulting in the formation of pores of different diameters (Dn=111 ( 6 ), 53 ( 7 ) and 77 nm ( 8 )). The specific functionalisation of the pores was proven by decorating the films with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). Thus, the BCPs 6 and 7 , having pyridine and thiomorpholine groups, respectively, were treated with HAuCl4, followed by reduction with NaBH4, yielding a new type of block copolyphosphazenes, which self‐assembled into chiral porous films specifically decorated with AuNPs at the edge of the pores. 相似文献

The preparation and aqueous self‐assembly of newly Y‐shaped amphiphilic block polyurethane (PUG) copolymers are reported here. These amphiphilic copolymers, designed to have two hydrophilic poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) tails and one hydrophobic alkyl tail via a two‐step coupling reaction, can self‐assemble into giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs) (diameter ≥ 1000 nm) with a direct dissolution method in aqueous solution, depending on their Y‐shaped structures and initial concentrations. More interesting, the copolymers can self‐assemble into various distinct nano‐/microstructures, such as spherical micelles, small vesicles, and GUVs, with the increase of their concentrations. The traditional preparation methods of GUVs generally need conventional amphiphilic molecules and additional complicated conditions, such as alternating electrical field, buffer solution, or organic solvent. Therefore, the self‐assembly of Y‐shaped PUGs with a direct dissolution method in aqueous solution demonstrated in this study supplies a new clue to fabricate GUVs based on the geometric design of amphiphilic polymers.

Hierarchical nanoporous structures are fabricated by adsorption of micelles of diblock copolymer‐templated Au‐nanoparticles onto a hydrophilic solid substrate. Gold nanoparticles are prepared using micelles (19 nm) of polystyrene‐block‐poly(4‐vinylpyridine) (PS‐b‐P4VP) as nanoreactors. Deposition of thin films of the micellar solution, modified with a non‐selective solvent (THF), on hydrophilic surfaces leads to the formation of hierarchical nanoporous morphologies. The thin films exhibit two different pore diameters and a total pore density of 15 × 108 holes per cm2. The structure was analyzed in terms of topography and chemical composition using AFM, TEM and XPS measurements. The PS‐b‐P4VP template was subsequently removed by oxygen plasma etching, to leave behind metallic nanopores that mimic the original thin film morphology.

Reported is the ability of α‐helical polypeptides to self‐assemble with oppositely‐charged polypeptides to form liquid complexes while maintaining their α‐helical secondary structure. Coupling the α‐helical polypeptide to a neutral, hydrophilic polymer and subsequent complexation enables the formation of nanoscale coacervate‐core micelles. While previous reports on polypeptide complexation demonstrated a critical dependence of the nature of the complex (liquid versus solid) on chirality, the α‐helical structure of the positively charged polypeptide prevents the formation of β‐sheets, which would otherwise drive the assembly into a solid state, thereby, enabling coacervate formation between two chiral components. The higher charge density of the assembly, a result of the folding of the α‐helical polypeptide, provides enhanced resistance to salts known to inhibit polypeptide complexation. The unique combination of properties of these materials can enhance the known potential of fluid polypeptide complexes for delivery of biologically relevant molecules. 相似文献

A diblock copolymer system constituting both achiral and chiral blocks, polystyrene‐block‐poly(L ‐lactide) (PS‐PLLA), was designed for the examination of chiral effects on the self‐assembly of block copolymers (BCPs). A unique phase with three‐dimensional hexagonally packed PLLA helices in PS matrix, a helical phase (H*), can be obtained from the self‐assembly of PS‐rich PS‐PLLA with volume fraction of PLLA f = 0.34, whereas no such phase was found in racemic polystyrene‐block‐poly(D .L ‐lactide) (PS‐PLA) BCPs. Moreover, various interesting crystalline PS‐PLLA nanostructures can be obtained by controlling the crystallization temperature of PLLA (Tc,PLLA), leading to the formation of crystalline helices (PLLA crystallization directed by helical confined microdomain) and crystalline cylinders (phase transformation of helical nanostructure dictated by crystallization) when Tc,PLLA < Tg,PS (the glass transition temperature of PS) and Tc,PLLA ≧ Tg,PS, respectively. As a result, a spring‐like behavior of the helical nanostructure can be driven by crystallization so as to dictate the transformation (i.e., stretching) of helices and to result in crystalline cylinders. For PS‐PLLA with PLLA‐rich fraction (f = 0.65), another unique phase, a hexagonally packed core‐shell cylinder phase with helical sense (CS*), in which the PS microdomains appear as shells and PLLA microdomains appear as matrix and cores, can be found in the self‐assembly of PLLA‐rich PS‐PLLA BCPs. The formation of those novel phases: helix and core‐shell cylinder is attributed to the chiral effect on the self‐assembly of BCPs, so we named this PS‐PLLA BCP as chiral BCP (BCP*). For potential applications of those materials, the spring‐like behavior with thermal reversibility might provide a method for the design of switchable nanodevices, such as nanoscale actuators. In addition, the PLLA blocks can be hydrolyzed. After hydrolysis, helical nanoporous PS bulk and PS tubular texture can be obtained and used as templates for the formation of nanocomposites.

