Excessive heavy metals in the water constitute a health hazard to humans, yet it may be efficiently purified using adsorbents. Herein, for the first time, UiO-66-NH2 was modified by Glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) via microwave heating method to investigate its potential for adsorption of Pb(II) and Cd(II) metal ions. Synthesized MOF was characterized by TGA, XRD, BET, FE-SEM-EDX, and FTIR. The MOF has a huge surface area of 1144 m2/g, a mean pore diameter of 2.84 nm, and a total pore volume of 0.37 cm3/g. The effect of UiO-66-GMA performance was evaluated by investigating the impact of pH (1–9), contact time (0–200 min), initial metal ions concentration (20–1000 mg/L), temperature (25–55 °C), adsorbent dosage (0.5–3 g/L), and co existences of other metals was investigated on Pb(II) and Cd(II) percentage removal. Following an analysis of the adsorption isotherms, kinetics, and thermodynamics, the Temkin isothermal model showed an excellent fit with the adsorption data (R2 = 0.99). The adsorption process was a spontaneous endothermic reaction and kinetically followed the pseudo-second-order kinetics model. Microwave heating method produced highly crystalline small Zr-MOF nanoparticles with a short reaction time. It promoted the simple yet highly efficient synthesis of Zr-based MOFs, as shown by the reaction mass space-time yield. The adsorption capability of Pb to the presence of several polar functional groups, including as primary and secondary amines, ester, alkene, and hydroxyl groups. This adsorbent is a potential candidate for wastewater treatment due to its outstanding structural stability in acidic and basic solutions, high removal efficiency, and recyclability.  相似文献

The dithizone-anchored poly (EGDMA-HEMA) microbeads were prepared for the removal of heavy metal ions (i.e. cadmium, mercury, chromium and lead) from aqueous media containing different amounts of these ions (25-500 ppm) and at different pH values (2.0-8.0). The maximum adsorptions of heavy metal ions onto the dithizone-anchored microbeads from their solutions was 18.3, Cd(II); 43.1, Hg(II); 62.2, Cr(III) and 155.2 mg g(-1) for Pb(II). Competition between heavy metal ions (in the case of adsorption from mixture) yielded adsorption capacities of 9.7, Cd(II); 28.7, Hg(II); 17.6, Cr(III) and 38.3 mg g(-1) for Pb(II). The same affinity order was observed under non-competitive and competitive adsorption, i.e. Cr(III)>Pb(II)>Hg(II)>Cd(II). The adsorption of heavy metal ions increased with increasing pH and reached a plateaue value at around pH 5.0. Heavy metal ion adsorption from artificial wastewater was also studied. The adsorption capacities are 4.3, Cd(II); 13.2, Hg(II); 7.2, Cr(III) and 16.4 mg g(-1) for Pb(II). Desorption of heavy metal ions was achieved using 0.1 M HNO(3). The dithizone-anchored microbeads are suitable for repeated use (for more than five cycles) without noticeable loss of capacity.  相似文献

In the present work, Pb(II) and Cd(II) ion adsorption onto inert organic matter (IOM) obtained from ground dried plants: Euphorbia echinus, Launea arborescens, Senecio anthophorbium growing in semi-arid zones of Morocco and Carpobrotus edulis as the Mediterranean plant has been studied. A suspension of plant deroed micro-particles adsorbs lead and cadmium present as ionic species, with a higher affinity for Pb(II). The kinetics and the maximum capacity adsorption depend on the type of plant as well as on the metal ions (atomic weight, ionic radius and electronegativity). The adsorption process is affected by various parameters such as contact time, solution volume to mass of plant particles ratio (m/V), particle size, solution pH and metal concentration. A dose of 25 g/l of adsorbent was optimal to obtain maximum adsorption of both metal ions. The maximum metal uptake was obtained with particles of organic matter of <50 microm. As to classical ionic adsorption phenomena, the adsorption of both metal ions increases with the increase of the initial concentration in the solution. For the two metal cations, the uptake efficiency of the studied plants ranged from: C. edulis>E. echinus>S. anthophorbium>L. arborescens, however, the differences are rather small. Two different waste water types (domestic and industrial) were tested and good results were obtained for removal of Pb(II) and Cd(II) at more than 90%. The removal of the metal and mineral ions waste water was observed for PO(4)(3-) at 88%, for NO(3)(-) at 96.5% and for metal ions (Pb(II), Cd(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II)) at about 100%, using IOM as absorbent.  相似文献

Selective extraction techniques followed by adsorption experiment and statistical analysis were employed to estimate and compare the relative roles of metal oxides and organic substance in adsorption of Pb, Cd, Cu and Co onto surface coatings. Results indicated that metal oxides were very important sorbents for all of metal ions involved in this study, especially for Pb and Co. Furthermore, manganese oxides contributed to the absolute majority of Co adsorption regardless of concentration. But for Cu and Cd, organic materials are also very important sorbent phases, particularly for Cu, organic materials contributed to most of the Cu adsorption regardless of concentration. In addition, the analysis suggested the extraordinary predominance of Mn oxides for metal adsorption at the low concentrations. Considering the low concentration in natural water environments, Mn oxides might exert the greatest influence on the behavior of heavy metals.  相似文献

This work reports the simultaneous determination of Cd(II), Pb(II) and Zn(II) at the low μg l−1 concentration levels by square wave anodic stripping voltammetry (SWASV) on a bismuth-film electrode (BFE) plated in situ. The metal ions and bismuth were simultaneously deposited by reduction at −1.4 V on a rotating glassy carbon disk electrode. Then, the preconcentrated metals were oxidised by scanning the potential of the electrode from −1.4 to 0 V using a square-wave waveform. The stripping current arising from the oxidation of each metal was related to the concentration of each metal in the sample. The parameters for the simultaneous determination of the three metals were investigated with the view to apply this type of voltammetric sensor to real samples containing low concentrations of metals. Using the selected conditions, the limits of detection were 0.2 μg l−1 for Cd and for Pb and 0.7 μg l−1 for Zn at a preconcentration time of 10 min. Finally, BFE's were successfully applied to the determination of Pb and Zn in tapwater and human hair and the results were in satisfactory statistical agreement with atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS).  相似文献

In this study, Si-doped ferrihydrite (Si-Fh) was successfully synthesized by a simple coprecipitation method for removal of heavy metals in water. Subsequently, the physicochemical properties of Si-Fh before and after adsorption were further studied using several techniques. The Si-Fh exhibited good adsorption capacity for heavy metal ions such as Pb(II) and Cd(II). The maximum adsorption capacities of lead and cadmium are respectively 105.807, 37.986 mg/g. The distribution coefficients of the materials for Pb(II) and Cd(II) also showed a great affinity (under optimal conditions). Moreover, it was found that the adsorption fit well with the Freundlich isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic model which means this was a chemical adsorption process. It can be conducted from both characterization and model results that adsorption of Pb(II) and Cd(II) was mainly through the complexation interaction of abundance oxygen functional groups on the surface of Si-Fh. Overall, the Si-Fh adsorbents with many superiorities have potential for future applications in the removal of Pb(II) and Cd(II) from wastewater.  相似文献