We report the synthesis of telechelic poly(norbornene) and poly(cyclooctene) homopolymers by ring‐opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) and their subsequent functionalization and block copolymer formation based on noncovalent interactions. Whereas all the poly(norbornene)s contain either a metal complex or a hydrogen‐bonding moiety along the polymer side‐chains, together with a single hydrogen‐bonding‐based molecular recognition moiety at one terminal end of the polymer chain. These homopolymers allow for the formation of side‐chain‐functionalized AB and ABA block copolymers through self‐assembly. The orthogonal natures of all side‐ and main‐chain self‐assembly events were demonstrated by 1H NMR spectroscopy and isothermal titration calorimetry. The resulting fully functionalized block copolymers are the first copolymers combining both side‐ and main‐chain self‐assembly, thereby providing a high degree of control over copolymer functionalization and architecture and bringing synthetic materials one step closer to the dynamic self‐assembly structures found in nature. 相似文献

Oligopeptide‐Assisted Self‐Assembly of Oligothiophenes: Co‐Assembly and Chirality Transfer 下载免费PDF全文
Dr. Zongxia Guo Dr. Ruiying Gong Youbing Mu Dr. Xiao Wang Prof. Dr. Xiaobo Wan 《化学:亚洲杂志》2014,9(11):3245-3250
The biomolecule‐assisted self‐assembly of semiconductive molecules has been developed recently for the formation of potential bio‐based functional materials. Oligopeptide‐assisted self‐assembly of oligothiophene through weak intermolecular interactions was investigated; specifically the self‐assembly and chirality‐transfer behavior of achiral oligothiophenes in the presence of an oligopeptide with a strong tendency to form β‐sheets. Two kinds of oligothiophenes without (QT) or with (QTDA) carboxylic groups were selected to explore the effect of the end functional group on self‐assembly and chirality transfer. In both cases, organogels were formed. However, the assembly behavior of QT was quite different from that of QTDA. It was found that QT formed an organogel with the oligopeptide and co‐assembled into chiral nanostructures. Conversely, although QTDA also formed a gel with the oligopeptide, it has a strong tendency to self‐assemble independently. However, during the formation of the xerogel, the chirality of the oligopeptide can also be transferred to the QTDA assemblies. Different assembly models were proposed to explain the assembly behavior. 相似文献

Herein, two asymmetric chiral bent‐core molecules, 3‐[(4‐{[4‐(heptyloxy)benzoyl]oxy}benzoyl)oxy]‐phenyl‐4‐[(4‐{[(1R)‐1‐methylheptyl]oxy}benzoyl)oxy] benzoate (BC7R) and 3‐[(4‐{[4‐(heptyloxy)benzoyl]oxy}benzoyl)oxy]‐phenyl‐4‐[(4‐{[(1S)‐1‐methylheptyl]oxy}benzoyl)oxy] benzoate (BC7S), were synthesized to demonstrate control of the helicity of their self‐assembled hierarchical superstructures. Mirror‐imaged CD spectra showed a split‐type Cotton effect after the formation of self‐assembled aggregates of BC7R and BC7S, thereby suggesting the formation of intermolecular exciton couplets with opposite optical activities. Both twisted and helical ribbons with preferential helicity that corresponded to the twisting character of the intermolecular exciton couplet were found in the aggregates. The formation of helical ribbons was attributed to the merging of twisted ribbons through an increase in width to improve morphological stability. As a result, control of the helicity of hierarchical superstructures from the self‐assembly of bent‐core molecules could be achieved by taking advantage of the transfer of chiral information from the molecular level onto the hierarchical scale. 相似文献

We report the design and synthesis of new fully biodegradable thermoresponsive amphiphilic poly(γ‐benzyl L ‐glutamate)/poly(ethyl ethylene phosphate) (PBLG‐b‐PEEP) block copolymers by ring‐opening polymerization of N‐carboxy‐γ‐benzyl L ‐glutamate anhydride (BLG? NCA) with amine‐terminated poly(ethyl ethylene phosphate) (H2N? PEEP) as a macroinitiator. The fluorescence technique demonstrated that the block copolymers could form micelles composed of a hydrophobic core and a hydrophilic shell in aqueous solution. The morphology of the micelles as determined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was spherical. The size and critical micelle concentration (CMC) values of the micelles showed a decreasing trend as the PBLG segment increased. However, UV/Vis measurements showed that these block copolymers exhibited a reproducible temperature‐responsive behavior with a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) that could be tuned by the block composition and the concentration. 相似文献

A facile approach is reported to process rod–coil block copolymers (BCPs) into highly ordered nanostructures in a rapid, low‐energy process. By introducing a selective plasticizer into the rod–coil BCPs during annealing, both the annealing temperature and time to achieve thermodynamic equilibrium and highly ordered structures can be decreased. This process improvement is attributed to enhanced chain mobility, reduced rod–rod interaction, and decreased rod–coil interaction from the additive. The novel method is based on kinetically facilitating thermodynamic equilibrium. The process requires no modification of polymer structure, indicating that a wide variety of desired polymer functionalities can be designed into BCPs for specific applications.

The twisting of supramolecular aggregates formed from simple linear bis(benzamides) has been investigated. The antiparallel arrangement of the amide functional groups controls the generation of twisted supramolecular structures. The results presented herein could contribute to elaborate predictive tools applicable in the generation of chiral supramolecular structures. 相似文献