The present work investigates the influence of acid activation of montmorillonite on adsorption of Cd(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Ni(II), and Pb(II) from aqueous medium and comparison of the adsorption capacities with those on parent montmorillonite. The clay-metal interactions were studied under different conditions of pH, concentration of metal ions, amount of clay, interaction time, and temperature. The interactions were dependent on pH and the uptake was controlled by the amount of clay and the initial concentration of the metal ions. The adsorption capacity of acid-activated montmorillonite increases for all the metal ions. The interactions were adsorptive in nature and relatively fast and the rate processes more akin to the second-order kinetics. The adsorption data fitted both Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms, indicating that strong forces were responsible for the interactions at energetically nonuniform sites. The Langmuir monolayer capacity of the acid-activated montmorillonite is more than that of the parent montmorillonite (Cd(II): 32.7 and 33.2 mg/g; Co(II): 28.6 and 29.7 mg/g; Cu(II): 31.8 and 32.3 mg/g; Pb(II): 33.0 and 34.0 mg/g; and Ni(II): 28.4 and 29.5 mg/g for montmorillonite and acid-activated montmorillonite, respectively). The thermodynamics of the rate processes showed the adsorption of Co(II), Pb(II), and Ni(II) to be exothermic, accompanied by decreases in entropy and Gibbs free energy, while the adsorption of Cd(II) and Cu(II) was endothermic, with an increase in entropy and an appreciable decrease in Gibbs free energy. The results have established the potential use for montmorillonite and its acid-activated form as adsorbents for Cd(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Ni(II), and Pb(II) ions from aqueous media.  相似文献

The breakthrough behavior of Pb2+ in an ETS-10 fixed bed was experimentally examined at various operating conditions. Results showed that the adsorption amount of Pb2+ ions per unit mass of ETS-10 particles in a column is about 1.68 mmol/g under the experimental conditions. This amount was not markedly affected by the operating conditions because of the rapid adsorption rate of Pb2+ ions on ETS-10. In the presence of competitive metal ions, the amount of Pb2+ adsorbed on ETS-10 was slightly reduced. An overshoot of the effluent concentrations of competitive metal ions Cu2+ and Cd2+ was observed in the adsorption systems of binary and ternary solutions. This is ascribed to the replacement of pre-adsorbed Cu2+ and Cd2+ ions by Pb2+ ions. The ETS-10 column broken up by Pb2+ ions can be regenerated by using an EDTA-Na2 solution and the regenerated column can be reused.  相似文献

Recycling of sugarcane bagasse and its coal as metal sorbents to capture metal ions from wastewater is the aim of this study. Thus, stability of sugarcane bagasse and its coal, in addition to the solubilities of metal ions in synthetic solution, were determined in this study at different pH values. Also, sorption of Fe, Mn, Cd, and Pb ions with different concentrations (10‐100 mg L?1) on different grain size fractions of sugarcane bagasse (< 150 > μm) and its coal (< 80 > μm) was carried out under different pH values (2, 4 and 6), dosage (2, 6, and 10 g L?1), time intervals (15‐300 min.) and temperature (20‐50 °C). The results indicated that the sugarcane bagasse and its coal were more stable at pH 6, and the solubilities of metal ions in the synthetic solution exhibited high values at pH 2 more than pH 4 and 6, respectively. Generally, removal of metal ions using the sorbents increased with the decreasing of grain size fractions and with increasing of pH values (6 > 4 > 2), sorbent doses (10 > 6 > 2 g L?1) and initial concentrations of metal ions (10‐100 mg L?1). Coal of sugarcane bagasse was more effective than the sugarcane bagasse for removal of the metal ions from solution. Positive values of ΔH° suggest the endothermic nature of sorption in all cases. The negative Gibb's free energy values indicate the feasibility of the process and spontaneous nature of sorption (Fe‐bagasse coal system), while the positive value of ΔG° suggests the non‐spontaneous character of adsorption of all metals. The negative values of entropy change ΔS° (Pb‐bagasse system) indicate the highly ordered adsorption process in this case, while the positive values of ΔS° show the increased randomness at solid/solution interface during the sorption metal ion on bagasse. The results of activation energy values indicate the order of sorption feasibility is: Pb > Fe > Cd > Mn in the case of bagasse and Fe > Pb > Cd > Mn in the case of coal. Generally, the results of this study suggest that the sugarcane bagasse and its coal might provide an economical method for the removal of metal ions from wastewater.  相似文献

A low-cost adsorbent and environmentally friendly adsorbent from Carpobrotus edulis plant was used for the removal of NO(3)(-), H(2)PO(4)(-), Pb(2+) and Cd(2+) ions from single, binary and multi-component systems. The efficiency of the adsorbent was studied using batch adsorption technique under different experimental conditions by varying parameters such as pH, initial concentration and contact time. In single component systems, the dried C. edulis has the highest affinity for Pb(2+), followed by NO(3)(-), Cd(2+) and H(2)PO(4)(-), with adsorption capacities of 175mg/g, 125mg/g, 28mg/g and 26mg/g, respectively. These results showed that the adsorption of NO(3)(-) and H(2)PO(4)(-) ions from single and binary component systems can be successfully described by Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms. Freundlich adsorption model, showed the best fit to the single and binary experimental adsorption data. These results also indicated that the adsorption yield of Pb(2+) ion was reduced by the presence of Cd(2+) ion in binary metal mixture. The competitive adsorption of NO(3)(-), H(2)PO(4)(-), Pb(2+) and Cd(2+) ions on dried C. edulis plant shows that NO(3)(-) and H(2)PO(4)(-) anions are able to adsorb on different free binding sites and Pb(2+) and Cd(2+) cations are able to adsorb on the same active sites of C. edulis particles. The dried C. edulis was found to be efficient in removing nitrate, phosphate, cadmium and lead from aqueous solution as compared to other adsorbents already used for the removal of these ions.  相似文献

The adsorption of Pb(II), Cu(II), Cd(II), Zn(II), Ni(II), Fe(II) and As(V) onto bacterially produced metal sulfide (BPMS) material was investigated using a batch equilibrium method. It was found that the sulfide material had adsorptive properties comparable with those of other adsorbents with respect to the specific uptake of a range of metals and, the levels to which dissolved metal concentrations in solution can be reduced. The percentage of adsorption increased with increasing pH and adsorbent dose, but decreased with increasing initial dissolved metal concentration. The pH of the solution was the most important parameter controlling adsorption of Cd(II), Cu(II), Fe(II), Ni(II), Pb(II), Zn(II), and As(V) by BPMS. The adsorption data were successfully modeled using the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Desorption experiments showed that the reversibility of adsorption was low, suggesting high-affinity adsorption governed by chemisorption. The mechanism of adsorption for the divalent metals was thought to be the formation of strong, inner-sphere complexes involving surface hydroxyl groups. However, the mechanism for the adsorption of As(V) by BPMS appears to be distinct from that of surface hydroxyl exchange. These results have important implications to the management of metal sulfide sludge produced by bacterial sulfate reduction.  相似文献

Poly(ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate-co-acrylamide) (poly(EDGMA-co-AAm)) copolymer beads have been prepared for use in the separation Pb(II), Hg(II), and Cd(II), metal ions in aqueous solution by a batch equilibration technique. Adsorption capacity were increased with pH for Pb(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) and then reached almost plateau value around 6.0. The high initial rate of metal ions uptake (<10 min) suggests that the adsorption occurs mainly at the bead surface. The metal uptake results show that poly(EGDMA-co-AAm) can be used for the adsorption of the following metals in the indicated order: Pb(II) > Cd(II) > Hg(II) expressed on a molar basis. However, when the uptake was expressed in terms of the amount of metal removed from solution was as follows: Pb(II) > Hg(II) > Cd(II). The beads still showed preference toward Pb(II) when this metal was in a mixture with Hg(II) and Cd(II). A linearized form of the Freundlich and the Langmuir isotherm model fits the experimental equilibrium concentration data of Hg(II) and Cd(II) better than isotherm type model of Pb(II). The recovery of the metal ions after adsorption and the regeneration of the adsorbent can be carried out by treatment of the loaded beads with either 0.5 M NaCl, or 1 M HNO3.  相似文献

Amperometric biosensor (BS) has been elaborated based on the stationary mercury-film electrode (SMFE) with silver support and cellulose nitrate (CN) membrane containing immobilized single-stranded DNA (ssIDNA). The sorption isotherms and ssDNA-heavy metal binding constants have been obtained with the BS. According to these data, the chosen heavy metals form the following series of binding strength with ssIDNA: Pb(II)>Fe(III)>Cd(II). It has been found that upon the competitive adsorption, there exists practically simultaneous sorption of different ions at ssIDNA containing membrane. The method of the determination of heavy metals based on preconcentration of metal ions on the BS followed by the destruction of DNA-metal complexes with ethylenediamine tetraacetate (EDTA) and voltammogram recording has been proposed. The lower limits of detectable contents are 1.0x10(-10), 1.0x10(-9) and 1.0x10(-7) mol l(-1) for Pb(II), Cd(II) and Fe(III), respectively. Heavy metals have been assayed in natural and drinking water, milk and blood serum samples even under simultaneous presence with a selectivity factor of 1:10. The effect of matrix components has been estimated.  相似文献

Wastewater produced from the soil washing process contains heavy metals, which limits its reuse for washing. So it is necessary to develop an efficient and economical way to recycle it, and this study presented a biosorption method to realize this goal. A typical soil sample contaminated by lead was taken from the real field near a lead smelting factory, used for the toxic metals extraction with dilute citric acid. A leach liquor was obtained with lead ions at the level of 12.35 mg/L, Cd 1.2 mg/L, Cu 1.5 mg/L, Zn 2.6 mg/L, as well as the coexisting anions, such as sulphate, silicate, chloride at the concentration of several hundred miligram per liter. The garlic peel was modified by a simple chemical saponification process and used as the biosorbent for toxic metal removal. Firstly, the adsorption behavior of lead ions on the saponified garlic peel was systematically investigated using the synthetic solutions, and then the adsorption mechanisms were explored by detailed experiments combining with the thermodynamic calculation reuslts of the aqueous system of Pb(Ⅱ)-citrate-H2O. It was found that in artificial solution containing 0.01 mol/L citrate, the maximum adsorption capacity of 261.0 mg/g was reached at pH near 3.0, and also at this very pH value the Pb2+ and Pb(H2Cit)+ were the dominant lead species, which are favorable for adsorption due to its easier approaching to the -COO- ligands in the saponified garlic peel partilces via charge attraction, and the appearance of Pb(HCit)0 and Pb(Cit)- at pH above 3.0 inhibits the adsorption. Secondly, the real leach liquor was used for adsorption tests, and twice adsorption under the optimal conditons would decrease the residual concentrations of Pb, Cd, Cu and Zn to zero. After elution by using 0.1 mol/L nitric acid, the adsorbed metals can be recovered and garlic peel can be reused for at least 10 cycles effectively. This study presents a prospective biosorption method for economical and efficient removal of the lead ions from soil washing wastewater with citric acid as the leaching reagent.  相似文献

Three low-cost adsorbents (purified raw attapulgite (A-ATP), high-temperature-calcined attapulgite (T-ATP), and hydrothermal loading of MgO (MgO-ATP)) were prepared as adsorbents for the removal of Cd(II) and Pb(II). By evaluating the effect of the initial solution pH, contact time, initial solution concentration, temperature and coexistence of metal ions on Cd(II) and Pb(II) adsorption, the experimental results showed that MgO-ATP was successfully prepared by hydrothermal reaction and calcination as well as appearing to be a promising excellent adsorbent. At an initial pH of 5.0, A-ATP, T-ATP and MgO-ATP reached maximum adsorption amounts of 43.5, 53.9 and 127.6 mg/g for Pb(II) and 10.9, 11.2, and 25.3 mg/g for Cd(II) at 298 K, respectively. The Cd(II) adsorption on A-ATP was fitted by the Freundlich model, while the adsorption of Pb(II) and Cd(II) on T-ATP and MgO-ATP as well as Pb(II) adsorption on A-ATP agreed with the Langmuir model. All kinetic experimental data favored pseudo second-order model. The calculated thermodynamic parameters suggested that Pb(II) adsorption onto MgO-ATP was spontaneous and exothermic. When considering foreign metal ions, the three adsorbents all presented preferential adsorption for Pb (II). Chemical adsorption had a high contribution to the removal of Cd(II) and Pb(II) by modified attapulgite. In summary, the adsorption was greatly enhanced by the hydrothermal loading of MgO. It aimed to provide insights into the MgO-ATP, which could be able to efficiently remove Cd(II) and Pb(II) and serve as an economic and promising adsorbent for heavy metal-contaminated environmental remediation.  相似文献

The amounts of free ions and labile complexes of Pb, Zn and Cd have been determined in a complex organic growth medium by use of anodic stripping staircase voltammetry, ASSV. It was possible to determine the labile fractions of metals and to obtain good correlation with data on the toxicity of the metals to Tetrahymena when using a specific reduction potential (E(s)) for each element, - 600, - 800 and - 1200 mV vs. SCE for Pb, Zn and Cd, respectively. The labile fractions in the organic growth medium were less than 1% for Pb (Pb precipitated), 15% for Zn (as labile complexes) and 30-40% for Cd (as free ions) for total heavy metal concentrations of 0.5mM-2mM. The toxicity to Tetrahymena decreased in the order Cd Zn Pb. The effect of Pb was greater than predicted by ASSV, probably because Tetrahymena additionally ingests the lead-containing precipitate and therefore is exposed to concentrations of Pb exceeding those of the soluble species found in the medium. The results stress the importance of using different specific reduction potentials when different elements are compared, instead of one potential common to all elements. The use of a fixed potential may lead to erroneous conclusions regarding the concentrations of labile species in solution.  相似文献

We have developed a novel approach to obtain high metal sorption capacity utilizing a membrane containing chitosan and an immobilized reactive dye (i.e. Reactive Yellow-2). The composite membrane was characterized by SEM, FT-IR, swelling test, and elemental analysis. The membrane has uniform small pores distribution and the pore dimensions are between 5 and 10 μm, and the HEMA:chitosan ratio was 50:1. The reactive dye immobilized composite membrane was used in the removal of heavy metal ions [i.e., Pb(II), Hg(II) and Cd(II)] from aqueous medium containing different amounts of these ions (5-600 mg l−1) and at different pH values (2.0-7.0). The maximum adsorption capacities of heavy metal ions onto the composite membrane under non-competitive conditions were 64.3 mmol m−2 for Pb(II), 52.7 mmol m−2 for Hg(II), 39.6 mmol m−2 for Cd(II) and the affinity order was Pb(II) > Hg(II)>Cd(II).  相似文献

The leached residue, generated after selective extraction of Cu, Ni, and Co in sulfur dioxide-ammonia leaching of manganese nodules, was characterized and batch isothermal adsorption experiments were conducted at ambient temperature to evaluate the effectiveness of the water-washed leached residue for removal of different bivalent metal ions from aqueous synthetic solutions. The effects of pH, initial metal ion concentrations, amount of adsorbent, interfering ions, and heat treatment were also investigated. The uptake of metal ions increased with increasing pH. Under identical conditions the adsorption capacity increased in the order Cd(2+)相似文献

Shrinking Core model, widely accepted in the solid-fluid non-catalytic reaction system was applied to analyze the adsorption of metal ions like Zn(II), Cr(VI), Cd(II) and Pb(II) from the aqueous solutions onto the clarified sludge (CLS). The diffusivities of different metal ions in clarified sludge were determined by global optimization. The depth of penetration was also estimated for different initial concentrations. The experimental concentration profiles at various initial concentrations for all these four different metal ions matched well with the model predictions.  相似文献
